Chapter 19
Jeremiah 19
Thus saith the LORD, Goe and get a potters earthen bottell, and take of the ancients of the people, and of the ancients of the Priestes.
GenevaThus sayth the Lord, Goe, and buy an earthen bottel of a potter, and take of the ancients of the people, and of the ancients of the Priests,
כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה הָל֛וֹךְ וְ/קָנִ֥יתָ בַקְבֻּ֖ק יוֹצֵ֣ר חָ֑רֶשׂ וּ/מִ/זִּקְנֵ֣י הָ/עָ֔ם וּ/מִ/זִּקְנֵ֖י הַ/כֹּהֲנִֽים
And goe forth vnto the valley of the sonne of Hinnom, which is by the entrie of the Eastgate, and proclaime there the words that I shall tell thee:
GenevaAnd goe forth vnto the valley of Ben-hinnom, which is by the entrie of the East gate: and thou shalt preache there the wordes, that I shall tell thee,
וְ/יָצָ֨אתָ֙ אֶל גֵּ֣יא בֶן הִנֹּ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֕ר פֶּ֖תַח שַׁ֣עַר ה/חרסות וְ/קָרָ֣אתָ שָּׁ֔ם אֶת הַ/דְּבָרִ֖ים אֲשֶׁר אֲדַבֵּ֥ר אֵלֶֽי/ךָ
And say, Heare ye the word of the LORD, O kings of Iudah, and inhabitants of Ierusalem; Thus saith the LORD of hostes, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring euill vpon this place, the which whosoeuer heareth, his eares shall tingle.
GenevaAnd shalt say, Heare yee the worde of the Lord, O Kings of Iudah, and inhabitantes of Ierusalem, Thus sayth the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, Behold, I will bring a plague vpon this place, the which whosoeuer heareth, his eares shall tingle.
וְ/אָֽמַרְתָּ֙ שִׁמְע֣וּ דְבַר יְהוָ֔ה מַלְכֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה וְ/יֹשְׁבֵ֖י יְרֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם כֹּֽה אָמַר֩ יְהוָ֨ה צְבָא֜וֹת אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל הִנְ/נִ֨י מֵבִ֤יא רָעָה֙ עַל הַ/מָּק֣וֹם הַ/זֶּ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר כָּל שֹׁמְעָ֖/הּ תִּצַּ֥לְנָה אָזְנָֽי/ו
Because they haue forsaken mee, and haue estranged this place, and haue burnt incense in it vnto other gods, whom neither they, nor their fathers haue knowen, nor the kings of Iudah, and haue filled this place with the blood of innocents.

יַ֣עַן אֲשֶׁ֣ר עֲזָבֻ֗/נִי וַֽ/יְנַכְּר֞וּ אֶת הַ/מָּק֤וֹם הַ/זֶּה֙ וַ/יְקַטְּרוּ ב/וֹ֙ לֵ/אלֹהִ֣ים אֲחֵרִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֧ר לֹֽא יְדָע֛וּ/ם הֵ֥מָּה וַ/אֲבֽוֹתֵי/הֶ֖ם וּ/מַלְכֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֑ה וּ/מָֽלְא֛וּ אֶת הַ/מָּק֥וֹם הַ/זֶּ֖ה דַּ֥ם נְקִיִּֽם
They haue built also the high places of Baal, to burne their sonnes with fire for burnt offerings vnto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my minde.

וּ/בָנ֞וּ אֶת בָּמ֣וֹת הַ/בַּ֗עַל לִ/שְׂרֹ֧ף אֶת בְּנֵי/הֶ֛ם בָּ/אֵ֖שׁ עֹל֣וֹת לַ/בָּ֑עַל אֲשֶׁ֤ר לֹֽא צִוִּ֨יתִי֙ וְ/לֹ֣א דִבַּ֔רְתִּי וְ/לֹ֥א עָלְתָ֖ה עַל לִבִּֽ/י
Therefore behold, the daies come, saith the LORD, that this place shall no more bee called Tophet, nor the valley of the sonne of Hinnom, but the valley of slaughter.
GenevaTherefore behold, the dayes come, sayth the Lord, that this place shall no more be called Topheth, nor ye valley of Ben-hinnom, but the valley of slaughter.
לָ/כֵ֞ן הִנֵּֽה יָמִ֤ים בָּאִים֙ נְאֻם יְהוָ֔ה וְ/לֹא יִקָּרֵא֩ לַ/מָּק֨וֹם הַ/זֶּ֥ה ע֛וֹד הַ/תֹּ֖פֶת וְ/גֵ֣יא בֶן הִנֹּ֑ם כִּ֖י אִם גֵּ֥יא הַ/הֲרֵגָֽה
And I will make void the counsell of Iudah and Ierusalem in this place, and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hands of them that seek their liues: and their carkeises will I giue to be meat for the foules of the heauen, and for the beasts of the earth.

וּ֠/בַקֹּתִי אֶת עֲצַ֨ת יְהוּדָ֤ה וִ/ירוּשָׁלִַ֨ם֙ בַּ/מָּק֣וֹם הַ/זֶּ֔ה וְ/הִפַּלְתִּ֤י/ם בַּ/חֶ֨רֶב֙ לִ/פְנֵ֣י אֹֽיְבֵי/הֶ֔ם וּ/בְ/יַ֖ד מְבַקְשֵׁ֣י נַפְשָׁ֑/ם וְ/נָתַתִּ֤י אֶת נִבְלָתָ/ם֙ לְ/מַֽאֲכָ֔ל לְ/ע֥וֹף הַ/שָּׁמַ֖יִם וּ/לְ/בֶהֱמַ֥ת הָ/אָֽרֶץ
And I will make this citie desolate and an hissing: euery one that passeth thereby shalbe astonished and hisse, because of all the plagues thereof.

וְ/שַׂמְתִּי֙ אֶת הָ/עִ֣יר הַ/זֹּ֔את לְ/שַׁמָּ֖ה וְ/לִ/שְׁרֵקָ֑ה כֹּ֚ל עֹבֵ֣ר עָלֶ֔י/הָ יִשֹּׁ֥ם וְ/יִשְׁרֹ֖ק עַל כָּל מַכֹּתֶֽ/הָ
And I will cause them to eate the flesh of their sonnes and the flesh of their daughters, and they shal eate euery one the flesh of his friend in the siege and straitnesse, wherewith their enemies, and they that seeke their liues, shall straiten them.
GenevaAnd I will feede the with the flesh of their sonnes and with the flesh of their daughters, and euery one shall eate the flesh of his friende in the siege and straitnesse, wherewith their enemies that seeke their liues, shall hold them strait.
וְ/הַֽאֲכַלְתִּ֞י/ם אֶת בְּשַׂ֣ר בְּנֵי/הֶ֗ם וְ/אֵת֙ בְּשַׂ֣ר בְּנֹתֵי/הֶ֔ם וְ/אִ֥ישׁ בְּשַׂר רֵעֵ֖/הוּ יֹאכֵ֑לוּ בְּ/מָצוֹר֙ וּ/בְ/מָצ֔וֹק אֲשֶׁ֨ר יָצִ֧יקוּ לָ/הֶ֛ם אֹיְבֵי/הֶ֖ם וּ/מְבַקְשֵׁ֥י נַפְשָֽׁ/ם
Then shalt thou breake þ bottle in the sight of the men that goe with thee,
GenevaThen shalt thou breake the bottell in the sight of the men that go with thee,
וְ/שָׁבַרְתָּ֖ הַ/בַּקְבֻּ֑ק לְ/עֵינֵי֙ הָֽ/אֲנָשִׁ֔ים הַ/הֹלְכִ֖ים אוֹתָֽ/ךְ
And shalt say vnto them; Thus saith the LORD of hostes, Euen so will I breake this people and this citie as one breaketh a potters vessell that cannot bee made whole againe, and they shall bury them in Tophet, till there be no place else to bury.

וְ/אָמַרְתָּ֨ אֲלֵי/הֶ֜ם כֹּה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֗וֹת כָּ֣כָה אֶשְׁבֹּ֞ר אֶת הָ/עָ֤ם הַ/זֶּה֙ וְ/אֶת הָ/עִ֣יר הַ/זֹּ֔את כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֤ר יִשְׁבֹּר֙ אֶת כְּלִ֣י הַ/יּוֹצֵ֔ר אֲשֶׁ֛ר לֹֽא יוּכַ֥ל לְ/הֵרָפֵ֖ה ע֑וֹד וּ/בְ/תֹ֣פֶת יִקְבְּר֔וּ מֵ/אֵ֥ין מָק֖וֹם לִ/קְבּֽוֹר
Thus will I doe vnto this place, sayth the LORD, and to the inhabitants thereof, and euen make their citie as Tophet.
GenevaThus will I doe vnto this place, sayth the Lord, and to the inhabitantes thereof, and I will make this citie like Topheth.
כֵּֽן אֶעֱשֶׂ֞ה לַ/מָּק֥וֹם הַ/זֶּ֛ה נְאֻם יְהוָ֖ה וּ/לְ/יֽוֹשְׁבָ֑י/ו וְ/לָ/תֵ֛ת אֶת הָ/עִ֥יר הַ/זֹּ֖את כְּ/תֹֽפֶת
And the houses of Ierusalem, and the houses of the kings of Iudah shall bee defiled as the place of Tophet, because of all the houses vpon whose roofes they haue burnt incense vnto all the hoste of heauen, & haue powred out drinke offrings vnto other gods.

וְ/הָי֞וּ בָּתֵּ֣י יְרוּשָׁלִַ֗ם וּ/בָתֵּי֙ מַלְכֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה כִּ/מְק֥וֹם הַ/תֹּ֖פֶת הַ/טְּמֵאִ֑ים לְ/כֹ֣ל הַ/בָּתִּ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֨ר קִטְּר֜וּ עַל גַּגֹּֽתֵי/הֶם֙ לְ/כֹל֙ צְבָ֣א הַ/שָּׁמַ֔יִם וְ/הַסֵּ֥ךְ נְסָכִ֖ים לֵ/אלֹהִ֥ים אֲחֵרִֽים
Then came Ieremiah from Tophet, whither the LORD had sent him to prophecie, and hee stood in the court of the LORDs house, and said to all the people,

וַ/יָּבֹ֤א יִרְמְיָ֨הוּ֙ מֵֽ/הַ/תֹּ֔פֶת אֲשֶׁ֨ר שְׁלָח֧/וֹ יְהוָ֛ה שָׁ֖ם לְ/הִנָּבֵ֑א וַֽ/יַּעֲמֹד֙ בַּ/חֲצַ֣ר בֵּית יְהוָ֔ה וַ/יֹּ֖אמֶר אֶל כָּל הָ/עָֽם
Thus saith the LORD of hostes the God of Israel, Behold, I wil bring vpon this city, and vpon all her townes all the euill that I haue pronounced against it, because they haue hardened their neckes, that they might not heare my wordes.
GenevaThus saith the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, Beholde, I will bring vpon this citie, and vpon all her townes, all the plagues that I haue pronounced against it, because they haue hardened their neckes, and would not heare my wordes.
כֹּֽה אָמַ֞ר יְהוָ֤ה צְבָאוֹת֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל הִנְ/נִ֨י מבי אֶל הָ/עִ֤יר הַ/זֹּאת֙ וְ/עַל כָּל עָרֶ֔י/הָ אֵ֚ת כָּל הָ֣/רָעָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבַּ֖רְתִּי עָלֶ֑י/הָ כִּ֤י הִקְשׁוּ֙ אֶת עָרְפָּ֔/ם לְ/בִלְתִּ֖י שְׁמ֥וֹעַ אֶת דְּבָרָֽ/י
