Genesis 20
And Abraham iourneyed from thence, toward the South-Countrey, and dwelled betweene Cadesh and Shur, and soiourned in Gerar.

וַ/יִּסַּ֨ע מִ/שָּׁ֤ם אַבְרָהָם֙ אַ֣רְצָ/ה הַ/נֶּ֔גֶב וַ/יֵּ֥שֶׁב בֵּין קָדֵ֖שׁ וּ/בֵ֣ין שׁ֑וּר וַ/יָּ֖גָר בִּ/גְרָֽר
And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: And Abimelech King of Gerar sent, and tooke Sarah.
GenevaAnd Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister. Then Abimelech King of Gerar sent and tooke Sarah.
וַ/יֹּ֧אמֶר אַבְרָהָ֛ם אֶל שָׂרָ֥ה אִשְׁתּ֖/וֹ אֲחֹ֣תִ/י הִ֑וא וַ/יִּשְׁלַ֗ח אֲבִימֶ֨לֶךְ֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ גְּרָ֔ר וַ/יִּקַּ֖ח אֶת שָׂרָֽה
But God came to Abimelech in a dreame by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken: for shee is a mans wife.
GenevaBut God came to Abimelech in a dreame by night, and said to him, Beholde, thou art but dead, because of the woman, which thou hast taken: for she is a mans wife.
וַ/יָּבֹ֧א אֱלֹהִ֛ים אֶל אֲבִימֶ֖לֶךְ בַּ/חֲל֣וֹם הַ/לָּ֑יְלָה וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר ל֗/וֹ הִנְּ/ךָ֥ מֵת֙ עַל הָ/אִשָּׁ֣ה אֲשֶׁר לָקַ֔חְתָּ וְ/הִ֖וא בְּעֻ֥לַת בָּֽעַל
But Abimelech had not come neere her: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation?
Geneva(Notwithstanding Abimelech had not yet come neere her) And he said, Lord, wilt thou slay euen the righteous nation?
וַ/אֲבִימֶ֕לֶךְ לֹ֥א קָרַ֖ב אֵלֶ֑י/הָ וַ/יֹּאמַ֕ר אֲדֹנָ֕/י הֲ/ג֥וֹי גַּם צַדִּ֖יק תַּהֲרֹֽג
Said he not vnto me, She is my sister? and she, euen she herselfe said, Hee is my brother: in the integritie of my heart, and innocencie of my hands haue I done this.
GenevaSaid not he vnto me, She is my sister? yea, and she her selfe said, He is my brother: with an vpright minde, and innocent handes haue I done this.
הֲ/לֹ֨א ה֤וּא אָֽמַר לִ/י֙ אֲחֹ֣תִ/י הִ֔וא וְ/הִֽיא גַם הִ֥וא אָֽמְרָ֖ה אָחִ֣/י ה֑וּא בְּ/תָם לְבָבִ֛/י וּ/בְ/נִקְיֹ֥ן כַּפַּ֖/י עָשִׂ֥יתִי זֹֽאת
And God saide vnto him in a dreame, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integritie of thy heart: for I also withheld thee from sinning against mee, therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.
GenevaAnd God saide vnto him by a dreame, I knowe that thou diddest this euen with an vpright minde, and I kept thee also that thou shouldest not sinne against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touche her.
וַ/יֹּאמֶר֩ אֵלָ֨י/ו הָֽ/אֱלֹהִ֜ים בַּ/חֲלֹ֗ם גַּ֣ם אָנֹכִ֤י יָדַ֨עְתִּי֙ כִּ֤י בְ/תָם לְבָבְ/ךָ֙ עָשִׂ֣יתָ זֹּ֔את וָ/אֶחְשֹׂ֧ךְ גַּם אָנֹכִ֛י אֽוֹתְ/ךָ֖ מֵ/חֲטוֹ לִ֑/י עַל כֵּ֥ן לֹא נְתַתִּ֖י/ךָ לִ/נְגֹּ֥עַ אֵלֶֽי/הָ
Now therefore restore the man his wife: for he is a Prophet, and he shal pray for thee, and thou shalt liue: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.
GenevaNow then deliuer the man his wife againe: for he is a Prophet, and he shall pray for thee that thou mayest liue: but if thou deliuer her not againe, be sure that thou shalt die the death, thou, and all that thou hast.
וְ/עַתָּ֗ה הָשֵׁ֤ב אֵֽשֶׁת הָ/אִישׁ֙ כִּֽי נָבִ֣יא ה֔וּא וְ/יִתְפַּלֵּ֥ל בַּֽעַדְ/ךָ֖ וֶֽ/חְיֵ֑ה וְ/אִם אֵֽינְ/ךָ֣ מֵשִׁ֗יב דַּ֚ע כִּי מ֣וֹת תָּמ֔וּת אַתָּ֖ה וְ/כָל אֲשֶׁר לָֽ/ךְ
Therefore Abimelech rose earely in the morning, and called all his seruants, and told all these things in their eares: and the men were sore afraid.
GenevaThen Abimelech rising vp early in ye morning, called all his seruants, and tolde all these things vnto them, and the men were sore afraid.
וַ/יַּשְׁכֵּ֨ם אֲבִימֶ֜לֶךְ בַּ/בֹּ֗קֶר וַ/יִּקְרָא֙ לְ/כָל עֲבָדָ֔י/ו וַ/יְדַבֵּ֛ר אֶת כָּל הַ/דְּבָרִ֥ים הָ/אֵ֖לֶּה בְּ/אָזְנֵי/הֶ֑ם וַ/יִּֽירְא֥וּ הָ/אֲנָשִׁ֖ים מְאֹֽד
Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said vnto him, What hast thou done vnto vs? and what haue I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me, and on my kingdome a great sinne? thou hast done deeds vnto mee that ought not to be done.

וַ/יִּקְרָ֨א אֲבִימֶ֜לֶךְ לְ/אַבְרָהָ֗ם וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר ל֜/וֹ מֶֽה עָשִׂ֤יתָ לָּ֨/נוּ֙ וּ/מֶֽה חָטָ֣אתִי לָ֔/ךְ כִּֽי הֵבֵ֧אתָ עָלַ֛/י וְ/עַל מַמְלַכְתִּ֖/י חֲטָאָ֣ה גְדֹלָ֑ה מַעֲשִׂים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹא יֵֽעָשׂ֔וּ עָשִׂ֖יתָ עִמָּדִֽ/י
And Abimelech said vnto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing?
GenevaSo Abimelech said vnto Abraham, What sawest thou that thou hast done this thing?
וַ/יֹּ֥אמֶר אֲבִימֶ֖לֶךְ אֶל אַבְרָהָ֑ם מָ֣ה רָאִ֔יתָ כִּ֥י עָשִׂ֖יתָ אֶת הַ/דָּבָ֥ר הַ/זֶּֽה
And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the feare of God is not in this place: and they will slay mee for my wiues sake.
GenevaThen Abraham answered, Because I thought thus, Surely the feare of God is not in this place, and they will slay me for my wiues sake.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר֙ אַבְרָהָ֔ם כִּ֣י אָמַ֗רְתִּי רַ֚ק אֵין יִרְאַ֣ת אֱלֹהִ֔ים בַּ/מָּק֖וֹם הַ/זֶּ֑ה וַ/הֲרָג֖וּ/נִי עַל דְּבַ֥ר אִשְׁתִּֽ/י
And yet indeed shee is my sister: she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and shee became my wife.
GenevaYet in very deede she is my sister: for she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother, and she is my wife.
וְ/גַם אָמְנָ֗ה אֲחֹתִ֤/י בַת אָבִ/י֙ הִ֔וא אַ֖ךְ לֹ֣א בַת אִמִּ֑/י וַ/תְּהִי לִ֖/י לְ/אִשָּֽׁה
And it came to passe when God caused me to wander from my fathers house, that I said vnto her, This is thy kindnesse which thou shalt shew vnto me; at euery place whither wee shall come, say of me, He is my brother.
GenevaNowe when God caused me to wander out of my fathers house, I said then to her, This is thy kindnes that thou shalt shewe vnto me in all places where we come, Say thou of me, He is my brother.
וַ/יְהִ֞י כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֧ר הִתְע֣וּ אֹתִ֗/י אֱלֹהִים֮ מִ/בֵּ֣ית אָבִ/י֒ וָ/אֹמַ֣ר לָ֔/הּ זֶ֣ה חַסְדֵּ֔/ךְ אֲשֶׁ֥ר תַּעֲשִׂ֖י עִמָּדִ֑/י אֶ֤ל כָּל הַ/מָּקוֹם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נָב֣וֹא שָׁ֔מָּ/ה אִמְרִי לִ֖/י אָחִ֥/י הֽוּא
And Abimelech tooke sheepe and oxen, and men-seruants, and women seruants, and gaue them vnto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife.
GenevaThen tooke Abimelech sheepe and beeues, and men seruants, and women seruants, and gaue them vnto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife.
וַ/יִּקַּ֨ח אֲבִימֶ֜לֶךְ צֹ֣אן וּ/בָקָ֗ר וַ/עֲבָדִים֙ וּ/שְׁפָחֹ֔ת וַ/יִּתֵּ֖ן לְ/אַבְרָהָ֑ם וַ/יָּ֣שֶׁב ל֔/וֹ אֵ֖ת שָׂרָ֥ה אִשְׁתּֽ/וֹ
And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before thee; dwel where it pleaseth thee.
GenevaAnd Abimelech saide, Beholde, my land is before thee: dwell where it pleaseth thee.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אֲבִימֶ֔לֶךְ הִנֵּ֥ה אַרְצִ֖/י לְ/פָנֶ֑י/ךָ בַּ/טּ֥וֹב בְּ/עֵינֶ֖י/ךָ שֵֽׁב
And vnto Sarah hee said, Behold, I haue giuen thy brother a thousand pieces of siluer: behold, he is to thee a couering of the eyes, vnto all that are with thee, and with all other: thus shee was reproued.
GenevaLikewise to Sarah he said, Beholde, I haue giuen thy brother a thousand pieces of siluer: behold, he is the vaile of thine eyes to all that are with thee, and to all others: and she was thus reproued.
וּ/לְ/שָׂרָ֣ה אָמַ֗ר הִנֵּ֨ה נָתַ֜תִּי אֶ֤לֶף כֶּ֨סֶף֙ לְ/אָחִ֔י/ךְ הִנֵּ֤ה הוּא לָ/ךְ֙ כְּס֣וּת עֵינַ֔יִם לְ/כֹ֖ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר אִתָּ֑/ךְ וְ/אֵ֥ת כֹּ֖ל וְ/נֹכָֽחַת
¶ So Abraham prayed vnto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maid-seruants, and they bare children.
GenevaThen Abraham prayed vnto God, and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his women seruants: and they bare children.
וַ/יִּתְפַּלֵּ֥ל אַבְרָהָ֖ם אֶל הָ/אֱלֹהִ֑ים וַ/יִּרְפָּ֨א אֱלֹהִ֜ים אֶת אֲבִימֶ֧לֶךְ וְ/אֶת אִשְׁתּ֛/וֹ וְ/אַמְהֹתָ֖י/ו וַ/יֵּלֵֽדוּ
For the LORD had fast closed vp all the wombes of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abrahams wife.
GenevaFor the Lord had shut vp euery wombe of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abrahams wife.
כִּֽי עָצֹ֤ר עָצַר֙ יְהוָ֔ה בְּעַ֥ד כָּל רֶ֖חֶם לְ/בֵ֣ית אֲבִימֶ֑לֶךְ עַל דְּבַ֥ר שָׂרָ֖ה אֵ֥שֶׁת אַבְרָהָֽם
