Proverbs 12
Whoso loueth instruction, loueth knowledge: but he that hateth reproofe, is brutish.
GenevaHe that loueth instruction, loueth knowledge: but he that hateth correction, is a foole.
אֹהֵ֣ב מ֭וּסָר אֹ֣הֵֽב דָּ֑עַת וְ/שֹׂנֵ֖א תוֹכַ֣חַת בָּֽעַר
A good man obtaineth fauour of the LORD: but a man of wicked deuices will he condemne.
GenevaA good man getteth fauour of the Lord: but the man of wicked immaginations will hee condemne.
ט֗וֹב יָפִ֣יק רָ֭צוֹן מֵ/יְהוָ֑ה וְ/אִ֖ישׁ מְזִמּ֣וֹת יַרְשִֽׁיעַ
A man shall not bee established by wickednesse: but the roote of the righteous shall not be mooued.
GenevaA man cannot be established by wickednesse: but the roote of the righteous shall not be mooued.
לֹא יִכּ֣וֹן אָדָ֣ם בְּ/רֶ֑שַׁע וְ/שֹׁ֥רֶשׁ צַ֝דִּיקִ֗ים בַּל יִמּֽוֹט
A vertuous woman is a crowne to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed, is as rottennesse in his bones.
GenevaA vertuous woman is the crowne of her husband: but she that maketh him ashamed, is as corruption in his bones.
אֵֽשֶׁת חַ֭יִל עֲטֶ֣רֶת בַּעְלָ֑/הּ וּ/כְ/רָקָ֖ב בְּ/עַצְמוֹתָ֣י/ו מְבִישָֽׁה
The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
GenevaThe thoughtes of the iust are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceitfull.
מַחְשְׁב֣וֹת צַדִּיקִ֣ים מִשְׁפָּ֑ט תַּחְבֻּל֖וֹת רְשָׁעִ֣ים מִרְמָֽה
The words of the wicked are to lie in waite for blood: but the mouth of the vpright shall deliuer them.
GenevaThe talking of the wicked is to lye in waite for blood: but the mouth of the righteous will deliuer them.
דִּבְרֵ֣י רְשָׁעִ֣ים אֱרָב דָּ֑ם וּ/פִ֥י יְ֝שָׁרִ֗ים יַצִּילֵֽ/ם
The wicked are ouerthrowen, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.
GenevaGod ouerthroweth the wicked, and they are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.
הָפ֣וֹךְ רְשָׁעִ֣ים וְ/אֵינָ֑/ם וּ/בֵ֖ית צַדִּיקִ֣ים יַעֲמֹֽד
A man shall be commended according to his wisedome: but hee that is of a peruerse heart, shall be despised.
GenevaA man shall be commended for his wisedome: but the froward of heart shalbe despised.
לְֽ/פִי שִׂ֭כְל/וֹ יְהֻלַּל אִ֑ישׁ וְ/נַעֲוֵה לֵ֝֗ב יִהְיֶ֥ה לָ/בֽוּז
Hee that is despised and hath a seruant, is better then he that honoureth himselfe, and lacketh bread.
GenevaHe that is despised, and is his owne seruant, is better then he that boasteth himselfe and lacketh bread.
ט֣וֹב נִ֭קְלֶה וְ/עֶ֣בֶד ל֑/וֹ מִ֝/מְּתַכַּבֵּ֗ד וַ/חֲסַר לָֽחֶם
A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruell.
GenevaA righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the mercies of the wicked are cruell.
יוֹדֵ֣עַ צַ֭דִּיק נֶ֣פֶשׁ בְּהֶמְתּ֑/וֹ וְֽ/רַחֲמֵ֥י רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים אַכְזָרִֽי
Hee that tilleth his land, shall bee satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vaine persons, is void of vnderstanding.
GenevaHe that tilleth his lande, shalbe satisfied with bread: but he that followeth the idle, is destitute of vnderstanding.
עֹבֵ֣ד אַ֭דְמָת/וֹ יִֽשְׂבַּֽע לָ֑חֶם וּ/מְרַדֵּ֖ף רֵיקִ֣ים חֲסַר לֵֽב
The wicked desireth the net of euill men: but the roote of the righteous yeeldeth fruit.
GenevaThe wicked desireth the net of euils: but the roote of the righteous giueth fruite.
חָמַ֣ד רָ֭שָׁע מְצ֣וֹד רָעִ֑ים וְ/שֹׁ֖רֶשׁ צַדִּיקִ֣ים יִתֵּֽן
The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lippes: but the iust shall come out of trouble.
GenevaThe euill man is snared by the wickednesse of his lips, but the iust shall come out of aduersitie.
בְּ/פֶ֣שַׁע שְׂ֭פָתַיִם מוֹקֵ֣שׁ רָ֑ע וַ/יֵּצֵ֖א מִ/צָּרָ֣ה צַדִּֽיק
A man shall bee satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth, and the recompence of a mans hands shall bee rendred vnto him.
GenevaA man shalbe satiate with good things by the fruite of his mouth, and the recompence of a mans hands shall God giue vnto him.
מִ/פְּרִ֣י פִי אִ֭ישׁ יִשְׂבַּע ט֑וֹב וּ/גְמ֥וּל יְדֵי אָ֝דָ֗ם ישוב לֽ/וֹ
The way of a foole is right in his owne eyes: but he that hearkeneth vnto counsell, is wise.
GenevaThe way of a foole is right in his owne eyes: but he that heareth counsell, is wise.
דֶּ֣רֶךְ אֱ֭וִיל יָשָׁ֣ר בְּ/עֵינָ֑י/ו וְ/שֹׁמֵ֖עַ לְ/עֵצָ֣ה חָכָֽם
A fooles wrath is presently knowen: but a prudent man couereth shame.
GenevaA foole in a day shall be knowen by his anger: but he that couereth shame, is wise.
אֱוִ֗יל בַּ֭/יּוֹם יִוָּדַ֣ע כַּעְס֑/וֹ וְ/כֹסֶ֖ה קָל֣וֹן עָרֽוּם
He that speaketh trueth, sheweth foorth righteousnesse: but a false witnesse, deceit.
GenevaHe that speaketh trueth, will shewe righteousnes: but a false witnes vseth deceite.
יָפִ֣יחַ אֱ֭מוּנָה יַגִּ֣יד צֶ֑דֶק וְ/עֵ֖ד שְׁקָרִ֣ים מִרְמָֽה
There is that speaketh like the pearcings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.
GenevaThere is that speaketh wordes like the prickings of a sworde: but the tongue of wise men is health.
יֵ֣שׁ בּ֭וֹטֶה כְּ/מַדְקְר֣וֹת חָ֑רֶב וּ/לְשׁ֖וֹן חֲכָמִ֣ים מַרְפֵּֽא
The lippe of trueth shall bee established for euer: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
GenevaThe lip of trueth shall be stable for euer: but a lying tongue varieth incontinently.
שְֽׂפַת אֱ֭מֶת תִּכּ֣וֹן לָ/עַ֑ד וְ/עַד אַ֝רְגִּ֗יעָה לְשׁ֣וֹן שָֽׁקֶר
Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine euill: but to the counsellours of peace, is ioy.
GenevaDeceite is in the heart of them that imagine euill: but to the counsellers of peace shall be ioye.
מִ֭רְמָה בְּ/לֶב חֹ֣רְשֵׁי רָ֑ע וּֽ/לְ/יֹעֲצֵ֖י שָׁל֣וֹם שִׂמְחָֽה
There shall no euill happen to the iust: but the wicked shall bee filled with mischiefe.
GenevaThere shall none iniquitie come to the iust: but the wicked are full of euill.
לֹא יְאֻנֶּ֣ה לַ/צַּדִּ֣יק כָּל אָ֑וֶן וּ֝/רְשָׁעִ֗ים מָ֣לְאוּ רָֽע
Lying lippes are abomination to the LORD: but they that deale truely, are his delight.
GenevaThe lying lips are an abomination to the Lord: but they that deale truely are his delite.
תּוֹעֲבַ֣ת יְ֭הוָה שִׂפְתֵי שָׁ֑קֶר וְ/עֹשֵׂ֖י אֱמוּנָ֣ה רְצוֹנֽ/וֹ
A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fooles proclaimeth foolishnesse.
GenevaA wise man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of the fooles publisheth foolishnes.
אָדָ֣ם עָ֭רוּם כֹּ֣סֶה דָּ֑עַת וְ/לֵ֥ב כְּ֝סִילִ֗ים יִקְרָ֥א אִוֶּֽלֶת
The hand of the diligent shall beare rule: but the slouthfull shall bee vnder tribute.
GenevaThe hand of the diligent shall beare rule: but the idle shalbe vnder tribute.
יַד חָרוּצִ֥ים תִּמְשׁ֑וֹל ו֝/רְמִיָּ֗ה תִּהְיֶ֥ה לָ/מַֽס
Heauinesse in the heart of man maketh it stoope: but a good word maketh it glad.
GenevaHeauines in the heart of man doeth bring it downe: but a good worde reioyceth it.
דְּאָגָ֣ה בְ/לֶב אִ֣ישׁ יַשְׁחֶ֑/נָּה וְ/דָבָ֖ר ט֣וֹב יְשַׂמְּחֶֽ/נָּה
The righteous is more excellent then his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.
GenevaThe righteous is more excellent then his neighbour: but the way of the wicked will deceiue them.
יָתֵ֣ר מֵ/רֵעֵ֣/הוּ צַדִּ֑יק וְ/דֶ֖רֶךְ רְשָׁעִ֣ים תַּתְעֵֽ/ם
The slouthfull man rosteth not that which he tooke in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.
GenevaThe deceitfull man rosteth not, that hee tooke in hunting: but the riches of the diligent man are precious.
לֹא יַחֲרֹ֣ךְ רְמִיָּ֣ה צֵיד֑/וֹ וְ/הוֹן אָדָ֖ם יָקָ֣ר חָרֽוּץ
In the way of righteousnesse is life, and in the path-way thereof there is no death.
GenevaLife is in the way of righteousnesse, and in that path way there is no death.
בְּ/אֹֽרַח צְדָקָ֥ה חַיִּ֑ים וְ/דֶ֖רֶךְ נְתִיבָ֣ה אַל מָֽוֶת
