Chapter 22
Genesis 22
And it came to passe after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said vnto him, Abraham. And hee said, Beholde, heere I am.
GenevaAnd after these things God did proue Abraham, and said vnto him, Abraham. Who answered, Here am I.
וַ/יְהִ֗י אַחַר֙ הַ/דְּבָרִ֣ים הָ/אֵ֔לֶּה וְ/הָ֣/אֱלֹהִ֔ים נִסָּ֖ה אֶת אַבְרָהָ֑ם וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֔י/ו אַבְרָהָ֖ם וַ/יֹּ֥אמֶר הִנֵּֽנִ/י
And he said, Take now thy sonne, thine onely sonne Isaac, whom thou louest, and get thee into the land of Moriah: and offer him there for a burnt offering vpon one of the Mountaines which I will tell thee of.
GenevaAnd he said, Take nowe thine onely sonne Izhak whom thou louest, and get thee vnto the land of Moriah, and offer him there for a burnt offering vpon one of the mountaines, which I will shewe thee.
וַ/יֹּ֡אמֶר קַח נָ֠א אֶת בִּנְ/ךָ֨ אֶת יְחִֽידְ/ךָ֤ אֲשֶׁר אָהַ֨בְתָּ֙ אֶת יִצְחָ֔ק וְ/לֶךְ לְ/ךָ֔ אֶל אֶ֖רֶץ הַ/מֹּרִיָּ֑ה וְ/הַעֲלֵ֤/הוּ שָׁם֙ לְ/עֹלָ֔ה עַ֚ל אַחַ֣ד הֶֽ/הָרִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֖ר אֹמַ֥ר אֵלֶֽי/ךָ
¶ And Abraham rose vp earely in the morning, and sadled his asse, and tooke two of his yong men with him, and Isaac his sonne, and claue the wood for the burnt offering, and rose vp, and went vnto the place of which God had told him.
GenevaThen Abraham rose vp early in the morning, and sadled his asse, and tooke two of his seruants with him, and Izhak his sonne, and cloue wood for the burnt offering, and rose vp and went to the place, which God had tolde him.
וַ/יַּשְׁכֵּ֨ם אַבְרָהָ֜ם בַּ/בֹּ֗קֶר וַֽ/יַּחֲבֹשׁ֙ אֶת חֲמֹר֔/וֹ וַ/יִּקַּ֞ח אֶת שְׁנֵ֤י נְעָרָי/ו֙ אִתּ֔/וֹ וְ/אֵ֖ת יִצְחָ֣ק בְּנ֑/וֹ וַ/יְבַקַּע֙ עֲצֵ֣י עֹלָ֔ה וַ/יָּ֣קָם וַ/יֵּ֔לֶךְ אֶל הַ/מָּק֖וֹם אֲשֶׁר אָֽמַר ל֥/וֹ הָ/אֱלֹהִֽים
Then on the third day Abraham lift vp his eyes, and saw the place afarre off.

בַּ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/שְּׁלִישִׁ֗י וַ/יִּשָּׂ֨א אַבְרָהָ֧ם אֶת עֵינָ֛י/ו וַ/יַּ֥רְא אֶת הַ/מָּק֖וֹם מֵ/רָחֹֽק
And Abraham said vnto his yong men, Abide you here with the asse, and I and the lad will goe yonder and worship, and come againe to you.
GenevaAnd said vnto his seruants, Abide you here with the asse: for I and the childe will go yonder and worship, and come againe vnto you.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר אַבְרָהָ֜ם אֶל נְעָרָ֗י/ו שְׁבוּ לָ/כֶ֥ם פֹּה֙ עִֽם הַ/חֲמ֔וֹר וַ/אֲנִ֣י וְ/הַ/נַּ֔עַר נֵלְכָ֖ה עַד כֹּ֑ה וְ/נִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֶ֖ה וְ/נָשׁ֥וּבָה אֲלֵי/כֶֽם
And Abraham tooke the wood of the burnt offering, and layd it vpon Isaac his sonne: and he tooke the fire in his hand, and a knife: and they went both of them together.
GenevaThen Abraham tooke the wood of the burnt offering, and layed it vpon Izhak his sonne, and he tooke the fire in his hand, and the knife: and they went both together.
וַ/יִּקַּ֨ח אַבְרָהָ֜ם אֶת עֲצֵ֣י הָ/עֹלָ֗ה וַ/יָּ֨שֶׂם֙ עַל יִצְחָ֣ק בְּנ֔/וֹ וַ/יִּקַּ֣ח בְּ/יָד֔/וֹ אֶת הָ/אֵ֖שׁ וְ/אֶת הַֽ/מַּאֲכֶ֑לֶת וַ/יֵּלְכ֥וּ שְׁנֵי/הֶ֖ם יַחְדָּֽו
And Isaac spake vnto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my sonne. And hee said, Behold the fire and wood: but where is the lambe for a burnt offring?
GenevaThen spake Izhak vnto Abraham his father, and said, My father. And he answered, Here am I, my sonne. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood, but where is the lambe for ye burnt offring?
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר יִצְחָ֜ק אֶל אַבְרָהָ֤ם אָבִי/ו֙ וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אָבִ֔/י וַ/יֹּ֖אמֶר הִנֶּ֣נִּֽ/י בְנִ֑/י וַ/יֹּ֗אמֶר הִנֵּ֤ה הָ/אֵשׁ֙ וְ/הָ֣/עֵצִ֔ים וְ/אַיֵּ֥ה הַ/שֶּׂ֖ה לְ/עֹלָֽה
And Abraham said, My sonne, God will prouide himselfe a lambe for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
GenevaThen Abraham answered, My sonne, God will prouide him a lambe for a burnt offering: so they went both together.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר֙ אַבְרָהָ֔ם אֱלֹהִ֞ים יִרְאֶה לּ֥/וֹ הַ/שֶּׂ֛ה לְ/עֹלָ֖ה בְּנִ֑/י וַ/יֵּלְכ֥וּ שְׁנֵי/הֶ֖ם יַחְדָּֽו
And they came to the place which God had tolde him of, and Abraham built an Altar there, and layd the wood in order, and bound Isaac his sonne, and layde him on the Altar vpon the wood.
GenevaAnd when they came to the place which God had shewed him, Abraham builded an altar there, and couched ye wood, and bound Izhak his sonne and laid him on the altar vpon the wood.
וַ/יָּבֹ֗אוּ אֶֽל הַ/מָּקוֹם֮ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אָֽמַר ל֣/וֹ הָ/אֱלֹהִים֒ וַ/יִּ֨בֶן שָׁ֤ם אַבְרָהָם֙ אֶת הַ/מִּזְבֵּ֔חַ וַֽ/יַּעֲרֹ֖ךְ אֶת הָ/עֵצִ֑ים וַֽ/יַּעֲקֹד֙ אֶת יִצְחָ֣ק בְּנ֔/וֹ וַ/יָּ֤שֶׂם אֹת/וֹ֙ עַל הַ/מִּזְבֵּ֔חַ מִ/מַּ֖עַל לָ/עֵצִֽים
And Abraham stretched foorth his hand, and tooke the knife to slay his sonne.
GenevaAnd Abraham stretching forth his hand, tooke the knife to kill his sonne.
וַ/יִּשְׁלַ֤ח אַבְרָהָם֙ אֶת יָד֔/וֹ וַ/יִּקַּ֖ח אֶת הַֽ/מַּאֲכֶ֑לֶת לִ/שְׁחֹ֖ט אֶת בְּנֽ/וֹ
And the Angel of the LORD called vnto him out of heauen, and said, Abraham, Abraham. And he said, Here am I.
GenevaBut the Angel of the Lord called vnto him from heauen, saying, Abraham, Abraham. And he answered, Here am I.
וַ/יִּקְרָ֨א אֵלָ֜י/ו מַלְאַ֤ךְ יְהוָה֙ מִן הַ/שָּׁמַ֔יִם וַ/יֹּ֖אמֶר אַבְרָהָ֣ם אַבְרָהָ֑ם וַ/יֹּ֖אמֶר הִנֵּֽנִ/י
And he said, Lay not thine hand vpon the lad, neither do thou any thing vnto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withhelde thy sonne, thine onely sonne from mee.
GenevaThen he said, Lay not thine hand vpon the childe, neither doe any thing vnto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing for my sake thou hast not spared thine onely sonne.
וַ/יֹּ֗אמֶר אַל תִּשְׁלַ֤ח יָֽדְ/ךָ֙ אֶל הַ/נַּ֔עַר וְ/אַל תַּ֥עַשׂ ל֖/וֹ מְא֑וּמָּה כִּ֣י עַתָּ֣ה יָדַ֗עְתִּי כִּֽי יְרֵ֤א אֱלֹהִים֙ אַ֔תָּה וְ/לֹ֥א חָשַׂ֛כְתָּ אֶת בִּנְ/ךָ֥ אֶת יְחִידְ/ךָ֖ מִמֶּֽ/נִּי
And Abraham lifted vp his eyes, and looked, and beholde, behinde him a Ramme caught in a thicket by his hornes: And Abraham went and tooke the Ramme, and offered him vp for a burnt offering, in the stead of his sonne.
GenevaAnd Abraham lifting vp his eyes, looked: and behold, there was a ramme behind him caught by the hornes in a bush. then Abraham went and tooke the ramme, and offered him vp for a burnt offering in the steade of his sonne.
וַ/יִּשָּׂ֨א אַבְרָהָ֜ם אֶת עֵינָ֗י/ו וַ/יַּרְא֙ וְ/הִנֵּה אַ֔יִל אַחַ֕ר נֶאֱחַ֥ז בַּ/סְּבַ֖ךְ בְּ/קַרְנָ֑י/ו וַ/יֵּ֤לֶךְ אַבְרָהָם֙ וַ/יִּקַּ֣ח אֶת הָ/אַ֔יִל וַ/יַּעֲלֵ֥/הוּ לְ/עֹלָ֖ה תַּ֥חַת בְּנֽ/וֹ
And Abraham called the name of that place Iehouah-ijreh, as it is said to this day, In the Mount of the LORD it shalbe seene.
GenevaAnd Abraham called the name of that place, Iehouah-ijreh. as it is said this day, In the mount will the Lord be seene.
וַ/יִּקְרָ֧א אַבְרָהָ֛ם שֵֽׁם הַ/מָּק֥וֹם הַ/ה֖וּא יְהוָ֣ה יִרְאֶ֑ה אֲשֶׁר֙ יֵאָמֵ֣ר הַ/יּ֔וֹם בְּ/הַ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה יֵרָאֶֽה
¶ And the Angel of the LORD called vnto Abraham out of heauen the second time,
GenevaAnd the Angel of the Lord cryed vnto Abraham from heauen the second time,
וַ/יִּקְרָ֛א מַלְאַ֥ךְ יְהוָ֖ה אֶל אַבְרָהָ֑ם שֵׁנִ֖ית מִן הַ/שָּׁמָֽיִם
And said, By my selfe haue I sworne, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy sonne, thine onely sonne,
GenevaAnd saide, By my selfe haue I sworne (saith ye Lord) because thou hast done this thing, and hast not spared thine onely sonne,
וַ/יֹּ֕אמֶר בִּ֥/י נִשְׁבַּ֖עְתִּי נְאֻם יְהוָ֑ה כִּ֗י יַ֚עַן אֲשֶׁ֤ר עָשִׂ֨יתָ֙ אֶת הַ/דָּבָ֣ר הַ/זֶּ֔ה וְ/לֹ֥א חָשַׂ֖כְתָּ אֶת בִּנְ/ךָ֥ אֶת יְחִידֶֽ/ךָ
That in blessing I will blesse thee, and in multiplying, I will multiply thy seed as the starres of the heauen, and as the sand which is vpon the sea shore, and thy seed shall possesse the gate of his enemies.
GenevaTherefore will I surely blesse thee, and will greatly multiplie thy seede, as the starres of the heauen, and as the sand which is vpon the sea shore, and thy seede shall possesse the gate of his enemies.
כִּֽי בָרֵ֣ךְ אֲבָרֶכְ/ךָ֗ וְ/הַרְבָּ֨ה אַרְבֶּ֤ה אֶֽת זַרְעֲ/ךָ֙ כְּ/כוֹכְבֵ֣י הַ/שָּׁמַ֔יִם וְ/כַ/ח֕וֹל אֲשֶׁ֖ר עַל שְׂפַ֣ת הַ/יָּ֑ם וְ/יִרַ֣שׁ זַרְעֲ/ךָ֔ אֵ֖ת שַׁ֥עַר אֹיְבָֽי/ו
And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because thou hast obeyed my voice.
GenevaAnd in thy seede shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because thou hast obeyed my voyce.
וְ/הִתְבָּרֲכ֣וּ בְ/זַרְעֲ/ךָ֔ כֹּ֖ל גּוֹיֵ֣י הָ/אָ֑רֶץ עֵ֕קֶב אֲשֶׁ֥ר שָׁמַ֖עְתָּ בְּ/קֹלִֽ/י
So Abraham returned vnto his yong men, and they rose vp, and went together to Beer-sheba, and Abraham dwelt at Beer-sheba.
GenevaThen turned Abraham againe vnto his seruants, and they rose vp and went together to Beer-sheba: and Abraham dwelt at Beer-sheba.
וַ/יָּ֤שָׁב אַבְרָהָם֙ אֶל נְעָרָ֔י/ו וַ/יָּקֻ֛מוּ וַ/יֵּלְכ֥וּ יַחְדָּ֖ו אֶל בְּאֵ֣ר שָׁ֑בַע וַ/יֵּ֥שֶׁב אַבְרָהָ֖ם בִּ/בְאֵ֥ר שָֽׁבַע
¶ And it came to passe after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying, Behold Milcah, shee hath also borne children vnto thy brother Nahor,
GenevaAnd after these things one tolde Abraham, saying, Beholde Milcah, she hath also borne children vnto thy brother Nahor:
וַ/יְהִ֗י אַחֲרֵי֙ הַ/דְּבָרִ֣ים הָ/אֵ֔לֶּה וַ/יֻּגַּ֥ד לְ/אַבְרָהָ֖ם לֵ/אמֹ֑ר הִ֠נֵּה יָלְדָ֨ה מִלְכָּ֥ה גַם הִ֛וא בָּנִ֖ים לְ/נָח֥וֹר אָחִֽי/ךָ
Huz his first borne, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram,
GenevaTo wit, Vz his eldest sonne, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram,
אֶת ע֥וּץ בְּכֹר֖/וֹ וְ/אֶת בּ֣וּז אָחִ֑י/ו וְ/אֶת קְמוּאֵ֖ל אֲבִ֥י אֲרָֽם
And Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Iidlaph, and Bethuel.
GenevaAnd Chesed and Hazo, and Pildash, and Iidlaph, and Bethuel.
וְ/אֶת כֶּ֣שֶׂד וְ/אֶת חֲז֔וֹ וְ/אֶת פִּלְדָּ֖שׁ וְ/אֶת יִדְלָ֑ף וְ/אֵ֖ת בְּתוּאֵֽל
And Bethuel begate Rebekah: these eight Milcah did beare to Nahor, Abrahams brother.
GenevaAnd Bethuel begate Rebekah: these eight did Milcah beare to Nahor Abrahams brother.
וּ/בְתוּאֵ֖ל יָלַ֣ד אֶת רִבְקָ֑ה שְׁמֹנָ֥ה אֵ֨לֶּה֙ יָלְדָ֣ה מִלְכָּ֔ה לְ/נָח֖וֹר אֲחִ֥י אַבְרָהָֽם
And his concubine whose name was Reumah, she bare also Tebah, and Gaham, and Thahash, and Maachah.
GenevaAnd his concubine called Reumah, she bare also Tebah, and Gahan, and Thahash and Maachah.
וּ/פִֽילַגְשׁ֖/וֹ וּ/שְׁמָ֣/הּ רְאוּמָ֑ה וַ/תֵּ֤לֶד גַּם הִוא֙ אֶת טֶ֣בַח וְ/אֶת גַּ֔חַם וְ/אֶת תַּ֖חַשׁ וְ/אֶֽת מַעֲכָֽה
