Jeremiah 6
O yee children of Beniamin, gather your selues to flee out of the middest of Ierusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa: and set vp a signe of fire in Beth-haccerem: for euill appeareth out of the North, and great destruction.

הָעִ֣זוּ בְּנֵ֣י בִניָמִ֗ן מִ/קֶּ֨רֶב֙ יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם וּ/בִ/תְק֨וֹעַ֙ תִּקְע֣וּ שׁוֹפָ֔ר וְ/עַל בֵּ֥ית הַכֶּ֖רֶם שְׂא֣וּ מַשְׂאֵ֑ת כִּ֥י רָעָ֛ה נִשְׁקְפָ֥ה מִ/צָּפ֖וֹן וְ/שֶׁ֥בֶר גָּדֽוֹל
I haue likened the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate woman.
GenevaI haue compared the daughter of Zion to a beautifull and daintie woman.
הַ/נָּוָה֙ וְ/הַ/מְּעֻנָּגָ֔ה דָּמִ֖יתִי בַּת צִיּֽוֹן
The shepheards with their flocks shall come vnto her: they shall pitch their tents against her round about: they shall feede, euery one in his place.

אֵלֶ֛י/הָ יָבֹ֥אוּ רֹעִ֖ים וְ/עֶדְרֵי/הֶ֑ם תָּקְע֨וּ עָלֶ֤י/הָ אֹהָלִים֙ סָבִ֔יב רָע֖וּ אִ֥ישׁ אֶת יָדֽ/וֹ
Prepare yee warre against her: arise, and let vs goe vp at noone: woe vnto vs, for the day goeth away, for the shadowes of the euening are stretched out.

קַדְּשׁ֤וּ עָלֶ֨י/הָ֙ מִלְחָמָ֔ה ק֖וּמוּ וְ/נַעֲלֶ֣ה בַֽ/צָּהֳרָ֑יִם א֥וֹי לָ֨/נוּ֙ כִּי פָנָ֣ה הַ/יּ֔וֹם כִּ֥י יִנָּט֖וּ צִלְלֵי עָֽרֶב
Arise, and let vs goe by night, and let vs destroy her palaces.

ק֚וּמוּ וְ/נַעֲלֶ֣ה בַ/לָּ֔יְלָה וְ/נַשְׁחִ֖יתָה אַרְמְנוֹתֶֽי/הָ
¶ For thus hath the LORD of hostes said; Hew yee downe trees and cast a mount against Ierusalem: this is the citie to be visited, she is wholly oppression in the midst of her.

כִּ֣י כֹ֤ה אָמַר֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת כִּרְת֣וּ עֵצָ֔ה וְ/שִׁפְכ֥וּ עַל יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם סֹלְלָ֑ה הִ֚יא הָ/עִ֣יר הָפְקַ֔ד כֻּלָּ֖/הּ עֹ֥שֶׁק בְּ/קִרְבָּֽ/הּ
As a fountaine casteth out her waters, so she casteth out her wickednesse: violence and spoile is heard in her, before me continually is griefe and wounds.

כְּ/הָקִ֥יר בור מֵימֶ֔י/הָ כֵּ֖ן הֵקֵ֣רָה רָעָתָ֑/הּ חָמָ֣ס וָ֠/שֹׁד יִשָּׁ֨מַע בָּ֧/הּ עַל פָּנַ֛/י תָּמִ֖יד חֳלִ֥י וּ/מַכָּֽה
Be thou instructed, O Ierusalem, lest my soule depart from thee: lest I make thee desolate, a lande not inhabited.

הִוָּסְרִי֙ יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם פֶּן תֵּקַ֥ע נַפְשִׁ֖/י מִמֵּ֑/ךְ פֶּן אֲשִׂימֵ֣/ךְ שְׁמָמָ֔ה אֶ֖רֶץ ל֥וֹא נוֹשָֽׁבָה
¶ Thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall throughly gleane the remnant of Israel as a vine: turne backe thine hand as a grape gatherer into the baskets.

כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ יְהֹוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת עוֹלֵ֛ל יְעוֹלְל֥וּ כַ/גֶּ֖פֶן שְׁאֵרִ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל הָשֵׁב֙ יָדְ/ךָ֔ כְּ/בוֹצֵ֖ר עַל סַלְסִלּֽוֹת
To whome shall I speake and giue warning, that they may heare? Behold, their eare is vncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: beholde, the word of the LORD is vnto them a reproch: they haue no delight in it.

עַל מִ֨י אֲדַבְּרָ֤ה וְ/אָעִ֨ידָה֙ וְ/יִשְׁמָ֔עוּ הִנֵּה֙ עֲרֵלָ֣ה אָזְנָ֔/ם וְ/לֹ֥א יוּכְל֖וּ לְ/הַקְשִׁ֑יב הִנֵּ֣ה דְבַר יְהוָ֗ה הָיָ֥ה לָ/הֶ֛ם לְ/חֶרְפָּ֖ה לֹ֥א יַחְפְּצוּ בֽ/וֹ
Therefore I am full of the furie of the LORD: I am weary with holding in: I will powre it out vpon the children abroad, and vpon the assembly of yong men together: for euen the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of dayes.

וְ/אֵת֩ חֲמַ֨ת יְהוָ֤ה מָלֵ֨אתִי֙ נִלְאֵ֣יתִי הָכִ֔יל שְׁפֹ֤ךְ עַל עוֹלָל֙ בַּ/ח֔וּץ וְ/עַ֛ל ס֥וֹד בַּחוּרִ֖ים יַחְדָּ֑ו כִּֽי גַם אִ֤ישׁ עִם אִשָּׁה֙ יִלָּכֵ֔דוּ זָקֵ֖ן עִם מְלֵ֥א יָמִֽים
And their houses shall be turned vnto others, with their fields and wiues together: for I wil stretch out my hand vpon the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD.

וְ/נָסַ֤בּוּ בָֽתֵּי/הֶם֙ לַ/אֲחֵרִ֔ים שָׂד֥וֹת וְ/נָשִׁ֖ים יַחְדָּ֑ו כִּֽי אַטֶּ֧ה אֶת יָדִ֛/י עַל יֹשְׁבֵ֥י הָ/אָ֖רֶץ נְאֻם יְהוָֽה
For from the least of them euen vnto the greatest of them, euery one is giuen to couetousnesse, and from the prophet euen vnto the priest, euery one dealeth falsly.

They haue healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people sleightly, saying, Peace, peace, when there is no peace.

וַֽ/יְרַפְּא֞וּ אֶת שֶׁ֤בֶר עַמִּ/י֙ עַל נְקַלָּ֔ה לֵ/אמֹ֖ר שָׁל֣וֹם שָׁל֑וֹם וְ/אֵ֖ין שָׁלֽוֹם
Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them, they shall bee cast downe, saith the LORD.

הֹבִ֕ישׁוּ כִּ֥י תוֹעֵבָ֖ה עָשׂ֑וּ גַּם בּ֣וֹשׁ לֹֽא יֵב֗וֹשׁוּ גַּם הַכְלִים֙ לֹ֣א יָדָ֔עוּ לָ/כֵ֞ן יִפְּל֧וּ בַ/נֹּפְלִ֛ים בְּ/עֵת פְּקַדְתִּ֥י/ם יִכָּשְׁל֖וּ אָמַ֥ר יְהוָֽה
Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the wayes and see, and aske for the old paths, where is the good way, and walke therein, and ye shall finde rest for your soules: but they said, We will not walke therein.
GenevaThus sayeth the Lord, Stande in the waies and beholde, and aske for the olde way, which is the good way and walke therein, and yee shall finde rest for your soules: but they saide, We will not walke therein.
כֹּ֣ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֡ה עִמְדוּ֩ עַל דְּרָכִ֨ים וּ/רְא֜וּ וְ/שַׁאֲל֣וּ לִ/נְתִב֣וֹת עוֹלָ֗ם אֵי זֶ֨ה דֶ֤רֶךְ הַ/טּוֹב֙ וּ/לְכוּ בָ֔/הּ וּ/מִצְא֥וּ מַרְגּ֖וֹעַ לְ/נַפְשְׁ/כֶ֑ם וַ/יֹּאמְר֖וּ לֹ֥א נֵלֵֽךְ
Also I set watchmen ouer you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet: but they said, We wil not hearken.
GenevaAlso I set watchmen ouer you, which said, Take heede to the sound of the trumpet: but they said, We will not take heede.
וַ/הֲקִמֹתִ֤י עֲלֵי/כֶם֙ צֹפִ֔ים הַקְשִׁ֖יבוּ לְ/ק֣וֹל שׁוֹפָ֑ר וַ/יֹּאמְר֖וּ לֹ֥א נַקְשִֽׁיב
¶ Therefore heare ye nations, and know, O Congregation what is among them.
GenevaHeare therefore, yee Gentiles, and thou Congregation knowe, what is among them.
לָ/כֵ֖ן שִׁמְע֣וּ הַ/גּוֹיִ֑ם וּ/דְעִ֥י עֵדָ֖ה אֶת אֲשֶׁר בָּֽ/ם
Heare, O earth, behold, I will bring euill vpon this people, euen the fruit of their thoughts, because they haue not hearkened vnto my wordes, nor to my law, but reiected it.
GenevaHeare, O earth, beholde, I will cause a plague to come vpon this people, euen the fruite of their owne imaginations: because they haue not taken heede vnto my woordes, nor to my Lawe, but cast it off.
שִׁמְעִ֣י הָ/אָ֔רֶץ הִנֵּ֨ה אָנֹכִ֜י מֵבִ֥יא רָעָ֛ה אֶל הָ/עָ֥ם הַ/זֶּ֖ה פְּרִ֣י מַחְשְׁבוֹתָ֑/ם כִּ֤י עַל דְּבָרַ/י֙ לֹ֣א הִקְשִׁ֔יבוּ וְ/תוֹרָתִ֖/י וַ/יִּמְאֲסוּ בָֽ/הּ
To what purpose cōmeth there to me incense from Sheba? and the sweet cane from a farre countrey? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet vnto me.

לָ/מָּה זֶּ֨ה לִ֤/י לְבוֹנָה֙ מִ/שְּׁבָ֣א תָב֔וֹא וְ/קָנֶ֥ה הַ/טּ֖וֹב מֵ/אֶ֣רֶץ מֶרְחָ֑ק עֹלֽוֹתֵי/כֶם֙ לֹ֣א לְ/רָצ֔וֹן וְ/זִבְחֵי/כֶ֖ם לֹא עָ֥רְבוּ לִֽ/י
Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will lay stumbling blockes before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall vpon them: the neighbor and his friend shall perish.

לָ/כֵ֗ן כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה הִנְ/נִ֥י נֹתֵ֛ן אֶל הָ/עָ֥ם הַ/זֶּ֖ה מִכְשֹׁלִ֑ים וְ/כָ֣שְׁלוּ בָ֠/ם אָב֨וֹת וּ/בָנִ֥ים יַחְדָּ֛ו שָׁכֵ֥ן וְ/רֵע֖/וֹ יאבדו
Thus saith the LORD, Behold, a people commeth from the North countrey, and a great nation shall bee raised from the sides of the earth.

כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה הִנֵּ֛ה עַ֥ם בָּ֖א מֵ/אֶ֣רֶץ צָפ֑וֹן וְ/ג֣וֹי גָּד֔וֹל יֵע֖וֹר מִ/יַּרְכְּתֵי אָֽרֶץ
They shall lay hold on bowe and speare: they are cruell, and haue no mercie: their voice roareth like the Sea, and they ride vpon horses, set in aray as men for warre against thee, O daughter of Zion.

קֶ֣שֶׁת וְ/כִיד֞וֹן יַחֲזִ֗יקוּ אַכְזָרִ֥י הוּא֙ וְ/לֹ֣א יְרַחֵ֔מוּ קוֹלָ/ם֙ כַּ/יָּ֣ם יֶהֱמֶ֔ה וְ/עַל סוּסִ֖ים יִרְכָּ֑בוּ עָר֗וּךְ כְּ/אִישׁ֙ לַ/מִּלְחָמָ֔ה עָלַ֖יִ/ךְ בַּת צִיּֽוֹן
We haue heard the fame thereof, our hands waxe feeble, anguish hath taken hold of vs, and paine as of a woman in trauaile.

שָׁמַ֥עְנוּ אֶת שָׁמְע֖/וֹ רָפ֣וּ יָדֵ֑י/נוּ צָרָה֙ הֶחֱזִיקַ֔תְ/נוּ חִ֖יל כַּ/יּוֹלֵדָֽה
Goe not forth into the field, nor walke by the way: for the sword of the enemie and feare is on euery side.

¶ O daughter of my people, gird thee with sackcloth, and wallowe thy selfe in ashes: make thee mourning, as for an onely sonne, most bitter lamentation: for the spoiler shall suddenly come vpon vs.

בַּת עַמִּ֤/י חִגְרִי שָׂק֙ וְ/הִתְפַּלְּשִׁ֣י בָ/אֵ֔פֶר אֵ֤בֶל יָחִיד֙ עֲשִׂ֣י לָ֔/ךְ מִסְפַּ֖ד תַּמְרוּרִ֑ים כִּ֣י פִתְאֹ֔ם יָבֹ֥א הַ/שֹּׁדֵ֖ד עָלֵֽי/נוּ
I haue set thee for a towre, and a fortresse among my people: that thou mayest know and trie their way.

בָּח֛וֹן נְתַתִּ֥י/ךָ בְ/עַמִּ֖/י מִבְצָ֑ר וְ/תֵדַ֕ע וּ/בָחַנְתָּ֖ אֶת דַּרְכָּֽ/ם
They are all grieuous reuolters, walking with slanders: they are brasse and yron, they are all corrupters.

כֻּלָּ/ם֙ סָרֵ֣י סֽוֹרְרִ֔ים הֹלְכֵ֥י רָכִ֖יל נְחֹ֣שֶׁת וּ/בַרְזֶ֑ל כֻּלָּ֥/ם מַשְׁחִיתִ֖ים הֵֽמָּה
The bellowes are burnt, the lead is consumed of the fire: the founder melteth in vaine: for the wicked are not plucked away.

Reprobate siluer shall men call them, because the LORD hath reiected them.
