Proverbs 11

A false ballance is abomination to the LORD: but a iust weight is his delight.

GenevaFalse balances are an abomination vnto the Lord: but a perfite weight pleaseth him.

מֹאזְנֵ֣י מִ֭רְמָה תּוֹעֲבַ֣ת יְהוָ֑ה וְ/אֶ֖בֶן שְׁלֵמָ֣ה רְצוֹנֽ/וֹ

When pride commeth, then commeth shame: but with the lowly is wisedome.

בָּֽא זָ֭דוֹן וַ/יָּבֹ֣א קָל֑וֹן וְֽ/אֶת צְנוּעִ֥ים חָכְמָֽה

The integritie of the vpright shall guide them: but the peruersenesse of transgressours shall destroy them.

GenevaThe vprightnes of the iust shall guide them: but the frowardnes of the transgressers shall destroy them.

תֻּמַּ֣ת יְשָׁרִ֣ים תַּנְחֵ֑/ם וְ/סֶ֖לֶף בּוֹגְדִ֣ים ו/שד/ם

Riches profite not in the day of wrath: but righteousnesse deliuereth from death.

GenevaRiches auaile not in the day of wrath: but righteousnes deliuereth from death.

לֹא יוֹעִ֣יל ה֭וֹן בְּ/י֣וֹם עֶבְרָ֑ה וּ֝/צְדָקָ֗ה תַּצִּ֥יל מִ/מָּֽוֶת

The righteousnesse of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his owne wickednesse.

GenevaThe righteousnes of the vpright shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall in his owne wickednes.

צִדְקַ֣ת תָּ֭מִים תְּיַשֵּׁ֣ר דַּרְכּ֑/וֹ וּ֝/בְ/רִשְׁעָת֗/וֹ יִפֹּ֥ל רָשָֽׁע

The righteousnesse of the vpright shall deliuer them: but transgressours shall be taken in their owne naughtinesse.

GenevaThe righteousnesse of the iust shall deliuer them: but the transgressers shall be taken in their owne wickednes.

צִדְקַ֣ת יְ֭שָׁרִים תַּצִּילֵ֑/ם וּ֝/בְ/הַוַּ֗ת בֹּגְדִ֥ים יִלָּכֵֽדוּ

When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of vniust men perisheth.

GenevaWhen a wicked man dieth, his hope perisheth, and the hope of the vniust shall perish.

בְּ/מ֤וֹת אָדָ֣ם רָ֭שָׁע תֹּאבַ֣ד תִּקְוָ֑ה וְ/תוֹחֶ֖לֶת אוֹנִ֣ים אָבָֽדָה

The righteous is deliuered out of trouble, and the wicked commeth in his stead.

GenevaThe righteous escapeth out of trouble, and the wicked shall come in his steade.

צַ֭דִּיק מִ/צָּרָ֣ה נֶחֱלָ֑ץ וַ/יָּבֹ֖א רָשָׁ֣ע תַּחְתָּֽי/ו

An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the iust be deliuered.

GenevaAn hypocrite with his mouth hurteth his neighbour: but the righteous shall be deliuered by knowledge.

בְּ/פֶ֗ה חָ֭נֵף יַשְׁחִ֣ת רֵעֵ֑/הוּ וּ֝/בְ/דַ֗עַת צַדִּיקִ֥ים יֵחָלֵֽצוּ

When it goeth well with the righteous, the citie reioyceth: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.

GenevaIn the prosperitie of the righteous the citie reioyceth, and when the wicked perish, there is ioye.

בְּ/ט֣וּב צַ֭דִּיקִים תַּעֲלֹ֣ץ קִרְיָ֑ה וּ/בַ/אֲבֹ֖ד רְשָׁעִ֣ים רִנָּֽה

By the blessing of the vpright the citie is exalted; but it is ouerthrowen by the mouth of the wicked.

GenevaBy the blessing of the righteous, the citie is exalted: but it is subuerted by the mouth of the wicked.

בְּ/בִרְכַּ֣ת יְ֭שָׁרִים תָּר֣וּם קָ֑רֶת וּ/בְ/פִ֥י רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים תֵּהָרֵֽס

He that is void of wisedome, despiseth his neighbour: but a man of vnderstanding holdeth his peace.

GenevaHe that despiseth his neighbour, is destitute of wisedome: but a man of vnderstanding will keepe silence.

בָּז לְ/רֵעֵ֥/הוּ חֲסַר לֵ֑ב וְ/אִ֖ישׁ תְּבוּנ֣וֹת יַחֲרִֽישׁ

A tale-bearer reuealeth secrets: but hee that is of a faithfull spirit, concealeth the matter.

GenevaHee that goeth about as a slanderer, discouereth a secret: but hee that is of a faithfull heart concealeth a matter.

הוֹלֵ֣ךְ רָ֭כִיל מְגַלֶּה סּ֑וֹד וְ/נֶאֱמַן ר֝֗וּחַ מְכַסֶּ֥ה דָבָֽר

Where no counsell is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellers there is safetie.

GenevaWhere no counsell is, the people fall: but where many counsellers are, there is health.

בְּ/אֵ֣ין תַּ֭חְבֻּלוֹת יִפָּל עָ֑ם וּ֝/תְשׁוּעָ֗ה בְּ/רֹ֣ב יוֹעֵֽץ

Hee that is suretie for a stranger, shall smart for it: and hee that hateth suretiship, is sure.

GenevaHee shall be sore vexed, that is suretie for a stranger, and he that hateth suretiship, is sure.

רַע יֵ֭רוֹעַ כִּי עָ֣רַב זָ֑ר וְ/שֹׂנֵ֖א תֹקְעִ֣ים בּוֹטֵֽחַ

A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retaine riches.

GenevaA gracious woman atteineth honour, and the strong men atteine riches.

אֵֽשֶׁת חֵ֭ן תִּתְמֹ֣ךְ כָּב֑וֹד וְ֝/עָרִיצִ֗ים יִתְמְכוּ עֹֽשֶׁר

The mercifull man doeth good to his owne soule: but he that is cruell, troubleth his owne flesh.

GenevaHee that is mercifull, rewardeth his owne soule: but he that troubleth his own flesh, is cruel.

גֹּמֵ֣ל נַ֭פְשׁ/וֹ אִ֣ישׁ חָ֑סֶד וְ/עֹכֵ֥ר שְׁ֝אֵר֗/וֹ אַכְזָרִֽי

The wicked worketh a deceitfull worke: but to him that soweth righteousnesse, shall be a sure reward.

GenevaThe wicked worketh a deceitful worke: but hee that soweth righteousnes, shall receiue a sure rewarde.

רָשָׁ֗ע עֹשֶׂ֥ה פְעֻלַּת שָׁ֑קֶר וְ/זֹרֵ֥עַ צְ֝דָקָ֗ה שֶׂ֣כֶר אֱמֶֽת

As righteousnesse tendeth to life: so he that pursueth euill, pursueth it to his owne death.

GenevaAs righteousnes leadeth to life: so hee that followeth euill, seeketh his owne death.

כֵּן צְדָקָ֥ה לְ/חַיִּ֑ים וּ/מְרַדֵּ֖ף רָעָ֣ה לְ/מוֹתֽ/וֹ

They that are of a froward heart, are abomination to the LORD: but such as are vpright in their way, are his delight.

תּוֹעֲבַ֣ת יְ֭הוָה עִקְּשֵׁי לֵ֑ב וּ֝/רְצוֹנ֗/וֹ תְּמִ֣ימֵי דָֽרֶךְ

Though hand ioyne in hand, the wicked shall not be vnpunished: but the seede of the righteous shall be deliuered.

יָ֣ד לְ֭/יָד לֹא יִנָּ֣קֶה רָּ֑ע וְ/זֶ֖רַע צַדִּיקִ֣ים נִמְלָֽט

As a iewell of golde in a swines snowt; so is a faire woman which is without discretion.

GenevaAs a iewell of golde in a swines snoute: so is a faire woman, which lacketh discretion.

נֶ֣זֶם זָ֭הָב בְּ/אַ֣ף חֲזִ֑יר אִשָּׁ֥ה יָ֝פָ֗ה וְ/סָ֣רַת טָֽעַם

The desire of the righteous is onely good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath.

GenevaThe desire of the righteous is onely good: but the hope of the wicked is indignation.

תַּאֲוַ֣ת צַדִּיקִ֣ים אַךְ ט֑וֹב תִּקְוַ֖ת רְשָׁעִ֣ים עֶבְרָֽה

There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more then is meete, but it tendeth to pouertie.

GenevaThere is that scattereth, and is more increased: but hee that spareth more then is right, surely commeth to pouertie.

יֵ֣שׁ מְ֭פַזֵּר וְ/נוֹסָ֥ף ע֑וֹד וְ/חוֹשֵׂ֥ךְ מִ֝/יֹּ֗שֶׁר אַךְ לְ/מַחְסֽוֹר

The liberall soule shalbe made fat: and he that watereth, shall be watered also himselfe.

GenevaThe liberall person shall haue plentie: and he that watereth, shall also haue raine.

נֶֽפֶשׁ בְּרָכָ֥ה תְדֻשָּׁ֑ן וּ֝/מַרְוֶ֗ה גַּם ה֥וּא יוֹרֶֽא

Hee that withholdeth corne, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be vpon the head of him that selleth it.

GenevaHe that withdraweth the corne, the people will curse him: but blessing shalbe vpon the head of him that selleth corne.

מֹ֣נֵֽעַ בָּ֭ר יִקְּבֻ֣/הוּ לְא֑וֹם וּ֝/בְרָכָ֗ה לְ/רֹ֣אשׁ מַשְׁבִּֽיר

He that diligently seeketh good, procureth fauour: but hee that seeketh mischiefe, it shall come vnto him.

GenevaHe that seeketh good things, getteth fauour: but he that seeketh euill, it shall come to him.

שֹׁ֣חֵֽר ט֭וֹב יְבַקֵּ֣שׁ רָצ֑וֹן וְ/דֹרֵ֖שׁ רָעָ֣ה תְבוֹאֶֽ/נּוּ

He that trusteth in his riches, shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

GenevaHe that trusteth in his riches, shall fall: but the righteous shall florish as a leafe.

בּוֹטֵ֣חַ בְּ֭/עָשְׁר/וֹ ה֣וּא יִפֹּ֑ל וְ֝/כֶ/עָלֶ֗ה צַדִּיקִ֥ים יִפְרָֽחוּ

He that troubleth his owne house, shall inherite the winde: and the foole shall be seruant to the wise of heart.

GenevaHe that troubleth his owne house, shall inherite the winde, and the foole shalbe seruant to the wise in heart.

עוֹכֵ֣ר בֵּ֭ית/וֹ יִנְחַל ר֑וּחַ וְ/עֶ֥בֶד אֱ֝וִ֗יל לַ/חֲכַם לֵֽב

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life: and hee that winneth soules, is wise.

GenevaThe fruite of the righteous is as a tree of life, and he that winneth soules, is wise.

פְּֽרִי צַ֭דִּיק עֵ֣ץ חַיִּ֑ים וְ/לֹקֵ֖חַ נְפָשׂ֣וֹת חָכָֽם

Behold, the righteous shalbe recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.
