But it came to passe within a while after, in the time of wheat haruest, that Samson visited his wife with a kid, and he said, I will goe in to my wife into the chamber. But her father would not suffer him to goe in.

וַ/יְהִ֨י מִ/יָּמִ֜ים בִּ/ימֵ֣י קְצִיר חִטִּ֗ים וַ/יִּפְקֹ֨ד שִׁמְשׁ֤וֹן אֶת אִשְׁתּ/וֹ֙ בִּ/גְדִ֣י עִזִּ֔ים וַ/יֹּ֕אמֶר אָבֹ֥אָה אֶל אִשְׁתִּ֖/י הֶ/חָ֑דְרָ/ה וְ/לֹֽא נְתָנ֥/וֹ אָבִ֖י/הָ לָ/בֽוֹא
And her father saide, I verily thought that thou haddest vtterly hated her, therfore I gaue her to thy companion: is not her younger sister fairer then she? take her, I pray thee, in stead of her.
GenevaAnd her father sayde, I thought that thou hadst hated her: therefore gaue I her to thy companion. Is not her yonger sister fayrer then shee? take her, I pray thee, in stead of the other.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אָבִ֗י/הָ אָמֹ֤ר אָמַ֨רְתִּי֙ כִּי שָׂנֹ֣א שְׂנֵאתָ֔/הּ וָ/אֶתְּנֶ֖/נָּה לְ/מֵרֵעֶ֑/ךָ הֲ/לֹ֨א אֲחֹתָ֤/הּ הַ/קְּטַנָּה֙ טוֹבָ֣ה מִמֶּ֔/נָּה תְּהִי נָ֥א לְ/ךָ֖ תַּחְתֶּֽי/הָ
¶ And Samson said concerning them, Now shal I be more blamelesse then the Philistines, though I do them a displeasure.
GenevaThen Samson saide vnto them, Nowe am I more blamelesse then the Philistims: therefore will I doe them displeasure.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר לָ/הֶם֙ שִׁמְשׁ֔וֹן נִקֵּ֥יתִי הַ/פַּ֖עַם מִ/פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים כִּֽי עֹשֶׂ֥ה אֲנִ֛י עִמָּ֖/ם רָעָֽה
And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and tooke firebrands, and turned taile to taile, and put a firebrand in the midst betweene two tailes.

וַ/יֵּ֣לֶךְ שִׁמְשׁ֔וֹן וַ/יִּלְכֹּ֖ד שְׁלֹשׁ מֵא֣וֹת שׁוּעָלִ֑ים וַ/יִּקַּ֣ח לַפִּדִ֗ים וַ/יֶּ֤פֶן זָנָב֙ אֶל זָנָ֔ב וַ/יָּ֨שֶׂם לַפִּ֥יד אֶחָ֛ד בֵּין שְׁנֵ֥י הַ/זְּנָב֖וֹת בַּ/תָּֽוֶךְ
And when hee had set the brands on fire, he let them goe into the standing corne of the Philistines, and burnt vp both the shockes, and also the standing corne, with the vineyards and oliues.
GenevaAnd when he had set the brandes on fire, he sent them out into the standing corne of the Philistims, and burnt vp both the rickes and the standing corne with the vineyardes and oliues.
וַ/יַּבְעֶר אֵשׁ֙ בַּ/לַּפִּידִ֔ים וַ/יְשַׁלַּ֖ח בְּ/קָמ֣וֹת פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים וַ/יַּבְעֵ֛ר מִ/גָּדִ֥ישׁ וְ/עַד קָמָ֖ה וְ/עַד כֶּ֥רֶם זָֽיִת
¶ Then the Philistines saide, Who hath done this? and they answered, Samson the sonne in law of the Timnite, because hee had taken his wife, and giuen her to his companion. And the Philistines came vp, and burnt her and her father with fire.

וַ/יֹּאמְר֣וּ פְלִשְׁתִּים֮ מִ֣י עָ֣שָׂה זֹאת֒ וַ/יֹּאמְר֗וּ שִׁמְשׁוֹן֙ חֲתַ֣ן הַ/תִּמְנִ֔י כִּ֚י לָקַ֣ח אֶת אִשְׁתּ֔/וֹ וַֽ/יִּתְּנָ֖/הּ לְ/מֵרֵעֵ֑/הוּ וַ/יַּעֲל֣וּ פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים וַ/יִּשְׂרְפ֥וּ אוֹתָ֛/הּ וְ/אֶת אָבִ֖י/הָ בָּ/אֵֽשׁ
¶ And Samson said vnto them, Though ye haue done this, yet will I be auenged of you, and after that, I wil cease.

וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר לָ/הֶם֙ שִׁמְשׁ֔וֹן אִֽם תַּעֲשׂ֖וּ/ן כָּ/זֹ֑את כִּ֛י אִם נִקַּ֥מְתִּי בָ/כֶ֖ם וְ/אַחַ֥ר אֶחְדָּֽל
And he smote them hip and thigh, with a great slaughter; and hee went down and dwelt in the top of the rocke Etam.
GenevaSo hee smote them hippe and thigh with a mightie plague: then hee went and dwelt in the top of the rocke Etam.
וַ/יַּ֨ךְ אוֹתָ֥/ם שׁ֛וֹק עַל יָרֵ֖ךְ מַכָּ֣ה גְדוֹלָ֑ה וַ/יֵּ֣רֶד וַ/יֵּ֔שֶׁב בִּ/סְעִ֖יף סֶ֥לַע עֵיטָֽם
¶ Then the Philistines went vp, and pitched in Iudah, and spread themselues in Lehi.
GenevaThen the Philistims came vp, and pitched in Iudah, and were spred abroad in Lehi.
וַ/יַּעֲל֣וּ פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים וַֽ/יַּחֲנ֖וּ בִּ/יהוּדָ֑ה וַ/יִּנָּטְשׁ֖וּ בַּ/לֶּֽחִי
And the men of Iudah said, Why are ye come vp against vs? and they answered, To bind Samson are we come vp, to doe to him, as he hath done to vs.
GenevaAnd the men of Iudah sayde, Why are yee come vp vnto vs? And they answered, To binde Samson are we come vp, and to do to him as hee hath done to vs.
וַ/יֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ אִ֣ישׁ יְהוּדָ֔ה לָ/מָ֖ה עֲלִיתֶ֣ם עָלֵ֑י/נוּ וַ/יֹּאמְר֗וּ לֶ/אֱס֤וֹר אֶת שִׁמְשׁוֹן֙ עָלִ֔ינוּ לַ/עֲשׂ֣וֹת ל֔/וֹ כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֖ר עָ֥שָׂה לָֽ/נוּ
Then three thousand men of Iudah went to the top of the rocke Etam, and sayd to Samson; Knowest thou not that the Philistines are rulers ouer vs? What is this that thou hast done vnto vs? And he said vnto them, As they did vnto me, so haue I done vnto them.

וַ/יֵּרְד֡וּ שְׁלֹשֶׁת֩ אֲלָפִ֨ים אִ֜ישׁ מִֽ/יהוּדָ֗ה אֶל סְעִיף֮ סֶ֣לַע עֵיטָם֒ וַ/יֹּאמְר֣וּ לְ/שִׁמְשׁ֗וֹן הֲ/לֹ֤א יָדַ֨עְתָּ֙ כִּֽי מֹשְׁלִ֥ים בָּ֨/נוּ֙ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים וּ/מַה זֹּ֖את עָשִׂ֣יתָ לָּ֑/נוּ וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר לָ/הֶ֔ם כַּ/אֲשֶׁר֙ עָ֣שׂוּ לִ֔/י כֵּ֖ן עָשִׂ֥יתִי לָ/הֶֽם
And they said vnto him, Wee are come downe to binde thee, that we may deliuer thee into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said vnto them, Sweare vnto me, that yee will not fall vpon me your selues.
GenevaAgaine they sayd vnto him, Wee are come to binde thee, and to deliuer thee into the hande of the Philistims. And Samson sayde vnto them, Sweare vnto me, that yee will not fall vpon me your selues.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמְרוּ ל/וֹ֙ לֶ/אֱסָרְ/ךָ֣ יָרַ֔דְנוּ לְ/תִתְּ/ךָ֖ בְּ/יַד פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר לָ/הֶם֙ שִׁמְשׁ֔וֹן הִשָּׁבְע֣וּ לִ֔/י פֶּֽן תִּפְגְּע֥וּ/ן בִּ֖/י אַתֶּֽם
And they spake vnto him, saying; No: but wee will binde thee fast, and deliuer thee into their hand: but surely we will not kill thee. And they bound him with two new cordes, and brought him vp from the rocke.
GenevaAnd they answered him, saying, No, but we will bynde thee and deliuer thee vnto their hande, but we will not kill thee. And they bound him with two newe cordes, and brought him from the rocke.
וַ/יֹּ֧אמְרוּ ל֣/וֹ לֵ/אמֹ֗ר לֹ֚א כִּֽי אָסֹ֤ר נֶֽאֱסָרְ/ךָ֙ וּ/נְתַנּ֣וּ/ךָ בְ/יָדָ֔/ם וְ/הָמֵ֖ת לֹ֣א נְמִיתֶ֑/ךָ וַ/יַּאַסְרֻ֗/הוּ בִּ/שְׁנַ֨יִם֙ עֲבֹתִ֣ים חֲדָשִׁ֔ים וַֽ/יַּעֲל֖וּ/הוּ מִן הַ/סָּֽלַע
¶ And when he came vnto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily vpon him, and the cordes that were vpon his armes became as flaxe that was burnt with fire, & his bands loosed from off his hands.

הוּא בָ֣א עַד לֶ֔חִי וּ/פִלְשִׁתִּ֖ים הֵרִ֣יעוּ לִ/קְרָאת֑/וֹ וַ/תִּצְלַ֨ח עָלָ֜י/ו ר֣וּחַ יְהוָ֗ה וַ/תִּהְיֶ֨ינָה הָ/עֲבֹתִ֜ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר עַל זְרוֹעוֹתָ֗י/ו כַּ/פִּשְׁתִּים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בָּעֲר֣וּ בָ/אֵ֔שׁ וַ/יִּמַּ֥סּוּ אֱסוּרָ֖י/ו מֵ/עַ֥ל יָדָֽי/ו
And he found a new iawbone of an asse, and put foorth his hand, and tooke it, and slewe a thousand men therewith.

וַ/יִּמְצָ֥א לְחִֽי חֲמ֖וֹר טְרִיָּ֑ה וַ/יִּשְׁלַ֤ח יָד/וֹ֙ וַ/יִּקָּחֶ֔/הָ וַ/יַּךְ בָּ֖/הּ אֶ֥לֶף אִֽישׁ
And Samson said, With the iawbone of an asse, heapes vpon heapes, with the iaw of an asse haue I slaine a thousand men.
GenevaThen Samson sayd, With the iaw of an asse are heapes vpon heapes: with the iawe of an asse haue I slaine a thousand men.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר שִׁמְשׁ֔וֹן בִּ/לְחִ֣י הַ/חֲמ֔וֹר חֲמ֖וֹר חֲמֹרָתָ֑יִם בִּ/לְחִ֣י הַ/חֲמ֔וֹר הִכֵּ֖יתִי אֶ֥לֶף אִֽישׁ
And it came to passe when he had made an end of speaking, that hee cast away the iaw bone out of his hand, and called that place Ramath-Lehi.
GenevaAnd when he had left speaking, hee cast away the iawebone out of his hande, and called that place, Ramath-Lehi.
וַֽ/יְהִי֙ כְּ/כַלֹּת֣/וֹ לְ/דַבֵּ֔ר וַ/יַּשְׁלֵ֥ךְ הַ/לְּחִ֖י מִ/יָּד֑/וֹ וַ/יִּקְרָ֛א לַ/מָּק֥וֹם הַ/ה֖וּא רָ֥מַת לֶֽחִי
¶ And hee was sore athirst, and called on the LORD, and said, Thou hast giuen this great deliuerance into the hand of thy seruant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the vncircumcised?
GenevaAnd he was sore a thirst, and called on the Lord, and sayde, Thou hast giuen this great deliuerance into the hand of thy seruaunt: and nowe shall I dye for thirst, and fall into the handes of the vncircumcised?
וַ/יִּצְמָא֮ מְאֹד֒ וַ/יִּקְרָ֤א אֶל יְהוָה֙ וַ/יֹּאמַ֔ר אַתָּה֙ נָתַ֣תָּ בְ/יַֽד עַבְדְּ/ךָ֔ אֶת הַ/תְּשׁוּעָ֥ה הַ/גְּדֹלָ֖ה הַ/זֹּ֑את וְ/עַתָּה֙ אָמ֣וּת בַּ/צָּמָ֔א וְ/נָפַלְתִּ֖י בְּ/יַ֥ד הָ/עֲרֵלִֽים
But God claue an hollow place that was in the iawe, and there came water thereout, & when he had drunke, his spirit came againe, and he reuiued: wherefore hee called the name thereof En-hakkore, which is in Lehi, vnto this day:
GenevaThen God brake the cheeke tooth, that was in the iawe, and water came thereout: and when he had drunke, his Spirit came againe, and he was reuiued: wherefore the name therof is called, Enhakkore, which is in Lehi vnto this day.
וַ/יִּבְקַ֨ע אֱלֹהִ֜ים אֶת הַ/מַּכְתֵּ֣שׁ אֲשֶׁר בַּ/לֶּ֗חִי וַ/יֵּצְא֨וּ מִמֶּ֤/נּוּ מַ֨יִם֙ וַ/יֵּ֔שְׁתְּ וַ/תָּ֥שָׁב רוּח֖/וֹ וַ/יֶּ֑חִי עַל כֵּ֣ן קָרָ֣א שְׁמָ֗/הּ עֵ֤ין הַקּוֹרֵא֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּ/לֶּ֔חִי עַ֖ד הַ/יּ֥וֹם הַ/זֶּֽה
And he iudged Israel in the dayes of the Philistines twentie yeeres.

וַ/יִּשְׁפֹּ֧ט אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל בִּ/ימֵ֥י פְלִשְׁתִּ֖ים עֶשְׂרִ֥ים שָׁנָֽה
