1 Chronicles 14

Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to Dauid, and timber of Cedars, with masons, and carpenters to build him an house.

GenevaThen sent Hiram the King of Tyrus messengers to Dauid, and cedar trees, with masons and carpenters to builde him an house.

וַ֠/יִּשְׁלַח חירם מֶֽלֶךְ צֹ֥ר מַלְאָכִים֮ אֶל דָּוִיד֒ וַ/עֲצֵ֣י אֲרָזִ֔ים וְ/חָרָשֵׁ֣י קִ֔יר וְ/חָרָשֵׁ֖י עֵצִ֑ים לִ/בְנ֥וֹת ל֖/וֹ בָּֽיִת

And Dauid perceiued that the LORD had confirmed him king ouer Israel, for his kingdome was lift vp on high, because of his people Israel.

GenevaTherefore Dauid knewe that the Lord had confirmed him King ouer Israel, and that his kingdome was lift vp on hie, because of his people Israel.

וַ/יֵּ֣דַע דָּוִ֔יד כִּֽי הֱכִינ֧/וֹ יְהוָ֛ה לְ/מֶ֖לֶךְ עַל יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל כִּֽי נִשֵּׂ֤את לְ/מַ֨עְלָ/ה֙ מַלְכוּת֔/וֹ בַּ/עֲב֖וּר עַמּ֥/וֹ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל

¶ And Dauid tooke moe wiues at Ierusalem: and Dauid begate moe sonnes and daughters.

וַ/יִּקַּ֨ח דָּוִ֥יד ע֛וֹד נָשִׁ֖ים בִּ/ירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם וַ/יּ֧וֹלֶד דָּוִ֛יד ע֖וֹד בָּנִ֥ים וּ/בָנֽוֹת

Now these are the names of his children which hee had in Ierusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,

וְ/אֵ֨לֶּה֙ שְׁמ֣וֹת הַ/יְלוּדִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָיוּ ל֖/וֹ בִּ/ירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם שַׁמּ֣וּעַ וְ/שׁוֹבָ֔ב נָתָ֖ן וּ/שְׁלֹמֹֽה

And Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,

וְ/יִבְחָ֥ר וֶ/אֱלִישׁ֖וּעַ וְ/אֶלְפָּֽלֶט

And Noga, and Nepheg, and Iaphia,

וְ/נֹ֥גַהּ וְ/נֶ֖פֶג וְ/יָפִֽיעַ

And Elishama, and Beeliada, and Elpalet.

GenevaAnd Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.

וֶ/אֱלִישָׁמָ֥ע וּ/בְעֶלְיָדָ֖ע וֶ/אֱלִיפָֽלֶט

¶ And when the Philistines heard that Dauid was anoynted king ouer all Israel, all the Philistines went vp to seeke Dauid: and Dauid heard of it, and went out against them.

GenevaBut when the Philistims heard that Dauid was anointed King ouer Israel, all the Philistims came vp to seeke Dauid. And when Dauid heard, he went out against them.

וַ/יִּשְׁמְע֣וּ פְלִשְׁתִּ֗ים כִּי נִמְשַׁ֨ח דָּוִ֤יד לְ/מֶ֨לֶךְ֙ עַל כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַ/יַּעֲל֥וּ כָל פְּלִשְׁתִּ֖ים לְ/בַקֵּ֣שׁ אֶת דָּוִ֑יד וַ/יִּשְׁמַ֣ע דָּוִ֔יד וַ/יֵּצֵ֖א לִ/פְנֵי/הֶֽם

And the Philistines came & spread themselues in the valley of Rephaim.

GenevaAnd the Philistims came, and spred them selues in the valley of Rephaim.

וּ/פְלִשְׁתִּ֖ים בָּ֑אוּ וַֽ/יִּפְשְׁט֖וּ בְּ/עֵ֥מֶק רְפָאִֽים

And Dauid enquired of God, saying, Shall I goe vp against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliuer them into mine hand? And the LORD said vnto him, Go vp, for I will deliuer them into thine hand.

GenevaThen Dauid asked counsel at God, saying, Shall I goe vp against the Philistims, and wilt thou deliuer them into mine hande? And the Lord saide vnto him, Goe vp: for I will deliuer them into thine hande.

וַ/יִּשְׁאַ֨ל דָּוִ֤יד בֵּ/אלֹהִים֙ לֵ/אמֹ֔ר הַ/אֶֽעֱלֶה֙ עַל פלשתיים וּ/נְתַתָּ֖/ם בְּ/יָדִ֑/י וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר ל֤/וֹ יְהוָה֙ עֲלֵ֔ה וּ/נְתַתִּ֖י/ם בְּ/יָדֶֽ/ךָ

So they came vp to Baal-Perazim, and Dauid smote them there. Then Dauid said, God hath broken in vpon mine enemies by mine hand, like the breaking foorth of waters: therefore they called the name of that place, Baal-Perazim.

וַ/יַּעֲל֥וּ בְּ/בַֽעַל פְּרָצִים֮ וַ/יַּכֵּ֣/ם שָׁ֣ם דָּוִיד֒ וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר דָּוִ֔יד פָּרַ֨ץ הָֽ/אֱלֹהִ֧ים אֶת אוֹיְבַ֛/י בְּ/יָדִ֖/י כְּ/פֶ֣רֶץ מָ֑יִם עַל כֵּ֗ן קָֽרְא֛וּ שֵֽׁם הַ/מָּק֥וֹם הַ/ה֖וּא בַּ֥עַל פְּרָצִֽים

And when they had left their gods there, Dauid gaue a commandement, and they were burnt with fire.

GenevaAnd there they had left their gods: and Dauid said, Let them euen be burnt with fire.

וַ/יַּעַזְבוּ שָׁ֖ם אֶת אֱלֹֽהֵי/הֶ֑ם וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר דָּוִ֔יד וַ/יִּשָּׂרְפ֖וּ בָּ/אֵֽשׁ

And the Philistines yet againe spread themselues abroad in the valley.

GenevaAgaine the Philistims came and spread them selues in the valley.

וַ/יֹּסִ֤יפוּ עוֹד֙ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים וַֽ/יִּפְשְׁט֖וּ בָּ/עֵֽמֶק

Therfore Dauid enquired againe of God, and God said vnto him, Goe not vp after them, turne away from them, and come vpon them ouer against the mulbery trees.

GenevaAnd when Dauid asked againe counsell at God, God said to him, Thou shalt not goe vp after them, but turne away from them, that thou mayest come vpon them ouer against the mulberie trees.

וַ/יִּשְׁאַ֨ל ע֤וֹד דָּוִיד֙ בֵּֽ/אלֹהִ֔ים וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר ל/וֹ֙ הָֽ/אֱלֹהִ֔ים לֹ֥א תַֽעֲלֶ֖ה אַֽחֲרֵי/הֶ֑ם הָסֵב֙ מֵֽ/עֲלֵי/הֶ֔ם וּ/בָ֥אתָ לָ/הֶ֖ם מִ/מּ֥וּל הַ/בְּכָאִֽים

And it shall bee, when thou shalt heare a sound of going in the tops of the mulbery trees, that then thou shalt goe out to battaile: for God is gone foorth before thee, to smite the hoste of the Philistines.

GenevaAnd when thou hearest the noyse of one going in the toppes of the mulberie trees, then goe out to battel: for God is gone foorth before thee, to smite the hoste of the Philistims.

וִ֠/יהִי כְּֽ/שָׁמְעֲ/ךָ֞ אֶת ק֤וֹל הַ/צְּעָדָה֙ בְּ/רָאשֵׁ֣י הַ/בְּכָאִ֔ים אָ֖ז תֵּצֵ֣א בַ/מִּלְחָמָ֑ה כִּֽי יָצָ֤א הָֽ/אֱלֹהִים֙ לְ/פָנֶ֔י/ךָ לְ/הַכּ֖וֹת אֶת מַחֲנֵ֥ה פְלִשְׁתִּֽים

Dauid therefore did as God commanded him: and they smote the hoste of the Philistines from Gibeon euen to Gazer.

וַ/יַּ֣עַשׂ דָּוִ֔יד כַּֽ/אֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוָּ֖/הוּ הָֽ/אֱלֹהִ֑ים וַ/יַּכּוּ֙ אֶת מַחֲנֵ֣ה פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים מִ/גִּבְע֖וֹן וְ/עַד גָּֽזְרָ/ה

And the fame of Dauid went out into all lands, and the LORD brought the feare of him vpon all nations.
