1 Samuel 19
And Saul spake to Ionathan his sonne, and to all his seruants, that they should kill Dauid.
GenevaThen Saul spake to Ionathan his sonne, and to all his seruantes, that they shoulde kill Dauid: but Ionathan Sauls sonne had a great fauour to Dauid.
וַ/יְדַבֵּ֣ר שָׁא֗וּל אֶל יוֹנָתָ֤ן בְּנ/וֹ֙ וְ/אֶל כָּל עֲבָדָ֔י/ו לְ/הָמִ֖ית אֶת דָּוִ֑ד וִ/יהֽוֹנָתָן֙ בֶּן שָׁא֔וּל חָפֵ֥ץ בְּ/דָוִ֖ד מְאֹֽד
But Ionathan Sauls sonne delighted much in Dauid, and Ionathan told Dauid, saying, Saul my father seeketh to kill thee: Now therefore, I pray thee, take heed to thy selfe vntill the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide thy selfe:
GenevaAnd Ionathan told Dauid, saying, Saul my father goeth about to slay thee: nowe therefore, I pray thee, take heede vnto thy selfe vnto the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide thy selfe.
וַ/יַּגֵּ֤ד יְהוֹנָתָן֙ לְ/דָוִ֣ד לֵ/אמֹ֔ר מְבַקֵּ֛שׁ שָׁא֥וּל אָבִ֖/י לַ/הֲמִיתֶ֑/ךָ וְ/עַתָּה֙ הִשָּֽׁמֶר נָ֣א בַ/בֹּ֔קֶר וְ/יָשַׁבְתָּ֥ בַ/סֵּ֖תֶר וְ/נַחְבֵּֽאתָ
And I will goe out and stand beside my father in the field where thou art, and I will commune with my father of thee, and what I see, that I will tell thee.
GenevaAnd I will go out, and stand by my father in the fielde where thou art, and will commune with my father of thee, and I will see what he sayth, and will tell thee.
וַ/אֲנִ֨י אֵצֵ֜א וְ/עָמַדְתִּ֣י לְ/יַד אָבִ֗/י בַּ/שָּׂדֶה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אַתָּ֣ה שָׁ֔ם וַ/אֲנִ֕י אֲדַבֵּ֥ר בְּ/ךָ֖ אֶל אָבִ֑/י וְ/רָאִ֥יתִי מָ֖ה וְ/הִגַּ֥דְתִּי לָֽ/ךְ
¶ And Ionathan spake good of Dauid vnto Saul his father, and said vnto him, Let not the King sinne against his seruant, against Dauid: because hee hath not sinned against thee, and because his workes haue bene to thee ward very good.

וַ/יְדַבֵּ֨ר יְהוֹנָתָ֤ן בְּ/דָוִד֙ ט֔וֹב אֶל שָׁא֖וּל אָבִ֑י/ו וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אֵ֠לָי/ו אַל יֶחֱטָ֨א הַ/מֶּ֜לֶךְ בְּ/עַבְדּ֣/וֹ בְ/דָוִ֗ד כִּ֣י ל֤וֹא חָטָא֙ לָ֔/ךְ וְ/כִ֥י מַעֲשָׂ֖י/ו טוֹב לְ/ךָ֥ מְאֹֽד
For he did put his life in his hand, and slew the Philistine, & the LORD wrought a great saluation for all Israel: thou sawest it, and didst reioyce: Wherefore then wilt thou sinne against innocent blood, to slay Dauid without a cause?

וַ/יָּשֶׂם֩ אֶת נַפְשׁ֨/וֹ בְ/כַפּ֜/וֹ וַ/יַּ֣ךְ אֶת הַ/פְּלִשְׁתִּ֗י וַ/יַּ֨עַשׂ יְהוָ֜ה תְּשׁוּעָ֤ה גְדוֹלָה֙ לְ/כָל יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל רָאִ֖יתָ וַ/תִּשְׂמָ֑ח וְ/לָ֤/מָּה תֶֽחֱטָא֙ בְּ/דָ֣ם נָקִ֔י לְ/הָמִ֥ית אֶת דָּוִ֖ד חִנָּֽם
And Saul hearkened vnto the voyce of Ionathan; and Saul sware, As the LORD liueth, he shall not be slaine.

וַ/יִּשְׁמַ֥ע שָׁא֖וּל בְּ/ק֣וֹל יְהוֹנָתָ֑ן וַ/יִּשָּׁבַ֣ע שָׁא֔וּל חַי יְהוָ֖ה אִם יוּמָֽת
And Ionathan called Dauid, and Ionathan shewed him all those things: and Ionathan brought Dauid to Saul, and he was in his presence, as in times past.

וַ/יִּקְרָ֤א יְהוֹנָתָן֙ לְ/דָוִ֔ד וַ/יַּגֶּד ל/וֹ֙ יְה֣וֹנָתָ֔ן אֵ֥ת כָּל הַ/דְּבָרִ֖ים הָ/אֵ֑לֶּה וַ/יָּבֵ֨א יְהוֹנָתָ֤ן אֶת דָּוִד֙ אֶל שָׁא֔וּל וַ/יְהִ֥י לְ/פָנָ֖י/ו כְּ/אֶתְמ֥וֹל שִׁלְשֽׁוֹם
¶ And there was warre againe, and Dauid went out, and fought with the Philistines, and slew them with a great slaughter, & they fled from him.

וַ/תּ֥וֹסֶף הַ/מִּלְחָמָ֖ה לִֽ/הְי֑וֹת וַ/יֵּצֵ֨א דָוִ֜ד וַ/יִּלָּ֣חֶם בַּ/פְּלִשְׁתִּ֗ים וַ/יַּ֤ךְ בָּ/הֶם֙ מַכָּ֣ה גְדוֹלָ֔ה וַ/יָּנֻ֖סוּ מִ/פָּנָֽי/ו
And the euill spirit from the LORD was vpon Saul, as he sate in his house with his iauelin in his hand: and Dauid played with his hand.
GenevaAnd the euill spirit of the Lord was vpon Saul, as hee sate in his house hauing his speare in his hand, and Dauid played with his hand.
וַ/תְּהִי֩ ר֨וּחַ יְהוָ֤ה רָעָה֙ אֶל שָׁא֔וּל וְ/הוּא֙ בְּ/בֵית֣/וֹ יוֹשֵׁ֔ב וַ/חֲנִית֖/וֹ בְּ/יָד֑/וֹ וְ/דָוִ֖ד מְנַגֵּ֥ן בְּ/יָֽד
And Saul sought to smite Dauid euen to the wall with the iauelin: but hee slipt away out of Sauls presence, and he smote the iauelin into the wall: and Dauid fled, and escaped that night.
GenevaAnd Saul intended to smite Dauid to the wall with the speare: but hee turned aside out of Sauls presence, and he smote the speare against the wall: but Dauid fled, and escaped the same night.
וַ/יְבַקֵּ֨שׁ שָׁא֜וּל לְ/הַכּ֤וֹת בַּֽ/חֲנִית֙ בְּ/דָוִ֣ד וּ/בַ/קִּ֔יר וַ/יִּפְטַר֙ מִ/פְּנֵ֣י שָׁא֔וּל וַ/יַּ֥ךְ אֶֽת הַ/חֲנִ֖ית בַּ/קִּ֑יר וְ/דָוִ֛ד נָ֥ס וַ/יִּמָּלֵ֖ט בַּ/לַּ֥יְלָה הֽוּא
Saul also sent messengers vnto Dauids house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning: and Michal Dauids wife tolde him, saying, If thou saue not thy life to night, to morrow thou shalt be slaine.

וַ/יִּשְׁלַח֩ שָׁא֨וּל מַלְאָכִ֜ים אֶל בֵּ֤ית דָּוִד֙ לְ/שָׁמְר֔/וֹ וְ/לַ/הֲמִית֖/וֹ בַּ/בֹּ֑קֶר וַ/תַּגֵּ֣ד לְ/דָוִ֗ד מִיכַ֤ל אִשְׁתּ/וֹ֙ לֵ/אמֹ֔ר אִם אֵ֨ינְ/ךָ֜ מְמַלֵּ֤ט אֶֽת נַפְשְׁ/ךָ֙ הַ/לַּ֔יְלָה מָחָ֖ר אַתָּ֥ה מוּמָֽת
¶ So Michal let Dauid downe thorow a window: and hee went and fled, and escaped.

וַ/תֹּ֧רֶד מִיכַ֛ל אֶת דָּוִ֖ד בְּעַ֣ד הַ/חַלּ֑וֹן וַ/יֵּ֥לֶךְ וַ/יִּבְרַ֖ח וַ/יִּמָּלֵֽט
And Michal tooke an image, and laid it in the bedde, and put a pillow of goats haire for his bolster, and couered it with a cloth.
GenevaThen Michal tooke an image, and layde it in the bed, and put a pillow stuffed with goates heare vnder the head of it, and couered it with a cloth.
וַ/תִּקַּ֨ח מִיכַ֜ל אֶת הַ/תְּרָפִ֗ים וַ/תָּ֨שֶׂם֙ אֶל הַ/מִּטָּ֔ה וְ/אֵת֙ כְּבִ֣יר הָֽ/עִזִּ֔ים שָׂ֖מָה מְרַֽאֲשֹׁתָ֑י/ו וַ/תְּכַ֖ס בַּ/בָּֽגֶד
And when Saul sent messengers to take Dauid, she said, He is sicke.

וַ/יִּשְׁלַ֥ח שָׁא֛וּל מַלְאָכִ֖ים לָ/קַ֣חַת אֶת דָּוִ֑ד וַ/תֹּ֖אמֶר חֹלֶ֥ה הֽוּא
And Saul sent the messengers againe to see Dauid, saying, Bring him vp to me in the bedde, that I may slay him.

And Saul said vnto Michal, Why hast thou deceiued me so, and sent away mine enemie, that he is escaped? And Michal answered Saul, Hee said vnto me, Let mee goe; Why should I kill thee?
GenevaAnd Saul said vnto Michal, Why hast thou mocked me so, and sent away mine enemie, that he is escaped? And Michal answered Saul, He said vnto me, Let me go, or els I will kill thee.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר שָׁא֜וּל אֶל מִיכַ֗ל לָ֤/מָּה כָּ֨כָה֙ רִמִּיתִ֔/נִי וַ/תְּשַׁלְּחִ֥י אֶת אֹיְבִ֖/י וַ/יִּמָּלֵ֑ט וַ/תֹּ֤אמֶר מִיכַל֙ אֶל שָׁא֔וּל הוּא אָמַ֥ר אֵלַ֛/י שַׁלְּחִ֖/נִי לָ/מָ֥ה אֲמִיתֵֽ/ךְ
¶ So Dauid fledde, and escaped, and came to Samuel to Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him: and hee and Samuel went, and dwelt in Naioth.

וְ/דָוִ֨ד בָּרַ֜ח וַ/יִּמָּלֵ֗ט וַ/יָּבֹ֤א אֶל שְׁמוּאֵל֙ הָ/רָמָ֔תָ/ה וַ/יַּ֨גֶּד ל֔/וֹ אֵ֛ת כָּל אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָֽשָׂה ל֖/וֹ שָׁא֑וּל וַ/יֵּ֤לֶךְ הוּא֙ וּ/שְׁמוּאֵ֔ל וַ/יֵּשְׁב֖וּ ב/נוית
And it was told Saul, saying, Behold, Dauid is at Naioth in Ramah.

And Saul sent messengers to take Dauid: and when they sawe the company of the Prophets prophecying, and Samuel standing as appointed ouer them, the Spirit of God was vpon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophecied.

וַ/יִּשְׁלַ֨ח שָׁא֣וּל מַלְאָכִים֮ לָ/קַ֣חַת אֶת דָּוִד֒ וַ/יַּ֗רְא אֶֽת לַהֲקַ֤ת הַ/נְּבִיאִים֙ נִבְּאִ֔ים וּ/שְׁמוּאֵ֕ל עֹמֵ֥ד נִצָּ֖ב עֲלֵי/הֶ֑ם וַ/תְּהִ֞י עַֽל מַלְאֲכֵ֤י שָׁאוּל֙ ר֣וּחַ אֱלֹהִ֔ים וַ/יִּֽתְנַבְּא֖וּ גַּם הֵֽמָּה
And when it was tolde Saul, he sent other messengers, and they prophecied likewise: and Saul sent messengers againe the third time, and they prophecied also.

Then went hee also to Ramah, and came to a great well that is in Sechu: and he asked, and said, Where are Samuel and Dauid? And one said, Behold, they be at Naioth in Ramah.

וַ/יֵּ֨לֶךְ גַּם ה֜וּא הָ/רָמָ֗תָ/ה וַ/יָּבֹא֙ עַד בּ֤וֹר הַ/גָּדוֹל֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּ/שֶּׂ֔כוּ וַ/יִּשְׁאַ֣ל וַ/יֹּ֔אמֶר אֵיפֹ֥ה שְׁמוּאֵ֖ל וְ/דָוִ֑ד וַ/יֹּ֕אמֶר הִנֵּ֖ה ב/נוית בָּ/רָמָֽה
And hee went thither to Naioth in Ramah: and the Spirit of God was vpon him also, and he went on and prophecied vntill hee came to Naioth in Ramah:

וַ/יֵּ֣לֶךְ שָׁ֔ם אֶל נוית בָּ/רָמָ֑ה וַ/תְּהִי֩ עָלָ֨י/ו גַּם ה֜וּא ר֣וּחַ אֱלֹהִ֗ים וַ/יֵּ֤לֶךְ הָלוֹךְ֙ וַ/יִּתְנַבֵּ֔א עַד בֹּא֖/וֹ ב/נוית בָּ/רָמָֽה
And he stript off his clothes also, and prophecied before Samuel in like manner, and lay downe naked all that day, and all that night: wherefore they say, Is Saul also among the Prophets?

וַ/יִּפְשַׁ֨ט גַּם ה֜וּא בְּגָדָ֗י/ו וַ/יִּתְנַבֵּ֤א גַם הוּא֙ לִ/פְנֵ֣י שְׁמוּאֵ֔ל וַ/יִּפֹּ֣ל עָרֹ֔ם כָּל הַ/יּ֥וֹם הַ/ה֖וּא וְ/כָל הַ/לָּ֑יְלָה עַל כֵּן֙ יֹֽאמְר֔וּ הֲ/גַ֥ם שָׁא֖וּל בַּ/נְּבִיאִֽם
