Amos 1

The wordes of Amos, who was among the heardmen of Tekoa, which hee sawe concerning Israel, in the daies of Uzziah King of Iudah, and in the dayes of Ieroboam the sonne of Ioash king of Israel, two yere before the earthquake.

דִּבְרֵ֣י עָמ֔וֹס אֲשֶׁר הָיָ֥ה בַ/נֹּקְדִ֖ים מִ/תְּק֑וֹעַ אֲשֶׁר֩ חָזָ֨ה עַל יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל בִּ/ימֵ֣י עֻזִיָּ֣ה מֶֽלֶךְ יְהוּדָ֗ה וּ/בִ/ימֵ֞י יָרָבְעָ֤ם בֶּן יוֹאָשׁ֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל שְׁנָתַ֖יִם לִ/פְנֵ֥י הָ/רָֽעַשׁ

And he said, The LORD will roare from Zion, and vtter his voice from Ierusalem: and the habitations of the shepheards shall mourne, and the top of Carmel shall wither.

GenevaAnd he saide, The Lord shall roare from Zion, and vtter his voyce from Ierusalem, and the dwelling places of the shepheards shall perish, and the top of Carmel shall wither,

וַ/יֹּאמַ֓ר יְהוָה֙ מִ/צִיּ֣וֹן יִשְׁאָ֔ג וּ/מִ/ירוּשָׁלִַ֖ם יִתֵּ֣ן קוֹל֑/וֹ וְ/אָֽבְלוּ֙ נְא֣וֹת הָ/רֹעִ֔ים וְ/יָבֵ֖שׁ רֹ֥אשׁ הַ/כַּרְמֶֽל

Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for foure I wil not turne away the punishment thereof, because they haue threshed Gilead, with threshing instruments of yron.

כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה עַל שְׁלֹשָׁה֙ פִּשְׁעֵ֣י דַמֶּ֔שֶׂק וְ/עַל אַרְבָּעָ֖ה לֹ֣א אֲשִׁיבֶ֑/נּוּ עַל דּוּשָׁ֛/ם בַּ/חֲרֻצ֥וֹת הַ/בַּרְזֶ֖ל אֶת הַ/גִּלְעָֽד

But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall deuoure the palaces of Benhadad.

GenevaTherefore will I sende a fire into the house of Hazael, and it shall deuoure the palaces of Ben-hadad.

וְ/שִׁלַּ֥חְתִּי אֵ֖שׁ בְּ/בֵ֣ית חֲזָאֵ֑ל וְ/אָכְלָ֖ה אַרְמְנ֥וֹת בֶּן הֲדָֽד

I wil breake also the barre of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plaine of Auen: and him that holdeth the scepter from the house of Eden, and the people of Syria shall goe into captiuitie, vnto Kir, saith the LORD.

וְ/שָֽׁבַרְתִּי֙ בְּרִ֣יחַ דַּמֶּ֔שֶׂק וְ/הִכְרַתִּ֤י יוֹשֵׁב֙ מִ/בִּקְעַת אָ֔וֶן וְ/תוֹמֵ֥ךְ שֵׁ֖בֶט מִ/בֵּ֣ית עֶ֑דֶן וְ/גָל֧וּ עַם אֲרָ֛ם קִ֖ירָ/ה אָמַ֥ר יְהוָֽה

¶ Thus saith the LORD, For three transgressions of Gaza, and for foure I will not turne away the punishment thereof: because they caried away captiue the whole captiuitie, to deliuer them vp to Edom.

כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה עַל שְׁלֹשָׁה֙ פִּשְׁעֵ֣י עַזָּ֔ה וְ/עַל אַרְבָּעָ֖ה לֹ֣א אֲשִׁיבֶ֑/נּוּ עַל הַגְלוֹתָ֛/ם גָּל֥וּת שְׁלֵמָ֖ה לְ/הַסְגִּ֥יר לֶ/אֱדֽוֹם

But I wil send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall deuoure the palaces thereof.

GenevaTherefore will I sende a fire vpon the walles of Azzah, and it shall deuoure the palaces thereof.

וְ/שִׁלַּ֥חְתִּי אֵ֖שׁ בְּ/חוֹמַ֣ת עַזָּ֑ה וְ/אָכְלָ֖ה אַרְמְנֹתֶֽי/הָ

And I wil cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the scepter from Ashkelon, and I wil turne mine hand against Ekron; and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord GOD.

וְ/הִכְרַתִּ֤י יוֹשֵׁב֙ מֵֽ/אַשְׁדּ֔וֹד וְ/תוֹמֵ֥ךְ שֵׁ֖בֶט מֵֽ/אַשְׁקְל֑וֹן וַ/הֲשִׁיב֨וֹתִי יָדִ֜/י עַל עֶקְר֗וֹן וְ/אָֽבְדוּ֙ שְׁאֵרִ֣ית פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים אָמַ֖ר אֲדֹנָ֥/י יְהוִֽה

¶ Thus saith the LORD, For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for foure I wil not turne away the punishment thereof, because they deliuered vp the whole captiuitie to Edom, and remembred not the brotherly couenant.

GenevaThus sayth the Lord, For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for foure, I will not turne to it, because they shut the whole captiuitie in Edom, and haue not remembred the brotherly couenant.

כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה עַל שְׁלֹשָׁה֙ פִּשְׁעֵי צֹ֔ר וְ/עַל אַרְבָּעָ֖ה לֹ֣א אֲשִׁיבֶ֑/נּוּ עַֽל הַסְגִּירָ֞/ם גָּל֤וּת שְׁלֵמָה֙ לֶ/אֱד֔וֹם וְ/לֹ֥א זָכְר֖וּ בְּרִ֥ית אַחִֽים

But I wil send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall deuoure the palaces thereof.

GenevaTherefore wil I send a fire vpon ye walles of Tyrus, and it shall deuoure the palaces thereof.

וְ/שִׁלַּ֥חְתִּי אֵ֖שׁ בְּ/ח֣וֹמַת צֹ֑ר וְ/אָכְלָ֖ה אַרְמְנֹתֶֽי/הָ

¶ Thus saith the LORD, For three transgressions of Edom, and for foure, I will not turne away the punishment thereof, because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pitie, and his anger did teare perpetually, and kept his wrath for euer.

GenevaThus sayeth the Lord, For three transgressions of Edom, and for foure, I will not turne to it, because hee did pursue his brother with the sworde, and did cast off all pitie, and his anger spoyled him euermore, and his wrath watched him alway.

כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה עַל שְׁלֹשָׁה֙ פִּשְׁעֵ֣י אֱד֔וֹם וְ/עַל אַרְבָּעָ֖ה לֹ֣א אֲשִׁיבֶ֑/נּוּ עַל רָדְפ֨/וֹ בַ/חֶ֤רֶב אָחִי/ו֙ וְ/שִׁחֵ֣ת רַחֲמָ֔י/ו וַ/יִּטְרֹ֤ף לָ/עַד֙ אַפּ֔/וֹ וְ/עֶבְרָת֖/וֹ שְׁמָ֥רָ/ה נֶֽצַח

But I will send a fire vpon Teman, which shall deuoure the palaces of Bozrah.

וְ/שִׁלַּ֥חְתִּי אֵ֖שׁ בְּ/תֵימָ֑ן וְ/אָכְלָ֖ה אַרְמְנ֥וֹת בָּצְרָֽה

¶ Thus sayth the LORD, For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for foure, I wil not turne away the punishment thereof; because they haue ript vp the women with childe of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border.

כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה עַל שְׁלֹשָׁה֙ פִּשְׁעֵ֣י בְנֵֽי עַמּ֔וֹן וְ/עַל אַרְבָּעָ֖ה לֹ֣א אֲשִׁיבֶ֑/נּוּ עַל בִּקְעָ/ם֙ הָר֣וֹת הַ/גִּלְעָ֔ד לְמַ֖עַן הַרְחִ֥יב אֶת גְּבוּלָֽ/ם

But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall deuoure the palaces thereof, with showting in the day of battell, with a tempest in the day of the whirlewinde.

וְ/הִצַּ֤תִּי אֵשׁ֙ בְּ/חוֹמַ֣ת רַבָּ֔ה וְ/אָכְלָ֖ה אַרְמְנוֹתֶ֑י/הָ בִּ/תְרוּעָה֙ בְּ/י֣וֹם מִלְחָמָ֔ה בְּ/סַ֖עַר בְּ/י֥וֹם סוּפָֽה

And their king shall goe into captiuitie, hee, and his princes together, sayth the LORD.
