Proverbs 2

My sonne, if thou wilt receiue my words, and hide my commaundements with thee;

בְּ֭נִ/י אִם תִּקַּ֣ח אֲמָרָ֑/י וּ֝/מִצְוֺתַ֗/י תִּצְפֹּ֥ן אִתָּֽ/ךְ

So that thou incline thine eare vnto wisedome, and apply thine heart to vnderstanding:

GenevaAnd cause thine eares to hearken vnto wisdome, and encline thine heart to vnderstanding,

לְ/הַקְשִׁ֣יב לַֽ/חָכְמָ֣ה אָזְנֶ֑/ךָ תַּטֶּ֥ה לִ֝בְּ/ךָ֗ לַ/תְּבוּנָֽה

Yea if thou cryest after knowledge, and liftest vp thy voyce for vnderstanding:

כִּ֤י אִ֣ם לַ/בִּינָ֣ה תִקְרָ֑א לַ֝/תְּבוּנָ֗ה תִּתֵּ֥ן קוֹלֶֽ/ךָ

If thou seekest her as siluer, and searchest for her, as for hid treasures:

GenevaIf thou seekest her as siluer, and searchest for her as for treasures,

אִם תְּבַקְשֶׁ֥/נָּה כַ/כָּ֑סֶף וְֽ/כַ/מַּטְמוֹנִ֥ים תַּחְפְּשֶֽׂ/נָּה

Then shalt thou vnderstand the feare of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

GenevaThen shalt thou vnderstand the feare of the Lord, and finde the knowledge of God.

אָ֗ז תָּ֭בִין יִרְאַ֣ת יְהוָ֑ה וְ/דַ֖עַת אֱלֹהִ֣ים תִּמְצָֽא

For the LORD giueth wisedome: out of his mouth commeth knowledge, and vnderstanding.

GenevaFor the Lord giueth wisdome, out of his mouth commeth knowledge and vnderstanding.

כִּֽי יְ֭הוָה יִתֵּ֣ן חָכְמָ֑ה מִ֝/פִּ֗י/ו דַּ֣עַת וּ/תְבוּנָֽה

He layeth vp sound wisedome for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walke vprightly.

GenevaHe preserueth the state of the righteous: he is a shielde to them that walke vprightly,

ו/צפן לַ֭/יְשָׁרִים תּוּשִׁיָּ֑ה מָ֝גֵ֗ן לְ/הֹ֣לְכֵי תֹֽם

He keepeth the pathes of iudgement, and preserueth the way of his Saints.

GenevaThat they may keepe the wayes of iudgement: and he preserueth the way of his Saintes)

לִ֭/נְצֹר אָרְח֣וֹת מִשְׁפָּ֑ט וְ/דֶ֖רֶךְ חסיד/ו יִשְׁמֹֽר

Then shalt thou vnderstand righteousnesse, and iudgement, and equity; yea euery good path.

אָ֗ז תָּ֭בִין צֶ֣דֶק וּ/מִשְׁפָּ֑ט וּ֝/מֵישָׁרִ֗ים כָּל מַעְגַּל טֽוֹב

¶ When wisedome entreth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant vnto thy soule;

כִּֽי תָב֣וֹא חָכְמָ֣ה בְ/לִבֶּ֑/ךָ וְ֝/דַ֗עַת לְֽ/נַפְשְׁ/ךָ֥ יִנְעָֽם

Discretion shall preserue thee, vnderstanding shall keepe thee:

GenevaThen shall counsell preserue thee, and vnderstanding shall keepe thee,

מְ֭זִמָּה תִּשְׁמֹ֥ר עָלֶ֗י/ךָ תְּבוּנָ֥ה תִנְצְרֶֽ/כָּה

To deliuer thee from the way of the euill man, from the man that speaketh froward things.

GenevaAnd deliuer thee from the euill way, and from the man that speaketh froward things,

לְ֭/הַצִּ֣ילְ/ךָ מִ/דֶּ֣רֶךְ רָ֑ע מֵ֝/אִ֗ישׁ מְדַבֵּ֥ר תַּהְפֻּכֽוֹת

Who leaue the pathes of vprightnesse, to walke in the wayes of darkenesse:

GenevaAnd from them that leaue the wayes of righteousnes to walke in the wayes of darkenes:

הַ֭/עֹ֣זְבִים אָרְח֣וֹת יֹ֑שֶׁר לָ֝/לֶ֗כֶת בְּ/דַרְכֵי חֹֽשֶׁךְ

Who reioyce to doe euill, and delight in the frowardnesse of the wicked.

GenevaWhich reioyce in doing euill, and delite in the frowardnesse of the wicked,

הַ֭/שְּׂמֵחִים לַ/עֲשׂ֥וֹת רָ֑ע יָ֝גִ֗ילוּ בְּֽ/תַהְפֻּכ֥וֹת רָֽע

Whose wayes are crooked, and they froward in their pathes.

GenevaWhose wayes are crooked and they are lewde in their paths.

אֲשֶׁ֣ר אָרְחֹתֵי/הֶ֣ם עִקְּשִׁ֑ים וּ֝/נְלוֹזִ֗ים בְּ/מַעְגְּלוֹתָֽ/ם

To deliuer thee from the strange woman, euen from the stranger, which flattereth with her words:

GenevaAnd it shall deliuer thee from the strange woman, euen from the stranger, which flattereth with her wordes.

לְ֭/הַצִּ֣ילְ/ךָ מֵ/אִשָּׁ֣ה זָרָ֑ה מִ֝/נָּכְרִיָּ֗ה אֲמָרֶ֥י/הָ הֶחֱלִֽיקָה

Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the couenant of her God.

הַ֭/עֹזֶבֶת אַלּ֣וּף נְעוּרֶ֑י/הָ וְ/אֶת בְּרִ֖ית אֱלֹהֶ֣י/הָ שָׁכֵֽחָה

For her house inclineth vnto death, and her pathes vnto the dead:

GenevaSurely her house tendeth to death, and her paths vnto the dead.

כִּ֤י שָׁ֣חָה אֶל מָ֣וֶת בֵּיתָ֑/הּ וְ/אֶל רְ֝פָאִ֗ים מַעְגְּלֹתֶֽי/הָ

None that goe vnto her, returne againe, neither take they hold of the pathes of life.

GenevaAll they that goe vnto her, returne not againe, neither take they holde of the wayes of life.

כָּל בָּ֭אֶי/הָ לֹ֣א יְשׁוּב֑וּ/ן וְ/לֹֽא יַ֝שִּׂ֗יגוּ אָרְח֥וֹת חַיִּֽים

That thou mayest walke in the way of good men, and keepe the pathes of the righteous.

GenevaTherefore walke thou in the way of good men, and keepe the wayes of the righteous.

לְמַ֗עַן תֵּ֭לֵךְ בְּ/דֶ֣רֶךְ טוֹבִ֑ים וְ/אָרְח֖וֹת צַדִּיקִ֣ים תִּשְׁמֹֽר

For the vpright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remaine in it.

GenevaFor the iust shall dwell in the land, and the vpright men shall remaine in it.

כִּֽי יְשָׁרִ֥ים יִשְׁכְּנוּ אָ֑רֶץ וּ֝/תְמִימִ֗ים יִוָּ֥תְרוּ בָֽ/הּ

But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressours shalbe rooted out of it.

וּ֭/רְשָׁעִים מֵ/אֶ֣רֶץ יִכָּרֵ֑תוּ וּ֝/בוֹגְדִ֗ים יִסְּח֥וּ מִמֶּֽ/נָּה
