In the eight moneth, in the seconde yeere of Darius, came the word of the LORD vnto Zechariah, the sonne of Barachiah, the sonne of Iddo the Prophet, saying,

בַּ/חֹ֨דֶשׁ֙ הַ/שְּׁמִינִ֔י בִּ/שְׁנַ֥ת שְׁתַּ֖יִם לְ/דָרְיָ֑וֶשׁ הָיָ֣ה דְבַר יְהוָ֗ה אֶל זְכַרְיָה֙ בֶּן בֶּ֣רֶכְיָ֔ה בֶּן עִדּ֥וֹ הַ/נָּבִ֖יא לֵ/אמֹֽר
The LORD hath bene sore displeased with your fathers.

קָצַ֧ף יְהוָ֛ה עַל אֲבֽוֹתֵי/כֶ֖ם קָֽצֶף
Therefore say thou vnto them, Thus saith the LORD of hostes; Turne ye vnto me, saith the LORD of hostes, and I will turne vnto you, saith the LORD of hostes.

וְ/אָמַרְתָּ֣ אֲלֵ/הֶ֗ם כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת שׁ֣וּבוּ אֵלַ֔/י נְאֻ֖ם יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת וְ/אָשׁ֣וּב אֲלֵי/כֶ֔ם אָמַ֖ר יְהוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת
Be ye not as your fathers, vnto whom the former Prophets haue cried, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hostes, Turne ye now from your euill wayes, and from your euil doings: but they did not heare, nor hearken vnto me, saith the LORD.

אַל תִּהְי֣וּ כַ/אֲבֹֽתֵי/כֶ֡ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר קָרְאֽוּ אֲלֵי/הֶם֩ הַ/נְּבִיאִ֨ים הָ/רִֽאשֹׁנִ֜ים לֵ/אמֹ֗ר כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת שׁ֤וּבוּ נָא֙ מִ/דַּרְכֵי/כֶ֣ם הָ/רָעִ֔ים ו/מעלילי/כם הָֽ/רָעִ֑ים וְ/לֹ֥א שָׁמְע֛וּ וְ/לֹֽא הִקְשִׁ֥יבוּ אֵלַ֖/י נְאֻם יְהוָֽה
Your fathers, where are they? and the Prophets, doe they liue for euer?
Genevayour fathers, where are they? and doe the Prophets liue for euer?
אֲבֽוֹתֵי/כֶ֖ם אַיֵּה הֵ֑ם וְ/הַ֨/נְּבִאִ֔ים הַ/לְ/עוֹלָ֖ם יִֽחְיֽוּ
But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my seruants the Prophets, did they not take holde of your fathers? and they returned and saide; Like as the LORD of hostes thought to doe vnto vs, according to our wayes, and according to our doings, so hath he dealt with vs.

אַ֣ךְ דְּבָרַ֣/י וְ/חֻקַּ֗/י אֲשֶׁ֤ר צִוִּ֨יתִי֙ אֶת עֲבָדַ֣/י הַ/נְּבִיאִ֔ים הֲ/ל֥וֹא הִשִּׂ֖יגוּ אֲבֹתֵי/כֶ֑ם וַ/יָּשׁ֣וּבוּ וַ/יֹּאמְר֗וּ כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֨ר זָמַ֜ם יְהוָ֤ה צְבָאוֹת֙ לַ/עֲשׂ֣וֹת לָ֔/נוּ כִּ/דְרָכֵ֨י/נוּ֙ וּ/כְ/מַ֣עֲלָלֵ֔י/נוּ כֵּ֖ן עָשָׂ֥ה אִתָּֽ/נוּ
¶ Upon the foure and twentieth day of the eleuenth moneth, which is the moneth Sebat, in the second yere of Darius, came the word of the LORD vnto Zechariah, the sonne of Barachiah, the sonne of Iddo the Prophet, saying:

בְּ/יוֹם֩ עֶשְׂרִ֨ים וְ/אַרְבָּעָ֜ה לְ/עַשְׁתֵּֽי עָשָׂ֥ר חֹ֨דֶשׁ֙ הוּא חֹ֣דֶשׁ שְׁבָ֔ט בִּ/שְׁנַ֥ת שְׁתַּ֖יִם לְ/דָרְיָ֑וֶשׁ הָיָ֣ה דְבַר יְהוָ֗ה אֶל זְכַרְיָה֙ בֶּן בֶּ֣רֶכְיָ֔הוּ בֶּן עִדּ֥וֹא הַ/נָּבִ֖יא לֵ/אמֹֽר
I saw by night, and behold a man riding vpon a red horse, and he stood among the mirtle trees that were in the bottome, and behinde him were there red horses, speckled and white.

רָאִ֣יתִי הַ/לַּ֗יְלָה וְ/הִנֵּה אִישׁ֙ רֹכֵב֙ עַל ס֣וּס אָדֹ֔ם וְ/ה֣וּא עֹמֵ֔ד בֵּ֥ין הַ/הֲדַסִּ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּ/מְּצֻלָ֑ה וְ/אַחֲרָי/ו֙ סוּסִ֣ים אֲדֻמִּ֔ים שְׂרֻקִּ֖ים וּ/לְבָנִֽים
Then said I, O my Lord, what are these? And the Angel that talked with me, said vnto me, I wil shew thee what these be.

וָ/אֹמַ֖ר מָה אֵ֣לֶּה אֲדֹנִ֑/י וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֗/י הַ/מַּלְאָךְ֙ הַ/דֹּבֵ֣ר בִּ֔/י אֲנִ֥י אַרְאֶ֖/ךָּ מָה הֵ֥מָּה אֵֽלֶּה
And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered, and said, These are they, whom the LORD hath sent to walke to and fro through the earth.
GenevaAnd the man that stood among the mirre trees, answered, and sayd, These are they whome the Lord hath sent to go through the world.
וַ/יַּ֗עַן הָ/אִ֛ישׁ הָ/עֹמֵ֥ד בֵּין הַ/הַדַסִּ֖ים וַ/יֹּאמַ֑ר אֵ֚לֶּה אֲשֶׁ֣ר שָׁלַ֣ח יְהוָ֔ה לְ/הִתְהַלֵּ֖ךְ בָּ/אָֽרֶץ
And they answered the Angel of the LORD that stood among the mirtle trees, and said, Wee haue walked to and fro through the earth: and behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest.
GenevaAnd they answered the Angel of the Lord, that stood among the mirre trees, and sayd, We haue gone thorowe the world: and beholde, all the world sitteth still, and is at rest.
וַֽ/יַּעֲנ֞וּ אֶת מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהוָ֗ה הָֽ/עֹמֵד֙ בֵּ֣ין הַ/הֲדַסִּ֔ים וַ/יֹּאמְר֖וּ הִתְהַלַּ֣כְנוּ בָ/אָ֑רֶץ וְ/הִנֵּ֥ה כָל הָ/אָ֖רֶץ יֹשֶׁ֥בֶת וְ/שֹׁקָֽטֶת
¶ Then the Angel of the LORD answered, and said, O LORD of hosts, how long wilt thou not haue mercie on Ierusalem, and on the cities of Iudah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten yeeres?
GenevaThen the Angel of the Lord answered and sayd, O Lord of hostes, howe long wilt thou be vnmercifull to Ierusalem, and to the cities of Iudah, with whom thou hast bene displeased now these threescore and ten yeeres?
וַ/יַּ֣עַן מַלְאַךְ יְהוָה֮ וַ/יֹּאמַר֒ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת עַד מָתַ֗י אַתָּה֙ לֹֽא תְרַחֵ֣ם אֶת יְרוּשָׁלִַ֔ם וְ/אֵ֖ת עָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֑ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר זָעַ֔מְתָּה זֶ֖ה שִׁבְעִ֥ים שָׁנָֽה
And the LORD answered the Angel that talked with me, with good words, and comfortable words.

וַ/יַּ֣עַן יְהוָ֗ה אֶת הַ/מַּלְאָ֛ךְ הַ/דֹּבֵ֥ר בִּ֖/י דְּבָרִ֣ים טוֹבִ֑ים דְּבָרִ֖ים נִחֻמִֽים
So the Angel that communed with me, said vnto me; Cry thou, saying; Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I am iealous for Ierusalem, and for Zion, with a great iealousie.
GenevaSo the Angel that communed with me, said vnto me, Crie thou, and speake, Thus saith the Lord of hostes, I am ielous ouer Ierusalem and Zion with a great zeale,
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֗/י הַ/מַּלְאָךְ֙ הַ/דֹּבֵ֣ר בִּ֔/י קְרָ֣א לֵ/אמֹ֔ר כֹּ֥ה אָמַ֖ר יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת קִנֵּ֧אתִי לִ/ירוּשָׁלִַ֛ם וּ/לְ/צִיּ֖וֹן קִנְאָ֥ה גְדוֹלָֽה
And I am very sore displeased with the heathen that are at ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction.

וְ/קֶ֤צֶף גָּדוֹל֙ אֲנִ֣י קֹצֵ֔ף עַל הַ/גּוֹיִ֖ם הַ/שַּֽׁאֲנַנִּ֑ים אֲשֶׁ֤ר אֲנִי֙ קָצַ֣פְתִּי מְּעָ֔ט וְ/הֵ֖מָּה עָזְר֥וּ לְ/רָעָֽה
Therefore thus saith the LORD, I am returned to Ierusalem with mercies: my house shall bee built in it, saith the LORD of hostes, and a line shalbe stretched forth vpon Ierusalem.
GenevaTherefore thus saith the Lord, I wil returne vnto Ierusalem with tender mercie: mine house shall be builded in it, saith the Lord of hostes, and a line shall be stretched vpon Ierusalem.
לָ/כֵ֞ן כֹּֽה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה שַׁ֤בְתִּי לִ/ירוּשָׁלִַ֨ם֙ בְּֽ/רַחֲמִ֔ים בֵּיתִ/י֙ יִבָּ֣נֶה בָּ֔/הּ נְאֻ֖ם יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת ו/קוה יִנָּטֶ֖ה עַל יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם
Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hostes, My cities through prosperitie shall yet be spread abroad, and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Ierusalem.

Then said I, What come these to doe? And hee spake, saying, These are the hornes which haue scattered Iudah, so that no man did lift vp his head: but these are come to fray them, to cast out the hornes of the Gentiles, which lift vp their horne ouer the land of Iudah to scatter it.
