Genesis 16
Now Sarai Abrams wife bare him no children: and she had an handmaide, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar.
GenevaNowe Sarai Abrams wife bare him no children, and she had a maide an Egyptian, Hagar by name.
וְ/שָׂרַי֙ אֵ֣שֶׁת אַבְרָ֔ם לֹ֥א יָלְדָ֖ה ל֑/וֹ וְ/לָ֛/הּ שִׁפְחָ֥ה מִצְרִ֖ית וּ/שְׁמָ֥/הּ הָגָֽר
And Sarai said vnto Abram, Behold now, the LORD hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee go in vnto my maid: it may bee that I may obtaine children by her: and Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai.
GenevaAnd Sarai said vnto Abram, Beholde now, the Lord hath restrained me from childe bearing. I pray thee goe in vnto my maide: it may be that I shall receiue a childe by her. And Abram obeyed the voyce of Sarai.
וַ/תֹּ֨אמֶר שָׂרַ֜י אֶל אַבְרָ֗ם הִנֵּה נָ֞א עֲצָרַ֤/נִי יְהוָה֙ מִ/לֶּ֔דֶת בֹּא נָא֙ אֶל שִׁפְחָתִ֔/י אוּלַ֥י אִבָּנֶ֖ה מִמֶּ֑/נָּה וַ/יִּשְׁמַ֥ע אַבְרָ֖ם לְ/ק֥וֹל שָׂרָֽי
And Sarai Abrams wife, tooke Hagar her maid, the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten yeeres in the land of Canaan, and gaue her to her husband Abram, to be his wife.

וַ/תִּקַּ֞ח שָׂרַ֣י אֵֽשֶׁת אַבְרָ֗ם אֶת הָגָ֤ר הַ/מִּצְרִית֙ שִׁפְחָתָ֔/הּ מִ/קֵּץ֙ עֶ֣שֶׂר שָׁנִ֔ים לְ/שֶׁ֥בֶת אַבְרָ֖ם בְּ/אֶ֣רֶץ כְּנָ֑עַן וַ/תִּתֵּ֥ן אֹתָ֛/הּ לְ/אַבְרָ֥ם אִישָׁ֖/הּ ל֥/וֹ לְ/אִשָּֽׁה
¶ And he went in vnto Hagar, and she conceiued: And when shee saw that shee had conceiued, her mistresse was despised in her eyes.
GenevaAnd he went in vnto Hagar, and she conceiued. and when she sawe that she had conceiued, her dame was despised in her eyes.
וַ/יָּבֹ֥א אֶל הָגָ֖ר וַ/תַּ֑הַר וַ/תֵּ֨רֶא֙ כִּ֣י הָרָ֔תָה וַ/תֵּקַ֥ל גְּבִרְתָּ֖/הּ בְּ/עֵינֶֽי/הָ
And Sarai said vnto Abram, My wrong be vpon thee: I haue giuen my maid into thy bosome, and when shee saw that she had conceiued, I was despised in her eyes: the LORD iudge betweene me and thee.
GenevaThen Sarai saide to Abram, Thou doest me wrong. I haue giuen my maide into thy bosome, and she seeth that she hath conceiued, and I am despised in her eyes: the Lord iudge betweene me and thee.
וַ/תֹּ֨אמֶר שָׂרַ֣י אֶל אַבְרָם֮ חֲמָסִ֣/י עָלֶי/ךָ֒ אָנֹכִ֗י נָתַ֤תִּי שִׁפְחָתִ/י֙ בְּ/חֵיקֶ֔/ךָ וַ/תֵּ֨רֶא֙ כִּ֣י הָרָ֔תָה וָ/אֵקַ֖ל בְּ/עֵינֶ֑י/הָ יִשְׁפֹּ֥ט יְהוָ֖ה בֵּינִ֥/י וּ/בֵינֶֽיׄ/ךָ
But Abram said vnto Sarai, Behold, thy maid is in thy hand; doe to her as it pleaseth thee. And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, shee fled from her face.
GenevaThen Abram saide to Sarai, Beholde, thy maide is in thine hand: doe with her as it pleaseth thee. Then Sarai dealt roughly with her: wherefore she fled from her.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר אַבְרָ֜ם אֶל שָׂרַ֗י הִנֵּ֤ה שִׁפְחָתֵ/ךְ֙ בְּ/יָדֵ֔/ךְ עֲשִׂי לָ֖/הּ הַ/טּ֣וֹב בְּ/עֵינָ֑יִ/ךְ וַ/תְּעַנֶּ֣/הָ שָׂרַ֔י וַ/תִּבְרַ֖ח מִ/פָּנֶֽי/הָ
¶ And the Angel of the LORD found her by a fountaine of water, in the wildernesse, by the fountaine, in the way to Shur:
GenevaBut the Angel of the Lord founde her beside a fountaine of water in the wildernesse by the fountaine in the way to Shur,
וַֽ/יִּמְצָאָ֞/הּ מַלְאַ֧ךְ יְהוָ֛ה עַל עֵ֥ין הַ/מַּ֖יִם בַּ/מִּדְבָּ֑ר עַל הָ/עַ֖יִן בְּ/דֶ֥רֶךְ שֽׁוּר
And he said, Hagar Sarais maid, whence camest thou? and whither wilt thou goe? And she said, I flee from the face of my mistresse Sarai.
GenevaAnd he saide, Hagar Sarais maide, whence commest thou? and whither wilt thou goe? And she said, I flie from my dame Sarai.
וַ/יֹּאמַ֗ר הָגָ֞ר שִׁפְחַ֥ת שָׂרַ֛י אֵֽי מִ/זֶּ֥ה בָ֖את וְ/אָ֣נָה תֵלֵ֑כִי וַ/תֹּ֕אמֶר מִ/פְּנֵי֙ שָׂרַ֣י גְּבִרְתִּ֔/י אָנֹכִ֖י בֹּרַֽחַת
And the Angel of the LORD said vnto her, Returne to thy mistresse, and submit thy selfe vnder her hands.
GenevaThen the Angel of the Lord saide to her, Returne to thy dame, and humble thy selfe vnder her hands.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר לָ/הּ֙ מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהוָ֔ה שׁ֖וּבִי אֶל גְּבִרְתֵּ֑/ךְ וְ/הִתְעַנִּ֖י תַּ֥חַת יָדֶֽי/הָ
And the Angel of the LORD said vnto her, I will multiply thy seede exceedingly, that it shall not be numbred for multitude.
GenevaAgaine the Angel of the Lord saide vnto her, I will so greatly increase thy seede, that it shall not be numbred for multitude.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר לָ/הּ֙ מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהוָ֔ה הַרְבָּ֥ה אַרְבֶּ֖ה אֶת זַרְעֵ֑/ךְ וְ/לֹ֥א יִסָּפֵ֖ר מֵ/רֹֽב
And the Angel of the LORD said vnto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt beare a sonne, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.
GenevaAlso the Angel of the Lord said vnto her, See, thou art with childe, and shalt beare a sonne, and shalt call his name Ishmael: for the Lord hath heard thy tribulation.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר לָ/הּ֙ מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהוָ֔ה הִנָּ֥/ךְ הָרָ֖ה וְ/יֹלַ֣דְתְּ בֵּ֑ן וְ/קָרָ֤את שְׁמ/וֹ֙ יִשְׁמָעֵ֔אל כִּֽי שָׁמַ֥ע יְהוָ֖ה אֶל עָנְיֵֽ/ךְ
And he will be a wilde man; his hand will be against euery man, and euery mans hand against him: & he shal dwell in the presence of all his brethren.
GenevaAnd he shalbe a wilde man: his hande shall be against euery man, and euery mans hand against him. and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.
וְ/ה֤וּא יִהְיֶה֙ פֶּ֣רֶא אָדָ֔ם יָד֣/וֹ בַ/כֹּ֔ל וְ/יַ֥ד כֹּ֖ל בּ֑/וֹ וְ/עַל פְּנֵ֥י כָל אֶחָ֖י/ו יִשְׁכֹּֽן
And shee called the name of the LORD that spake vnto her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Haue I also here looked after him that seeth me?
GenevaThen she called the name of the Lord, that spake vnto her, Thou God lookest on me: for she said, Haue I not also here looked after him that seeth me?
וַ/תִּקְרָ֤א שֵׁם יְהוָה֙ הַ/דֹּבֵ֣ר אֵלֶ֔י/הָ אַתָּ֖ה אֵ֣ל רֳאִ֑י כִּ֣י אָֽמְרָ֗ה הֲ/גַ֥ם הֲלֹ֛ם רָאִ֖יתִי אַחֲרֵ֥י רֹאִֽ/י
Wherefore the well was called, Beer-lahai-roi: Behold, It is betweene Cadesh and Bered.

עַל כֵּן֙ קָרָ֣א לַ/בְּאֵ֔ר בְּאֵ֥ר לַחַ֖י רֹאִ֑י הִנֵּ֥ה בֵין קָדֵ֖שׁ וּ/בֵ֥ין בָּֽרֶד
¶ And Hagar bare Abram a sonne: and Abram called his sonnes name, which Hagar bare, Ishmael.
GenevaAnd Hagar bare Abram a sonne, and Abram called his sonnes name, which Hagar bare, Ishmael.
וַ/תֵּ֧לֶד הָגָ֛ר לְ/אַבְרָ֖ם בֵּ֑ן וַ/יִּקְרָ֨א אַבְרָ֧ם שֶׁם בְּנ֛/וֹ אֲשֶׁר יָלְדָ֥ה הָגָ֖ר יִשְׁמָעֵֽאל
And Abram was fourescore and sixe yeeres old, when Hagar bare Ishmael to Abram.
GenevaAnd Abram was foure score and sixe yeere olde, when Hagar bare him Ishmael.
וְ/אַבְרָ֕ם בֶּן שְׁמֹנִ֥ים שָׁנָ֖ה וְ/שֵׁ֣שׁ שָׁנִ֑ים בְּ/לֶֽדֶת הָגָ֥ר אֶת יִשְׁמָעֵ֖אל לְ/אַבְרָֽם
