Isaiah 46

Bel boweth downe, Nebo stoupeth, their idoles were vpon the beasts, and vpon the cattell: your carriages were heauie loaden, they are a burden to the wearie beast.

GenevaBel is bowed downe: Nebo is fallen: their idoles were vpon the beastes, and vpon the cattell: they which did beare you, were laden with a wearie burden.

כָּרַ֥ע בֵּל֙ קֹרֵ֣ס נְב֔וֹ הָיוּ֙ עֲצַבֵּי/הֶ֔ם לַ/חַיָּ֖ה וְ/לַ/בְּהֵמָ֑ה נְשֻׂאֹתֵי/כֶ֣ם עֲמוּס֔וֹת מַשָּׂ֖א לַ/עֲיֵפָֽה

They stoupe, they bow downe together, they could not deliuer the burden, but themselues are gone into captiuitie.

GenevaThey are bowed downe, and fallen together: for they coulde not rid them of the burden, and their soule is gone into captiuitie.

קָרְס֤וּ כָֽרְעוּ֙ יַחְדָּ֔ו לֹ֥א יָכְל֖וּ מַלֵּ֣ט מַשָּׂ֑א וְ/נַפְשָׁ֖/ם בַּ/שְּׁבִ֥י הָלָֽכָה

¶ Hearken vnto me, O house of Iacob, and al the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne by me, from the belly, which are caried from the wombe.

GenevaHeare ye me, O house of Iaakob, and all that remaine of the house of Israel, which are borne of me from the wombe, and brought vp of me from the birth.

שִׁמְע֤וּ אֵלַ/י֙ בֵּ֣ית יַעֲקֹ֔ב וְ/כָל שְׁאֵרִ֖ית בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל הַֽ/עֲמֻסִים֙ מִנִּי בֶ֔טֶן הַ/נְּשֻׂאִ֖ים מִנִּי רָֽחַם

And euen to your old age I am he, and euen to hoare haires will I cary you: I haue made, and I will beare, euen I wil cary and wil deliuer you.

GenevaTherefore vnto olde age, I the same, euen I will beare you vntill the hoare heares: I haue made you: I will also beare you, and I will cary you and I will deliuer you.

וְ/עַד זִקְנָה֙ אֲנִ֣י ה֔וּא וְ/עַד שֵיבָ֖ה אֲנִ֣י אֶסְבֹּ֑ל אֲנִ֤י עָשִׂ֨יתִי֙ וַ/אֲנִ֣י אֶשָּׂ֔א וַ/אֲנִ֥י אֶסְבֹּ֖ל וַ/אֲמַלֵּֽט

¶ To whom wil ye liken me, and make me equall, and compare me, that we may be like?

GenevaTo whom will ye make me like or make me equall, or copare me, that I should be like him?

לְ/מִ֥י תְדַמְי֖וּ/נִי וְ/תַשְׁו֑וּ וְ/תַמְשִׁל֖וּ/נִי וְ/נִדְמֶֽה

They lauish gold out of the bagge, and weigh siluer in the balance, and hire a goldsmith, and hee maketh it a god: they fall downe, yea they worship.

GenevaThey draw gold out of the bagge and weigh siluer in the balance, and hire a goldsmith to make a god of it, and they bowe downe, and worship it.

הַ/זָּלִ֤ים זָהָב֙ מִ/כִּ֔יס וְ/כֶ֖סֶף בַּ/קָּנֶ֣ה יִשְׁקֹ֑לוּ יִשְׂכְּר֤וּ צוֹרֵף֙ וְ/יַעֲשֵׂ֣/הוּ אֵ֔ל יִסְגְּד֖וּ אַף יִֽשְׁתַּחֲוּֽוּ

They beare him vpon the shoulder, they cary him and set him in his place, and hee standeth; from his place shall he not remooue: yea one shall cry vnto him, yet can he not answere, nor saue him out of his trouble.

GenevaThey beare it vpon the shoulders: they carie him and set him in his place: so doeth he stand, and cannot remoue from his place. Though one crie vnto him, yet can he not answere, nor deliuer him out of his tribulation.

יִ֠שָּׂאֻ/הוּ עַל כָּתֵ֨ף יִסְבְּלֻ֜/הוּ וְ/יַנִּיחֻ֤/הוּ תַחְתָּי/ו֙ וְ/יַֽעֲמֹ֔ד מִ/מְּקוֹמ֖/וֹ לֹ֣א יָמִ֑ישׁ אַף יִצְעַ֤ק אֵלָי/ו֙ וְ/לֹ֣א יַעֲנֶ֔ה מִ/צָּרָת֖/וֹ לֹ֥א יוֹשִׁיעֶֽ/נּוּ

Remember this, and shew your selues men: bring it againe to minde, O ye transgressours.

GenevaRemember this, and be ashamed: bring it againe to minde, O you transgressers.

זִכְרוּ זֹ֖את וְ/הִתְאֹשָׁ֑שׁוּ הָשִׁ֥יבוּ פוֹשְׁעִ֖ים עַל לֵֽב

Remember the former things of old, for I am God, and there is none else, I am God, and there is none like me,

זִכְר֥וּ רִאשֹׁנ֖וֹת מֵ/עוֹלָ֑ם כִּ֣י אָנֹכִ֥י אֵל֙ וְ/אֵ֣ין ע֔וֹד אֱלֹהִ֖ים וְ/אֶ֥פֶס כָּמֽוֹ/נִי

Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsell shall stand, and I wil doe all my pleasure:

GenevaWhich declare the last thing from the beginning: and from of olde, the things that were not done, saying, My counsell shall stand, and I will doe whatsoeuer I will.

מַגִּ֤יד מֵֽ/רֵאשִׁית֙ אַחֲרִ֔ית וּ/מִ/קֶּ֖דֶם אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹא נַעֲשׂ֑וּ אֹמֵר֙ עֲצָתִ֣/י תָק֔וּם וְ/כָל חֶפְצִ֖/י אֶעֱשֶֽׂה

Calling a rauenous bird from the East, the man that executeth my counsell from a farre countrey; yea I haue spoken it, I will also bring it to passe, I haue purposed it, I will also doe it.

GenevaI call a birde from the East, and the man of my counsell from farre: as I haue spoken, so will I bring it to passe: I haue purposed it, and I will doe it.

קֹרֵ֤א מִ/מִּזְרָח֙ עַ֔יִט מֵ/אֶ֥רֶץ מֶרְחָ֖ק אִ֣ישׁ עצת/ו אַף דִּבַּ֨רְתִּי֙ אַף אֲבִיאֶ֔/נָּה יָצַ֖רְתִּי אַף אֶעֱשֶֽׂ/נָּה

¶ Hearken vnto me, ye stout hearted, that are farre from righteousnesse.

GenevaHeare me, ye stubburne hearted, that are farre from iustice.

שִׁמְע֥וּ אֵלַ֖/י אַבִּ֣ירֵי לֵ֑ב הָ/רְחוֹקִ֖ים מִ/צְּדָקָֽה

I bring neere my righteousnesse: it shall not bee farre off, and my saluation shall not tarie; and I wil place saluation in Zion for Israel my glorie.

GenevaI bring neere my iustice: it shall not be farre off, and my saluation shall not tarie: for I wil giue saluation in Zion, and my glory vnto Israel.

קֵרַ֤בְתִּי צִדְקָתִ/י֙ לֹ֣א תִרְחָ֔ק וּ/תְשׁוּעָתִ֖/י לֹ֣א תְאַחֵ֑ר וְ/נָתַתִּ֤י בְ/צִיּוֹן֙ תְּשׁוּעָ֔ה לְ/יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל תִּפְאַרְתִּֽ/י
