Chapter 15
Genesis 15
After these things, the word of the LORD came vnto Abram in a vision, saying; Feare not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.
GenevaAfter these things, the worde of the Lord came vnto Abram in a vision, saying, Feare not, Abram, I am thy buckler, and thine exceeding great reward.
אַחַ֣ר הַ/דְּבָרִ֣ים הָ/אֵ֗לֶּה הָיָ֤ה דְבַר יְהוָה֙ אֶל אַבְרָ֔ם בַּֽ/מַּחֲזֶ֖ה לֵ/אמֹ֑ר אַל תִּירָ֣א אַבְרָ֗ם אָנֹכִי֙ מָגֵ֣ן לָ֔/ךְ שְׂכָרְ/ךָ֖ הַרְבֵּ֥ה מְאֹֽד
And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou giue me, seeing I goe childlesse? and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus.
GenevaAnd Abram said, O Lord God, what wilt thou giue me, seeing I goe childlesse, and the steward of mine house is this Eliezer of Damascus?
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אַבְרָ֗ם אֲדֹנָ֤/י יֱהוִה֙ מַה תִּתֶּן לִ֔/י וְ/אָנֹכִ֖י הוֹלֵ֣ךְ עֲרִירִ֑י וּ/בֶן מֶ֣שֶׁק בֵּיתִ֔/י ה֖וּא דַּמֶּ֥שֶׂק אֱלִיעֶֽזֶר
And Abram said; Behold, to mee thou hast given no seed: and loe, one borne in my house is mine heire.
GenevaAgaine Abram saide, Beholde, to me thou hast giuen no seede: wherefore loe, a seruant of mine house shalbe mine heire.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אַבְרָ֔ם הֵ֣ן לִ֔/י לֹ֥א נָתַ֖תָּה זָ֑רַע וְ/הִנֵּ֥ה בֶן בֵּיתִ֖/י יוֹרֵ֥שׁ אֹתִֽ/י
And behold, the word of the LORD came vnto him, saying; This shall not be thine heire: but he that shall come foorth out of thy owne bowels, shalbe thine heire.
GenevaThen beholde, the worde of the Lord came vnto him, saying, This man shall not be thine heire, but one that shall come out of thine owne bowels, he shalbe thine heire.
וְ/הִנֵּ֨ה דְבַר יְהוָ֤ה אֵלָי/ו֙ לֵ/אמֹ֔ר לֹ֥א יִֽירָשְׁ/ךָ֖ זֶ֑ה כִּי אִם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יֵצֵ֣א מִ/מֵּעֶ֔י/ךָ ה֖וּא יִֽירָשֶֽׁ/ךָ
And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Looke now towards heauen, and tell the starres, if thou be able to number them. And hee said vnto him, So shall thy seed be.
GenevaMoreouer he brought him forth and said, Looke vp nowe vnto heauen, and tell ye starres, if thou be able to number them: and he said vnto him, So shall thy seede be.
וַ/יּוֹצֵ֨א אֹת֜/וֹ הַ/ח֗וּצָ/ה וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר֙ הַבֶּט נָ֣א הַ/שָּׁמַ֗יְמָ/ה וּ/סְפֹר֙ הַ/כּ֣וֹכָבִ֔ים אִם תּוּכַ֖ל לִ/סְפֹּ֣ר אֹתָ֑/ם וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר ל֔/וֹ כֹּ֥ה יִהְיֶ֖ה זַרְעֶֽ/ךָ
And he beleeued in the LORD; and hee counted it to him for righteousnesse.
GenevaAnd Abram beleeued the Lord, and he counted that to him for righteousnesse.
וְ/הֶאֱמִ֖ן בַּֽ/יהוָ֑ה וַ/יַּחְשְׁבֶ֥/הָ לּ֖/וֹ צְדָקָֽה
And he said vnto him; I am the LORD that brought thee out of Ur of the Caldees, to give thee this land, to inherit it.
GenevaAgaine he saide vnto him, I am the Lord, that brought thee out of Vr of the Caldees, to giue thee this land to inherite it.
וַ/יֹּ֖אמֶר אֵלָ֑י/ו אֲנִ֣י יְהוָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֤ר הוֹצֵאתִ֨י/ךָ֙ מֵ/א֣וּר כַּשְׂדִּ֔ים לָ֧/תֶת לְ/ךָ֛ אֶת הָ/אָ֥רֶץ הַ/זֹּ֖את לְ/רִשְׁתָּֽ/הּ
And he said, Lord GOD, whereby shal I know that I shall inherit it?
GenevaAnd he said, O Lord God, whereby shall I knowe that I shall inherite it?
וַ/יֹּאמַ֑ר אֲדֹנָ֣/י יֱהוִ֔ה בַּ/מָּ֥ה אֵדַ֖ע כִּ֥י אִֽירָשֶֽׁ/נָּה
And he said vnto him, Take me an heifer of three yeeres old, and a shee goat of three yeeres old, and a ramme of three yeeres old, and a turtle doue, and a yong pigeon.
GenevaThen he said vnto him, Take me an heifer of three yeeres olde, and a shee goate of three yeeres olde, and a ramme of three yeeres olde, a turtle doue also and a pigeon.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֗י/ו קְחָ֥/ה לִ/י֙ עֶגְלָ֣ה מְשֻׁלֶּ֔שֶׁת וְ/עֵ֥ז מְשֻׁלֶּ֖שֶׁת וְ/אַ֣יִל מְשֻׁלָּ֑שׁ וְ/תֹ֖ר וְ/גוֹזָֽל
And he tooke vnto him all these, and diuided them in the midst, and layd each peece one against another: but the birds diuided he not.
GenevaSo he tooke all these vnto him, and deuided them into the middes, and laid euery piece one against an other: but the birdes deuided he not.
וַ/יִּֽקַּֽח ל֣/וֹ אֶת כָּל אֵ֗לֶּה וַ/יְבַתֵּ֤ר אֹתָ/ם֙ בַּ/תָּ֔וֶךְ וַ/יִּתֵּ֥ן אִישׁ בִּתְר֖/וֹ לִ/קְרַ֣את רֵעֵ֑/הוּ וְ/אֶת הַ/צִפֹּ֖ר לֹ֥א בָתָֽר
And when the fowles came downe vpon the carcases, Abram droue them away.
GenevaThen foules fell on the carkases, and Abram droue them away.
וַ/יֵּ֥רֶד הָ/עַ֖יִט עַל הַ/פְּגָרִ֑ים וַ/יַּשֵּׁ֥ב אֹתָ֖/ם אַבְרָֽם
And when the Sunne was going downe, a deepe sleepe fell vpon Abram: and loe, an horrour of great darkenesse fell vpon him.
GenevaAnd when the sunne went downe, there fell an heauie sleepe vpon Abram: and loe, a very fearefull darkenes fell vpon him.
וַ/יְהִ֤י הַ/שֶּׁ֨מֶשׁ֙ לָ/ב֔וֹא וְ/תַרְדֵּמָ֖ה נָפְלָ֣ה עַל אַבְרָ֑ם וְ/הִנֵּ֥ה אֵימָ֛ה חֲשֵׁכָ֥ה גְדֹלָ֖ה נֹפֶ֥לֶת עָלָֽי/ו
And he said vnto Abram, Know of a surety, that thy seed shalbe a stranger, in a land that is not theirs, and shal serue them, and they shall afflict them foure hundred yeeres.
GenevaThen he saide to Abram, Knowe for a suretie, that thy seede shalbe a stranger in a land, that is not theirs, foure hundreth yeeres, and shall serue them: and they shall intreate them euill.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר לְ/אַבְרָ֗ם יָדֹ֨עַ תֵּדַ֜ע כִּי גֵ֣ר יִהְיֶ֣ה זַרְעֲ/ךָ֗ בְּ/אֶ֨רֶץ֙ לֹ֣א לָ/הֶ֔ם וַ/עֲבָד֖וּ/ם וְ/עִנּ֣וּ אֹתָ֑/ם אַרְבַּ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָֽה
And also that nation whom they shall serue, wil I iudge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.
GenevaNotwithstanding the nation, whom they shall serue, will I iudge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.
וְ/גַ֧ם אֶת הַ/גּ֛וֹי אֲשֶׁ֥ר יַעֲבֹ֖דוּ דָּ֣ן אָנֹ֑כִי וְ/אַחֲרֵי כֵ֥ן יֵצְא֖וּ בִּ/רְכֻ֥שׁ גָּדֽוֹל
And thou shalt goe to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.
GenevaBut thou shalt goe vnto thy fathers in peace, and shalt be buried in a good age.
וְ/אַתָּ֛ה תָּב֥וֹא אֶל אֲבֹתֶ֖י/ךָ בְּ/שָׁל֑וֹם תִּקָּבֵ֖ר בְּ/שֵׂיבָ֥ה טוֹבָֽה
But in the fourth generation they shall come hither againe: for the iniquitie of the Amorites is not yet full.
GenevaAnd in the fourth generation they shall come hither againe: for the wickednes of the Amorites is not yet full.
וְ/ד֥וֹר רְבִיעִ֖י יָשׁ֣וּבוּ הֵ֑נָּה כִּ֧י לֹא שָׁלֵ֛ם עֲוֺ֥ן הָ/אֱמֹרִ֖י עַד הֵֽנָּה
And it came to passe that when the Sunne went downe, and it was darke, behold, a smoking furnace, and a burning lampe that passed betweene those pieces.
GenevaAlso when the sunne went downe, there was a darkenes: and behold, a smoking fornace, and a firebrand, which went betweene those pieces.
וַ/יְהִ֤י הַ/שֶּׁ֨מֶשׁ֙ בָּ֔אָה וַ/עֲלָטָ֖ה הָיָ֑ה וְ/הִנֵּ֨ה תַנּ֤וּר עָשָׁן֙ וְ/לַפִּ֣יד אֵ֔שׁ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָבַ֔ר בֵּ֖ין הַ/גְּזָרִ֥ים הָ/אֵֽלֶּה
In that same day the LORD made a couenant with Abram, saying; Unto thy seed haue I giuen this land from the riuer of Egypt vnto the great riuer, the riuer Euphrates:
GenevaIn that same day the Lord made a couenant with Abram, saying, Vnto thy seede haue I giuen this lande, from the riuer of Egypt vnto the great riuer, the riuer Euphrates.
בַּ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/ה֗וּא כָּרַ֧ת יְהוָ֛ה אֶת אַבְרָ֖ם בְּרִ֣ית לֵ/אמֹ֑ר לְ/זַרְעֲ/ךָ֗ נָתַ֨תִּי֙ אֶת הָ/אָ֣רֶץ הַ/זֹּ֔את מִ/נְּהַ֣ר מִצְרַ֔יִם עַד הַ/נָּהָ֥ר הַ/גָּדֹ֖ל נְהַר פְּרָֽת
The Kenites, and the Kenizites, and the Kadmonites:
GenevaThe Kenites, and the Kenizites, and the Kadmonites,
אֶת הַ/קֵּינִי֙ וְ/אֶת הַ/קְּנִזִּ֔י וְ/אֵ֖ת הַ/קַּדְמֹנִֽי
And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,
GenevaAnd the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,
וְ/אֶת הַ/חִתִּ֥י וְ/אֶת הַ/פְּרִזִּ֖י וְ/אֶת הָ/רְפָאִֽים
And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Iebusites.
GenevaThe Amorites also, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Iebusites.
וְ/אֶת הָֽ/אֱמֹרִי֙ וְ/אֶת הַֽ/כְּנַעֲנִ֔י וְ/אֶת הַ/גִּרְגָּשִׁ֖י וְ/אֶת הַ/יְבוּסִֽי
