Ecclesiastes 11

Cast thy bread vpon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many dayes.

שַׁלַּ֥ח לַחְמְ/ךָ֖ עַל פְּנֵ֣י הַ/מָּ֑יִם כִּֽי בְ/רֹ֥ב הַ/יָּמִ֖ים תִּמְצָאֶֽ/נּוּ

Giue a portion to seuen and also to eight; for thou knowest noc what euill shall be vpon the earth.

תֶּן חֵ֥לֶק לְ/שִׁבְעָ֖ה וְ/גַ֣ם לִ/שְׁמוֹנָ֑ה כִּ֚י לֹ֣א תֵדַ֔ע מַה יִּהְיֶ֥ה רָעָ֖ה עַל הָ/אָֽרֶץ

If the clouds be full of raine, they emptie themselues vpon the earth: and if the tree fall toward the South, or toward the North, in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be.

GenevaIf the clouds be full, they wil powre forth raine vpon the earth: and if the tree doe fall toward the South, or toward the North, in the place that the tree falleth, there it shalbe.

אִם יִמָּלְא֨וּ הֶ/עָבִ֥ים גֶּ֨שֶׁם֙ עַל הָ/אָ֣רֶץ יָרִ֔יקוּ וְ/אִם יִפּ֥וֹל עֵ֛ץ בַּ/דָּר֖וֹם וְ/אִ֣ם בַּ/צָּפ֑וֹן מְק֛וֹם שֶׁ/יִּפּ֥וֹל הָ/עֵ֖ץ שָׁ֥ם יְהֽוּא

He that obserueth the wind, shall not sow: and hee that regardeth the clouds, shall not reape.

GenevaHe that obserueth ye winde, shall not sow, and he that regardeth the cloudes, shall not reape.

שֹׁמֵ֥ר ר֖וּחַ לֹ֣א יִזְרָ֑ע וְ/רֹאֶ֥ה בֶ/עָבִ֖ים לֹ֥א יִקְצֽוֹר

As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones doe growe in the wombe of her that is with child: euen so thou knowest not the workes of God who maketh all.

GenevaAs thou knowest not which is ye way of the spirit, nor how the bones doe growe in the wombe of her that is with child: so thou knowest not the worke of God that worketh all.

כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֨ר אֵֽינְ/ךָ֤ יוֹדֵ֨עַ֙ מַה דֶּ֣רֶךְ הָ/ר֔וּחַ כַּ/עֲצָמִ֖ים בְּ/בֶ֣טֶן הַ/מְּלֵאָ֑ה כָּ֗כָה לֹ֤א תֵדַע֙ אֶת מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה הָֽ/אֱלֹהִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר יַעֲשֶׂ֖ה אֶת הַ/כֹּֽל

In the morning sowe thy seede, and in the euening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good.

בַּ/בֹּ֨קֶר֙ זְרַ֣ע אֶת זַרְעֶ֔/ךָ וְ/לָ/עֶ֖רֶב אַל תַּנַּ֣ח יָדֶ֑/ךָ כִּי֩ אֵֽינְ/ךָ֨ יוֹדֵ֜ע אֵ֣י זֶ֤ה יִכְשָׁר֙ הֲ/זֶ֣ה אוֹ זֶ֔ה וְ/אִם שְׁנֵי/הֶ֥ם כְּ/אֶחָ֖ד טוֹבִֽים

¶ Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing is it for the eyes to behold the sunne.

GenevaSurely the light is a pleasant thing: and it is a good thing to the eyes to see the sunne.

וּ/מָת֖וֹק הָ/א֑וֹר וְ/ט֥וֹב לַֽ/עֵינַ֖יִם לִ/רְא֥וֹת אֶת הַ/שָּֽׁמֶשׁ

But if a man liue many yeeres, and reioyce in them all; yet let him remember the dayes of darkenesse, for they shall be many. All that commeth is vanitie.

GenevaThough a man liue many yeeres, and in them all he reioyce, yet hee shall remember the daies of darkenesse, because they are manie, all that commeth is vanitie.

כִּ֣י אִם שָׁנִ֥ים הַרְבֵּ֛ה יִחְיֶ֥ה הָ/אָדָ֖ם בְּ/כֻלָּ֣/ם יִשְׂמָ֑ח וְ/יִזְכֹּר֙ אֶת יְמֵ֣י הַ/חֹ֔שֶׁךְ כִּֽי הַרְבֵּ֥ה יִהְי֖וּ כָּל שֶׁ/בָּ֥א הָֽבֶל

¶ Reioyce, O young man, in thy youth, and let thy heart cheere thee in the dayes of thy youth, and walke in the wayes of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things, God will bring thee into iudgement.

GenevaReioyce, O yong man, in thy youth, and let thine heart cheere thee in the dayes of thy youth: and walke in the waies of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but knowe that for all these things, God wil bring thee to iudgement.

שְׂמַ֧ח בָּח֣וּר בְּ/יַלְדוּתֶ֗י/ךָ וִֽ/יטִֽיבְ/ךָ֤ לִבְּ/ךָ֙ בִּ/ימֵ֣י בְחוּרוֹתֶ֔/ךָ וְ/הַלֵּךְ֙ בְּ/דַרְכֵ֣י לִבְּ/ךָ֔ וּ/בְ/מַרְאֵ֖י עֵינֶ֑י/ךָ וְ/דָ֕ע כִּ֧י עַל כָּל אֵ֛לֶּה יְבִֽיאֲ/ךָ֥ הָ/אֱלֹהִ֖ים בַּ/מִּשְׁפָּֽט

Therefore remoue sorrow from thy heart, and put away euill from thy flesh; for child-hood & youth are vanitie.

GenevaTherefore take away griefe out of thine heart, and cause euil to depart from thy flesh: for childehood and youth are vanitie.

וְ/הָסֵ֥ר כַּ֨עַס֙ מִ/לִּבֶּ֔/ךָ וְ/הַעֲבֵ֥ר רָעָ֖ה מִ/בְּשָׂרֶ֑/ךָ כִּֽי הַ/יַּלְד֥וּת וְ/הַֽ/שַּׁחֲר֖וּת הָֽבֶל
