Exodus 4
And Moses answered, and said, But behold, they will not beleeue mee, nor hearken vnto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared vnto thee.

וַ/יַּ֤עַן מֹשֶׁה֙ וַ/יֹּ֔אמֶר וְ/הֵן֙ לֹֽא יַאֲמִ֣ינוּ לִ֔/י וְ/לֹ֥א יִשְׁמְע֖וּ בְּ/קֹלִ֑/י כִּ֣י יֹֽאמְר֔וּ לֹֽא נִרְאָ֥ה אֵלֶ֖י/ךָ יְהוָֽה
And the LORD said vnto him, What is that in thine hand? and hee said, A rod.
GenevaAnd the Lord said vnto him, What is that in thine hande? And he answered, A rod.
וַ/יֹּ֧אמֶר אֵלָ֛י/ו יְהוָ֖ה מ/זה בְ/יָדֶ֑/ךָ וַ/יֹּ֖אמֶר מַטֶּֽה
And he said, Cast it on the ground: And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent: and Moses fled from before it.
GenevaThen said he, Cast it on the ground. So he cast it on the grounde, and it was turned into a serpent: and Moses fled from it.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר֙ הַשְׁלִיכֵ֣/הוּ אַ֔רְצָ/ה וַ/יַּשְׁלִיכֵ֥/הוּ אַ֖רְצָ/ה וַ/יְהִ֣י לְ/נָחָ֑שׁ וַ/יָּ֥נָס מֹשֶׁ֖ה מִ/פָּנָֽי/ו
And the LORD said vnto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the taile: And he put foorth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand:
GenevaAgaine the Lord saide vnto Moses, Put foorth thine hand, and take it by the tayle. Then he put foorth his hande and caught it, and it was turned into a rod in his hand.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֶל מֹשֶׁ֔ה שְׁלַח֙ יָֽדְ/ךָ֔ וֶ/אֱחֹ֖ז בִּ/זְנָב֑/וֹ וַ/יִּשְׁלַ֤ח יָד/וֹ֙ וַ/יַּ֣חֲזֶק בּ֔/וֹ וַ/יְהִ֥י לְ/מַטֶּ֖ה בְּ/כַפּֽ/וֹ
That they may beleeue that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Iacob hath appeared vnto thee.
GenevaDo this that they may beleeue, that the Lord God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Izhak, and the God of Iaakob hath appeared vnto thee.
לְמַ֣עַן יַאֲמִ֔ינוּ כִּֽי נִרְאָ֥ה אֵלֶ֛י/ךָ יְהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י אֲבֹתָ֑/ם אֱלֹהֵ֧י אַבְרָהָ֛ם אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִצְחָ֖ק וֵ/אלֹהֵ֥י יַעֲקֹֽב
¶ And the LORD said furthermore vnto him, Put now thine hand into thy bosome. And he put his hand into his bosome: and when hee tooke it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snowe.
GenevaAnd the Lord saide furthermore vnto him, Thrust nowe thine hand into thy bosome. And he thrust his hand into his bosome, and when he tooke it out againe, behold, his hand was leprous as snowe.
וַ/יֹּאמֶר֩ יְהוָ֨ה ל֜/וֹ ע֗וֹד הָֽבֵא נָ֤א יָֽדְ/ךָ֙ בְּ/חֵיקֶ֔/ךָ וַ/יָּבֵ֥א יָד֖/וֹ בְּ/חֵיק֑/וֹ וַ/יּ֣וֹצִאָ֔/הּ וְ/הִנֵּ֥ה יָד֖/וֹ מְצֹרַ֥עַת כַּ/שָּֽׁלֶג
And he said, Put thine hand into thy bosome againe. And hee put his hand into his bosome againe, and plucked it out of his bosome, and behold, it was turned againe as his other flesh.
GenevaMoreouer he said, Put thine hand into thy bosome againe. So he put his hande into his bosome againe, and pluckt it out of his bosome, and behold, it was turned againe as his other flesh.
וַ/יֹּ֗אמֶר הָשֵׁ֤ב יָֽדְ/ךָ֙ אֶל חֵיקֶ֔/ךָ וַ/יָּ֥שֶׁב יָד֖/וֹ אֶל חֵיק֑/וֹ וַ/יּֽוֹצִאָ/הּ֙ מֵֽ/חֵיק֔/וֹ וְ/הִנֵּה שָׁ֖בָה כִּ/בְשָׂרֽ/וֹ
And it shall come to passe, if they wil not beleeue thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first signe, that they will beleeue the voice of the latter signe.
GenevaSo shall it be, if they wil not beleeue thee, neither obey the voyce of ye first signe, yet shall they beleeue for the voyce of the seconde signe.
וְ/הָיָה֙ אִם לֹ֣א יַאֲמִ֣ינוּ לָ֔/ךְ וְ/לֹ֣א יִשְׁמְע֔וּ לְ/קֹ֖ל הָ/אֹ֣ת הָ/רִאשׁ֑וֹן וְ/הֶֽאֱמִ֔ינוּ לְ/קֹ֖ל הָ/אֹ֥ת הָ/אַחֲרֽוֹן
And it shall come to passe, if they will not beleeue also these two signes, neither hearken vnto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the riuer, and powre it vpon the drie land: and the water which thou takest out of the riuer, shall become blood vpon the drie land.
GenevaBut if they will not yet beleeue these two signes, neither obey vnto thy voyce, then shalt thou take of the water of the riuer, and powre it vpon the drie lande: so the water which thou shalt take out of the riuer, shalbe turned to blood vpon the drie land.
וְ/הָיָ֡ה אִם לֹ֣א יַאֲמִ֡ינוּ גַּם֩ לִ/שְׁנֵ֨י הָ/אֹת֜וֹת הָ/אֵ֗לֶּה וְ/לֹ֤א יִשְׁמְעוּ/ן֙ לְ/קֹלֶ֔/ךָ וְ/לָקַחְתָּ֙ מִ/מֵּימֵ֣י הַ/יְאֹ֔ר וְ/שָׁפַכְתָּ֖ הַ/יַּבָּשָׁ֑ה וְ/הָי֤וּ הַ/מַּ֨יִם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר תִּקַּ֣ח מִן הַ/יְאֹ֔ר וְ/הָי֥וּ לְ/דָ֖ם בַּ/יַּבָּֽשֶׁת
¶ And Moses saide vnto the Lord, O my lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken vnto thy seruant: but I am slow of speach, and of a slow tongue.
GenevaBut Moses said vnto the Lord, Oh my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither at any time haue bene, nor yet since thou hast spoken vnto thy seruant: but I am slowe of speach and slowe of tongue.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֣ה אֶל יְהוָה֮ בִּ֣י אֲדֹנָ/י֒ לֹא֩ אִ֨ישׁ דְּבָרִ֜ים אָנֹ֗כִי גַּ֤ם מִ/תְּמוֹל֙ גַּ֣ם מִ/שִּׁלְשֹׁ֔ם גַּ֛ם מֵ/אָ֥ז דַּבֶּרְ/ךָ אֶל עַבְדֶּ֑/ךָ כִּ֧י כְבַד פֶּ֛ה וּ/כְבַ֥ד לָשׁ֖וֹן אָנֹֽכִי
And the LORD said vnto him, Who hath made mans mouth? or who maketh the dumbe or deafe, or the seeing, or þ blind? haue not I the LORD?
GenevaThen the Lord said vnto him, Who hath giuen the mouth to man? or who hath made the domme, or the deafe, or him that seeth, or the blinde? haue not I the Lord?
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֜ה אֵלָ֗י/ו מִ֣י שָׂ֣ם פֶּה֮ לָֽ/אָדָם֒ א֚וֹ מִֽי יָשׂ֣וּם אִלֵּ֔ם א֣וֹ חֵרֵ֔שׁ א֥וֹ פִקֵּ֖חַ א֣וֹ עִוֵּ֑ר הֲ/לֹ֥א אָנֹכִ֖י יְהוָֽה
Now therefore goe, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.
GenevaTherefore goe nowe, and I will be with thy mouth, and will teach thee what thou shalt say.
וְ/עַתָּ֖ה לֵ֑ךְ וְ/אָנֹכִי֙ אֶֽהְיֶ֣ה עִם פִּ֔י/ךָ וְ/הוֹרֵיתִ֖י/ךָ אֲשֶׁ֥ר תְּדַבֵּֽר
And he said, O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send.
GenevaBut he saide, Oh my Lord, sende, I pray thee, by the hande of him, whome thou shouldest sende.
וַ/יֹּ֖אמֶר בִּ֣י אֲדֹנָ֑/י שְֽׁלַֽח נָ֖א בְּ/יַד תִּשְׁלָֽח
And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and hee said, Is not Aaron the Leuite thy brother? I know that he can speake well. And also behold, he commeth foorth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, hee will be glad in his heart.
GenevaThen the Lord was verie angrie with Moses, and said, Doe not I know Aaron thy brother the Leuite, that he himselfe shall speake? for loe, he commeth also foorth to meete thee, and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.
וַ/יִּֽחַר אַ֨ף יְהוָ֜ה בְּ/מֹשֶׁ֗ה וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר֙ הֲ/לֹ֨א אַהֲרֹ֤ן אָחִ֨י/ךָ֙ הַ/לֵּוִ֔י יָדַ֕עְתִּי כִּֽי דַבֵּ֥ר יְדַבֵּ֖ר ה֑וּא וְ/גַ֤ם הִנֵּה הוּא֙ יֹצֵ֣א לִ/קְרָאתֶ֔/ךָ וְ/רָאֲ/ךָ֖ וְ/שָׂמַ֥ח בְּ/לִבּֽ/וֹ
And thou shalt speake vnto him, and put words in his mouth, and I wil be with thy mouth, & with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall doe.
GenevaTherefore thou shalt speake vnto him, and put the wordes in his mouth, and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye ought to doe.
וְ/דִבַּרְתָּ֣ אֵלָ֔י/ו וְ/שַׂמְתָּ֥ אֶת הַ/דְּבָרִ֖ים בְּ/פִ֑י/ו וְ/אָנֹכִ֗י אֶֽהְיֶ֤ה עִם פִּ֨י/ךָ֙ וְ/עִם פִּ֔י/הוּ וְ/הוֹרֵיתִ֣י אֶתְ/כֶ֔ם אֵ֖ת אֲשֶׁ֥ר תַּעֲשֽׂוּ/ן
And he shal be thy spokesman vnto the people: and he shall be, euen hee shall be to thee in stead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him in stead of God.
GenevaAnd he shall be thy spokesman vnto the people: and he shall be, euen he shall be as thy mouth, and thou shalt be to him as God.
וְ/דִבֶּר ה֥וּא לְ/ךָ֖ אֶל הָ/עָ֑ם וְ/הָ֤יָה הוּא֙ יִֽהְיֶה לְּ/ךָ֣ לְ/פֶ֔ה וְ/אַתָּ֖ה תִּֽהְיֶה לּ֥/וֹ לֵֽ/אלֹהִֽים
And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt doe signes.
GenevaMoreouer thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do miracles.
וְ/אֶת הַ/מַּטֶּ֥ה הַ/זֶּ֖ה תִּקַּ֣ח בְּ/יָדֶ֑/ךָ אֲשֶׁ֥ר תַּעֲשֶׂה בּ֖/וֹ אֶת הָ/אֹתֹֽת
¶ And Moses went and returned to Iethro his father in law, and said vnto him, Let me goe, I pray thee, and returne vnto my brethren, which are in Egypt, and see whether they bee yet aliue. And Iethro said to Moses, Goe in peace.

וַ/יֵּ֨לֶךְ מֹשֶׁ֜ה וַ/יָּ֣שָׁב אֶל יֶ֣תֶר חֹֽתְנ֗/וֹ וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר ל/וֹ֙ אֵ֣לֲכָה נָּ֗א וְ/אָשׁ֨וּבָה֙ אֶל אַחַ֣/י אֲשֶׁר בְּ/מִצְרַ֔יִם וְ/אֶרְאֶ֖ה הַ/עוֹדָ֣/ם חַיִּ֑ים וַ/יֹּ֧אמֶר יִתְר֛וֹ לְ/מֹשֶׁ֖ה לֵ֥ךְ לְ/שָׁלֽוֹם
And the LORD said vnto Moses in Midian, Goe, returne into Egypt: for all the men are dead which sought thy life.
Geneva(For the Lord had said vnto Moses in Midian, Goe, returne to Egypt: for they are all dead which went about to kill thee)
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֤ה אֶל מֹשֶׁה֙ בְּ/מִדְיָ֔ן לֵ֖ךְ שֻׁ֣ב מִצְרָ֑יִם כִּי מֵ֨תוּ֙ כָּל הָ֣/אֲנָשִׁ֔ים הַֽ/מְבַקְשִׁ֖ים אֶת נַפְשֶֽׁ/ךָ
And Moses tooke his wife, and his sonnes, and set them vpon an asse, and he returned to the land of Egypt. And Moses tooke the rod of God in his hand.

וַ/יִּקַּ֨ח מֹשֶׁ֜ה אֶת אִשְׁתּ֣/וֹ וְ/אֶת בָּנָ֗י/ו וַ/יַּרְכִּבֵ/ם֙ עַֽל הַ/חֲמֹ֔ר וַ/יָּ֖שָׁב אַ֣רְצָ/ה מִצְרָ֑יִם וַ/יִּקַּ֥ח מֹשֶׁ֛ה אֶת מַטֵּ֥ה הָ/אֱלֹהִ֖ים בְּ/יָדֽ/וֹ
And the LORD said vnto Moses, When thou goest to returne into Egypt, see that thou doe all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I haue put in thine hand: but I wil harden his heart, that hee shall not let the people goe.

וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוָה֮ אֶל מֹשֶׁה֒ בְּ/לֶכְתְּ/ךָ֙ לָ/שׁ֣וּב מִצְרַ֔יְמָ/ה רְאֵ֗ה כָּל הַ/מֹּֽפְתִים֙ אֲשֶׁר שַׂ֣מְתִּי בְ/יָדֶ֔/ךָ וַ/עֲשִׂיתָ֖/ם לִ/פְנֵ֣י פַרְעֹ֑ה וַ/אֲנִי֙ אֲחַזֵּ֣ק אֶת לִבּ֔/וֹ וְ/לֹ֥א יְשַׁלַּ֖ח אֶת הָ/עָֽם
And thou shalt say vnto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my sonne, euen my first borne.

וְ/אָמַרְתָּ֖ אֶל פַּרְעֹ֑ה כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה בְּנִ֥/י בְכֹרִ֖/י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל
And I say vnto thee, let my sonne goe, that he may serue mee: and if thou refuse to let him goe, behold, I will slay thy sonne, euen thy first borne.

וָ/אֹמַ֣ר אֵלֶ֗י/ךָ שַׁלַּ֤ח אֶת בְּנִ/י֙ וְ/יַֽעַבְדֵ֔/נִי וַ/תְּמָאֵ֖ן לְ/שַׁלְּח֑/וֹ הִנֵּה֙ אָנֹכִ֣י הֹרֵ֔ג אֶת בִּנְ/ךָ֖ בְּכֹרֶֽ/ךָ
¶ And it came to passe by the way in the Inne, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him.
GenevaAnd as he was by the waye in the ynne, the Lord met him, and would haue killed him.
וַ/יְהִ֥י בַ/דֶּ֖רֶךְ בַּ/מָּל֑וֹן וַ/יִּפְגְּשֵׁ֣/הוּ יְהוָ֔ה וַ/יְבַקֵּ֖שׁ הֲמִיתֽ/וֹ
Then Zipporah tooke a sharpe stone, and cut off the foreskinne of her sonne, and cast it at his feete, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to mee.
GenevaThen Zipporah tooke a sharpe knife, and cut away the foreskinne of her sonne, and cast it at his feete, and said, Thou art indeede a bloody husband vnto me.
וַ/תִּקַּ֨ח צִפֹּרָ֜ה צֹ֗ר וַ/תִּכְרֹת֙ אֶת עָרְלַ֣ת בְּנָ֔/הּ וַ/תַּגַּ֖ע לְ/רַגְלָ֑י/ו וַ/תֹּ֕אמֶר כִּ֧י חֲתַן דָּמִ֛ים אַתָּ֖ה לִֽ/י
So he let him goe: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the Circumcision.
GenevaSo he departed from him. Then she saide, O bloodie husband (because of the circumcision)
וַ/יִּ֖רֶף מִמֶּ֑/נּוּ אָ֚ז אָֽמְרָ֔ה חֲתַ֥ן דָּמִ֖ים לַ/מּוּלֹֽת
¶ And the LORD said to Aaron, Goe into the wildernesse to meete Moses. And hee went and met him in the mount of God, and kissed him.
GenevaThen the Lord saide vnto Aaron, Goe meete Moses in the wildernesse. And he went and mette him in the Mount of God, and kissed him.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֶֽל אַהֲרֹ֔ן לֵ֛ךְ לִ/קְרַ֥את מֹשֶׁ֖ה הַ/מִּדְבָּ֑רָ/ה וַ/יֵּ֗לֶךְ וַֽ/יִּפְגְּשֵׁ֛/הוּ בְּ/הַ֥ר הָ/אֱלֹהִ֖ים וַ/יִּשַּׁק לֽ/וֹ
And Moses tolde Aaron all the wordes of the LORD, who had sent him, and all the signes which hee had commanded him.

וַ/יַּגֵּ֤ד מֹשֶׁה֙ לְ/אַֽהֲרֹ֔ן אֵ֛ת כָּל דִּבְרֵ֥י יְהוָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר שְׁלָח֑/וֹ וְ/אֵ֥ת כָּל הָ/אֹתֹ֖ת אֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוָּֽ/הוּ
¶ And Moses and Aaron went, and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel.

וַ/יֵּ֥לֶךְ מֹשֶׁ֖ה וְ/אַהֲרֹ֑ן וַ/יַּ֣אַסְפ֔וּ אֶת כָּל זִקְנֵ֖י בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל
And Aaron spake all the wordes which the LORD had spoken vnto Moses, and did the signes in the sight of the people.
GenevaAnd Aaron told all the wordes, which the Lord had spoken vnto Moses, and he did the miracles in the sight of the people,
וַ/יְדַבֵּ֣ר אַהֲרֹ֔ן אֵ֚ת כָּל הַ/דְּבָרִ֔ים אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל מֹשֶׁ֑ה וַ/יַּ֥עַשׂ הָ/אֹתֹ֖ת לְ/עֵינֵ֥י הָ/עָֽם
And the people beleeued: And when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked vpon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.
GenevaAnd the people beleeued, and when they heard that the Lord had visited the children of Israel, and had looked vpon their tribulation, they bowed downe, and worshipped.
וַֽ/יַּאֲמֵ֖ן הָ/עָ֑ם וַֽ/יִּשְׁמְע֡וּ כִּֽי פָקַ֨ד יְהוָ֜ה אֶת בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל וְ/כִ֤י רָאָה֙ אֶת עָנְיָ֔/ם וַֽ/יִּקְּד֖וּ וַ/יִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוּֽוּ
