Chapter 3
Amos 3
Heare this word that the LORD hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family, which I brought vp from the land of Egypt, saying;

שִׁמְע֞וּ אֶת הַ/דָּבָ֣ר הַ/זֶּ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר דִּבֶּ֧ר יְהוָ֛ה עֲלֵי/כֶ֖ם בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל עַ֚ל כָּל הַ/מִּשְׁפָּחָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֧ר הֶעֱלֵ֛יתִי מֵ/אֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרַ֖יִם לֵ/אמֹֽר
You onely haue I knowen of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.

רַ֚ק אֶתְ/כֶ֣ם יָדַ֔עְתִּי מִ/כֹּ֖ל מִשְׁפְּח֣וֹת הָ/אֲדָמָ֑ה עַל כֵּן֙ אֶפְקֹ֣ד עֲלֵי/כֶ֔ם אֵ֖ת כָּל עֲוֺנֹֽתֵי/כֶֽם
Can two walke together, except they be agreed?

הֲ/יֵלְכ֥וּ שְׁנַ֖יִם יַחְדָּ֑ו בִּלְתִּ֖י אִם נוֹעָֽדוּ
Will a lyon roare in the forrest, when he hath no pray? will a young lyon cry out of his den, if he haue taken nothing?

הֲ/יִשְׁאַ֤ג אַרְיֵה֙ בַּ/יַּ֔עַר וְ/טֶ֖רֶף אֵ֣ין ל֑/וֹ הֲ/יִתֵּ֨ן כְּפִ֤יר קוֹל/וֹ֙ מִ/מְּעֹ֣נָת֔/וֹ בִּלְתִּ֖י אִם לָכָֽד
Can a bird fall in a snare vpon the earth, where no ginne is for him? shall one take vp a snare from the earth, and haue taken nothing at all?
GenevaCan a birde fall in a snare vpon the earth, where no fouler is? or will he take vp the snare from the earth, and haue taken nothing at all?
הֲ/תִפֹּ֤ל צִפּוֹר֙ עַל פַּ֣ח הָ/אָ֔רֶץ וּ/מוֹקֵ֖שׁ אֵ֣ין לָ֑/הּ הֲ/יַֽעֲלֶה פַּח֙ מִן הָ֣/אֲדָמָ֔ה וְ/לָכ֖וֹד לֹ֥א יִלְכּֽוֹד
Shall a trumpet be blowen in the citie, and the people not be afraid? shall there be euill in a citie, and the LORD hath not done it?

אִם יִתָּקַ֤ע שׁוֹפָר֙ בְּ/עִ֔יר וְ/עָ֖ם לֹ֣א יֶחֱרָ֑דוּ אִם תִּהְיֶ֤ה רָעָה֙ בְּ/עִ֔יר וַ/יהוָ֖ה לֹ֥א עָשָֽׂה
Surely the Lord GOD will doe nothing, but he reuealeth his secret vnto his seruants the Prophets.

כִּ֣י לֹ֧א יַעֲשֶׂ֛ה אֲדֹנָ֥/י יְהוִ֖ה דָּבָ֑ר כִּ֚י אִם גָּלָ֣ה סוֹד֔/וֹ אֶל עֲבָדָ֖י/ו הַ/נְּבִיאִֽים
The lyon hath roared, Who will not feare? the Lord GOD hath spoken, Who can but prophecie?

אַרְיֵ֥ה שָׁאָ֖ג מִ֣י לֹ֣א יִירָ֑א אֲדֹנָ֤/י יְהוִה֙ דִּבֶּ֔ר מִ֖י לֹ֥א יִנָּבֵֽא
¶ Publish in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say; Assemble your selues vpon the mountaines of Samaria: and behold the great tumults in the midst thereof, and the oppressed in the midst thereof.

הַשְׁמִ֨יעוּ֙ עַל אַרְמְנ֣וֹת בְּ/אַשְׁדּ֔וֹד וְ/עַֽל אַרְמְנ֖וֹת בְּ/אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם וְ/אִמְר֗וּ הֵאָֽסְפוּ֙ עַל הָרֵ֣י שֹׁמְר֔וֹן וּ/רְא֞וּ מְהוּמֹ֤ת רַבּוֹת֙ בְּ/תוֹכָ֔/הּ וַ/עֲשׁוּקִ֖ים בְּ/קִרְבָּֽ/הּ
For they know not to doe right, saith the LORD; who store vp violence, and robberie in their palaces.

וְ/לֹֽא יָדְע֥וּ עֲשׂוֹת נְכֹחָ֖ה נְאֻם יְהוָ֑ה הָ/אֽוֹצְרִ֛ים חָמָ֥ס וָ/שֹׁ֖ד בְּ/אַרְמְנֽוֹתֵי/הֶֽם
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, An aduersarie there shall be euen round about the land: and he shal bring downe thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be spoiled.

לָ/כֵ֗ן כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣/י יְהוִ֔ה צַ֖ר וּ/סְבִ֣יב הָ/אָ֑רֶץ וְ/הוֹרִ֤ד מִמֵּ/ךְ֙ עֻזֵּ֔/ךְ וְ/נָבֹ֖זּוּ אַרְמְנוֹתָֽיִ/ךְ
Thus saith the LORD, As the shepheard taketh out of the mouth of the lyon two legges or a piece of an eare; so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria, in the corner of a bed, and in Damascus in a couch.

כֹּה֮ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָה֒ כַּ/אֲשֶׁר֩ יַצִּ֨יל הָ/רֹעֶ֜ה מִ/פִּ֧י הָ/אֲרִ֛י שְׁתֵּ֥י כְרָעַ֖יִם א֣וֹ בְדַל אֹ֑זֶן כֵּ֣ן יִנָּצְל֞וּ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל הַ/יֹּֽשְׁבִים֙ בְּ/שֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹן בִּ/פְאַ֥ת מִטָּ֖ה וּ/בִ/דְמֶ֥שֶׁק עָֽרֶשׂ
Heare yee and testifie in the house of Iacob, saith the Lord GOD, the God of hostes;

שִׁמְע֥וּ וְ/הָעִ֖ידוּ בְּ/בֵ֣ית יַֽעֲקֹ֑ב נְאֻם אֲדֹנָ֥/י יְהוִ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י הַ/צְּבָאֽוֹת
That in the day that I shall visite the transgressions of Israel vpon him, I will also visite the altars of Bethel, and the hornes of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground.

כִּ֗י בְּ/י֛וֹם פָּקְדִ֥/י פִשְׁעֵֽי יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל עָלָ֑י/ו וּ/פָֽקַדְתִּי֙ עַל מִזְבְּח֣וֹת בֵּֽית אֵ֔ל וְ/נִגְדְּעוּ֙ קַרְנ֣וֹת הַ/מִּזְבֵּ֔חַ וְ/נָפְל֖וּ לָ/אָֽרֶץ
And I will smite the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of yuorie shall perish, and the great houses shall haue an end, saith the LORD.
GenevaAnd I wil smite the winter house with the sommer house, and the houses of yuorie shall perish, and the great houses shalbe consumed, sayth the Lord.
וְ/הִכֵּיתִ֥י בֵית הַ/חֹ֖רֶף עַל בֵּ֣ית הַ/קָּ֑יִץ וְ/אָבְד֞וּ בָּתֵּ֣י הַ/שֵּׁ֗ן וְ/סָפ֛וּ בָּתִּ֥ים רַבִּ֖ים נְאֻם יְהוָֽה
