Giue eare to my prayer, O God: and hide not thy selfe from my supplication.
GenevaTo him that excelleth on Neginoth. A Psalme of David to give instruction. Heare my prayer, O God, and hide not thy selfe from my supplication.
לַ/מְנַצֵּ֥חַ בִּ/נְגִינֹ֗ת מַשְׂכִּ֥יל לְ/דָוִֽד
Attend vnto me, and heare me: I mourne in my complaint, and make a noise.
GenevaHearken vnto me, and answere me: I mourne in my prayer, and make a noyse,
הַאֲזִ֣ינָ/ה אֱ֭לֹהִים תְּפִלָּתִ֑/י וְ/אַל תִּ֝תְעַלַּ֗ם מִ/תְּחִנָּתִֽ/י
Because of the voyce of the enemie, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquitie vpon me, and in wrath they hate me.
GenevaFor the voyce of the enemie, and for the vexation of ye wicked, because they haue brought iniquitie vpon me, and furiously hate me.
הַקְשִׁ֣יבָ/ה לִּ֣/י וַ/עֲנֵ֑/נִי אָרִ֖יד בְּ/שִׂיחִ֣/י וְ/אָהִֽימָה
My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrours of death are fallen vpon me.
GenevaMine heart trembleth within mee, and the terrours of death are fallen vpon me.
מִ/קּ֤וֹל אוֹיֵ֗ב מִ/פְּנֵ֣י עָקַ֣ת רָשָׁ֑ע כִּי יָמִ֥יטוּ עָלַ֥/י אָ֝֗וֶן וּ/בְ/אַ֥ף יִשְׂטְמֽוּ/נִי
Fearefulnesse and trembling are come vpon me, and horrour hath ouerwhelmed me.
GenevaFeare and trembling are come vpon mee, and an horrible feare hath couered me.
לִ֭בִּ/י יָחִ֣יל בְּ/קִרְבִּ֑/י וְ/אֵימ֥וֹת מָ֝֗וֶת נָפְל֥וּ עָלָֽ/י
And I said, O that I had wings like a doue; for then would I flee away and be at rest.
GenevaAnd I said, Oh that I had wings like a doue: then would I flie away and rest.
יִרְאָ֣ה וָ֭/רַעַד יָ֣בֹא בִ֑/י וַ֝/תְּכַסֵּ֗/נִי פַּלָּצֽוּת
Loe, then would I wander farre off, and remaine in the wildernesse. Selah.
GenevaBeholde, I woulde take my flight farre off, and lodge in the wildernes. Selah.
וָ/אֹמַ֗ר מִֽי יִתֶּן לִּ֣/י אֵ֭בֶר כַּ/יּוֹנָ֗ה אָע֥וּפָה וְ/אֶשְׁכֹּֽנָה
I would hasten my escape from the windie storme, and tempest.
GenevaHee would make haste for my deliuerance from the stormie winde and tempest.
הִ֭נֵּה אַרְחִ֣יק נְדֹ֑ד אָלִ֖ין בַּ/מִּדְבָּ֣ר סֶֽלָה
Destroy, O Lord, and diuide their tongues: for I haue seene violence and strife in the citie.
GenevaDestroy, O Lord, and deuide their tongues: for I haue seene crueltie and strife in the citie.
אָחִ֣ישָׁה מִפְלָ֣ט לִ֑/י מֵ/ר֖וּחַ סֹעָ֣ה מִ/סָּֽעַר
Day and night they goe about it vpon the walles thereof: mischiefe also and sorrow are in the midst of it.

בַּלַּ֣ע אֲ֭דֹנָ/י פַּלַּ֣ג לְשׁוֹנָ֑/ם כִּֽי רָאִ֨יתִי חָמָ֖ס וְ/רִ֣יב בָּ/עִֽיר
Wickednesse is in the midst thereof: deceite and guile depart not from her streets.

יוֹמָ֤ם וָ/לַ֗יְלָה יְסוֹבְבֻ֥/הָ עַל חוֹמֹתֶ֑י/הָ וְ/אָ֖וֶן וְ/עָמָ֣ל בְּ/קִרְבָּֽ/הּ
For it was not an enemie that reproached me, then I could haue borne it, neither was it hee that hated me, that did magnifie himselfe against me, then I would haue hid my selfe from him.
GenevaSurely mine enemie did not defame mee: for I could haue borne it: neither did mine aduersarie exalt himselfe against mee: for I would haue hid me from him.
הַוּ֥וֹת בְּ/קִרְבָּ֑/הּ וְֽ/לֹא יָמִ֥ישׁ מֵ֝/רְחֹבָ֗/הּ תֹּ֣ךְ וּ/מִרְמָֽה
But it was thou, a man, mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.
GenevaBut it was thou, O man, euen my companion, my guide and my familiar:
כִּ֤י לֹֽא אוֹיֵ֥ב יְחָֽרְפֵ֗/נִי וְ/אֶ֫שָּׂ֥א לֹֽא מְ֭שַׂנְאִ/י עָלַ֣/י הִגְדִּ֑יל וְ/אֶסָּתֵ֥ר מִמֶּֽ/נּוּ
Wee tooke sweet counsell together, and walked vnto the house of God in companie.
GenevaWhich delited in consulting together, and went into the House of God as companions.
וְ/אַתָּ֣ה אֱנ֣וֹשׁ כְּ/עֶרְכִּ֑/י אַ֝לּוּפִ֗/י וּ/מְיֻדָּֽעִ/י
Let death seaze vpon them, and let them goe downe quicke into hell: for wickednes is in their dwellings, and among them.

אֲשֶׁ֣ר יַ֭חְדָּו נַמְתִּ֣יק ס֑וֹד בְּ/בֵ֥ית אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים נְהַלֵּ֥ךְ בְּ/רָֽגֶשׁ
As for me, I will call vpon God: and the LORD shall saue me.

ישימות עָלֵ֗י/מוֹ יֵרְד֣וּ שְׁא֣וֹל חַיִּ֑ים כִּֽי רָע֖וֹת בִּ/מְגוּרָ֣/ם בְּ/קִרְבָּֽ/ם
Euening and morning, and at noone will I pray, and crie aloud: and he shall heare my voyce.

אֲ֭נִי אֶל אֱלֹהִ֣ים אֶקְרָ֑א וַ֝/יהוָ֗ה יוֹשִׁיעֵֽ/נִי
He hath deliuered my soule in peace from the battell that was against me: for there were many with me.
GenevaHe hath deliuered my soule in peace from the battel, that was against me: for many were with me.
עֶ֤רֶב וָ/בֹ֣קֶר וְ֭/צָהֳרַיִם אָשִׂ֣יחָה וְ/אֶהֱמֶ֑ה וַ/יִּשְׁמַ֥ע קוֹלִֽ/י
God shall heare and afflict them, euen he that abideth of old, Selah: because they haue no changes, therefore they feare not God.

פָּ֘דָ֤ה בְ/שָׁל֣וֹם נַ֭פְשִׁ/י מִ/קֲּרָב לִ֑/י כִּֽי בְ֝/רַבִּ֗ים הָי֥וּ עִמָּדִֽ/י
He hath put foorth his handes against such as be at peace with him: he hath broken his couenant.

יִשְׁמַ֤ע אֵ֨ל וְֽ/יַעֲנֵ/ם֮ וְ/יֹ֤שֵׁ֥ב קֶ֗דֶם סֶ֥לָה אֲשֶׁ֤ר אֵ֣ין חֲלִיפ֣וֹת לָ֑/מוֹ וְ/לֹ֖א יָרְא֣וּ אֱלֹהִֽים
The words of his mouth were smoother then butter, but warre was in his heart: his words were softer then oyle, yet were they drawen swords.

שָׁלַ֣ח יָ֭דָי/ו בִּ/שְׁלֹמָ֗י/ו חִלֵּ֥ל בְּרִיתֽ/וֹ
Cast thy burden vpon the LORD, and he shall sustaine thee: hee shall neuer suffer the righteous to bee moued.
GenevaCast thy burden vpon the Lord, and hee shall nourish thee: he wil not suffer the righteous to fall for euer.
חָלְק֤וּ מַחְמָאֹ֣ת פִּי/ו֮ וּֽ/קֲרָב לִ֫בּ֥/וֹ רַכּ֖וּ דְבָרָ֥י/ו מִ/שֶּׁ֗מֶן וְ/הֵ֣מָּה פְתִחֽוֹת
But thou, O God, shalt bring them downe into the pit of destruction: Bloody and deceitfull men shall not liue out halfe their dayes, but I will trust in thee.
