Genesis 48
And it came to passe after these things, that one told Ioseph, Behold, thy father is sicke: and he tooke with him his two sonnes, Manasseh and Ephraim.
GenevaAgaine after this, one sayd to Ioseph, Loe, thy father is sicke: then hee tooke with him his two sonnes, Manasseh and Ephraim.
וַ/יְהִ֗י אַחֲרֵי֙ הַ/דְּבָרִ֣ים הָ/אֵ֔לֶּה וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר לְ/יוֹסֵ֔ף הִנֵּ֥ה אָבִ֖י/ךָ חֹלֶ֑ה וַ/יִּקַּ֞ח אֶת שְׁנֵ֤י בָנָי/ו֙ עִמּ֔/וֹ אֶת מְנַשֶּׁ֖ה וְ/אֶת אֶפְרָֽיִם
And one told Iacob, and said, Behold, thy sonne Ioseph commeth vnto thee: and Israel strengthened himselfe, and sate vpon the bed.
GenevaAlso one told Iaakob, and said, Behold, thy sonne Ioseph is come to thee, and Israel tooke his strength vnto him and sate vpon the bed.
וַ/יַּגֵּ֣ד לְ/יַעֲקֹ֔ב וַ/יֹּ֕אמֶר הִנֵּ֛ה בִּנְ/ךָ֥ יוֹסֵ֖ף בָּ֣א אֵלֶ֑י/ךָ וַ/יִּתְחַזֵּק֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַ/יֵּ֖שֶׁב עַל הַ/מִּטָּֽה
And Iacob saide vnto Ioseph, God Almightie appeared vnto mee at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed mee,
GenevaThen Iaakob sayde vnto Ioseph, God almightie appeared vnto me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר יַעֲקֹב֙ אֶל יוֹסֵ֔ף אֵ֥ל שַׁדַּ֛י נִרְאָֽה אֵלַ֥/י בְּ/ל֖וּז בְּ/אֶ֣רֶץ כְּנָ֑עַן וַ/יְבָ֖רֶךְ אֹתִֽ/י
And said vnto me, Behold, I wil make thee fruitfull, and multiplie thee, and I will make of thee a multitude of people, and will giue this land to thy seede after thee, for an euerlasting possession.
GenevaAnd he sayde vnto me, Behold, I wil make thee fruitefull, and will multiplie thee, and will make a great number of people of thee, and will giue this lande vnto thy seede after thee for an euerlasting possession.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֗/י הִנְ/נִ֤י מַפְרְ/ךָ֙ וְ/הִרְבִּיתִ֔/ךָ וּ/נְתַתִּ֖י/ךָ לִ/קְהַ֣ל עַמִּ֑ים וְ/נָ֨תַתִּ֜י אֶת הָ/אָ֧רֶץ הַ/זֹּ֛את לְ/זַרְעֲ/ךָ֥ אַחֲרֶ֖י/ךָ אֲחֻזַּ֥ת עוֹלָֽם
¶ And now thy two sonnes, Ephraim and Manasseh, which were borne vnto thee in the land of Egypt, before I came vnto thee into Egypt, are mine: as Reuben and Simeon, they shalbe mine.
GenevaAnd now thy two sonnes, Manasseh and Ephraim, which are borne vnto thee in the lande of Egypt, before I came to thee into Egypt, shall be mine, as Reuben and Simeon are mine.
וְ/עַתָּ֡ה שְׁנֵֽי בָנֶי/ךָ֩ הַ/נּוֹלָדִ֨ים לְ/ךָ֜ בְּ/אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֗יִם עַד בֹּאִ֥/י אֵלֶ֛י/ךָ מִצְרַ֖יְמָ/ה לִ/י הֵ֑ם אֶפְרַ֨יִם֙ וּ/מְנַשֶּׁ֔ה כִּ/רְאוּבֵ֥ן וְ/שִׁמְע֖וֹן יִֽהְיוּ לִֽ/י
And thy issue which thou begettest after them, shall be thine, and shall be called after the name of their brethren in their inheritance.
GenevaBut the linage, which thou hast begotten after them, shalbe thine: they shall be called after the names of their brethren in their inheritance.
וּ/מוֹלַדְתְּ/ךָ֛ אֲשֶׁר הוֹלַ֥דְתָּ אַחֲרֵי/הֶ֖ם לְ/ךָ֣ יִהְי֑וּ עַ֣ל שֵׁ֧ם אֲחֵי/הֶ֛ם יִקָּרְא֖וּ בְּ/נַחֲלָתָֽ/ם
And as for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died by me in the land of Canaan, in the way, when yet there was but a little way to come vnto Ephrath: and I buried her there in the way of Ephrath, the same is Bethlehem.
GenevaNowe when I came from Padan, Rahel died vpon mine hande in the lande of Canaan, by the way when there was but halfe a dayes iourney of grounde to come to Ephrath: and I buryed her there in the way to Ephrath: the same is Beth-lehem.
וַ/אֲנִ֣י בְּ/בֹאִ֣/י מִ/פַּדָּ֗ן מֵ֩תָה֩ עָלַ֨/י רָחֵ֜ל בְּ/אֶ֤רֶץ כְּנַ֨עַן֙ בַּ/דֶּ֔רֶךְ בְּ/ע֥וֹד כִּבְרַת אֶ֖רֶץ לָ/בֹ֣א אֶפְרָ֑תָה וָ/אֶקְבְּרֶ֤/הָ שָּׁם֙ בְּ/דֶ֣רֶךְ אֶפְרָ֔ת הִ֖וא בֵּ֥ית לָֽחֶם
And Israel behelde Iosephs sonnes, and said, Who are these?
GenevaThen Israel beheld Iosephs sonnes and sayd, Whose are these?
וַ/יַּ֥רְא יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל אֶת בְּנֵ֣י יוֹסֵ֑ף וַ/יֹּ֖אמֶר מִי אֵֽלֶּה
And Ioseph said vnto his father, They are my sonnes, whom God hath giuen me in this place: and he said, Bring them, I pray thee, vnto me, and I will blesse them.
GenevaAnd Ioseph sayd vnto his father, They are my sonnes, which God hath giuen mee here. Then he sayd, I pray thee, bring them to me, that I may blesse them:
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר יוֹסֵף֙ אֶל אָבִ֔י/ו בָּנַ֣/י הֵ֔ם אֲשֶׁר נָֽתַן לִ֥/י אֱלֹהִ֖ים בָּ/זֶ֑ה וַ/יֹּאמַ֕ר קָֽחֶ/ם נָ֥א אֵלַ֖/י וַ/אֲבָרֲכֵֽ/ם
(Now the eyes of Israel were dimme for age, so that he could not see,) and hee brought them neere vnto him, and he kissed them, and imbraced them.
Geneva(For the eyes of Israel were dimme for age, so that hee coulde not well see) Then he caused them to come to him, and he kissed them and embraced them.
וְ/עֵינֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ כָּבְד֣וּ מִ/זֹּ֔קֶן לֹ֥א יוּכַ֖ל לִ/רְא֑וֹת וַ/יַּגֵּ֤שׁ אֹתָ/ם֙ אֵלָ֔י/ו וַ/יִּשַּׁ֥ק לָ/הֶ֖ם וַ/יְחַבֵּ֥ק לָ/הֶֽם
And Israel said vnto Ioseph, I had not thought to see thy face: and loe, God hath shewed me also thy seed.
GenevaAnd Israel sayde vnto Ioseph, I had not thought to haue seene thy face: yet lo, God hath shewed me also thy seede.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אֶל יוֹסֵ֔ף רְאֹ֥ה פָנֶ֖י/ךָ לֹ֣א פִלָּ֑לְתִּי וְ/הִנֵּ֨ה הֶרְאָ֥ה אֹתִ֛/י אֱלֹהִ֖ים גַּ֥ם אֶת זַרְעֶֽ/ךָ
And Ioseph brought them out from betweene his knees, and hee bowed himselfe with his face to the earth.
GenevaAnd Ioseph tooke them away from his knees, and did reuerence downe to the ground.
וַ/יּוֹצֵ֥א יוֹסֵ֛ף אֹתָ֖/ם מֵ/עִ֣ם בִּרְכָּ֑י/ו וַ/יִּשְׁתַּ֥חוּ לְ/אַפָּ֖י/ו אָֽרְצָ/ה
And Ioseph tooke them both, Ephraim in his right hand, toward Israels left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand towards Israels right hand, and brought them neere vnto him.
GenevaThen tooke Ioseph them both, Ephraim in his right hand towarde Israels left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israels right hand, so he brought them vnto him.
וַ/יִּקַּ֣ח יוֹסֵף֮ אֶת שְׁנֵי/הֶם֒ אֶת אֶפְרַ֤יִם בִּֽ/ימִינ/וֹ֙ מִ/שְּׂמֹ֣אל יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְ/אֶת מְנַשֶּׁ֥ה בִ/שְׂמֹאל֖/וֹ מִ/ימִ֣ין יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַ/יַּגֵּ֖שׁ אֵלָֽי/ו
And Israel stretched out his right hand, and layd it vpon Ephraims head who was the yonger; and his left hand vpon Manassehs head, guiding his hands wittingly: for Manasseh was the first borne.
GenevaBut Israel stretched out his right hand, and layde it on Ephraims head, which was the yonger, and his left hande vpon Manassehs head (directing his handes of purpose) for Manasseh was the elder.
וַ/יִּשְׁלַח֩ יִשְׂרָאֵ֨ל אֶת יְמִינ֜/וֹ וַ/יָּ֨שֶׁת עַל רֹ֤אשׁ אֶפְרַ֨יִם֙ וְ/ה֣וּא הַ/צָּעִ֔יר וְ/אֶת שְׂמֹאל֖/וֹ עַל רֹ֣אשׁ מְנַשֶּׁ֑ה שִׂכֵּל֙ אֶת יָדָ֔י/ו כִּ֥י מְנַשֶּׁ֖ה הַ/בְּכֽוֹר
¶ And he blessed Ioseph and said, God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walke, the God which fedde mee all my life long vnto this day,
GenevaAlso he blessed Ioseph and sayde, The God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Izhak did walke, the God, which hath fed me al my life long vnto this day, blesse thee.
וַ/יְבָ֥רֶךְ אֶת יוֹסֵ֖ף וַ/יֹּאמַ֑ר הָֽ/אֱלֹהִ֡ים אֲשֶׁר֩ הִתְהַלְּכ֨וּ אֲבֹתַ֤/י לְ/פָנָי/ו֙ אַבְרָהָ֣ם וְ/יִצְחָ֔ק הָֽ/אֱלֹהִים֙ הָ/רֹעֶ֣ה אֹתִ֔/י מֵ/עוֹדִ֖/י עַד הַ/יּ֥וֹם הַ/זֶּֽה
The Angel which redeemed mee from all euill, blesse the laddes, and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac, and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.
GenevaThe Angel, which hath deliuered me from all euill, blesse the children, and let my name be named vpon them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Izhak, that they may growe as fish into a multitude in the middes of the earth.
הַ/מַּלְאָךְ֩ הַ/גֹּאֵ֨ל אֹתִ֜/י מִ/כָּל רָ֗ע יְבָרֵךְ֮ אֶת הַ/נְּעָרִים֒ וְ/יִקָּרֵ֤א בָ/הֶם֙ שְׁמִ֔/י וְ/שֵׁ֥ם אֲבֹתַ֖/י אַבְרָהָ֣ם וְ/יִצְחָ֑ק וְ/יִדְגּ֥וּ לָ/רֹ֖ב בְּ/קֶ֥רֶב הָ/אָֽרֶץ
And when Ioseph saw that his father laide his right hand vpon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him: and he held vp his fathers hand, to remoue it from Ephraims head, vnto Manassehs head.
GenevaBut when Ioseph sawe that his father layde his right hande vpon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him: and he stayed his fathers hand to remooue it from Ephraims head to Manassehs head.
וַ/יַּ֣רְא יוֹסֵ֗ף כִּי יָשִׁ֨ית אָבִ֧י/ו יַד יְמִינ֛/וֹ עַל רֹ֥אשׁ אֶפְרַ֖יִם וַ/יֵּ֣רַע בְּ/עֵינָ֑י/ו וַ/יִּתְמֹ֣ךְ יַד אָבִ֗י/ו לְ/הָסִ֥יר אֹתָ֛/הּ מֵ/עַ֥ל רֹאשׁ אֶפְרַ֖יִם עַל רֹ֥אשׁ מְנַשֶּֽׁה
And Ioseph saide vnto his father, Not so my father: for this is the first borne; put thy right hand vpon his head.
GenevaAnd Ioseph sayde vnto his father, Not so, my father, for this is the eldest: put thy right hand vpon his head.
וַ/יֹּ֧אמֶר יוֹסֵ֛ף אֶל אָבִ֖י/ו לֹא כֵ֣ן אָבִ֑/י כִּי זֶ֣ה הַ/בְּכֹ֔ר שִׂ֥ים יְמִינְ/ךָ֖ עַל רֹאשֽׁ/וֹ
And his father refused, and said, I know it, my sonne, I know it: he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truely his yonger brother shall be greater then he; and his seede shall become a multitude of nations.
GenevaBut his father refused, and sayd, I know well, my sonne, I know well: he shalbe also a people, and he shalbe great likewise: but his yonger brother shalbe greater then he, and his seede shall be full of nations.
וַ/יְמָאֵ֣ן אָבִ֗י/ו וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר֙ יָדַ֤עְתִּֽי בְנִ/י֙ יָדַ֔עְתִּי גַּם ה֥וּא יִֽהְיֶה לְּ/עָ֖ם וְ/גַם ה֣וּא יִגְדָּ֑ל וְ/אוּלָ֗ם אָחִ֤י/ו הַ/קָּטֹן֙ יִגְדַּ֣ל מִמֶּ֔/נּוּ וְ/זַרְע֖/וֹ יִהְיֶ֥ה מְלֹֽא הַ/גּוֹיִֽם
And he blessed them that day, saying, In thee shall Israel blesse, saying, God make thee as Ephraim, and as Manasseh: and he set Ephraim before Manasseh.
GenevaSo he blessed them that day, and sayde, In thee Israel shall blesse, and say, God make thee as Ephraim and as Manasseh. and he set Ephraim before Manasseh.
וַ/יְבָ֨רֲכֵ֜/ם בַּ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/הוּא֮ לֵ/אמוֹר֒ בְּ/ךָ֗ יְבָרֵ֤ךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ לֵ/אמֹ֔ר יְשִֽׂמְ/ךָ֣ אֱלֹהִ֔ים כְּ/אֶפְרַ֖יִם וְ/כִ/מְנַשֶּׁ֑ה וַ/יָּ֥שֶׂם אֶת אֶפְרַ֖יִם לִ/פְנֵ֥י מְנַשֶּֽׁה
And Israel saide vnto Ioseph, Behold, I die: but God shall be with you, and bring you againe vnto the land of your fathers.
GenevaThen Israel said vnto Ioseph, Behold, I die, and God shall be with you, and bring you againe vnto the land of your fathers.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אֶל יוֹסֵ֔ף הִנֵּ֥ה אָנֹכִ֖י מֵ֑ת וְ/הָיָ֤ה אֱלֹהִים֙ עִמָּ/כֶ֔ם וְ/הֵשִׁ֣יב אֶתְ/כֶ֔ם אֶל אֶ֖רֶץ אֲבֹתֵי/כֶֽם
Moreouer I haue giuen to thee one portion aboue thy brethren, which I tooke out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword, and with my bow.
GenevaMoreouer, I haue giuen vnto thee one portion aboue thy brethren, which I gate out of the hand of the Amorite by my sworde and by my bowe.
וַ/אֲנִ֞י נָתַ֧תִּֽי לְ/ךָ֛ שְׁכֶ֥ם אַחַ֖ד עַל אַחֶ֑י/ךָ אֲשֶׁ֤ר לָקַ֨חְתִּי֙ מִ/יַּ֣ד הָֽ/אֱמֹרִ֔י בְּ/חַרְבִּ֖/י וּ/בְ/קַשְׁתִּֽ/י
