Chapter 3
2 Corinthians 3
Doe wee begin againe to commend our selues? or need wee, as some others, Epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?
GenevaDoe we begin to praise our selues againe? or neede we as some other, epistles of recommendation vnto you, or letters of recommendation from you?
Ἀρχόμεθα πάλιν ἑαυτοὺς συνιστάνειν; ἢ μὴ χρῄζομεν ὥς τινες συστατικῶν ἐπιστολῶν πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἢ ἐξ ὑμῶν;
Ye are our Epistle written in our hearts, knowen and read of all men.
GenevaYee are our epistle, written in our hearts, which is vnderstand, and read of all men,
Forasmuch as yee are manifestly declared to be the Epistle of Christ ministred by vs, written not with inke, but with the spirit of the liuing God, not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
GenevaIn that yee are manifest, to be the Epistle of Christ, ministred by vs, and written, not with yncke, but with the Spirite of the liuing God, not in tables of stone, but in fleshly tables of the heart.
And such trust haue wee through Christ to Godward:
GenevaAnd such trust haue we through Christ to God:
Not that wee are sufficient of our selues to thinke any thing as of our selues: but our sufficiencie is of God:
GenevaNot that we are sufficient of our selues, to thinke any thing, as of our selues: but our sufficiencie is of God,
Who also hath made vs able ministers of the New Testament, not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giueth life.
GenevaWho also hath made vs able ministers of the Newe testament, not of the letter, but of the Spirite: for the letter killeth, but the Spirite giueth life.
But if the ministration of death written, and ingrauen in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly beholde the face of Moses, for the glory of his countenance, which glorie was to be done away:
GenevaIf then the ministration of death written with letters and ingrauen in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel coulde not beholde the face of Moses, for the glorie of his countenance (which glorie is done away.)
How shall not the ministration of the spirit, be rather glorious?
GenevaHowe shall not the ministration of the Spirite be more glorious?
πῶς οὐχὶ μᾶλλον ἡ διακονία τοῦ πνεύματος ἔσται ἐν δόξῃ;
For if the ministration of condemnation bee glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousnesse exceed in glorie.
GenevaFor if the ministerie of condemnation was glorious, much more doeth the ministration of righteousnesse exceede in glorie.
For euen that which was made glorious, had no glorie in this respect by reason of the glorie that excelleth.
GenevaFor euen that which was glorified, was not glorified in this point, that is, as touching the exceeding glorie.
For if that which is done away, was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious.
GenevaFor if that which should be abolished, was glorious, much more shall that which remaineth, be glorious.
Seeing then that wee haue such hope, we vse great plainnesse of speech.
GenevaSeeing then that we haue such trust, we vse great boldnesse of speach.
And not as Moses, which put a vaile ouer his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly looke to the end of that which is abolished;
GenevaAnd we are not as Moses, which put a vaile vpon his face, that the children of Israel should not looke vnto the ende of that which should be abolished.
But their mindes were blinded: for vntill this day remaineth the same vaile vntaken away, in the reading of the old testament: which vaile is done away in Christ.
GenevaTherefore their mindes are hardened: for vntill this day remaineth the same couering vntaken away in the reading of the olde Testament, which vaile in Christ is put away.
But euen vnto this day, when Moses is read, the vaile is vpon their heart.
GenevaBut euen vnto this day, whe Moses is read, the vaile is laid ouer their hearts.
Neuerthelesse, when it shall turne to the Lord, the vaile shall be taken away.
GenevaNeuertheles when their heart shall be turned to the Lord, the vaile shalbe taken away.
Now the Lord is that spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is libertie.
GenevaNowe the Lord is the Spirite, and where the Spirite of the Lord is, there is libertie.
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glasse the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image, from glorie to glorie, euen as by the spirit of the Lord.
GenevaBut we al behold as in a mirrour the glory of the Lord with open face, and are changed into the same image, from glorie to glorie, as by the Spirit of the Lord.
