מַשָּׂ֖א בָּבֶ֑ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר חָזָ֔ה יְשַׁעְיָ֖הוּ בֶּן אָמֽוֹץ

Lift yee vp a banner vpon the high mountaine, exalt the voice vnto them, shake the hand, that they may goe into the gates of the nobles.

עַ֤ל הַר נִשְׁפֶּה֙ שְֽׂאוּ נֵ֔ס הָרִ֥ימוּ ק֖וֹל לָ/הֶ֑ם הָנִ֣יפוּ יָ֔ד וְ/יָבֹ֖אוּ פִּתְחֵ֥י נְדִיבִֽים

I haue commanded my sanctified ones: I haue also called my mightie ones for mine anger, euen them that reioyce in my highnesse.

GenevaI haue commanded them, that I haue sanctified: and I haue called ye mightie to my wrath, and them that reioyce in my glorie.

אֲנִ֥י צִוֵּ֖יתִי לִ/מְקֻדָּשָׁ֑/י גַּ֣ם קָרָ֤אתִי גִבּוֹרַ/י֙ לְ/אַפִּ֔/י עַלִּיזֵ֖י גַּאֲוָתִֽ/י

The noise of a multitude in the mountaines, like as of a great people: a tumultuous noise of the kingdomes of nations gathered together: the LORD of hostes mustereth the hoste of the battell.

ק֥וֹל הָמ֛וֹן בֶּֽ/הָרִ֖ים דְּמ֣וּת עַם רָ֑ב ק֠וֹל שְׁא֞וֹן מַמְלְכ֤וֹת גּוֹיִם֙ נֶֽאֱסָפִ֔ים יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת מְפַקֵּ֖ד צְבָ֥א מִלְחָמָֽה

They come from a farre countrey from the end of heauen, euen the LORD and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.

בָּאִ֛ים מֵ/אֶ֥רֶץ מֶרְחָ֖ק מִ/קְצֵ֣ה הַ/שָּׁמָ֑יִם יְהוָה֙ וּ/כְלֵ֣י זַעְמ֔/וֹ לְ/חַבֵּ֖ל כָּל הָ/אָֽרֶץ

¶ Howle yee; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.

GenevaHowle you, for the day of the Lord is at hande: it shall come as a destroier from the Almightie.

הֵילִ֕ילוּ כִּ֥י קָר֖וֹב י֣וֹם יְהוָ֑ה כְּ/שֹׁ֖ד מִ/שַּׁדַּ֥י יָבֽוֹא

Therefore shall all hands bee faint, and euery mans heart shall melt.

GenevaTherefore shall all hands be weakened, and all mens hearts shall melt,

עַל כֵּ֖ן כָּל יָדַ֣יִם תִּרְפֶּ֑ינָה וְ/כָל לְבַ֥ב אֱנ֖וֹשׁ יִמָּס

And they shalbe afraid: pangs and sorrowes shall take hold of them, they shalbe in paine as a woman that trauelleth: they shalbe amazed one at another, their faces shalbe as flames.

GenevaAnd they shalbe afraid: anguish and sorowe shall take them, and they shall haue paine, as a woman that trauaileth: euery one shall be amased at his neighbour, and their faces shalbe like flames of fire.

וְֽ/נִבְהָ֓לוּ צִירִ֤ים וַֽ/חֲבָלִים֙ יֹֽאחֵז֔וּ/ן כַּ/יּוֹלֵדָ֖ה יְחִיל֑וּ/ן אִ֤ישׁ אֶל רֵעֵ֨/הוּ֙ יִתְמָ֔הוּ פְּנֵ֥י לְהָבִ֖ים פְּנֵי/הֶֽם

Behold, the day of the LORD commeth, cruell both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate; and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.

הִנֵּ֤ה יוֹם יְהוָה֙ בָּ֔א אַכְזָרִ֥י וְ/עֶבְרָ֖ה וַ/חֲר֣וֹן אָ֑ף לָ/שׂ֤וּם הָ/אָ֨רֶץ֙ לְ/שַׁמָּ֔ה וְ/חַטָּאֶ֖י/הָ יַשְׁמִ֥יד מִמֶּֽ/נָּה

For the starres of heauen, and the constellations thereof shall not giue their light: the sunne shalbe darkened in his going forth, and the moone shall not cause her light to shine.

כִּֽי כוֹכְבֵ֤י הַ/שָּׁמַ֨יִם֙ וּ/כְסִ֣ילֵי/הֶ֔ם לֹ֥א יָהֵ֖לּוּ אוֹרָ֑/ם חָשַׁ֤ךְ הַ/שֶּׁ֨מֶשׁ֙ בְּ/צֵאת֔/וֹ וְ/יָרֵ֖חַ לֹֽא יַגִּ֥יהַ אוֹרֽ/וֹ

And I will punish the world for their euill, and the wicked for their iniquitie; and I will cause the arrogancie of the proud to cease, and will lay low the hautinesse of the terrible.

וּ/פָקַדְתִּ֤י עַל תֵּבֵל֙ רָעָ֔ה וְ/עַל רְשָׁעִ֖ים עֲוֺנָ֑/ם וְ/הִשְׁבַּתִּי֙ גְּא֣וֹן זֵדִ֔ים וְ/גַאֲוַ֥ת עָרִיצִ֖ים אַשְׁפִּֽיל

I will make a man more pretious then fine gold; euen a man then the golden wedge of Ophir.

אוֹקִ֥יר אֱנ֖וֹשׁ מִ/פָּ֑ז וְ/אָדָ֖ם מִ/כֶּ֥תֶם אוֹפִֽיר

Therefore I will shake the heauens, and the earth shall remoue out of her place in the wrath of the LORD of hostes, and in the day of his fierce anger.

עַל כֵּן֙ שָׁמַ֣יִם אַרְגִּ֔יז וְ/תִרְעַ֥שׁ הָ/אָ֖רֶץ מִ/מְּקוֹמָ֑/הּ בְּ/עֶבְרַת֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת וּ/בְ/י֖וֹם חֲר֥וֹן אַפּֽ/וֹ

And it shalbe as the chased Roe, and as a sheepe that no man taketh vp: they shall euery man turne to his owne people, and flee euery one into his owne land.

וְ/הָיָה֙ כִּ/צְבִ֣י מֻדָּ֔ח וּ/כְ/צֹ֖אן וְ/אֵ֣ין מְקַבֵּ֑ץ אִ֤ישׁ אֶל עַמּ/וֹ֙ יִפְנ֔וּ וְ/אִ֥ישׁ אֶל אַרְצ֖/וֹ יָנֽוּסוּ

Euery one that is found shall be thrust through: and euery one that is ioyned vnto them, shall fall by the sword.

כָּל הַ/נִּמְצָ֖א יִדָּקֵ֑ר וְ/כָל הַ/נִּסְפֶּ֖ה יִפּ֥וֹל בֶּ/חָֽרֶב

Their children also shalbe dashed to pieces before their eyes, their houses shalbe spoiled, & their wiues rauished.

וְ/עֹלְלֵי/הֶ֥ם יְרֻטְּשׁ֖וּ לְ/עֵֽינֵי/הֶ֑ם יִשַּׁ֨סּוּ֙ בָּֽתֵּי/הֶ֔ם וּ/נְשֵׁי/הֶ֖ם תשגלנה

Beholde, I will stirre vp the Medes against them, which shall not regard siluer, and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.

הִנְ/נִ֛י מֵעִ֥יר עֲלֵי/הֶ֖ם אֶת מָדָ֑י אֲשֶׁר כֶּ֨סֶף֙ לֹ֣א יַחְשֹׁ֔בוּ וְ/זָהָ֖ב לֹ֥א יַחְפְּצוּ בֽ/וֹ

Their bowes also shall dash the yong men to pieces, and they shall haue no pitie on the fruit of the wombe; their eye shall not spare children.

וּ/קְשָׁת֖וֹת נְעָרִ֣ים תְּרַטַּ֑שְׁנָה וּ/פְרִי בֶ֨טֶן֙ לֹ֣א יְרַחֵ֔מוּ עַל בָּנִ֖ים לֹֽא תָח֥וּס עֵינָֽ/ם

¶ And Babylon the glory of kingdomes, the beautie of the Chaldees excellencie, shall be as when God ouerthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

GenevaAnd Babel the glorie of kingdomes, the beautie and pride of the Chaldeans, shall be as the destruction of God in Sodom and Gomorah.

וְ/הָיְתָ֤ה בָבֶל֙ צְבִ֣י מַמְלָכ֔וֹת תִּפְאֶ֖רֶת גְּא֣וֹן כַּשְׂדִּ֑ים כְּ/מַהְפֵּכַ֣ת אֱלֹהִ֔ים אֶת סְדֹ֖ם וְ/אֶת עֲמֹרָֽה

It shall neuer be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there, neither shal the shepheards make their fold there.

לֹֽא תֵשֵׁ֣ב לָ/נֶ֔צַח וְ/לֹ֥א תִשְׁכֹּ֖ן עַד דּ֣וֹר וָ/ד֑וֹר וְ/לֹֽא יַהֵ֥ל שָׁם֙ עֲרָבִ֔י וְ/רֹעִ֖ים לֹא יַרְבִּ֥צוּ שָֽׁם

But wilde beastes of the desert shall lye there, and their houses shalbe full of dolefull creatures, and owles shall dwell there, and Satyres shall daunce there.

GenevaBut Ziim shall lodge there, and their houses shall be ful of Ohim: Ostriches shall dwel there, and the Satyrs shall dance there.

וְ/רָבְצוּ שָׁ֣ם צִיִּ֔ים וּ/מָלְא֥וּ בָתֵּי/הֶ֖ם אֹחִ֑ים וְ/שָׁ֤כְנוּ שָׁם֙ בְּנ֣וֹת יַֽעֲנָ֔ה וּ/שְׂעִירִ֖ים יְרַקְּדוּ שָֽׁם

And the wilde beastes of the Ilands shal cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is neere to come, and her dayes shall not be prolonged.

GenevaAnd Iim shall crie in their palaces, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and the time thereof is readie to come, and the daies thereof shall not be prolonged.

וְ/עָנָ֤ה אִיִּים֙ בְּ/אַלְמנוֹתָ֔י/ו וְ/תַנִּ֖ים בְּ/הֵ֣יכְלֵי עֹ֑נֶג וְ/קָר֤וֹב לָ/בוֹא֙ עִתָּ֔/הּ וְ/יָמֶ֖י/הָ לֹ֥א יִמָּשֵֽׁכוּ
