Genesis 3
Now the serpent was more subtill then any beast of the field, which the LORD God had made, and he said vnto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of euery tree of the garden?
GenevaNow the serpent was more subtill then any beast of the fielde, which the Lord God had made: and he said to the woman, Yea, hath God in deede said, Ye shall not eate of euery tree of the garden?
וְ/הַ/נָּחָשׁ֙ הָיָ֣ה עָר֔וּם מִ/כֹּל֙ חַיַּ֣ת הַ/שָּׂדֶ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשָׂ֖ה יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהִ֑ים וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר֙ אֶל הָ֣/אִשָּׁ֔ה אַ֚ף כִּֽי אָמַ֣ר אֱלֹהִ֔ים לֹ֣א תֹֽאכְל֔וּ מִ/כֹּ֖ל עֵ֥ץ הַ/גָּֽן
And the woman said vnto the serpent, Wee may eate of the fruite of the trees of the garden:
GenevaAnd the woman said vnto the serpent, We eate of the fruite of the trees of the garden,
וַ/תֹּ֥אמֶר הָֽ/אִשָּׁ֖ה אֶל הַ/נָּחָ֑שׁ מִ/פְּרִ֥י עֵֽץ הַ/גָּ֖ן נֹאכֵֽל
But of the fruit of the tree, which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shal not eate of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
GenevaBut of the fruite of the tree which is in the middes of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eate of it, neither shall ye touche it, lest ye die.
וּ/מִ/פְּרִ֣י הָ/עֵץ֮ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּ/תוֹךְ הַ/גָּן֒ אָמַ֣ר אֱלֹהִ֗ים לֹ֤א תֹֽאכְלוּ֙ מִמֶּ֔/נּוּ וְ/לֹ֥א תִגְּע֖וּ בּ֑/וֹ פֶּן תְּמֻתֽוּ/ן
And the Serpent said vnto the woman, Ye shall not surely die.
GenevaThen the serpent said to the woman, Ye shall not die at all,
וַ/יֹּ֥אמֶר הַ/נָּחָ֖שׁ אֶל הָֽ/אִשָּׁ֑ה לֹֽא מ֖וֹת תְּמֻתֽוּ/ן
For God doeth know, that in the day ye eate thereof, then your eyes shalbee opened: and yee shall bee as Gods, knowing good and euill.
GenevaBut God doeth knowe, that when ye shall eate thereof, your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and euill.
כִּ֚י יֹדֵ֣עַ אֱלֹהִ֔ים כִּ֗י בְּ/יוֹם֙ אֲכָלְ/כֶ֣ם מִמֶּ֔/נּוּ וְ/נִפְקְח֖וּ עֵֽינֵי/כֶ֑ם וִ/הְיִיתֶם֙ כֵּֽ/אלֹהִ֔ים יֹדְעֵ֖י ט֥וֹב וָ/רָֽע
And when the woman saw, that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she tooke of the fruit thereof, and did eate, and gaue also vnto her husband with her, and hee did eate.
GenevaSo the woman (seeing that the tree was good for meate, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to get knowledge) tooke of the fruite thereof, and did eate, and gaue also to her husband with her, and he did eate.
וַ/תֵּ֣רֶא הָֽ/אִשָּׁ֡ה כִּ֣י טוֹב֩ הָ/עֵ֨ץ לְ/מַאֲכָ֜ל וְ/כִ֧י תַֽאֲוָה ה֣וּא לָ/עֵינַ֗יִם וְ/נֶחְמָ֤ד הָ/עֵץ֙ לְ/הַשְׂכִּ֔יל וַ/תִּקַּ֥ח מִ/פִּרְי֖/וֹ וַ/תֹּאכַ֑ל וַ/תִּתֵּ֧ן גַּם לְ/אִישָׁ֛/הּ עִמָּ֖/הּ וַ/יֹּאכַֽל
And the eyes of them both were opened, & they knew that they were naked, and they sewed figge leaues together, and made themselues aprons.
GenevaThen the eyes of them both were opened, and they knewe that they were naked, and they sewed figge tree leaues together, and made them selues breeches.
וַ/תִּפָּקַ֨חְנָה֙ עֵינֵ֣י שְׁנֵי/הֶ֔ם וַ/יֵּ֣דְע֔וּ כִּ֥י עֵֽירֻמִּ֖ם הֵ֑ם וַֽ/יִּתְפְּרוּ֙ עֲלֵ֣ה תְאֵנָ֔ה וַ/יַּעֲשׂ֥וּ לָ/הֶ֖ם חֲגֹרֹֽת
And they heard the voyce of the LORD God, walking in the garden in the coole of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselues from the presence of the LORD God, amongst the trees of the garden.
GenevaAfterward they heard the voyce of the Lord God walking in the garden in the coole of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselues from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
וַֽ/יִּשְׁמְע֞וּ אֶת ק֨וֹל יְהוָ֧ה אֱלֹהִ֛ים מִתְהַלֵּ֥ךְ בַּ/גָּ֖ן לְ/ר֣וּחַ הַ/יּ֑וֹם וַ/יִּתְחַבֵּ֨א הָֽ/אָדָ֜ם וְ/אִשְׁתּ֗/וֹ מִ/פְּנֵי֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהִ֔ים בְּ/ת֖וֹךְ עֵ֥ץ הַ/גָּֽן
And the LORD God called vnto Adam, and said vnto him, Where art thou?
GenevaBut the Lord God called to the man, and said vnto him, Where art thou?
וַ/יִּקְרָ֛א יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶל הָֽ/אָדָ֑ם וַ/יֹּ֥אמֶר ל֖/וֹ אַיֶּֽ/כָּה
And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden: and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid my selfe.
GenevaWho saide, I heard thy voyce in the garden, and was afraide: because I was naked, therefore I hid my selfe.
וַ/יֹּ֕אמֶר אֶת קֹלְ/ךָ֥ שָׁמַ֖עְתִּי בַּ/גָּ֑ן וָ/אִירָ֛א כִּֽי עֵירֹ֥ם אָנֹ֖כִי וָ/אֵחָבֵֽא
And he said, Who told thee, that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee, that thou shouldest not eate?
GenevaAnd he saide, Who tolde thee, that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eate?
וַ/יֹּ֕אמֶר מִ֚י הִגִּ֣יד לְ/ךָ֔ כִּ֥י עֵירֹ֖ם אָ֑תָּה הֲ/מִן הָ/עֵ֗ץ אֲשֶׁ֧ר צִוִּיתִ֛י/ךָ לְ/בִלְתִּ֥י אֲכָל מִמֶּ֖/נּוּ אָכָֽלְתָּ
And the man said, The woman whom thou gauest to be with mee, shee gaue me of the tree, and I did eate.
GenevaThen the man saide, The woman which thou gauest to be with me, she gaue me of the tree, and I did eate.
וַ/יֹּ֖אמֶר הָֽ/אָדָ֑ם הָֽ/אִשָּׁה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נָתַ֣תָּה עִמָּדִ֔/י הִ֛וא נָֽתְנָה לִּ֥/י מִן הָ/עֵ֖ץ וָ/אֹכֵֽל
And the LORD God said vnto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The Serpent beguiled me, and I did eate.
GenevaAnd the Lord God saide to the woman, Why hast thou done this? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eate.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֧ה אֱלֹהִ֛ים לָ/אִשָּׁ֖ה מַה זֹּ֣את עָשִׂ֑ית וַ/תֹּ֨אמֶר֙ הָֽ/אִשָּׁ֔ה הַ/נָּחָ֥שׁ הִשִּׁיאַ֖/נִי וָ/אֹכֵֽל
And the LORD God said vnto the Serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed aboue all cattel, and aboue euery beast of the field: vpon thy belly shalt thou goe, and dust shalt thou eate, all the dayes of thy life.

וַ/יֹּאמֶר֩ יְהֹוָ֨ה אֱלֹהִ֥ים אֶֽל הַ/נָּחָשׁ֮ כִּ֣י עָשִׂ֣יתָ זֹּאת֒ אָר֤וּר אַתָּה֙ מִ/כָּל הַ/בְּהֵמָ֔ה וּ/מִ/כֹּ֖ל חַיַּ֣ת הַ/שָּׂדֶ֑ה עַל גְּחֹנְ/ךָ֣ תֵלֵ֔ךְ וְ/עָפָ֥ר תֹּאכַ֖ל כָּל יְמֵ֥י חַיֶּֽי/ךָ
And I will put enmitie betweene thee and the woman, and betweene thy seed and her seed: it shal bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heele.
GenevaI will also put enimitie betweene thee and the woman, and betweene thy seede and her seede. He shall breake thine head, and thou shalt bruise his heele.
וְ/אֵיבָ֣ה אָשִׁ֗ית בֵּֽינְ/ךָ֙ וּ/בֵ֣ין הָֽ/אִשָּׁ֔ה וּ/בֵ֥ין זַרְעֲ/ךָ֖ וּ/בֵ֣ין זַרְעָ֑/הּ ה֚וּא יְשׁוּפְ/ךָ֣ רֹ֔אשׁ וְ/אַתָּ֖ה תְּשׁוּפֶ֥/נּוּ עָקֵֽב
Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorowe and thy conception. In sorow thou shalt bring forth children: and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and hee shall rule ouer thee.
GenevaVnto the woman he said, I will greatly increase thy sorowes, and thy conceptions. In sorowe shalt thou bring foorth children, and thy desire shalbe subiect to thine husband, and he shall rule ouer thee.
אֶֽל הָ/אִשָּׁ֣ה אָמַ֗ר הַרְבָּ֤ה אַרְבֶּה֙ עִצְּבוֹנֵ֣/ךְ וְ/הֵֽרֹנֵ֔/ךְ בְּ/עֶ֖צֶב תֵּֽלְדִ֣י בָנִ֑ים וְ/אֶל אִישֵׁ/ךְ֙ תְּשׁ֣וּקָתֵ֔/ךְ וְ/ה֖וּא יִמְשָׁל בָּֽ/ךְ
And vnto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened vnto the voyce of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commaunded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eate of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake: in sorow shalt thou eate of it all the dayes of thy life.
GenevaAlso to Adam he said, Because thou hast obeyed the voyce of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, (whereof I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eate of it) cursed is the earth for thy sake: in sorowe shalt thou eate of it all the dayes of thy life.
וּ/לְ/אָדָ֣ם אָמַ֗ר כִּֽי שָׁמַעְתָּ֮ לְ/ק֣וֹל אִשְׁתֶּ/ךָ֒ וַ/תֹּ֨אכַל֙ מִן הָ/עֵ֔ץ אֲשֶׁ֤ר צִוִּיתִ֨י/ךָ֙ לֵ/אמֹ֔ר לֹ֥א תֹאכַ֖ל מִמֶּ֑/נּוּ אֲרוּרָ֤ה הָֽ/אֲדָמָה֙ בַּֽ/עֲבוּרֶ֔/ךָ בְּ/עִצָּבוֹן֙ תֹּֽאכֲלֶ֔/נָּה כֹּ֖ל יְמֵ֥י חַיֶּֽי/ךָ
Thornes also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee: and thou shalt eate the herbe of the field.

וְ/ק֥וֹץ וְ/דַרְדַּ֖ר תַּצְמִ֣יחַֽ לָ֑/ךְ וְ/אָכַלְתָּ֖ אֶת עֵ֥שֶׂב הַ/שָּׂדֶֽה
In the sweate of thy face shalt thou eate bread, till thou returne vnto the ground: for out of it wast thou taken, for dust thou art, and vnto dust shalt thou returne.

בְּ/זֵעַ֤ת אַפֶּ֨י/ךָ֙ תֹּ֣אכַל לֶ֔חֶם עַ֤ד שֽׁוּבְ/ךָ֙ אֶל הָ֣/אֲדָמָ֔ה כִּ֥י מִמֶּ֖/נָּה לֻקָּ֑חְתָּ כִּֽי עָפָ֣ר אַ֔תָּה וְ/אֶל עָפָ֖ר תָּשֽׁוּב
And Adam called his wiues name Eue, because she was the mother of all liuing.
Geneva(And the man called his wiues name Heuah, because she was the mother of all liuing)
וַ/יִּקְרָ֧א הָֽ/אָדָ֛ם שֵׁ֥ם אִשְׁתּ֖/וֹ חַוָּ֑ה כִּ֛י הִ֥וא הָֽיְתָ֖ה אֵ֥ם כָּל חָֽי
Unto Adam also, and to his wife, did the LORD God make coates of skinnes, and cloathed them.
GenevaVnto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coates of skinnes, and clothed them.
וַ/יַּעַשׂ֩ יְהוָ֨ה אֱלֹהִ֜ים לְ/אָדָ֧ם וּ/לְ/אִשְׁתּ֛/וֹ כָּתְנ֥וֹת ע֖וֹר וַ/יַּלְבִּשֵֽׁ/ם
¶ And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of vs, to know good & euill. And now lest hee put foorth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eate and liue for euer:
GenevaAnd the Lord God said, Beholde, the man is become as one of vs, to knowe good and euill. And nowe lest he put foorth his hand, and take also of ye tree of life and eate and liue for euer,
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהִ֗ים הֵ֤ן הָֽ/אָדָם֙ הָיָה֙ כְּ/אַחַ֣ד מִמֶּ֔/נּוּ לָ/דַ֖עַת ט֣וֹב וָ/רָ֑ע וְ/עַתָּ֣ה פֶּן יִשְׁלַ֣ח יָד֗/וֹ וְ/לָקַח֙ גַּ֚ם מֵ/עֵ֣ץ הַֽ/חַיִּ֔ים וְ/אָכַ֖ל וָ/חַ֥י לְ/עֹלָֽם
Therefore the LORD God sent him foorth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground, from whence he was taken.
GenevaTherefore the Lord God sent him foorth from the garden of Eden, to till ye earth, whence he was taken.
וַֽ/יְשַׁלְּחֵ֛/הוּ יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהִ֖ים מִ/גַּן עֵ֑דֶן לַֽ/עֲבֹד֙ אֶת הָ֣/אֲדָמָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֻקַּ֖ח מִ/שָּֽׁם
So he droue out the man: and he placed at the East of the garden of Eden, Cherubims, and a flaming sword, which turned euery way, to keepe the way of the tree of life.
GenevaThus he cast out man, and at the East side of the garden of Eden he set the Cherubims, and the blade of a sworde shaken, to keepe the way of the tree of life.
וַ/יְגָ֖רֶשׁ אֶת הָֽ/אָדָ֑ם וַ/יַּשְׁכֵּן֩ מִ/קֶּ֨דֶם לְ/גַן עֵ֜דֶן אֶת הַ/כְּרֻבִ֗ים וְ/אֵ֨ת לַ֤הַט הַ/חֶ֨רֶב֙ הַ/מִּתְהַפֶּ֔כֶת לִ/שְׁמֹ֕ר אֶת דֶּ֖רֶךְ עֵ֥ץ הַֽ/חַיִּֽים
