Job 29

Moreouer Iob continued his parable, and said,

GenevaSo Iob proceeded and continued his parable, saying,

וַ/יֹּ֣סֶף אִ֭יּוֹב שְׂאֵ֥ת מְשָׁל֗/וֹ וַ/יֹּאמַֽר

O that I were as in moneths past, as in the dayes when God preserued me.

GenevaOh that I were as in times past, when God preserued me!

מִֽי יִתְּנֵ֥/נִי כְ/יַרְחֵי קֶ֑דֶם כִּ֝/ימֵ֗י אֱל֣וֹהַּ יִשְׁמְרֵֽ/נִי

When his candle shined vpon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkenesse:

בְּ/הִלּ֣/וֹ נֵ֭ר/וֹ עֲלֵ֣י רֹאשִׁ֑/י לְ֝/אוֹר/וֹ אֵ֣לֶךְ חֹֽשֶׁךְ

As I was in the dayes of my youth, when the secret of God was vpon my tabernacle:

כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֣ר הָ֭יִיתִי בִּ/ימֵ֣י חָרְפִּ֑/י בְּ/ס֥וֹד אֱ֝ל֗וֹהַּ עֲלֵ֣י אָהֳלִֽ/י

When the Almightie was yet with me, when my children were about me:

בְּ/ע֣וֹד שַׁ֭דַּי עִמָּדִ֑/י סְבִ֖יבוֹתַ֣/י נְעָרָֽ/י

When I washed my steps with butter, and the rocke powred me out riuers of oyle:

בִּ/רְחֹ֣ץ הֲלִיכַ֣/י בְּ/חֵמָ֑ה וְ/צ֥וּר יָצ֥וּק עִ֝מָּדִ֗/י פַּלְגֵי שָֽׁמֶן

When I went out to the gate, through the citie, when I prepared my seate in the street.

בְּ/צֵ֣אתִ/י שַׁ֣עַר עֲלֵי קָ֑רֶת בָּ֝/רְח֗וֹב אָכִ֥ין מוֹשָׁבִֽ/י

The yong men saw me, and hid themselues: and the aged arose, and stood vp.

רָא֣וּ/נִי נְעָרִ֣ים וְ/נֶחְבָּ֑אוּ וִֽ֝/ישִׁישִׁים קָ֣מוּ עָמָֽדוּ

The princes refrained talking, and laid their hand on their mouth.

שָׂ֭רִים עָצְר֣וּ בְ/מִלִּ֑ים וְ֝/כַ֗ף יָשִׂ֥ימוּ לְ/פִי/הֶֽם

The Nobles held their peace, and their tongue cleaued to the roofe of their mouth.

קוֹל נְגִידִ֥ים נֶחְבָּ֑אוּ וּ֝/לְשׁוֹנָ֗/ם לְ/חִכָּ֥/ם דָּבֵֽקָה

When the eare heard mee, then it blessed me, and when the eye saw me, it gaue witnesse to me:

כִּ֤י אֹ֣זֶן שָׁ֭מְעָה וַֽ/תְּאַשְּׁרֵ֑/נִי וְ/עַ֥יִן רָ֝אֲתָ֗ה וַ/תְּעִידֵֽ/נִי

Because I deliuered the poore that cried, and the fatherlesse, and him that had none to helpe him.

כִּֽי אֲ֭מַלֵּט עָנִ֣י מְשַׁוֵּ֑עַ וְ֝/יָת֗וֹם וְֽ/לֹא עֹזֵ֥ר לֽ/וֹ

The blessing of him that was readie to perish, came vpon me: and I caused the widowes heart to sing for ioy.

בִּרְכַּ֣ת אֹ֭בֵד עָלַ֣/י תָּבֹ֑א וְ/לֵ֖ב אַלְמָנָ֣ה אַרְנִֽן

I put on righteousnesse, and it clothed me: my iudgement was as a robe and a diademe.

צֶ֣דֶק לָ֭בַשְׁתִּי וַ/יִּלְבָּשֵׁ֑/נִי כִּֽ/מְעִ֥יל וְ֝/צָנִ֗יף מִשְׁפָּטִֽ/י

I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame.

GenevaI was the eyes to the blinde, and I was the feete to the lame.

עֵינַ֣יִם הָ֭יִיתִי לַֽ/עִוֵּ֑ר וְ/רַגְלַ֖יִם לַ/פִּסֵּ֣חַ אָֽנִי

I was a father to the poore: and the cause which I knewe not, I searched out.

GenevaI was a father vnto the poore, and when I knewe not the cause, I sought it out diligently.

אָ֣ב אָ֭נֹכִֽי לָֽ/אֶבְיוֹנִ֑ים וְ/רִ֖ב לֹא יָדַ֣עְתִּי אֶחְקְרֵֽ/הוּ

And I brake the iawes of the wicked, and pluckt the spoile out of his teeth.

GenevaI brake also the chawes of the vnrighteous man, and pluckt the praye out of his teeth.

וָֽ֭/אֲשַׁבְּרָ/ה מְתַלְּע֣וֹת עַוָּ֑ל וּ֝/מִ/שִּׁנָּ֗י/ו אַשְׁלִ֥יךְ טָֽרֶף

Then I said, I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiplie my dayes as the sand.

וָ֭/אֹמַר עִם קִנִּ֣/י אֶגְוָ֑ע וְ֝/כַ/ח֗וֹל אַרְבֶּ֥ה יָמִֽים

My roote was spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night vpon my branch.

שָׁרְשִׁ֣/י פָת֣וּחַ אֱלֵי מָ֑יִם וְ֝/טַ֗ל יָלִ֥ין בִּ/קְצִירִֽ/י

My glory was fresh in mee, and my bow was renewed in my hand.

GenevaMy glory shall renue towarde me, and my bowe shall be restored in mine hand.

כְּ֭בוֹדִ/י חָדָ֣שׁ עִמָּדִ֑/י וְ֝/קַשְׁתִּ֗/י בְּ/יָדִ֥/י תַחֲלִֽיף

Unto me men gaue eare, and waited, and kept silence at my counsell.

GenevaVnto me men gaue eare, and wayted, and helde their tongue at my counsell.

לִֽ/י שָׁמְע֥וּ וְ/יִחֵ֑לּוּ וְ֝/יִדְּמ֗וּ לְמ֣וֹ עֲצָתִֽ/י

After my words they spake not againe, & my speach dropped vpon them,

GenevaAfter my wordes they replied not, and my talke dropped vpon them.

אַחֲרֵ֣י דְ֭בָרִ/י לֹ֣א יִשְׁנ֑וּ וְ֝/עָלֵ֗י/מוֹ תִּטֹּ֥ף מִלָּתִֽ/י

And they waited for me as for the raine, and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter raine.

GenevaAnd they wayted for me, as for the raine, and they opened their mouth as for the latter rayne.

וְ/יִֽחֲל֣וּ כַ/מָּטָ֣ר לִ֑/י וּ֝/פִי/הֶ֗ם פָּעֲר֥וּ לְ/מַלְקֽוֹשׁ

If I laughed on them, they beleeued it not, and the light of my countenance they cast not downe.

אֶשְׂחַ֣ק אֲ֭לֵ/הֶם לֹ֣א יַאֲמִ֑ינוּ וְ/א֥וֹר פָּ֝נַ֗/י לֹ֣א יַפִּילֽוּ/ן

I chose out their way, and sate chiefe, and dwelt as a king in the army, as one that comforteth the mourners.

אֶֽבֲחַ֣ר דַּרְכָּ/ם֮ וְ/אֵשֵׁ֪ב רֹ֥אשׁ וְ֭/אֶשְׁכּוֹן כְּ/מֶ֣לֶךְ בַּ/גְּד֑וּד כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֖ר אֲבֵלִ֣ים יְנַחֵֽם
