Chapter 3
1 Thessalonians 3
Wherefore when wee could no longer forbeare, wee thought it good to bee left at Athens alone:
GenevaWherefore since we could no longer forbare, wee thought it good to remaine at Athens alone,
And sent Timotheus our brother and minister of God, and our fellow labourer in the Gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith:
GenevaAnd haue sent Timotheus our brother and minister of God, and our labour felow in the Gospel of Christ, to stablish you, and to comfort you touching your faith,
That no man should be mooued by these afflictions: for your selues know that we are appointed therunto.
GenevaThat no man should be moued with these afflictions: for ye your selues knowe, that we are appointed thereunto.
For verily when wee were with you, we told you before, that we should suffer tribulation, euen as it came to passe and ye know.
GenevaFor verily when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulations, euen as it came to passe, and ye knowe it.
For this cause when I could no longer forbeare, I sent to know your faith, lest by some meanes the tempter haue tempted you, and our labor be in vaine.
GenevaEuen for this cause, when I could no longer forbeare, I sent him that I might knowe of your faith, lest the tempter had tempted you in any sort, and that our labour had bene in vaine.
But now when Timotheus came from you vnto vs, and brought vs good tidings of your faith and charitie, and that ye haue good remembrance of vs alwayes, desiring greatly to see vs, as we also to see you:
GenevaBut now lately when Timotheus came from you vnto vs, and brought vs good tidings of your faith and loue, and that ye haue good remembrance of vs alwayes, desiring to see vs, as we also do you,
Therefore brethren, wee were comforted ouer you in all our affliction and distresse, by your faith:
GenevaTherefore, brethren, we had consolation in you, in all our affliction and necessitie through your faith.
For now we liue, if ye stand fast in the Lord.
GenevaFor nowe are wee aliue, if ye stand fast in the Lord.
For what thankes can we render to God againe for you, for all the ioy wherewith wee ioy for your sakes before our God,
GenevaFor what thankes can wee recompense to God againe for you, for all the ioy wherewith we reioyce for your sakes before our God,
Night & day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?
GenevaNight and day, praying exceedingly that wee might see your face, and might accomplish that which is lacking in your faith?
νυκτὸς καὶ ἡμέρας ὑπερεκπερισσοῦ δεόμενοι εἰς τὸ ἰδεῖν ὑμῶν τὸ πρόσωπον καὶ καταρτίσαι τὰ ὑστερήματα τῆς πίστεως ὑμῶν;
Now God himselfe and our Father, and our Lord Iesus Christ direct our way vnto you.
GenevaNowe God himselfe, euen our Father, and our Lord Iesus Christ, guide our iourney vnto you,
And the Lorde make you to increase, & abound in loue one towards another, and towards all men, euen as we doe towards you:
GenevaAnd the Lord increase you, and make you abound in loue one toward another, and towarde all men, euen as we doe toward you:
To the end hee may stablish your hearts vnblameable in holinesse before God euen our Father, at the comming of our Lord Iesus Christ with all his Saints.
GenevaTo make your hearts stable and vnblameable in holines before God euen our Father, at the comming of our Lord Iesus Christ with all his Saints.
