1 Samuel 27
And Dauid sayd in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: there is nothing better for me, then that I should speedily escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul shal despaire of me, to seeke me any more in any coast of Israel: so shall I escape out of his hand.
GenevaAnd Dauid said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: is it not better for me that I saue my selfe in the lande of the Philistims, and that Saul may haue no hope of me to seeke me any more in all the coastes of Israel, and so escape out of his hand?
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר דָּוִד֙ אֶל לִבּ֔/וֹ עַתָּ֛ה אֶסָּפֶ֥ה יוֹם אֶחָ֖ד בְּ/יַד שָׁא֑וּל אֵֽין לִ֨/י ט֜וֹב כִּ֣י הִמָּלֵ֥ט אִמָּלֵ֣ט אֶל אֶ֣רֶץ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֗ים וְ/נוֹאַ֨שׁ מִמֶּ֤/נִּי שָׁאוּל֙ לְ/בַקְשֵׁ֤/נִי עוֹד֙ בְּ/כָל גְּב֣וּל יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְ/נִמְלַטְתִּ֖י מִ/יָּדֽ/וֹ
And Dauid arose, and hee passed ouer with the sixe hundred men that were with him, vnto Achish the sonne of Maoch king of Gath.
GenevaDauid therefore arose, and he, and the sixe hundreth men that were with him, went vnto Achish the sonne of Maoch King of Gath.
וַ/יָּ֣קָם דָּוִ֔ד וַ/יַּעֲבֹ֣ר ה֔וּא וְ/שֵׁשׁ מֵא֥וֹת אִ֖ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עִמּ֑/וֹ אֶל אָכִ֥ישׁ בֶּן מָע֖וֹךְ מֶ֥לֶךְ גַּֽת
And Dauid dwelt with Achish at Gath, he, and his men, euery man with his houshold, euen Dauid with his two wiues, Ahinoam the Iezreelitesse, and Abigail the Carmelitesse Nabals wife.

וַ/יֵּשֶׁב֩ דָּוִ֨ד עִם אָכִ֥ישׁ בְּ/גַ֛ת ה֥וּא וַ/אֲנָשָׁ֖י/ו אִ֣ישׁ וּ/בֵית֑/וֹ דָּוִד֙ וּ/שְׁתֵּ֣י נָשָׁ֔י/ו אֲחִינֹ֨עַם֙ הַ/יִּזְרְעֵאלִ֔ית וַ/אֲבִיגַ֥יִל אֵֽשֶׁת נָבָ֖ל הַֽ/כַּרְמְלִֽית
And it was told Saul, that Dauid was fled to Gath, and he sought no more againe for him.
GenevaAnd it was tolde Saul that Dauid was fled to Gath: so he sought no more for him.
וַ/יֻּגַּ֣ד לְ/שָׁא֔וּל כִּֽי בָרַ֥ח דָּוִ֖ד גַּ֑ת וְ/לֹֽא יוסף ע֖וֹד לְ/בַקְשֽׁ/וֹ
¶ And Dauid said vnto Achish, If I haue now found grace in thine eyes, let them giue mee a place in some towne in the countrey, that I may dwel there: for why should thy seruant dwell in the royall citie with thee?
GenevaAnd Dauid saide vnto Achish, If I haue nowe founde peace in thine eyes, let them giue me a place in some other citie of the countrey, that I may dwell there: for why should thy seruant dwel in ye head citie of the kingdome with thee?
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר דָּוִ֜ד אֶל אָכִ֗ישׁ אִם נָא֩ מָצָ֨אתִי חֵ֤ן בְּ/עֵינֶ֨י/ךָ֙ יִתְּנוּ לִ֣/י מָק֗וֹם בְּ/אַחַ֛ת עָרֵ֥י הַ/שָּׂדֶ֖ה וְ/אֵ֣שְׁבָה שָּׁ֑ם וְ/לָ֨/מָּה יֵשֵׁ֧ב עַבְדְּ/ךָ֛ בְּ/עִ֥יר הַ/מַּמְלָכָ֖ה עִמָּֽ/ךְ
Then Achish gaue him Ziklag that day: wherfore Ziklag pertaineth vnto the kings of Iudah vnto this day.

וַ/יִּתֶּן ל֥/וֹ אָכִ֛ישׁ בַּ/יּ֥וֹם הַ/ה֖וּא אֶת צִֽקְלָ֑ג לָ/כֵ֞ן הָיְתָ֤ה צִֽקְלַג֙ לְ/מַלְכֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה עַ֖ד הַ/יּ֥וֹם הַ/זֶּֽה
And the time that Dauid dwelt in the countrey of the Philistines, was a full yeere, and foure moneths.

וַֽ/יְהִי֙ מִסְפַּ֣ר הַ/יָּמִ֔ים אֲשֶׁר יָשַׁ֥ב דָּוִ֖ד בִּ/שְׂדֵ֣ה פְלִשְׁתִּ֑ים יָמִ֖ים וְ/אַרְבָּעָ֥ה חֳדָשִֽׁים
¶ And Dauid and his men went vp and inuaded the Geshurites, and the Gezrites, and the Amalekites: for those nations were of old the inhabitants of the land, as thou goest to Shur, euen vnto the land of Egypt.

וַ/יַּ֤עַל דָּוִד֙ וַֽ/אֲנָשָׁ֔י/ו וַֽ/יִּפְשְׁט֛וּ אֶל הַ/גְּשׁוּרִ֥י ו/ה/גרזי וְ/הָ/עֲמָלֵקִ֑י כִּ֣י הֵ֜נָּה יֹשְׁב֤וֹת הָ/אָ֨רֶץ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר מֵֽ/עוֹלָ֔ם בּוֹאֲ/ךָ֥ שׁ֖וּרָ/ה וְ/עַד אֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם
And Dauid smote the land, and left neither man nor woman aliue, and tooke away the sheepe, and the oxen, and the asses, and the camels, and the apparell, and returned, and came to Achish.

וְ/הִכָּ֤ה דָוִד֙ אֶת הָ/אָ֔רֶץ וְ/לֹ֥א יְחַיֶּ֖ה אִ֣ישׁ וְ/אִשָּׁ֑ה וְ/לָקַח֩ צֹ֨אן וּ/בָקָ֜ר וַ/חֲמֹרִ֤ים וּ/גְמַלִּים֙ וּ/בְגָדִ֔ים וַ/יָּ֖שָׁב וַ/יָּבֹ֥א אֶל אָכִֽישׁ
And Achish said, Whither haue ye made a rode to day? And Dauid said, Against the South of Iudah, and against the South of the Ierahmeelites, and against the South of the Kenites.
GenevaAnd Achish said, Where haue ye bene a rouing this day? And Dauid answered, Against the South of Iudah, and against the South of the Ierahmeelites, and against the South of ye Kenites.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אָכִ֔ישׁ אַל פְּשַׁטְתֶּ֖ם הַ/יּ֑וֹם וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר דָּוִ֗ד עַל נֶ֤גֶב יְהוּדָה֙ וְ/עַל נֶ֣גֶב הַ/יַּרְחְמְאֵלִ֔י וְ/אֶל נֶ֖גֶב הַ/קֵּינִֽי
And Dauid saued neither man nor woman aliue, to bring tidings to Gath, saying, Lest they should tell on vs, saying, So did Dauid, and so will be his maner, all the while he dwelleth in the countrey of the Philistines.

וְ/אִ֨ישׁ וְ/אִשָּׁ֜ה לֹֽא יְחַיֶּ֣ה דָוִ֗ד לְ/הָבִ֥יא גַת֙ לֵ/אמֹ֔ר פֶּן יַגִּ֥דוּ עָלֵ֖י/נוּ לֵ/אמֹ֑ר כֹּֽה עָשָׂ֤ה דָוִד֙ וְ/כֹ֣ה מִשְׁפָּט֔/וֹ כָּל הַ֨/יָּמִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר יָשַׁ֖ב בִּ/שְׂדֵ֥ה פְלִשְׁתִּֽים
And Achish beleeued Dauid, saying, Hee hath made his people Israel vtterly to abhorre him, therefore hee shall be my seruant for euer.

וַ/יַּאֲמֵ֥ן אָכִ֖ישׁ בְּ/דָוִ֣ד לֵ/אמֹ֑ר הַבְאֵ֤שׁ הִבְאִישׁ֙ בְּ/עַמּ֣/וֹ בְ/יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְ/הָ֥יָה לִ֖/י לְ/עֶ֥בֶד עוֹלָֽם
