Chapter 20
Isaiah 20
In the yeere that Tartan came vnto Ashdod (when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him) and fought against Ashdod and tooke it:
GenevaIn the yeere that Tartan came to Ashdod, (when Sargon King of Asshur sent him) and had fought against Ashdod, and taken it,
בִּ/שְׁנַ֨ת בֹּ֤א תַרְתָּן֙ אַשְׁדּ֔וֹדָ/ה בִּ/שְׁלֹ֣ח אֹת֔/וֹ סַֽרְג֖וֹן מֶ֣לֶךְ אַשּׁ֑וּר וַ/יִּלָּ֥חֶם בְּ/אַשְׁדּ֖וֹד וַֽ/יִּלְכְּדָֽ/הּ
At the same time spake the LORD by Isaiah the sonne of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loynes, and put off thy shooe from thy foot: and he did so, walking naked and bare foot.
GenevaAt the same time spake the Lord by ye hand of Isaiah the sonne of Amoz, saying, Goe, and loose the sackecloth from thy loynes, and put off thy shooe from thy foote. And he did so, walking naked and barefoote.
בָּ/עֵ֣ת הַ/הִ֗יא דִּבֶּ֣ר יְהוָה֮ בְּ/יַ֣ד יְשַׁעְיָ֣הוּ בֶן אָמוֹץ֮ לֵ/אמֹר֒ לֵ֗ךְ וּ/פִתַּחְתָּ֤ הַ/שַּׂק֙ מֵ/עַ֣ל מָתְנֶ֔י/ךָ וְ/נַעַלְ/ךָ֥ תַחֲלֹ֖ץ מֵ/עַ֣ל רַגְלֶ֑י/ךָ וַ/יַּ֣עַשׂ כֵּ֔ן הָלֹ֖ךְ עָר֥וֹם וְ/יָחֵֽף
And the LORD said, Like as my seruant Isaiah hath walked naked and bare foote three yeeres for a signe and wonder vpon Egypt and vpon Ethiopia:
GenevaAnd the Lord said, Like as my seruant Isaiah hath walked naked, and barefoote three yeeres, as a signe and wonder vpon Egypt, and Ethiopia,
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוָ֔ה כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָלַ֛ךְ עַבְדִּ֥/י יְשַׁעְיָ֖הוּ עָר֣וֹם וְ/יָחֵ֑ף שָׁלֹ֤שׁ שָׁנִים֙ א֣וֹת וּ/מוֹפֵ֔ת עַל מִצְרַ֖יִם וְ/עַל כּֽוּשׁ
So shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians prisoners, and the Ethiopians captiues, yong and old, naked and bare foote, euen with their buttocks vncouered, to the shame of Egypt.
GenevaSo shall the King of Asshur take away the captiuitie of Egypt, and the captiuitie of Ethiopia, both yong men and olde men, naked and barefoote, with their buttockes vncouered, to the shame of Egypt.
כֵּ֣ן יִנְהַ֣ג מֶֽלֶךְ אַ֠שּׁוּר אֶת שְׁבִ֨י מִצְרַ֜יִם וְ/אֶת גָּל֥וּת כּ֛וּשׁ נְעָרִ֥ים וּ/זְקֵנִ֖ים עָר֣וֹם וְ/יָחֵ֑ף וַ/חֲשׂוּפַ֥י שֵׁ֖ת עֶרְוַ֥ת מִצְרָֽיִם
And they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory.
GenevaAnd they shall feare, and be ashamed of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory.
וְ/חַתּ֖וּ וָ/בֹ֑שׁוּ מִ/כּוּשׁ֙ מַבָּטָ֔/ם וּ/מִן מִצְרַ֖יִם תִּפְאַרְתָּֽ/ם
And the inhabitant of this yle shall say in that day; Behold, such is our expectation whither we flee for helpe to be deliuered from the king of Assyria: and how shall we escape?
GenevaThen shall the inhabitant of this yle say in that day, Behold, such is our expectation, whither we fledde for helpe to be deliuered from the King of Asshur, and howe shall we be deliuered?
וְ֠/אָמַר יֹשֵׁ֨ב הָ/אִ֣י הַ/זֶּה֮ בַּ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/הוּא֒ הִנֵּה כֹ֣ה מַבָּטֵ֗/נוּ אֲשֶׁר נַ֤סְנוּ שָׁם֙ לְ/עֶזְרָ֔ה לְ/הִ֨נָּצֵ֔ל מִ/פְּנֵ֖י מֶ֣לֶךְ אַשּׁ֑וּר וְ/אֵ֖יךְ נִמָּלֵ֥ט אֲנָֽחְנוּ
