Isaiah 19
The burden of Egypt: Behold, the LORD rideth vpon a swift cloude, and shall come into Egypt, and the idoles of Egypt shalbe moued at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it.
GenevaThe burden of Egypt. Beholde, the Lord rideth vpon a swift cloude, and shall come into Egypt, and the idoles of Egypt shall be moued at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the middes of her.
מַשָּׂ֖א מִצְרָ֑יִם הִנֵּ֨ה יְהוָ֜ה רֹכֵ֨ב עַל עָ֥ב קַל֙ וּ/בָ֣א מִצְרַ֔יִם וְ/נָע֞וּ אֱלִילֵ֤י מִצְרַ֨יִם֙ מִ/פָּנָ֔י/ו וּ/לְבַ֥ב מִצְרַ֖יִם יִמַּ֥ס בְּ/קִרְבּֽ/וֹ
And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight euery one against his brother, and euery one against his neighbour; citie against citie, and kingdome against kingdome.
GenevaAnd I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: so euery one shall fight against his brother, and euery one against his neighbour, citie against citie, and kingdome against kingdome.
וְ/סִכְסַכְתִּ֤י מִצְרַ֨יִם֙ בְּ/מִצְרַ֔יִם וְ/נִלְחֲמ֥וּ אִישׁ בְּ/אָחִ֖י/ו וְ/אִ֣ישׁ בְּ/רֵעֵ֑/הוּ עִ֣יר בְּ/עִ֔יר מַמְלָכָ֖ה בְּ/מַמְלָכָֽה
And the spirit of Egypt shall faile in the midst thereof, and I will destroy the counsell thereof: and they shall seeke to the idoles, and to the charmers, and to them that haue familiar spirits, and to the wizards.
GenevaAnd the spirite of Egypt shall faile in the middes of her, and I will destroy their counsell, and they shall seeke at the idoles, and at the sorcerers, and at them that haue spirits of diuination, and at the southsayers.
וְ/נָבְקָ֤ה רֽוּחַ מִצְרַ֨יִם֙ בְּ/קִרְבּ֔/וֹ וַ/עֲצָת֖/וֹ אֲבַלֵּ֑עַ וְ/דָרְשׁ֤וּ אֶל הָֽ/אֱלִילִים֙ וְ/אֶל הָ֣/אִטִּ֔ים וְ/אֶל הָ/אֹב֖וֹת וְ/אֶל הַ/יִּדְּעֹנִֽים
And the Egyptians will I giue ouer into the hand of a cruell Lord; and a fierce king shall rule ouer them, saith the Lorde, the LORD of hostes.
GenevaAnd I will deliuer the Egyptians into the hand of the cruell Lordes, and a mightie King shall rule ouer them, sayth the Lord God of hostes.
וְ/סִכַּרְתִּי֙ אֶת מִצְרַ֔יִם בְּ/יַ֖ד אֲדֹנִ֣ים קָשֶׁ֑ה וּ/מֶ֤לֶךְ עַז֙ יִמְשָׁל בָּ֔/ם נְאֻ֥ם הָ/אָד֖וֹן יְהוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת
And the waters shall faile from the sea, and the riuer shalbe wasted, and dried vp.
GenevaThen the waters of the sea shall faile, and the riuers shall be dryed vp, and wasted.
וְ/נִשְּׁתוּ מַ֖יִם מֵֽ/הַ/יָּ֑ם וְ/נָהָ֖ר יֶחֱרַ֥ב וְ/יָבֵֽשׁ
And they shall turne the riuers farre away, and the brookes of defence shall be emptied and dried vp: the reeds and flagges shall wither.
GenevaAnd the riuers shall goe farre away: the riuers of defence shalbe emptied and dryed vp: the reedes and flagges shall be cut downe.
וְ/הֶאֶזְנִ֣יחוּ נְהָר֔וֹת דָּלֲל֥וּ וְ/חָרְב֖וּ יְאֹרֵ֣י מָצ֑וֹר קָנֶ֥ה וָ/ס֖וּף קָמֵֽלוּ
The paper reeds by the brookes, by the mouth of the brookes, and euery thing sowen by the brooks shal wither, be driuen away, and be no more.
GenevaThe grasse in the riuer, and at the head of the riuers, and all that groweth by the riuer, shall wither, and be driuen away, and be no more.
עָר֥וֹת עַל יְא֖וֹר עַל פִּ֣י יְא֑וֹר וְ/כֹל֙ מִזְרַ֣ע יְא֔וֹר יִיבַ֥שׁ נִדַּ֖ף וְ/אֵינֶֽ/נּוּ
The fishers also shall mourne, and all they that cast angle into the brookes shall lament, and they that spread nets vpon the waters shall languish.
GenevaThe fishers also shall mourne, and all they that cast angle into the riuer, shall lament, and they that spread their nette vpon the waters, shall be weakened.
וְ/אָנוּ֙ הַ/דַּיָּגִ֔ים וְ/אָ֣בְל֔וּ כָּל מַשְׁלִיכֵ֥י בַ/יְא֖וֹר חַכָּ֑ה וּ/פֹרְשֵׂ֥י מִכְמֹ֛רֶת עַל פְּנֵי מַ֖יִם אֻמְלָֽלוּ
Moreouer they that worke in fine flaxe, and they that weaue net-works shall be confounded.
GenevaMoreouer, they that worke in flaxe of diuers sortes, shall be confounded, and they that weaue nettes.
וּ/בֹ֛שׁוּ עֹבְדֵ֥י פִשְׁתִּ֖ים שְׂרִיק֑וֹת וְ/אֹרְגִ֖ים חוֹרָֽי
And they shall be broken in the purposes thereof, all that make sluces and ponds for fish.
GenevaFor their nettes shalbe broken, and all they, that make pondes, shalbe heauie in heart.
וְ/הָי֥וּ שָׁתֹתֶ֖י/הָ מְדֻכָּאִ֑ים כָּל עֹ֥שֵׂי שֶׂ֖כֶר אַגְמֵי נָֽפֶשׁ
¶ Surely the princes of Zoan are fooles, the counsell of the wise counsellers of Pharaoh is become brutish: How say ye vnto Pharaoh, I am the sonne of the wise, the sonne of ancient kings?
GenevaSurely the princes of Zoan are fooles: the counsell of the wise counselers of Pharaoh is become foolish: how say ye vnto Pharaoh, I am the sonne of the wise? I am the sonne of the ancient Kings?
אַךְ אֱוִלִים֙ שָׂ֣רֵי צֹ֔עַן חַכְמֵי֙ יֹעֲצֵ֣י פַרְעֹ֔ה עֵצָ֖ה נִבְעָרָ֑ה אֵ֚יךְ תֹּאמְר֣וּ אֶל פַּרְעֹ֔ה בֶּן חֲכָמִ֥ים אֲנִ֖י בֶּן מַלְכֵי קֶֽדֶם
Where are they? Where are thy wise men? and let them tell thee now, and let them know, what the LORD of hosts hath purposed vpon Egypt.
GenevaWhere are nowe thy wise men, that they may tell thee, or may knowe what the Lord of hostes hath determined against Egypt?
אַיָּ/ם֙ אֵפ֣וֹא חֲכָמֶ֔י/ךָ וְ/יַגִּ֥ידוּ נָ֖א לָ֑/ךְ וְ/יֵ֣דְע֔וּ מַה יָּעַ֛ץ יְהוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת עַל מִצְרָֽיִם
The princes of Zoan are become fooles, the princes of Noph are deceiued, they haue also seduced Egypt, euen they that are the stay of the tribes thereof.
GenevaThe princes of Zoan are become fooles: the princes of Noph are deceiued, they haue deceiued Egypt, euen the corners of the tribes thereof.
נֽוֹאֲלוּ֙ שָׂ֣רֵי צֹ֔עַן נִשְּׁא֖וּ שָׂ֣רֵי נֹ֑ף הִתְע֥וּ אֶת מִצְרַ֖יִם פִּנַּ֥ת שְׁבָטֶֽי/הָ
The LORD hath mingled a peruerse spirit in the midst thereof: and they haue caused Egypt to erre in euery worke thereof, as a drunken man staggereth in his vomit.
GenevaThe Lord hath mingled among them the spirite of errours: and they haue caused Egypt to erre in euery worke thereof, as a drunken man erreth in his vomite.
יְהוָ֛ה מָסַ֥ךְ בְּ/קִרְבָּ֖/הּ ר֣וּחַ עִוְעִ֑ים וְ/הִתְע֤וּ אֶת מִצְרַ֨יִם֙ בְּ/כָֽל מַעֲשֵׂ֔/הוּ כְּ/הִתָּע֥וֹת שִׁכּ֖וֹר בְּ/קִיאֽ/וֹ
Neither shall there be any worke for Egypt, which the head or taile, branch or rush may doe.
GenevaNeither shall there be any worke in Egypt, which the head may doe, nor the tayle, ye branch nor the rush.
וְ/לֹֽא יִהְיֶ֥ה לְ/מִצְרַ֖יִם מַֽעֲשֶׂ֑ה אֲשֶׁ֧ר יַעֲשֶׂ֛ה רֹ֥אשׁ וְ/זָנָ֖ב כִּפָּ֥ה וְ/אַגְמֽוֹן
In that day shall Egypt bee like vnto women: and it shall be afraid and feare, because of the shaking of the hand of the LORD of hosts, which he shaketh ouer it.
GenevaIn that day shall Egypt be like vnto women: for it shall be afraide and feare because of the moouing of the hand of the Lord of hostes, which he shaketh ouer it.
בַּ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/ה֔וּא יִֽהְיֶ֥ה מִצְרַ֖יִם כַּ/נָּשִׁ֑ים וְ/חָרַ֣ד וּ/פָחַ֗ד מִ/פְּנֵי֙ תְּנוּפַת֙ יַד יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת אֲשֶׁר ה֖וּא מֵנִ֥יף עָלָֽי/ו
And the land of Iudah shall bee a terrour vnto Egypt, euery one that maketh mention thereof, shal be afraid in himselfe, because of the counsell of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it.
GenevaAnd the land of Iudah shall be a feare vnto Egypt: euery one that maketh mention of it, shalbe afraid thereat, because of ye counsell of the Lord of hostes, which he hath determined vpon it.
וְ֠/הָיְתָה אַדְמַ֨ת יְהוּדָ֤ה לְ/מִצְרַ֨יִם֙ לְ/חָגָּ֔א כֹּל֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יַזְכִּ֥יר אֹתָ֛/הּ אֵלָ֖י/ו יִפְחָ֑ד מִ/פְּנֵ֗י עֲצַת֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת אֲשֶׁר ה֖וּא יוֹעֵ֥ץ עָלָֽי/ו
¶ In that day shall fiue cities in the land of Egypt speake the language of Canaan, and sweare to the LORD of hostes: one shalbe called the citie of destruction.

בַּ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/ה֡וּא יִהְיוּ֩ חָמֵ֨שׁ עָרִ֜ים בְּ/אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֗יִם מְדַבְּרוֹת֙ שְׂפַ֣ת כְּנַ֔עַן וְ/נִשְׁבָּע֖וֹת לַ/יהוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת עִ֣יר הַ/הֶ֔רֶס יֵאָמֵ֖ר לְ/אֶחָֽת
In that day shall there be an Altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to the LORD.
GenevaIn that day shall the altar of the Lord be in the middes of the land of Egypt, and a pillar by the border thereof vnto the Lord.
בַּ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/ה֗וּא יִֽהְיֶ֤ה מִזְבֵּ֨חַ֙ לַֽ/יהוָ֔ה בְּ/ת֖וֹךְ אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם וּ/מַצֵּבָ֥ה אֵֽצֶל גְּבוּלָ֖/הּ לַֽ/יהוָֽה
And it shall be for a signe, and for a witnesse vnto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall crie vnto the LORD, because of the oppressours, and he shal send them a Sauiour and a great One, and he shall deliuer them.

וְ/הָיָ֨ה לְ/א֥וֹת וּ/לְ/עֵ֛ד לַֽ/יהוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת בְּ/אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם כִּֽי יִצְעֲק֤וּ אֶל יְהוָה֙ מִ/פְּנֵ֣י לֹֽחֲצִ֔ים וְ/יִשְׁלַ֥ח לָ/הֶ֛ם מוֹשִׁ֥יעַ וָ/רָ֖ב וְ/הִצִּילָֽ/ם
And the LORD shalbe knowen to Egypt, and the Egyptians shal know the LORD in that day, and shal do sacrifice and oblation, yea they shall vow a vowe vnto the LORD, and performe it.
GenevaAnd the Lord shall be knowen of the Egyptians, and the Egyptians shall knowe the Lord in that day, and doe sacrifice and oblation, and shall vowe vowes vnto the Lord, and performe them.
וְ/נוֹדַ֤ע יְהוָה֙ לְ/מִצְרַ֔יִם וְ/יָדְע֥וּ מִצְרַ֛יִם אֶת יְהוָ֖ה בַּ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/ה֑וּא וְ/עָֽבְדוּ֙ זֶ֣בַח וּ/מִנְחָ֔ה וְ/נָדְרוּ נֵ֥דֶר לַֽ/יהוָ֖ה וְ/שִׁלֵּֽמוּ
And the LORD shall smite Egypt, he shall smite and heale it, and they shall returne euen to the LORD, and he shalbe intreated of them, and shall heale them.
GenevaSo ye Lord shall smite Egypt, he shall smite and heale it: for he shall returne vnto ye Lord, and he shall be intreated of them and shall heale them.
וְ/נָגַ֧ף יְהוָ֛ה אֶת מִצְרַ֖יִם נָגֹ֣ף וְ/רָפ֑וֹא וְ/שָׁ֨בוּ֙ עַד יְהוָ֔ה וְ/נֶעְתַּ֥ר לָ/הֶ֖ם וּ/רְפָאָֽ/ם
¶ In that day shall there be a hie way out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians shall serue with the Assyrians.
GenevaIn that day shall there be a path from Egypt to Asshur, and Asshur shall come into Egypt, and Egypt into Asshur: so the Egyptians shall worship with Asshur.
בַּ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/ה֗וּא תִּהְיֶ֨ה מְסִלָּ֤ה מִ/מִּצְרַ֨יִם֙ אַשּׁ֔וּרָ/ה וּ/בָֽא אַשּׁ֥וּר בְּ/מִצְרַ֖יִם וּ/מִצְרַ֣יִם בְּ/אַשּׁ֑וּר וְ/עָבְד֥וּ מִצְרַ֖יִם אֶת אַשּֽׁוּר
In that day shall Israel bee the third with Egypt, and with Assyria, euen a blessing in the midst of the land:
GenevaIn that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and Asshur, euen a blessing in the middes of the land.
בַּ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/ה֗וּא יִהְיֶ֤ה יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ שְׁלִ֣ישִׁיָּ֔ה לְ/מִצְרַ֖יִם וּ/לְ/אַשּׁ֑וּר בְּרָכָ֖ה בְּ/קֶ֥רֶב הָ/אָֽרֶץ
Whom the LORD of hosts shal blesse, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance.
GenevaFor the Lord of hostes shall blesse it, saying, Blessed be my people Egypt and Asshur, the worke of mine hands, and Israel mine inheritance.
אֲשֶׁ֧ר בֵּרֲכ֛/וֹ יְהוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת לֵ/אמֹ֑ר בָּר֨וּךְ עַמִּ֜/י מִצְרַ֗יִם וּ/מַעֲשֵׂ֤ה יָדַ/י֙ אַשּׁ֔וּר וְ/נַחֲלָתִ֖/י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל
