Psalms 119
ALEPH.
Blessed are the vndefiled in the way: who walke in the Law of the LORD.
GenevaALEPH. Blessed are those that are vpright in their way, and walke in the Lawe of the Lord.
אַשְׁרֵ֥י תְמִֽימֵי דָ֑רֶךְ הַֽ֝/הֹלְכִ֗ים בְּ/תוֹרַ֥ת יְהוָֽה
Blessed are they that keepe his testimonies: and that seeke him with the whole heart.
GenevaBlessed are they that keepe his testimonies, and seeke him with their whole heart.
אַ֭שְׁרֵי נֹצְרֵ֥י עֵדֹתָ֗י/ו בְּ/כָל לֵ֥ב יִדְרְשֽׁוּ/הוּ
They also doe no iniquitie: they walke in his wayes.

אַ֭ף לֹֽא פָעֲל֣וּ עַוְלָ֑ה בִּ/דְרָכָ֥י/ו הָלָֽכוּ
Thou hast commaunded vs to keepe thy precepts diligently.

אַ֭תָּה צִוִּ֥יתָה פִקֻּדֶ֗י/ךָ לִ/שְׁמֹ֥ר מְאֹֽד
O that my wayes were directed to keepe thy statutes!

אַ֭חֲלַי יִכֹּ֥נוּ דְרָכָ֗/י לִ/שְׁמֹ֥ר חֻקֶּֽי/ךָ
Then shall I not bee ashamed: when I haue respect vnto all thy commandements.

אָ֥ז לֹא אֵב֑וֹשׁ בְּ֝/הַבִּיטִ֗/י אֶל כָּל מִצְוֺתֶֽי/ךָ
I will praise thee with vprightnesse of heart: when I shall haue learned thy righteous iudgements.

א֭וֹדְ/ךָ בְּ/יֹ֣שֶׁר לֵבָ֑ב בְּ֝/לָמְדִ֗/י מִשְׁפְּטֵ֥י צִדְקֶֽ/ךָ
I will keepe thy statutes: O forsake me not vtterly.

אֶת חֻקֶּ֥י/ךָ אֶשְׁמֹ֑ר אַֽל תַּעַזְבֵ֥/נִי עַד מְאֹֽד
BETH.
Wherewithall shall a yong man cleanse his way? by taking heede thereto according to thy word.
GenevaBETH. Wherewith shall a yong man redresse his waie? in taking heede thereto according to thy woorde.
בַּ/מֶּ֣ה יְזַכֶּה נַּ֭עַר אֶת אָרְח֑/וֹ לִ֝/שְׁמֹ֗ר כִּ/דְבָרֶֽ/ךָ
With my whole heart haue I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy Commandements.

בְּ/כָל לִבִּ֥/י דְרַשְׁתִּ֑י/ךָ אַל תַּ֝שְׁגֵּ֗/נִי מִ/מִּצְוֺתֶֽי/ךָ
Thy word haue I hidde in mine heart: that I might not sinne against thee.

בְּ֭/לִבִּ/י צָפַ֣נְתִּי אִמְרָתֶ֑/ךָ לְ֝מַ֗עַן לֹ֣א אֶֽחֱטָא לָֽ/ךְ
Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes.

בָּר֖וּךְ אַתָּ֥ה יְהוָ֗ה לַמְּדֵ֥/נִי חֻקֶּֽי/ךָ
With my lips haue I declared all the iudgements of thy mouth.

בִּ/שְׂפָתַ֥/י סִפַּ֑רְתִּי כֹּ֝֗ל מִשְׁפְּטֵי פִֽי/ךָ
I haue reioyced in the way of thy testimonies: as much as in all riches.

בְּ/דֶ֖רֶךְ עֵדְוֺתֶ֥י/ךָ שַׂ֗שְׂתִּי כְּ/עַ֣ל כָּל הֽוֹן
I will meditate in thy precepts: and haue respect vnto thy wayes.

בְּ/פִקֻּדֶ֥י/ךָ אָשִׂ֑יחָה וְ֝/אַבִּ֗יטָה אֹרְחֹתֶֽי/ךָ
I will delight my selfe in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.

בְּ/חֻקֹּתֶ֥י/ךָ אֶֽשְׁתַּעֲשָׁ֑ע לֹ֭א אֶשְׁכַּ֣ח דְּבָרֶֽ/ךָ

Deale bountifully with thy seruant; that I may liue, and keepe thy word.
GenevaGIMEL. Be beneficiall vnto thy seruant, that I may liue and keepe thy woorde.
גְּמֹ֖ל עַֽל עַבְדְּ/ךָ֥ אֶֽחְיֶ֗ה וְ/אֶשְׁמְרָ֥ה דְבָרֶֽ/ךָ
Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wonderous things out of thy Law.
GenevaOpen mine eies, that I may see the wonders of thy Lawe.
גַּל עֵינַ֥/י וְ/אַבִּ֑יטָה נִ֝פְלָא֗וֹת מִ/תּוֹרָתֶֽ/ךָ
I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandements from me.

גֵּ֣ר אָנֹכִ֣י בָ/אָ֑רֶץ אַל תַּסְתֵּ֥ר מִ֝מֶּ֗/נִּי מִצְוֺתֶֽי/ךָ
My soule breaketh for the longing: that it hath vnto thy iudgements at all times.
GenevaMine heart breaketh for the desire to thy iudgements alway.
גָּרְסָ֣ה נַפְשִׁ֣/י לְ/תַאֲבָ֑ה אֶֽל מִשְׁפָּטֶ֥י/ךָ בְ/כָל עֵֽת
Thou hast rebuked the proud that are cursed: which doe erre from thy Commandements.
GenevaThou hast destroied the proud: cursed are they that doe erre from thy commandements.
גָּ֭עַרְתָּ זֵדִ֣ים אֲרוּרִ֑ים הַ֝/שֹּׁגִים מִ/מִּצְוֺתֶֽי/ךָ
Remooue from me reproch and contempt: for I haue kept thy testimonies.

גַּ֣ל מֵֽ֭/עָלַ/י חֶרְפָּ֣ה וָ/ב֑וּז כִּ֖י עֵדֹתֶ֣י/ךָ נָצָֽרְתִּי
Princes also did sit and speake against me: but thy seruant did meditate in thy statutes.

גַּ֤ם יָֽשְׁב֣וּ שָׂ֭רִים בִּ֣/י נִדְבָּ֑רוּ עַ֝בְדְּ/ךָ֗ יָשִׂ֥יחַ בְּ/חֻקֶּֽי/ךָ
Thy testimonies also are my delight: and my counsellers.

גַּֽם עֵ֭דֹתֶי/ךָ שַׁעֲשֻׁעָ֗/י אַנְשֵׁ֥י עֲצָתִֽ/י
DALETH.
My soule cleaueth vnto the dust: quicken thou mee according to thy word.

דָּֽבְקָ֣ה לֶ/עָפָ֣ר נַפְשִׁ֑/י חַ֝יֵּ֗/נִי כִּ/דְבָרֶֽ/ךָ
I haue declared my wayes, and thou heardest me: teach me thy Statutes.

דְּרָכַ֣/י סִ֭פַּרְתִּי וַֽ/תַּעֲנֵ֗/נִי לַמְּדֵ֥/נִי חֻקֶּֽי/ךָ
Make me to vnderstand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talke of thy wonderous workes.

דֶּֽרֶךְ פִּקּוּדֶ֥י/ךָ הֲבִינֵ֑/נִי וְ֝/אָשִׂ֗יחָה בְּ/נִפְלְאוֹתֶֽי/ךָ
My soule melteth for heauines: strengthen thou me according vnto thy word.
GenevaMy soule melteth for heauinesse: raise mee vp according vnto thy worde.
דָּלְפָ֣ה נַ֭פְשִׁ/י מִ/תּוּגָ֑ה קַ֝יְּמֵ֗/נִי כִּ/דְבָרֶֽ/ךָ
Remoue from mee the way of lying: and grant me thy Law graciously.

דֶּֽרֶךְ שֶׁ֭קֶר הָסֵ֣ר מִמֶּ֑/נִּי וְֽ/תוֹרָתְ/ךָ֥ חָנֵּֽ/נִי
I haue chosen the way of trueth: thy iudgements haue I laid before me.

דֶּֽרֶךְ אֱמוּנָ֥ה בָחָ֑רְתִּי מִשְׁפָּטֶ֥י/ךָ שִׁוִּֽיתִי
I haue stucke vnto thy Testimonies: O LORD put me not to shame.

דָּבַ֥קְתִּי בְ/עֵֽדְוֺתֶ֑י/ךָ יְ֝הוָ֗ה אַל תְּבִישֵֽׁ/נִי
I will runne the way of thy Commandements: when thou shalt enlarge my heart.

דֶּֽרֶךְ מִצְוֺתֶ֥י/ךָ אָר֑וּץ כִּ֖י תַרְחִ֣יב לִבִּֽ/י
HE.
Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy Statutes: and I shall keepe it vnto the end.

הוֹרֵ֣/נִי יְ֭הוָה דֶּ֥רֶךְ חֻקֶּ֗י/ךָ וְ/אֶצְּרֶ֥/נָּה עֵֽקֶב
Giue me vnderstanding, and I shall keepe thy Law: yea I shall obserue it with my whole heart.

הֲ֭בִינֵ/נִי וְ/אֶצְּרָ֥ה תֽוֹרָתֶ֗/ךָ וְ/אֶשְׁמְרֶ֥/נָּה בְ/כָל לֵֽב
Make me to goe in the path of thy commandements: for therein doe I delight.

הַ֭דְרִיכֵ/נִי בִּ/נְתִ֣יב מִצְוֺתֶ֑י/ךָ כִּי ב֥/וֹ חָפָֽצְתִּי
Incline my heart vnto thy testimonies: and not to couetousnesse.

הַט לִ֭בִּ/י אֶל עֵדְוֺתֶ֗י/ךָ וְ/אַ֣ל אֶל בָּֽצַע
Turne away mine eyes from beholding vanitie: and quicken thou me in thy way.

הַעֲבֵ֣ר עֵ֭ינַ/י מֵ/רְא֣וֹת שָׁ֑וְא בִּ/דְרָכֶ֥/ךָ חַיֵּֽ/נִי
Stablish thy word vnto thy seruant: who is deuoted to thy feare.
GenevaStablish thy promise to thy seruaunt, because he feareth thee.
הָקֵ֣ם לְ֭/עַבְדְּ/ךָ אִמְרָתֶ֑/ךָ אֲ֝שֶׁ֗ר לְ/יִרְאָתֶֽ/ךָ
Turne away my reproch which I feare: for thy iudgements are good.
GenevaTake away my rebuke that I feare: for thy iudgements are good.
הַעֲבֵ֣ר חֶ֭רְפָּתִ/י אֲשֶׁ֣ר יָגֹ֑רְתִּי כִּ֖י מִשְׁפָּטֶ֣י/ךָ טוֹבִֽים
Behold, I haue longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy righteousnesse.
GenevaBeholde, I desire thy commandements: quicken me in thy righteousnesse,
הִ֭נֵּה תָּאַ֣בְתִּי לְ/פִקֻּדֶ֑י/ךָ בְּ/צִדְקָתְ/ךָ֥ חַיֵּֽ/נִי
VAU.
Let thy mercies come also vnto me, O LORD: euen thy saluation, according to thy word.
GenevaVAV. And let thy louing kindnesse come vnto me, O Lord, and thy saluation according to thy promise.
וִֽ/יבֹאֻ֣/נִי חֲסָדֶ֣/ךָ יְהוָ֑ה תְּ֝שֽׁוּעָתְ/ךָ֗ כְּ/אִמְרָתֶֽ/ךָ
So shall I haue wherewith to answere him that reprocheth me: for I trust in thy word.
GenevaSo shall I make answere vnto my blasphemers: for I trust in thy woorde.
וְ/אֶֽעֱנֶ֣ה חֹרְפִ֣/י דָבָ֑ר כִּֽי בָ֝טַחְתִּי בִּ/דְבָרֶֽ/ךָ
And take not the word of trueth vtterly out of my mouth: for I haue hoped in thy iudgements.
GenevaAnd take not the woorde of trueth vtterly out of my mouth: for I waite for thy iudgements.
וְֽ/אַל תַּצֵּ֬ל מִ/פִּ֣/י דְבַר אֱמֶ֣ת עַד מְאֹ֑ד כִּ֖י לְ/מִשְׁפָּטֶ֣/ךָ יִחָֽלְתִּי
So shall I keepe thy Law continually: for euer and euer.

וְ/אֶשְׁמְרָ֖ה תוֹרָתְ/ךָ֥ תָמִ֗יד לְ/עוֹלָ֥ם וָ/עֶֽד
And I wil walke at libertie: for I seeke thy precepts.
GenevaAnd I will walke at libertie: for I seeke thy precepts.
וְ/אֶתְהַלְּכָ֥ה בָ/רְחָבָ֑ה כִּ֖י פִקֻּדֶ֣י/ךָ דָרָֽשְׁתִּי
I will speake of thy testimonies also before kings, & wil not be ashamed.

וַ/אֲדַבְּרָ֣ה בְ֭/עֵדֹתֶי/ךָ נֶ֥גֶד מְלָכִ֗ים וְ/לֹ֣א אֵבֽוֹשׁ
And I will delight my selfe in thy commandements, which I haue loued.

וְ/אֶשְׁתַּֽעֲשַׁ֥ע בְּ/מִצְוֺתֶ֗י/ךָ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אָהָֽבְתִּי
My hands also will I lift vp vnto thy commandements, which I haue loued: and I will meditate in thy statutes.

וְ/אֶשָּֽׂא כַפַּ֗/י אֶֽל מִ֭צְוֺתֶי/ךָ אֲשֶׁ֥ר אָהָ֗בְתִּי וְ/אָשִׂ֥יחָה בְ/חֻקֶּֽי/ךָ
ZAIN
Remember the word vnto thy seruant: vpon which thou hast caused me to hope.
GenevaZAIN. Remember the promise made to thy seruant, wherein thou hast caused me to trust.
זְכֹר דָּבָ֥ר לְ/עַבְדֶּ֑/ךָ עַ֝֗ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר יִֽחַלְתָּֽ/נִי
This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.

זֹ֣את נֶחָמָתִ֣/י בְ/עָנְיִ֑/י כִּ֖י אִמְרָתְ/ךָ֣ חִיָּֽתְ/נִי
The proud haue had mee greatly in derision: yet haue I not declined from thy Law.

זֵ֭דִים הֱלִיצֻ֣/נִי עַד מְאֹ֑ד מִ֝/תּֽוֹרָתְ/ךָ֗ לֹ֣א נָטִֽיתִי
I remembred thy iudgements of old, O LORD: and haue comforted my selfe.
GenevaI remembred thy iudgements of olde, O Lord, and haue bene comforted.
זָ֘כַ֤רְתִּי מִשְׁפָּטֶ֖י/ךָ מֵ/עוֹלָ֥ם יְהוָ֗ה וָֽ/אֶתְנֶחָֽם
Horrour hath taken holde vpon me, because of the wicked that forsake thy Law.
GenevaFeare is come vpon mee for the wicked, that forsake thy Lawe.
זַלְעָפָ֣ה אֲ֭חָזַתְ/נִי מֵ/רְשָׁעִ֑ים עֹ֝זְבֵ֗י תּוֹרָתֶֽ/ךָ
Thy statutes haue bin my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.

זְ֭מִרוֹת הָֽיוּ לִ֥/י חֻקֶּ֗י/ךָ בְּ/בֵ֣ית מְגוּרָֽ/י
I haue remembred thy name, O LORD, in the night, and haue kept thy Law.

This I had: because I kept thy precepts.

CHETH.
Thou art my portion, O LORD, I haue said, that I would keepe thy words.

חֶלְקִ֖/י יְהוָ֥ה אָמַ֗רְתִּי לִ/שְׁמֹ֥ר דְּבָרֶֽי/ךָ
I intreated thy fauour with my whole heart: be mercifull vnto mee according to thy word.
GenevaI made my supplication in thy presence with my whole heart: be mercifull vnto me according to thy promise.
חִלִּ֣יתִי פָנֶ֣י/ךָ בְ/כָל לֵ֑ב חָ֝נֵּ֗/נִי כְּ/אִמְרָתֶֽ/ךָ
I thought on my wayes: and turned my feete vnto thy Testimonies.
GenevaI haue considered my waies, and turned my feete into thy testimonies.
חִשַּׁ֥בְתִּי דְרָכָ֑/י וָ/אָשִׁ֥יבָ/ה רַ֝גְלַ֗/י אֶל עֵדֹתֶֽי/ךָ
I made haste; and delayed not to keepe thy commandements.

חַ֭שְׁתִּי וְ/לֹ֣א הִתְמַהְמָ֑הְתִּי לִ֝/שְׁמֹ֗ר מִצְוֺתֶֽי/ךָ
The bands of the wicked haue robbed me: but I haue not forgotten thy lawe.

חֶבְלֵ֣י רְשָׁעִ֣ים עִוְּדֻ֑/נִי תּֽ֝וֹרָתְ/ךָ֗ לֹ֣א שָׁכָֽחְתִּי
At mid-night I will rise to giue thankes vnto thee: because of thy righteous iudgements.

I am a companion of all them that feare thee: and of them that keepe thy precepts.

The earth, O LORD, is full of thy mercy: teach me thy statutes.

Thou hast dealt well with thy seruant, Oh LORD, according vnto thy word.

ט֭וֹב עָשִׂ֣יתָ עִֽם עַבְדְּ/ךָ֑ יְ֝הוָ֗ה כִּ/דְבָרֶֽ/ךָ
Teach me good iudgement and knowledge: for I haue beleeued thy commandements.

Thou art good, and doest good; teach me thy statutes.

טוֹב אַתָּ֥ה וּ/מֵטִ֗יב לַמְּדֵ֥/נִי חֻקֶּֽי/ךָ
The proud haue forged a lie against me: but I will keepe thy precepts with my whole heart.

טָפְל֬וּ עָלַ֣/י שֶׁ֣קֶר זֵדִ֑ים אֲ֝נִ֗י בְּ/כָל לֵ֤ב אֱצֹּ֬ר פִּקּוּדֶֽי/ךָ
Their heart is as fat as grease: but I delight in thy law.

טָפַ֣שׁ כַּ/חֵ֣לֶב לִבָּ֑/ם אֲ֝נִ֗י תּוֹרָתְ/ךָ֥ שִֽׁעֲשָֽׁעְתִּי
It is good for me that I haue bene afflicted: that I might learne thy statutes.

טֽוֹב לִ֥/י כִֽי עֻנֵּ֑יתִי לְ֝מַ֗עַן אֶלְמַ֥ד חֻקֶּֽי/ךָ
The law of thy mouth is better vnto me: then thousands of gold and siluer.

צָעִ֣יר אָנֹכִ֣י וְ/נִבְזֶ֑ה פִּ֝קֻּדֶ֗י/ךָ לֹ֣א שָׁכָֽחְתִּי
Thy righteousnesse is an euerlasting righteousnesse: and thy law is the trueth.
