Psalms 33

Reioyce in the LORD, O yee righteous: for prayse is comely for the vpright.

GenevaRejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for it becommeth vpright men to be thankefull.

רַנְּנ֣וּ צַ֭דִּיקִים בַּֽ/יהוָ֑ה לַ֝/יְשָׁרִ֗ים נָאוָ֥ה תְהִלָּֽה

Praise the LORD with harp: sing vnto him with the Psalterie, and an instrument of ten strings.

GenevaPrayse the Lord with harpe: sing vnto him with viole and instrument of ten strings.

הוֹד֣וּ לַ/יהוָ֣ה בְּ/כִנּ֑וֹר בְּ/נֵ֥בֶל עָ֝שׂ֗וֹר זַמְּרוּ לֽ/וֹ

Sing vnto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise.

GenevaSing vnto him a newe song: sing cheerefully with a loude voyce.

שִֽׁירוּ ל֭/וֹ שִׁ֣יר חָדָ֑שׁ הֵיטִ֥יבוּ נַ֝גֵּ֗ן בִּ/תְרוּעָֽה

For the word of the LORD is right: and all his workes are done in trueth.

GenevaFor the word of the Lord is righteous, and all his workes are faithfull.

כִּֽי יָשָׁ֥ר דְּבַר יְהוָ֑ה וְ/כָל מַ֝עֲשֵׂ֗/הוּ בֶּ/אֱמוּנָֽה

Hee loueth righteousnesse and iudgement: the earth is ful of the goodnesse of the LORD.

אֹ֭הֵב צְדָקָ֣ה וּ/מִשְׁפָּ֑ט חֶ֥סֶד יְ֝הוָ֗ה מָלְאָ֥ה הָ/אָֽרֶץ

By the word of the LORD were the heauens made: and all the host of them, by the breath of his mouth.

בִּ/דְבַ֣ר יְ֭הוָה שָׁמַ֣יִם נַעֲשׂ֑וּ וּ/בְ/ר֥וּחַ פִּ֝֗י/ו כָּל צְבָאָֽ/ם

He gathereth the waters of the sea together, as an heape: he layeth vp the depth in storehouses.

כֹּנֵ֣ס כַּ֭/נֵּד מֵ֣י הַ/יָּ֑ם נֹתֵ֖ן בְּ/אֹצָר֣וֹת תְּהוֹמֽוֹת

Let all the earth feare the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

GenevaLet all the earth feare the Lord: let al them that dwell in the world, feare him.

יִֽירְא֣וּ מֵ֭/יְהוָה כָּל הָ/אָ֑רֶץ מִמֶּ֥/נּוּ יָ֝ג֗וּרוּ כָּל יֹשְׁבֵ֥י תֵבֵֽל

For he spake, and it was done: he commanded, and it stood fast.

כִּ֤י ה֣וּא אָמַ֣ר וַ/יֶּ֑הִי הֽוּא צִ֝וָּ֗ה וַֽ/יַּעֲמֹֽד

The LORD bringeth the counsell of the heathen to nought: he maketh the deuices of the people, of none effect.

GenevaThe Lord breaketh the counsell of the heathen, and bringeth to nought the deuices of the people.

יְֽהוָ֗ה הֵפִ֥יר עֲצַת גּוֹיִ֑ם הֵ֝נִ֗יא מַחְשְׁב֥וֹת עַמִּֽים

The counsaile of the LORD standeth for euer, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

GenevaThe counsell of the Lord shall stand for euer, and the thoughts of his heart throughout all ages.

עֲצַ֣ת יְ֭הוָה לְ/עוֹלָ֣ם תַּעֲמֹ֑ד מַחְשְׁב֥וֹת לִ֝בּ֗/וֹ לְ/דֹ֣ר וָ/דֹֽר

Blessed is the nation, whose God is the LORD: and the people, whom he hath chosen for his owne inheritance.

GenevaBlessed is that nation, whose God is the Lord: euen the people that he hath chosen for his inheritance.

אַשְׁרֵ֣י הַ֭/גּוֹי אֲשֶׁר יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהָ֑י/ו הָ/עָ֓ם בָּחַ֖ר לְ/נַחֲלָ֣ה לֽ/וֹ

The LORD looketh from heauen: he beholdeth all the sonnes of men.

GenevaThe Lord looketh downe from heauen, and beholdeth all the children of men.

מִ֭/שָּׁמַיִם הִבִּ֣יט יְהוָ֑ה רָ֝אָ֗ה אֶֽת כָּל בְּנֵ֥י הָ/אָדָֽם

From the place of his habitation, he looketh vpon all the inhabitants of the earth.

GenevaFrom the habitation of his dwelling he beholdeth all them that dwell in the earth.

מִֽ/מְּכוֹן שִׁבְתּ֥/וֹ הִשְׁגִּ֑יחַ אֶ֖ל כָּל יֹשְׁבֵ֣י הָ/אָֽרֶץ

He fashioneth their hearts alike: he considereth all their workes.

GenevaHe facioneth their hearts euery one, and vnderstandeth all their workes.

הַ/יֹּצֵ֣ר יַ֣חַד לִבָּ֑/ם הַ֝/מֵּבִ֗ין אֶל כָּל מַעֲשֵׂי/הֶֽם

There is no king saued by the multitude of an hoste: a mightie man is not deliuered by much strength.

GenevaThe King is not saued by the multitude of an hoste, neither is the mightie man deliuered by great strength.

אֵֽין הַ֭/מֶּלֶךְ נוֹשָׁ֣ע בְּ/רָב חָ֑יִל גִּ֝בּ֗וֹר לֹֽא יִנָּצֵ֥ל בְּ/רָב כֹּֽחַ

An horse is a vaine thing for safetie: neither shall he deliuer any by his great strength.

GenevaA horse is a vaine helpe, and shall not deliuer any by his great strength.

שֶׁ֣קֶר הַ֭/סּוּס לִ/תְשׁוּעָ֑ה וּ/בְ/רֹ֥ב חֵ֝יל֗/וֹ לֹ֣א יְמַלֵּֽט

Behold, the eye of the LORD is vpon them that feare him: vpon them that hope in his mercy:

GenevaBeholde, the eye of the Lord is vpon them that feare him, and vpon them, that trust in his mercie,

הִנֵּ֤ה עֵ֣ין יְ֭הוָה אֶל יְרֵאָ֑י/ו לַֽ/מְיַחֲלִ֥ים לְ/חַסְדּֽ/וֹ

To deliuer their soule from death, and to keepe them aliue in famine.

לְ/הַצִּ֣יל מִ/מָּ֣וֶת נַפְשָׁ֑/ם וּ֝/לְ/חַיּוֹתָ֗/ם בָּ/רָעָֽב

Our soule waiteth for the LORD: he is our helpe, and our shield.

GenevaOur soule waiteth for the Lord: for he is our helpe and our shielde.

נַ֭פְשֵׁ/נוּ חִכְּתָ֣ה לַֽ/יהוָ֑ה עֶזְרֵ֖/נוּ וּ/מָגִנֵּ֣/נוּ הֽוּא

For our heart shall reioyce in him: because we haue trusted in his holy name.

GenevaSurely our heart shall reioyce in him, because we trusted in his holy Name.

כִּי ב֭/וֹ יִשְׂמַ֣ח לִבֵּ֑/נוּ כִּ֤י בְ/שֵׁ֖ם קָדְשׁ֣/וֹ בָטָֽחְנוּ

Let thy mercy (O LORD) be vpon vs: according as we hope in thee.

GenevaLet thy mercie, O Lord, be vpon vs, as we trust in thee.
