Isaiah 41
Keepe silence before me, O ylands, and let the people renew their strength: let them come neere, then let them speake: let vs come neere together to iudgement.

הַחֲרִ֤ישׁוּ אֵלַ/י֙ אִיִּ֔ים וּ/לְאֻמִּ֖ים יַחֲלִ֣יפוּ כֹ֑חַ יִגְּשׁוּ֙ אָ֣ז יְדַבֵּ֔רוּ יַחְדָּ֖ו לַ/מִּשְׁפָּ֥ט נִקְרָֽבָה
Who raised vp the righteous man from the East, called him to his foote, gaue the nations before him, and made him rule ouer kings? Hee gaue them as the dust to his sword, and as driuen stuble to his bow.
GenevaWho raised vp iustice from the East, and called him to his foote? and gaue the nations before him, and subdued the Kings? he gaue them as dust to his sword, and as scattered stubble vnto his bowe.
מִ֤י הֵעִיר֙ מִ/מִּזְרָ֔ח צֶ֖דֶק יִקְרָאֵ֣/הוּ לְ/רַגְל֑/וֹ יִתֵּ֨ן לְ/פָנָ֤י/ו גּוֹיִם֙ וּ/מְלָכִ֣ים יַ֔רְדְּ יִתֵּ֤ן כֶּֽ/עָפָר֙ חַרְבּ֔/וֹ כְּ/קַ֥שׁ נִדָּ֖ף קַשְׁתּֽ/וֹ
He pursued them, and passed safely; euen by the way, that hee had not gone with his feete.

יִרְדְּפֵ֖/ם יַעֲב֣וֹר שָׁל֑וֹם אֹ֥רַח בְּ/רַגְלָ֖י/ו לֹ֥א יָבֽוֹא
Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD the first, and with the last, I am he.

מִֽי פָעַ֣ל וְ/עָשָׂ֔ה קֹרֵ֥א הַ/דֹּר֖וֹת מֵ/רֹ֑אשׁ אֲנִ֤י יְהוָה֙ רִאשׁ֔וֹן וְ/אֶת אַחֲרֹנִ֖ים אֲנִי הֽוּא
The yles saw it and feared, the ends of the earth were afraid, drew neere, and came.
GenevaThe yles sawe it, and did feare, and the ends of the earth were abashed, drew neere, and came.
רָא֤וּ אִיִּים֙ וְ/יִירָ֔אוּ קְצ֥וֹת הָ/אָ֖רֶץ יֶחֱרָ֑דוּ קָרְב֖וּ וַ/יֶּאֱתָיֽוּ/ן
They helped euery one his neighbour, and euery one sayd to his brother, Be of good courage.
GenevaEuery man helped his neighbour, and saide to his brother, Be strong.
אִ֥ישׁ אֶת רֵעֵ֖/הוּ יַעְזֹ֑רוּ וּ/לְ/אָחִ֖י/ו יֹאמַ֥ר חֲזָֽק
So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anuill, saying; It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nayles that it should not be moued.
GenevaSo the workeman comforted the founder, and he that smote with ye hammer, him that smote by course, saying, It is ready for the sodering, and he fastened it with nayles that it shoulde not be mooued.
וַ/יְחַזֵּ֤ק חָרָשׁ֙ אֶת צֹרֵ֔ף מַחֲלִ֥יק פַּטִּ֖ישׁ אֶת ה֣וֹלֶם פָּ֑עַם אֹמֵ֤ר לַ/דֶּ֨בֶק֙ ט֣וֹב ה֔וּא וַ/יְחַזְּקֵ֥/הוּ בְ/מַסְמְרִ֖ים לֹ֥א יִמּֽוֹט
But thou Israel, art my seruant, Iacob whom I haue chosen, the seede of Abraham my friend.

וְ/אַתָּה֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל עַבְדִּ֔/י יַעֲקֹ֖ב אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּחַרְתִּ֑י/ךָ זֶ֖רַע אַבְרָהָ֥ם אֹהֲבִֽ/י
Thou whom I haue taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chiefe men thereof, and sayd vnto thee; Thou art my seruant, I haue chosen thee, and not cast thee away.
GenevaFor I haue taken thee from the endes of the earth, and called thee before the chiefe thereof, and saide vnto thee, Thou art my seruant: I haue chosen thee, and not cast thee away.
אֲשֶׁ֤ר הֶחֱזַקְתִּ֨י/ךָ֙ מִ/קְצ֣וֹת הָ/אָ֔רֶץ וּ/מֵ/אֲצִילֶ֖י/הָ קְרָאתִ֑י/ךָ וָ/אֹ֤מַר לְ/ךָ֙ עַבְדִּ/י אַ֔תָּה בְּחַרְתִּ֖י/ךָ וְ/לֹ֥א מְאַסְתִּֽי/ךָ
¶ Feare thou not, for I am with thee: be not dismaied, for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee, yea I will helpe thee, yea I will vphold thee with the right hand of my righteousnesse.

אַל תִּירָא֙ כִּ֣י עִמְּ/ךָ אָ֔נִי אַל תִּשְׁתָּ֖ע כִּֽי אֲנִ֣י אֱלֹהֶ֑י/ךָ אִמַּצְתִּ֨י/ךָ֙ אַף עֲזַרְתִּ֔י/ךָ אַף תְּמַכְתִּ֖י/ךָ בִּ/ימִ֥ין צִדְקִֽ/י
Behold, all they that were incensed against thee, shalbe ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing, and they that striue with thee, shall perish.

הֵ֤ן יֵבֹ֨שׁוּ֙ וְ/יִכָּ֣לְמ֔וּ כֹּ֖ל הַ/נֶּחֱרִ֣ים בָּ֑/ךְ יִֽהְי֥וּ כְ/אַ֛יִן וְ/יֹאבְד֖וּ אַנְשֵׁ֥י רִיבֶֽ/ךָ
Thou shalt seeke them, and shalt not find them, euen them that contended with thee: they that warre against thee shalbe as nothing, and as a thing of nought.

תְּבַקְשֵׁ/ם֙ וְ/לֹ֣א תִמְצָאֵ֔/ם אַנְשֵׁ֖י מַצֻּתֶ֑/ךָ יִהְי֥וּ כְ/אַ֛יִן וּ/כְ/אֶ֖פֶס אַנְשֵׁ֥י מִלְחַמְתֶּֽ/ךָ
For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying vnto thee, Feare not, I will helpe thee.

כִּ֗י אֲנִ֛י יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖י/ךָ מַחֲזִ֣יק יְמִינֶ֑/ךָ הָ/אֹמֵ֥ר לְ/ךָ֛ אַל תִּירָ֖א אֲנִ֥י עֲזַרְתִּֽי/ךָ
Feare not, thou worme Iacob, and ye men of Israel: I will helpe thee, saith the LORD, and thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

אַל תִּֽירְאִי֙ תּוֹלַ֣עַת יַֽעֲקֹ֔ב מְתֵ֖י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אֲנִ֤י עֲזַרְתִּי/ךְ֙ נְאֻם יְהוָ֔ה וְ/גֹאֲלֵ֖/ךְ קְד֥וֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל
Behold, I will make thee a new sharpe threshing instrument hauing teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountaines, and beate them small, and shalt make the hilles as chaffe.

הִנֵּ֣ה שַׂמְתִּ֗י/ךְ לְ/מוֹרַג֙ חָר֣וּץ חָדָ֔שׁ בַּ֖עַל פִּֽיפִיּ֑וֹת תָּד֤וּשׁ הָרִים֙ וְ/תָדֹ֔ק וּ/גְבָע֖וֹת כַּ/מֹּ֥ץ תָּשִֽׂים
Thou shalt fanne them, and the winde shall carie them away, and the whirlewinde shall scatter them: and thou shalt reioyce in the LORD, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.

תִּזְרֵ/ם֙ וְ/ר֣וּחַ תִּשָּׂאֵ֔/ם וּ/סְעָרָ֖ה תָּפִ֣יץ אוֹתָ֑/ם וְ/אַתָּה֙ תָּגִ֣יל בַּֽ/יהוָ֔ה בִּ/קְד֥וֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל תִּתְהַלָּֽל
When the poore and needie seeke water and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will heare them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.

הָ/עֲנִיִּ֨ים וְ/הָ/אֶבְיוֹנִ֜ים מְבַקְשִׁ֥ים מַ֨יִם֙ וָ/אַ֔יִן לְשׁוֹנָ֖/ם בַּ/צָּמָ֣א נָשָׁ֑תָּה אֲנִ֤י יְהוָה֙ אֶעֱנֵ֔/ם אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֹ֥א אֶעֶזְבֵֽ/ם
I will open riuers in hie places, and fountaines in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wildernesse a poole of water, and the dry land springs of water.
GenevaI will open riuers in the toppes of the hils, and fountaines in the middes of the valleis: I will make the wildernesse as a poole of water, and the waste land as springs of water.
אֶפְתַּ֤ח עַל שְׁפָיִים֙ נְהָר֔וֹת וּ/בְ/ת֥וֹךְ בְּקָע֖וֹת מַעְיָנ֑וֹת אָשִׂ֤ים מִדְבָּר֙ לַ/אֲגַם מַ֔יִם וְ/אֶ֥רֶץ צִיָּ֖ה לְ/מוֹצָ֥אֵי מָֽיִם
I will plant in the wildernes the Cedar, the Shittah tree, and the Myrtle, and the Oyle tree: I will set in the desert the Firre tree, and the Pine and the Boxe tree together:
GenevaI will set in the wildernesse the cedar, the shittah tree, and the mirre tree, and the pine tree, and I will set in the wildernesse the firre tree, the elme and the boxe tree together.
אֶתֵּ֤ן בַּ/מִּדְבָּר֙ אֶ֣רֶז שִׁטָּ֔ה וַ/הֲדַ֖ס וְ/עֵ֣ץ שָׁ֑מֶן אָשִׂ֣ים בָּ/עֲרָבָ֗ה בְּר֛וֹשׁ תִּדְהָ֥ר וּ/תְאַשּׁ֖וּר יַחְדָּֽו
That they may see, and knowe, and consider, and vnderstand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.
GenevaTherefore let them see and knowe, and let them consider and vnderstande together that the hand of the Lord hath done this, and the holy one of Israel hath created it.
לְמַ֧עַן יִרְא֣וּ וְ/יֵדְע֗וּ וְ/יָשִׂ֤ימוּ וְ/יַשְׂכִּ֨ילוּ֙ יַחְדָּ֔ו כִּ֥י יַד יְהוָ֖ה עָ֣שְׂתָה זֹּ֑את וּ/קְד֥וֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בְּרָאָֽ/הּ
Produce your cause, saith the LORD, bring foorth your strong reasons, saith the King of Iacob.

קָרְב֥וּ רִֽיבְ/כֶ֖ם יֹאמַ֣ר יְהוָ֑ה הַגִּ֨ישׁוּ֙ עֲצֻמ֣וֹתֵי/כֶ֔ם יֹאמַ֖ר מֶ֥לֶךְ יַעֲקֹֽב
Let them bring them foorth, and shew vs what shall happen: let them shew the former things what they bee, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them, or declare vs things for to come.

יַגִּ֨ישׁוּ֙ וְ/יַגִּ֣ידוּ לָ֔/נוּ אֵ֖ת אֲשֶׁ֣ר תִּקְרֶ֑ינָה הָ/רִאשֹׁנ֣וֹת מָ֣ה הֵ֗נָּה הַגִּ֜ידוּ וְ/נָשִׂ֤ימָה לִבֵּ֨/נוּ֙ וְ/נֵדְעָ֣ה אַחֲרִיתָ֔/ן א֥וֹ הַ/בָּא֖וֹת הַשְׁמִיעֻֽ/נוּ
Shewe the things that are to come hereafter, that wee may knowe that ye are gods: yea doe good or doe euill, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.

Behold, ye are of nothing, and your worke of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you.

הֵן אַתֶּ֣ם מֵ/אַ֔יִן וּ/פָעָלְ/כֶ֖ם מֵ/אָ֑פַע תּוֹעֵבָ֖ה יִבְחַ֥ר בָּ/כֶֽם
I haue raised vp one from the North, and he shall come: from the rising of the Sunne shall he call vpon my name, and he shall come vpon princes as vpon morter, and as the potter treadeth clay.

הַעִיר֤וֹתִי מִ/צָּפוֹן֙ וַ/יַּ֔את מִ/מִּזְרַח שֶׁ֖מֶשׁ יִקְרָ֣א בִ/שְׁמִ֑/י וְ/יָבֹ֤א סְגָנִים֙ כְּמוֹ חֹ֔מֶר וּ/כְמ֥וֹ יוֹצֵ֖ר יִרְמָס טִֽיט
Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and before time, that we may say, He is righteous? yea there is none that sheweth, yea there is none that declareth, yea there is none that heareth your words.

מִֽי הִגִּ֤יד מֵ/רֹאשׁ֙ וְ/נֵדָ֔עָה וּ/מִ/לְּ/פָנִ֖ים וְ/נֹאמַ֣ר צַדִּ֑יק אַ֣ף אֵין מַגִּ֗יד אַ֚ף אֵ֣ין מַשְׁמִ֔יעַ אַ֥ף אֵין שֹׁמֵ֖עַ אִמְרֵי/כֶֽם
The first shall say to Zion, Behold, behold them, and I will giue to Ierusalem one that bringeth good tidings.

רִאשׁ֥וֹן לְ/צִיּ֖וֹן הִנֵּ֣ה הִנָּ֑/ם וְ/לִ/ירוּשָׁלִַ֖ם מְבַשֵּׂ֥ר אֶתֵּֽן
For I behelde, and there was no man, euen amongst them, and there was no counseller, that when I asked of them, could answere a word.
GenevaBut when I behelde, there was none, and when I inquired of them, there was no counsellor, and when I demaunded of them, they answered not a woorde.
וְ/אֵ֨רֶא֙ וְ/אֵ֣ין אִ֔ישׁ וּ/מֵ/אֵ֖לֶּה וְ/אֵ֣ין יוֹעֵ֑ץ וְ/אֶשְׁאָלֵ֖/ם וְ/יָשִׁ֥יבוּ דָבָֽר
Behold, they are all vanitie, their works are nothing: their moulten images are winde and confusion.

הֵ֣ן כֻּלָּ֔/ם אָ֥וֶן אֶ֖פֶס מַעֲשֵׂי/הֶ֑ם ר֥וּחַ וָ/תֹ֖הוּ נִסְכֵּי/הֶֽם
