Numbers 22
And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in the plaines of Moab, on this side Iordane by Iericho.
GenevaAfter, the children of Israel departed and pitched in the plaine of Moab on the other side of Iorden from Iericho.
וַ/יִּסְע֖וּ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַֽ/יַּחֲנוּ֙ בְּ/עַֽרְב֣וֹת מוֹאָ֔ב מֵ/עֵ֖בֶר לְ/יַרְדֵּ֥ן יְרֵחֽוֹ
¶ And Balak the sonne of Zippor, saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites.
GenevaNow Balak the sonne of Zippor sawe all that Israel had done to the Amorites.
וַ/יַּ֥רְא בָּלָ֖ק בֶּן צִפּ֑וֹר אֵ֛ת כָּל אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂ֥ה יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לָֽ/אֱמֹרִֽי
And Moab was sore afraid of the people, because they were many, and Moab was distressed, because of the children of Israel.
GenevaAnd the Moabites were sore afraide of the people, because they were many, and Moab fretted against the children of Israel.
וַ/יָּ֨גָר מוֹאָ֜ב מִ/פְּנֵ֥י הָ/עָ֛ם מְאֹ֖ד כִּ֣י רַב ה֑וּא וַ/יָּ֣קָץ מוֹאָ֔ב מִ/פְּנֵ֖י בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל
And Moab said vnto the elders of Midian; Now shall this company licke vp all that are round about vs, as the oxe licketh vp the grasse of the field. And Balak the sonne of Zippor, was King of the Moabites at that time.
GenevaTherfore Moab said vnto the Elders of Midian, Nowe shall this multitude licke vp all that are round about vs, as an oxe licketh vp ye grasse of the fielde: and Balak the sonne of Zippor was King of the Moabites at that time.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר מוֹאָ֜ב אֶל זִקְנֵ֣י מִדְיָ֗ן עַתָּ֞ה יְלַחֲכ֤וּ הַ/קָּהָל֙ אֶת כָּל סְבִ֣יבֹתֵ֔י/נוּ כִּ/לְחֹ֣ךְ הַ/שּׁ֔וֹר אֵ֖ת יֶ֣רֶק הַ/שָּׂדֶ֑ה וּ/בָלָ֧ק בֶּן צִפּ֛וֹר מֶ֥לֶךְ לְ/מוֹאָ֖ב בָּ/עֵ֥ת הַ/הִֽוא
He sent messengers therefore vnto Balaam the sonne of Beor, to Pethor, which is by the riuer of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: beholde, they couer the face of the earth, and they abide ouer against me.

וַ/יִּשְׁלַ֨ח מַלְאָכִ֜ים אֶל בִּלְעָ֣ם בֶּן בְּע֗וֹר פְּ֠תוֹרָ/ה אֲשֶׁ֧ר עַל הַ/נָּהָ֛ר אֶ֥רֶץ בְּנֵי עַמּ֖/וֹ לִ/קְרֹא ל֑/וֹ לֵ/אמֹ֗ר הִ֠נֵּה עַ֣ם יָצָ֤א מִ/מִּצְרַ֨יִם֙ הִנֵּ֤ה כִסָּה֙ אֶת עֵ֣ין הָ/אָ֔רֶץ וְ/ה֥וּא יֹשֵׁ֖ב מִ/מֻּלִֽ/י
Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse mee this people, for they are too mightie for me: peraduenture I shall preuaile, that we may smite them, and that I may driue them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest, is blessed, and hee whom thou cursest, is cursed.
GenevaCome now therefore, I pray thee, and curse me this people (for they are stronger then I) so it may be that I shall be able to smite them, and to driue them out of the land: for I knowe that hee, whome thou blessest, is blessed, and he whom thou cursest, shall be cursed.
וְ/עַתָּה֩ לְכָ/ה נָּ֨א אָֽרָ/ה לִּ֜/י אֶת הָ/עָ֣ם הַ/זֶּ֗ה כִּֽי עָצ֥וּם הוּא֙ מִמֶּ֔/נִּי אוּלַ֤י אוּכַל֙ נַכֶּה בּ֔/וֹ וַ/אֲגָרְשֶׁ֖/נּוּ מִן הָ/אָ֑רֶץ כִּ֣י יָדַ֗עְתִּי אֵ֤ת אֲשֶׁר תְּבָרֵךְ֙ מְבֹרָ֔ךְ וַ/אֲשֶׁ֥ר תָּאֹ֖ר יוּאָֽר
And the elders of Moab, and the elders of Midian departed, with the rewards of diuination in their hand; and they came vnto Balaam, and spake vnto him the words of Balak.
GenevaAnd the Elders of Moab, and the Elders of Midian departed, hauing the reward of the soothsaying in their hande, and they came vnto Balaam, and tolde him the wordes of Balak.
וַ/יֵּ֨לְכ֜וּ זִקְנֵ֤י מוֹאָב֙ וְ/זִקְנֵ֣י מִדְיָ֔ן וּ/קְסָמִ֖ים בְּ/יָדָ֑/ם וַ/יָּבֹ֨אוּ֙ אֶל בִּלְעָ֔ם וַ/יְדַבְּר֥וּ אֵלָ֖י/ו דִּבְרֵ֥י בָלָֽק
And hee said vnto them, Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word againe as the LORD shal speake vnto mee: and the Princes of Moab abode with Balaam.
GenevaWho answered them, Tary here this night, and I will giue you an answere, as the Lord shall say vnto mee. So the princes of Moab abode with Balaam.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵי/הֶ֗ם לִ֤ינוּ פֹה֙ הַ/לַּ֔יְלָה וַ/הֲשִׁבֹתִ֤י אֶתְ/כֶם֙ דָּבָ֔ר כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֛ר יְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֵלָ֑/י וַ/יֵּשְׁב֥וּ שָׂרֵֽי מוֹאָ֖ב עִם בִּלְעָֽם
And God came vnto Balaam, and said, What men are these with thee?
GenevaThen God came vnto Balaam, and sayde, What men are these with thee?
וַ/יָּבֹ֥א אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶל בִּלְעָ֑ם וַ/יֹּ֕אמֶר מִ֛י הָ/אֲנָשִׁ֥ים הָ/אֵ֖לֶּה עִמָּֽ/ךְ
And Balaam said vnto God, Balak the sonne of Zippor, King of Moab, hath sent vnto me, saying;
GenevaAnd Baalam said vnto God, Balak ye sonne of Zippor, king of Moab hath set vnto me, saying,
וַ/יֹּ֥אמֶר בִּלְעָ֖ם אֶל הָ/אֱלֹהִ֑ים בָּלָ֧ק בֶּן צִפֹּ֛ר מֶ֥לֶךְ מוֹאָ֖ב שָׁלַ֥ח אֵלָֽ/י
Behold, there is a people come out of Egypt, which couereth the face of the earth: Come now, curse me them; peraduenture I shalbe able to ouercome them, and driue them out.
GenevaBeholde, there is a people come out of Egypt and couereth the face of the earth: come nowe, curse them for my sake: so it may be that I shalbe able to ouercome them in battell, and to driue them out.
הִנֵּ֤ה הָ/עָם֙ הַ/יֹּצֵ֣א מִ/מִּצְרַ֔יִם וַ/יְכַ֖ס אֶת עֵ֣ין הָ/אָ֑רֶץ עַתָּ֗ה לְכָ֤/ה קָֽבָ/ה לִּ/י֙ אֹת֔/וֹ אוּלַ֥י אוּכַ֛ל לְ/הִלָּ֥חֶם בּ֖/וֹ וְ/גֵרַשְׁתִּֽי/ו
And God saide vnto Balaam; Thou shalt not goe with them, thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed.
GenevaAnd God said vnto Balaam, Go not thou with them, neither curse the people, for they are blessed.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר אֱלֹהִים֙ אֶל בִּלְעָ֔ם לֹ֥א תֵלֵ֖ךְ עִמָּ/הֶ֑ם לֹ֤א תָאֹר֙ אֶת הָ/עָ֔ם כִּ֥י בָר֖וּךְ הֽוּא
And Balaam rose vp in the morning, and said vnto the Princes of Balak, Get you into your land: for the LORD refuseth to giue mee leaue to goe with you.
GenevaAnd Balaam rose vp in the morning, and sayde vnto ye princes of Balak, Returne vnto your land: for the Lord hath refused to giue me leaue to go with you.
וַ/יָּ֤קָם בִּלְעָם֙ בַּ/בֹּ֔קֶר וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר֙ אֶל שָׂרֵ֣י בָלָ֔ק לְכ֖וּ אֶֽל אַרְצְ/כֶ֑ם כִּ֚י מֵאֵ֣ן יְהוָ֔ה לְ/תִתִּ֖/י לַ/הֲלֹ֥ךְ עִמָּ/כֶֽם
And the Princes of Moab rose vp, and they went vnto Balak, and said, Balaam refuseth to come with vs.
GenevaSo the princes of Moab rose vp, and went vnto Balak, and sayd, Balaam hath refused to come with vs.
וַ/יָּק֨וּמוּ֙ שָׂרֵ֣י מוֹאָ֔ב וַ/יָּבֹ֖אוּ אֶל בָּלָ֑ק וַ/יֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ מֵאֵ֥ן בִּלְעָ֖ם הֲלֹ֥ךְ עִמָּֽ/נוּ
¶ And Balak sent yet againe Princes, moe, and more honourable then they.
GenevaBalak yet sent againe moe princes, and more honourable then they.
וַ/יֹּ֥סֶף ע֖וֹד בָּלָ֑ק שְׁלֹ֣חַ שָׂרִ֔ים רַבִּ֥ים וְ/נִכְבָּדִ֖ים מֵ/אֵֽלֶּה
And they came to Balaam, and said to him, Thus saith Balak the son of Zippor; Let nothing, I pray thee, hinder thee from comming vnto me:
GenevaWho came to Balaam, and sayde to him, Thus saith Balak the sonne of Zippor, Bee not thou staied, I pray thee, from comming vnto me.
וַ/יָּבֹ֖אוּ אֶל בִּלְעָ֑ם וַ/יֹּ֣אמְרוּ ל֗/וֹ כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ בָּלָ֣ק בֶּן צִפּ֔וֹר אַל נָ֥א תִמָּנַ֖ע מֵ/הֲלֹ֥ךְ אֵלָֽ/י
For I wil promote thee vnto very great honour, and I will do whatsoeuer thou saiest vnto me: Come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people.

כִּֽי כַבֵּ֤ד אֲכַבֶּדְ/ךָ֙ מְאֹ֔ד וְ/כֹ֛ל אֲשֶׁר תֹּאמַ֥ר אֵלַ֖/י אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֑ה וּ/לְכָ/ה נָּא֙ קָֽבָ/ה לִּ֔/י אֵ֖ת הָ/עָ֥ם הַ/זֶּֽה
And Balaam answered and said vnto the seruants of Balak, If Balak would giue me his house full of siluer and gold, I cannot goe beyond the word of the LORD my God, to doe lesse or more.
GenevaAnd Balaam answered, and sayde vnto the seruants of Balak, If Balak woulde giue me his house full of siluer and golde, I can not goe beyonde the worde of the Lord my God, to doe lesse or more.
וַ/יַּ֣עַן בִּלְעָ֗ם וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר֙ אֶל עַבְדֵ֣י בָלָ֔ק אִם יִתֶּן לִ֥/י בָלָ֛ק מְלֹ֥א בֵית֖/וֹ כֶּ֣סֶף וְ/זָהָ֑ב לֹ֣א אוּכַ֗ל לַ/עֲבֹר֙ אֶת פִּי֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהָ֔/י לַ/עֲשׂ֥וֹת קְטַנָּ֖ה א֥וֹ גְדוֹלָֽה
Now therefore, I pray you, tarie yee also here this night, that I may know what the LORD will say vnto me more.
GenevaBut nowe, I pray you, tary here this night, that I may wit, what the Lord will say vnto mee more.
וְ/עַתָּ֗ה שְׁב֨וּ נָ֥א בָ/זֶ֛ה גַּם אַתֶּ֖ם הַ/לָּ֑יְלָה וְ/אֵ֣דְעָ֔ה מַה יֹּסֵ֥ף יְהוָ֖ה דַּבֵּ֥ר עִמִּֽ/י
And God came vnto Balaam at night, and said vnto him, If the men come to call thee, rise vp, and goe with them: but yet the word which I shall say vnto thee, that shalt thou doe.
GenevaAnd God came vnto Balaam by night, and sayd vnto him, If the men come to call thee, rise vp, and goe with them: but onely what thing I say vnto thee, that shalt thou doe.
וַ/יָּבֹ֨א אֱלֹהִ֥ים אֶל בִּלְעָם֮ לַיְלָה֒ וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר ל֗/וֹ אִם לִ/קְרֹ֤א לְ/ךָ֙ בָּ֣אוּ הָ/אֲנָשִׁ֔ים ק֖וּם לֵ֣ךְ אִתָּ֑/ם וְ/אַ֗ךְ אֶת הַ/דָּבָ֛ר אֲשֶׁר אֲדַבֵּ֥ר אֵלֶ֖י/ךָ אֹת֥/וֹ תַעֲשֶֽׂה
And Balaam rose vp in the morning, and sadled his asse, and went with the princes of Moab.
GenevaSo Balaam rose vp early, and sadled his asse, and went with the princes of Moab.
וַ/יָּ֤קָם בִּלְעָם֙ בַּ/בֹּ֔קֶר וַֽ/יַּחֲבֹ֖שׁ אֶת אֲתֹנ֑/וֹ וַ/יֵּ֖לֶךְ עִם שָׂרֵ֥י מוֹאָֽב
¶ And Gods anger was kindled, because he went: and the Angel of the LORD stood in the way for an aduersarie against him: Now he was riding vpon his asse, and his two seruants were with him.
GenevaAnd ye wrath of God was kindled, because he went: and the Angel of the Lord stood in the way to be against him, as he rode vpon his asse, and his two seruants were with him.
וַ/יִּֽחַר אַ֣ף אֱלֹהִים֮ כִּֽי הוֹלֵ֣ךְ הוּא֒ וַ/יִּתְיַצֵּ֞ב מַלְאַ֧ךְ יְהוָ֛ה בַּ/דֶּ֖רֶךְ לְ/שָׂטָ֣ן ל֑/וֹ וְ/הוּא֙ רֹכֵ֣ב עַל אֲתֹנ֔/וֹ וּ/שְׁנֵ֥י נְעָרָ֖י/ו עִמּֽ/וֹ
And the Asse sawe the Angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawen in his hand: and the asse turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the asse, to turne her into the way.
GenevaAnd when the asse saw the Angel of the Lord stand in the way, and his sworde drawen in his hand, the asse turned out of the way and went into the field, but Balaam smote the asse, to turne her into the way.
וַ/תֵּ֣רֶא הָ/אָתוֹן֩ אֶת מַלְאַ֨ךְ יְהוָ֜ה נִצָּ֣ב בַּ/דֶּ֗רֶךְ וְ/חַרְבּ֤/וֹ שְׁלוּפָה֙ בְּ/יָד֔/וֹ וַ/תֵּ֤ט הָֽ/אָתוֹן֙ מִן הַ/דֶּ֔רֶךְ וַ/תֵּ֖לֶךְ בַּ/שָּׂדֶ֑ה וַ/יַּ֤ךְ בִּלְעָם֙ אֶת הָ֣/אָת֔וֹן לְ/הַטֹּתָ֖/הּ הַ/דָּֽרֶךְ
But the Angel of the LORD stood in a path of the vineyards, a wall being on this side, & a wall on that side.
GenevaAgaine the Angel of the Lord stood in a path of the vineyardes, hauing a wall on the one side, and a wall on the other.
וַֽ/יַּעֲמֹד֙ מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהוָ֔ה בְּ/מִשְׁע֖וֹל הַ/כְּרָמִ֑ים גָּדֵ֥ר מִ/זֶּ֖ה וְ/גָדֵ֥ר מִ/זֶּֽה
And when the asse saw the Angel of the LORD, she thrust her selfe vnto the wall, and crusht Balaams foote against the wall: and hee smote her againe.
GenevaAnd when the asse sawe the Angel of the Lord, she thrust her selfe vnto the wall, and dasht Balaams foote against the wall: wherefore hee smote her againe.
וַ/תֵּ֨רֶא הָ/אָת֜וֹן אֶת מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהוָ֗ה וַ/תִּלָּחֵץ֙ אֶל הַ/קִּ֔יר וַ/תִּלְחַ֛ץ אֶת רֶ֥גֶל בִּלְעָ֖ם אֶל הַ/קִּ֑יר וַ/יֹּ֖סֶף לְ/הַכֹּתָֽ/הּ
And the Angel of the LORD went further, and stood in a narrowe place, where was no way to turne, either to the right hand, or to the left.
GenevaThen the Angel of the Lord went further, and stoode in a narowe place, where was no way to turne, either to the right hand, or to the left.
וַ/יּ֥וֹסֶף מַלְאַךְ יְהוָ֖ה עֲב֑וֹר וַֽ/יַּעֲמֹד֙ בְּ/מָק֣וֹם צָ֔ר אֲשֶׁ֛ר אֵֽין דֶּ֥רֶךְ לִ/נְט֖וֹת יָמִ֥ין וּ/שְׂמֹֽאול
And when the asse sawe the Angel of the LORD, shee fell downe vnder Balaam, and Balaams anger was kindled, and hee smote the asse with a staffe.
GenevaAnd when the asse sawe the Angell of the Lord, she lay downe vnder Balaam: therefore Balaam was very wroth, and smote the asse with a staffe.
וַ/תֵּ֤רֶא הָֽ/אָתוֹן֙ אֶת מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהוָ֔ה וַ/תִּרְבַּ֖ץ תַּ֣חַת בִּלְעָ֑ם וַ/יִּֽחַר אַ֣ף בִּלְעָ֔ם וַ/יַּ֥ךְ אֶת הָ/אָת֖וֹן בַּ/מַּקֵּֽל
And the LORD opened the mouth of the asse, and shee saide vnto Balaam, What haue I done vnto thee, that thou hast smitten mee these three times?
GenevaThen the Lord opened the mouth of the asse, and she saide vnto Balaam, What haue I done vnto thee, that thou hast smitten me nowe three times?
וַ/יִּפְתַּ֥ח יְהוָ֖ה אֶת פִּ֣י הָ/אָת֑וֹן וַ/תֹּ֤אמֶר לְ/בִלְעָם֙ מֶה עָשִׂ֣יתִֽי לְ/ךָ֔ כִּ֣י הִכִּיתַ֔/נִי זֶ֖ה שָׁלֹ֥שׁ רְגָלִֽים
And Balaam said vnto the asse, Because thou hast mocked mee: I would there were a sword in mine hand, for now would I kill thee.
GenevaAnd Balaam saide vnto the asse, Because thou hast mocked me: I woulde there were a sworde in mine hand, for nowe would I kill thee.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר בִּלְעָם֙ לָֽ/אָת֔וֹן כִּ֥י הִתְעַלַּ֖לְתְּ בִּ֑/י ל֤וּ יֶשׁ חֶ֨רֶב֙ בְּ/יָדִ֔/י כִּ֥י עַתָּ֖ה הֲרַגְתִּֽי/ךְ
And the asse said vnto Balaam, Am not I thine asse, vpon which thou hast ridden euer since I was thine, vnto this day? was I euer wont to do so vnto thee? And he said, Nay.
GenevaAnd the asse saide vnto Balaam, Am not I thine asse, which thou hast ridden vpon since thy first time vnto this day? haue I vsed at any time to doe thus vnto thee? Who said, Nay.
וַ/תֹּ֨אמֶר הָ/אָת֜וֹן אֶל בִּלְעָ֗ם הֲ/לוֹא֩ אָנֹכִ֨י אֲתֹֽנְ/ךָ֜ אֲשֶׁר רָכַ֣בְתָּ עָלַ֗/י מֵ/עֽוֹדְ/ךָ֙ עַד הַ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/זֶּ֔ה הַֽ/הַסְכֵּ֣ן הִסְכַּ֔נְתִּי לַ/עֲשׂ֥וֹת לְ/ךָ֖ כֹּ֑ה וַ/יֹּ֖אמֶר לֹֽא
Then the LORD opened the eyes of Balaam, and hee saw the Angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawen in his hand: and hee bowed downe his head, and fell flat on his face.
GenevaAnd the Lord opened the eyes of Balaam, and he sawe the Angel of the Lord standing in the way with his sword drawen in his hande: then he bowed him selfe, and fell flat on his face.
וַ/יְגַ֣ל יְהוָה֮ אֶת עֵינֵ֣י בִלְעָם֒ וַ/יַּ֞רְא אֶת מַלְאַ֤ךְ יְהוָה֙ נִצָּ֣ב בַּ/דֶּ֔רֶךְ וְ/חַרְבּ֥/וֹ שְׁלֻפָ֖ה בְּ/יָד֑/וֹ וַ/יִּקֹּ֥ד וַ/יִּשְׁתַּ֖חוּ לְ/אַפָּֽי/ו
And the Angel of the LORD said vnto him, Wherefore hast thou smitten thine asse these three times? Behold, I went out to withstand thee, because thy way is peruerse before me.
GenevaAnd the Angel of the Lord said vnto him, Wherefore hast thou nowe smitten thine asse three times? beholde, I came out to withstande thee, because thy way is not straight before me.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר אֵלָי/ו֙ מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהוָ֔ה עַל מָ֗ה הִכִּ֨יתָ֙ אֶת אֲתֹ֣נְ/ךָ֔ זֶ֖ה שָׁל֣וֹשׁ רְגָלִ֑ים הִנֵּ֤ה אָנֹכִי֙ יָצָ֣אתִי לְ/שָׂטָ֔ן כִּֽי יָרַ֥ט הַ/דֶּ֖רֶךְ לְ/נֶגְדִּֽ/י
And the asse saw me, and turned from me these three times: vnlesse shee had turned from me, surely now also I had slaine thee, and saued her aliue.
GenevaBut the asse sawe me, and turned from me now three times: for els, if she had not turned from me, surely I had euen nowe slaine thee, and saued her aliue.
וַ/תִּרְאַ֨/נִי֙ הָֽ/אָת֔וֹן וַ/תֵּ֣ט לְ/פָנַ֔/י זֶ֖ה שָׁלֹ֣שׁ רְגָלִ֑ים אוּלַי֙ נָטְתָ֣ה מִ/פָּנַ֔/י כִּ֥י עַתָּ֛ה גַּם אֹתְ/כָ֥ה הָרַ֖גְתִּי וְ/אוֹתָ֥/הּ הֶחֱיֵֽיתִי
And Balaam said vnto the Angel of the LORD, I haue sinned: for I knew not that thou stoodest in the way against mee: Now therefore if it displease thee, I will get mee backe againe.
GenevaThen Balaam saide vnto the Angel of the Lord, I haue sinned: for I wist not that thou stoodest in the way against me: now therefore if it displease thee, I will turne home againe.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר בִּלְעָ֜ם אֶל מַלְאַ֤ךְ יְהוָה֙ חָטָ֔אתִי כִּ֚י לֹ֣א יָדַ֔עְתִּי כִּ֥י אַתָּ֛ה נִצָּ֥ב לִ/קְרָאתִ֖/י בַּ/דָּ֑רֶךְ וְ/עַתָּ֛ה אִם רַ֥ע בְּ/עֵינֶ֖י/ךָ אָשׁ֥וּבָה לִּֽ/י
And the Angel of the LORD said vnto Balaam, Goe with the men: but onely the word that I shall speake vnto thee, that thou shalt speake: So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.
GenevaBut the Angel said vnto Balaam, Go with the men: but what I say vnto thee, that shalt thou speake. So Balaam went with ye princes of Balak.
וַ/יֹּאמֶר֩ מַלְאַ֨ךְ יְהוָ֜ה אֶל בִּלְעָ֗ם לֵ֚ךְ עִם הָ֣/אֲנָשִׁ֔ים וְ/אֶ֗פֶס אֶת הַ/דָּבָ֛ר אֲשֶׁר אֲדַבֵּ֥ר אֵלֶ֖י/ךָ אֹת֣/וֹ תְדַבֵּ֑ר וַ/יֵּ֥לֶךְ בִּלְעָ֖ם עִם שָׂרֵ֥י בָלָֽק
¶ And when Balak heard that Balaam was come, hee went out to meete him, vnto a citie of Moab, which is in the border of Arnon, which is in the vtmost coast.

וַ/יִּשְׁמַ֥ע בָּלָ֖ק כִּ֣י בָ֣א בִלְעָ֑ם וַ/יֵּצֵ֨א לִ/קְרָאת֜/וֹ אֶל עִ֣יר מוֹאָ֗ב אֲשֶׁר֙ עַל גְּב֣וּל אַרְנֹ֔ן אֲשֶׁ֖ר בִּ/קְצֵ֥ה הַ/גְּבֽוּל
And Balak said vnto Balaam, Did I not earnestly send vnto thee to call thee? wherefore camest thou not vnto me? Am I not able indeed to promote thee to honour?
GenevaThen Balak saide vnto Balaam, Did I not sende for thee to call thee? Wherefore camest thou not vnto me? am I not able in deede to promote thee vnto honour?
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר בָּלָ֜ק אֶל בִּלְעָ֗ם הֲ/לֹא֩ שָׁלֹ֨חַ שָׁלַ֤חְתִּי אֵלֶ֨י/ךָ֙ לִ/קְרֹא לָ֔/ךְ לָ֥/מָּה לֹא הָלַ֖כְתָּ אֵלָ֑/י הַֽ/אֻמְנָ֔ם לֹ֥א אוּכַ֖ל כַּבְּדֶֽ/ךָ
And Balaam saide vnto Balak, Loe, I am come vnto thee: haue I now any power at all to say any thing? the worde that God putteth in my mouth, that shall I speake.
GenevaAnd Balaam made answere vnto Balak, Lo, I am come vnto thee, and can I nowe say any thing at all? the worde that God putteth in my mouth, that shall I speake.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר בִּלְעָ֜ם אֶל בָּלָ֗ק הִֽנֵּה בָ֨אתִי֙ אֵלֶ֔י/ךָ עַתָּ֕ה הֲ/יָכ֥וֹל אוּכַ֖ל דַּבֵּ֣ר מְא֑וּמָה הַ/דָּבָ֗ר אֲשֶׁ֨ר יָשִׂ֧ים אֱלֹהִ֛ים בְּ/פִ֖/י אֹת֥/וֹ אֲדַבֵּֽר
And Balaam went with Balak, and they came vnto Kiriath-Huzoth.
GenevaSo Balaam went with Balak, and they came vnto the citie of Huzoth.
וַ/יֵּ֥לֶךְ בִּלְעָ֖ם עִם בָּלָ֑ק וַ/יָּבֹ֖אוּ קִרְיַ֥ת חֻצֽוֹת
And Balak offered oxen, and sheepe, and sent to Balaam, and to the princes that were with him.
GenevaThen Balak offred bullockes, and sheepe, and sent thereof to Balaam, and to the princes that were with him.
וַ/יִּזְבַּ֥ח בָּלָ֖ק בָּקָ֣ר וָ/צֹ֑אן וַ/יְשַׁלַּ֣ח לְ/בִלְעָ֔ם וְ/לַ/שָּׂרִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר אִתּֽ/וֹ
And it came to passe on the morrow, that Balak tooke Balaam, and brought him vp into the high places of Baal, that thence hee might see the vtmost part of the people.
