Job 20
Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and saide,

Therefore doe my thoughts cause mee to answere, and for this I make haste.

לָ֭/כֵן שְׂעִפַּ֣/י יְשִׁיב֑וּ/נִי וּ֝/בַ/עֲב֗וּר ח֣וּשִׁ/י בִֽ/י
I haue heard the checke of my reproach, and the spirit of my vnderstanding causeth me to answere.

מוּסַ֣ר כְּלִמָּתִ֣/י אֶשְׁמָ֑ע וְ֝/ר֗וּחַ מִֽ/בִּינָתִ֥/י יַעֲנֵֽ/נִי
Knowest thou not this of old, since man was placed vpon earth,

הֲ/זֹ֣את יָ֭דַעְתָּ מִנִּי עַ֑ד מִנִּ֤י שִׂ֖ים אָדָ֣ם עֲלֵי אָֽרֶץ
That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the ioy of the hypocrite but for a moment?

Though his excellencie mount vp to the heauens, and his head reach vnto the clouds:

He shall flie away as a dreame, and shall not be found: yea he shalbe chased away as a vision of the night.

כַּ/חֲל֣וֹם יָ֭עוּף וְ/לֹ֣א יִמְצָא֑וּ/הוּ וְ֝/יֻדַּ֗ד כְּ/חֶזְי֥וֹן לָֽיְלָה
The eye also which saw him, shall see him no more; neither shall his place any more behold him.

עַ֣יִן שְׁ֭זָפַתּ/וּ וְ/לֹ֣א תוֹסִ֑יף וְ/לֹא ע֝֗וֹד תְּשׁוּרֶ֥/נּוּ מְקוֹמֽ/וֹ
His children shall seeke to please the poore, and his hands shall restore their goods.

בָּ֭נָי/ו יְרַצּ֣וּ דַלִּ֑ים וְ֝/יָדָ֗י/ו תָּשֵׁ֥בְנָה אוֹנֽ/וֹ
His bones are ful of the sinne of his youth, which shall ye downe with him in the dust.

עַ֭צְמוֹתָי/ו מָלְא֣וּ עלומ/ו וְ֝/עִמּ֗/וֹ עַל עָפָ֥ר תִּשְׁכָּֽב
Though wickednes be sweet in his mouth, though hee hide it vnder his tongue;

Though he spare it, and forsake it not, but keepe it stil within his mouth:

Yet his meate in his bowels is turned, it is the gall of Aspes within him.

לַ֭חְמ/וֹ בְּ/מֵעָ֣י/ו נֶהְפָּ֑ךְ מְרוֹרַ֖ת פְּתָנִ֣ים בְּ/קִרְבּֽ/וֹ
He hath swallowed downe riches, and hee shall vomite them vp againe: God shall cast them out of his belly.
Geneva 1599He hath deuoured substance, and hee shall vomit it: for God shall drawe it out of his bellie.
חַ֣יִל בָּ֭לַע וַ/יְקִאֶ֑/נּוּ מִ֝/בִּטְנ֗/וֹ יוֹרִשֶׁ֥/נּוּ אֵֽל
He shall sucke the poison of Aspes: the vipers tongue shall slay him.

רֹאשׁ פְּתָנִ֥ים יִינָ֑ק תַּֽ֝הַרְגֵ֗/הוּ לְשׁ֣וֹן אֶפְעֶֽה
Hee shall not see the riuers, the floods, the brookes of hony and butter.

אַל יֵ֥רֶא בִ/פְלַגּ֑וֹת נַהֲרֵ֥י נַ֝חֲלֵ֗י דְּבַ֣שׁ וְ/חֶמְאָֽה
That which he laboured for, shall he restore, & shall not swallow it downe: according to his substance shall the restitution bee, and hee shall not reioyce therein.
Geneva 1599He shall restore the labour, and shall deuoure no more: euen according to the substance shalbe his exchange, and he shall enioy it no more.
מֵשִׁ֣יב יָ֭גָע וְ/לֹ֣א יִבְלָ֑ע כְּ/חֵ֥יל תְּ֝מוּרָת֗/וֹ וְ/לֹ֣א יַעֲלֹֽס
Because hee hath oppressed, and hath forsaken the poore; because he hath violently taken away an house which he builded not:

כִּֽי רִ֭צַּץ עָזַ֣ב דַּלִּ֑ים בַּ֥יִת גָּ֝זַ֗ל וְ/לֹ֣א יִבֶנֵֽ/הוּ
Surely he shall not feele quietnesse in his belly, hee shall not saue of that which he desired.
Geneva 1599Surely he shall feele no quietnes in his bodie, neither shall he reserue of that which he desired.
כִּ֤י לֹא יָדַ֣ע שָׁלֵ֣ו בְּ/בִטְנ֑/וֹ בַּ֝/חֲמוּד֗/וֹ לֹ֣א יְמַלֵּֽט
There shall none of his meat be left, therefore shall no man looke for his goods.
Geneva 1599There shall none of his meate bee left: therefore none shall hope for his goods.
אֵין שָׂרִ֥יד לְ/אָכְל֑/וֹ עַל כֵּ֝֗ן לֹא יָחִ֥יל טוּבֽ/וֹ
In the fulnesse of his sufficiencie, he shalbe in straites: euery hand of the wicked shall come vpon him.
Geneva 1599When he shalbe filled with his abundance, he shalbe in paine, and the hand of all the wicked shall assaile him.
בִּ/מְלֹ֣אות שִׂ֭פְק/וֹ יֵ֣צֶר ל֑/וֹ כָּל יַ֖ד עָמֵ֣ל תְּבוֹאֶֽ/נּוּ
When he is about to fill his belly, God shall cast the furie of his wrath vpon him, and shall raine it vpon him while he is eating.
Geneva 1599He shall be about to fill his belly, but God shall sende vpon him his fierce wrath, and shall cause to rayne vpon him, euen vpon his meate.
יְהִ֤י לְ/מַלֵּ֬א בִטְנ֗/וֹ יְֽשַׁלַּח בּ֭/וֹ חֲר֣וֹן אַפּ֑/וֹ וְ/יַמְטֵ֥ר עָ֝לֵ֗י/מוֹ בִּ/לְחוּמֽ/וֹ
He shall flee from the iron weapon, and the bow of steele shall strike him through.

יִ֭בְרַח מִ/נֵּ֣שֶׁק בַּרְזֶ֑ל תַּ֝חְלְפֵ֗/הוּ קֶ֣שֶׁת נְחוּשָֽׁה
It is drawen, and commeth out of the body; yea the glistering sword commeth out of his gall; terrours are vpon him.

שָׁלַף֮ וַ/יֵּצֵ֪א מִ/גֵּ֫וָ֥ה וּ֭/בָרָק מִֽ/מְּרֹרָת֥/וֹ יַהֲלֹ֗ךְ עָלָ֥י/ו אֵמִֽים
All darknesse shalbe hid in his secret places: a fire not blowen shall consume him; it shall goe ill with him that is left in his tabernacle.
Geneva 1599All darkenes shalbe hid in his secret places: the fire that is not blowen, shall deuoure him, and that which remaineth in his tabernacle, shalbe destroyed.
כָּל חֹשֶׁךְ֮ טָמ֪וּן לִ/צְפּ֫וּנָ֥י/ו תְּ֭אָכְלֵ/הוּ אֵ֣שׁ לֹֽא נֻפָּ֑ח יֵ֖רַע שָׂרִ֣יד בְּ/אָהֳלֽ/וֹ
The heauen shall reueale his iniquitie: and the earth shall rise vp against him.
Geneva 1599The heauen shall declare his wickednes, and the earth shall rise vp against him.
יְגַלּ֣וּ שָׁמַ֣יִם עֲוֺנ֑/וֹ וְ֝/אֶ֗רֶץ מִתְקוֹמָ֘מָ֥ה לֽ/וֹ
The increase of his house shall depart, and his goods shall flow away in the day of his wrath.

יִ֭גֶל יְב֣וּל בֵּית֑/וֹ נִ֝גָּר֗וֹת בְּ/י֣וֹם אַפּֽ/וֹ
This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed vnto him by God.
