Psalms 139
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.
O LORD, thou hast searched mee, and knowen me.
GenevaTo him that excelleth. A Psalme of David. O Lord, thou hast tried me and knowen me.
לַ֭/מְנַצֵּחַ לְ/דָוִ֣ד מִזְמ֑וֹר יְהוָ֥ה חֲ֝קַרְתַּ֗/נִי וַ/תֵּדָֽע
Thou knowest my downe sitting, and mine vprising: thou vnderstandest my thought afarre off.
GenevaThou knowest my sitting and my rising: thou vnderstandest my thought afarre off.
אַתָּ֣ה יָ֭דַעְתָּ שִׁבְתִּ֣/י וְ/קוּמִ֑/י בַּ֥נְתָּה לְ֝/רֵעִ֗/י מֵ/רָחֽוֹק
Thou compassest my path, and my lying downe, and art acquainted with all my wayes.
GenevaThou compassest my pathes, and my lying downe, and art accustomed to all my wayes.
אָרְחִ֣/י וְ/רִבְעִ֣/י זֵרִ֑יתָ וְֽ/כָל דְּרָכַ֥/י הִסְכַּֽנְתָּה
For there is not a worde in my tongue: but lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.
GenevaFor there is not a word in my tongue, but loe, thou knowest it wholy, O Lord.
כִּ֤י אֵ֣ין מִ֭לָּה בִּ/לְשׁוֹנִ֑/י הֵ֥ן יְ֝הוָ֗ה יָדַ֥עְתָּ כֻלָּֽ/הּ
Thou hast beset me behind, and before: and laid thine hand vpon me.
GenevaThou holdest mee straite behinde and before, and layest thine hand vpon me.
אָח֣וֹר וָ/קֶ֣דֶם צַרְתָּ֑/נִי וַ/תָּ֖שֶׁת עָלַ֣/י כַּפֶּֽ/כָה
Such knowledge is too wonderfull for me: it is high, I cannot attaine vnto it.

פלאיה דַ֣עַת מִמֶּ֑/נִּי נִ֝שְׂגְּבָ֗ה לֹא א֥וּכַֽל לָֽ/הּ
Whither shall I goe from thy spirit? or whither shall I flie from thy presence?
GenevaWhither shall I goe from thy Spirite? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
אָ֭נָ֥ה אֵלֵ֣ךְ מֵ/רוּחֶ֑/ךָ וְ֝/אָ֗נָה מִ/פָּנֶ֥י/ךָ אֶבְרָֽח
If I ascend vp into heauen, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
GenevaIf I ascende into heauen, thou art there: if I lye downe in hell, thou art there.
אִם אֶסַּ֣ק שָׁ֭מַיִם שָׁ֣ם אָ֑תָּה וְ/אַצִּ֖יעָה שְּׁא֣וֹל הִנֶּֽ/ךָּ
If I take the wings of the morning: and dwell in the vttermost parts of the Sea:

אֶשָּׂ֥א כַנְפֵי שָׁ֑חַר אֶ֝שְׁכְּנָ֗ה בְּ/אַחֲרִ֥ית יָֽם
Euen there shall thy hand leade me: and thy right hand shall hold me.
GenevaYet thither shall thine hand leade me, and thy right hand holde me.
גַּם שָׁ֭ם יָדְ/ךָ֣ תַנְחֵ֑/נִי וְֽ/תֹאחֲזֵ֥/נִי יְמִינֶֽ/ךָ
If I say, Surely the darkenes shall couer me: euen the night shall bee light about me.
GenevaIf I say, Yet the darkenes shall hide me, euen the night shalbe light about me.
וָ֭/אֹמַר אַךְ חֹ֣שֶׁךְ יְשׁוּפֵ֑/נִי וְ֝/לַ֗יְלָה א֣וֹר בַּעֲדֵֽ/נִי
Yea the darkenesse hideth not from thee, but the night shineth as the day: the darknes and the light are both alike to thee.

גַּם חֹשֶׁךְ֮ לֹֽא יַחְשִׁ֪יךְ מִ֫מֶּ֥/ךָ וְ֭/לַיְלָה כַּ/יּ֣וֹם יָאִ֑יר כַּ֝/חֲשֵׁיכָ֗ה כָּ/אוֹרָֽה
For thou hast possessed my reines: thou hast couered me in my mothers wombe.

כִּֽי אַ֭תָּה קָנִ֣יתָ כִלְיֹתָ֑/י תְּ֝סֻכֵּ֗/נִי בְּ/בֶ֣טֶן אִמִּֽ/י
I will praise thee, for I am fearefully and wonderfully made, marueilous are thy works: and that my soule knoweth right well.

אֽוֹדְ/ךָ֗ עַ֤ל כִּ֥י נוֹרָא֗וֹת נִ֫פְלֵ֥יתִי נִפְלָאִ֥ים מַעֲשֶׂ֑י/ךָ וְ֝/נַפְשִׁ֗/י יֹדַ֥עַת מְאֹֽד
My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret: and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
GenevaMy bones are not hid from thee, though I was made in a secret place, and facioned beneath in the earth.
לֹא נִכְחַ֥ד עָצְמִ֗/י מִ֫מֶּ֥/ךָּ אֲשֶׁר עֻשֵּׂ֥יתִי בַ/סֵּ֑תֶר רֻ֝קַּ֗מְתִּי בְּֽ/תַחְתִּיּ֥וֹת אָֽרֶץ
Thine eyes did see my substance yet being vnperfect, and in thy booke all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned: when as yet there was none of them.
GenevaThine eyes did see me, when I was without forme: for in thy booke were all things written, which in continuance were facioned, when there was none of them before.
גָּלְמִ֤/י רָ֘א֤וּ עֵינֶ֗י/ךָ וְ/עַֽל סִפְרְ/ךָ֮ כֻּלָּ֪/ם יִכָּ֫תֵ֥בוּ יָמִ֥ים יֻצָּ֑רוּ ו/לא אֶחָ֣ד בָּ/הֶֽם
Howe precious also are thy thoughts vnto me, O God: how great is the summe of them?
GenevaHowe deare therefore are thy thoughtes vnto me, O God! how great is ye summe of them!
וְ/לִ֗/י מַה יָּקְר֣וּ רֵעֶ֣י/ךָ אֵ֑ל מֶ֥ה עָ֝צְמוּ רָאשֵׁי/הֶֽם
If I should count them, they are moe in number then the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

אֶ֭סְפְּרֵ/ם מֵ/ח֣וֹל יִרְבּ֑וּ/ן הֱ֝קִיצֹ֗תִי וְ/עוֹדִ֥/י עִמָּֽ/ךְ
Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.
GenevaOh that thou wouldest slay, O God, the wicked and bloody men, to whom I say, Depart ye from mee:
אִם תִּקְטֹ֖ל אֱל֥וֹהַּ רָשָׁ֑ע וְ/אַנְשֵׁ֥י דָ֝מִ֗ים ס֣וּרוּ מֶֽ/נִּי
For they speake against thee wickedly: and thine enemies take thy name in vaine.
GenevaWhich speake wickedly of thee, and being thine enemies are lifted vp in vaine.
אֲשֶׁ֣ר יֹ֭אמְרֻ/ךָ לִ/מְזִמָּ֑ה נָשֻׂ֖א לַ/שָּׁ֣וְא עָרֶֽי/ךָ
Doe not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieued with those that rise vp against thee?
GenevaDoe not I hate them, O Lord, that hate thee? and doe not I earnestly contend with those that rise vp against thee?
הֲ/לֽוֹא מְשַׂנְאֶ֖י/ךָ יְהוָ֥ה אֶשְׂנָ֑א וּ֝/בִ/תְקוֹמְמֶ֗י/ךָ אֶתְקוֹטָֽט
I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.
GenevaI hate them with an vnfained hatred, as they were mine vtter enemies.
תַּכְלִ֣ית שִׂנְאָ֣ה שְׂנֵאתִ֑י/ם לְ֝/אוֹיְבִ֗ים הָ֣יוּ לִֽ/י
Search me, O God, and knowe my heart: trie mee, and knowe my thoughts:
GenevaTry mee, O God, and knowe mine heart: prooue me and know my thoughtes,
חָקְרֵ֣/נִי אֵ֭ל וְ/דַ֣ע לְבָבִ֑/י בְּ֝חָנֵ֗/נִי וְ/דַ֣ע שַׂרְעַפָּֽ/י
And see if there bee any wicked way in me: and leade me in the way euerlasting.
GenevaAnd consider if there be any way of wickednes in me, and leade me in the way for euer.
וּ/רְאֵ֗ה אִם דֶּֽרֶךְ עֹ֥צֶב בִּ֑/י וּ֝/נְחֵ֗/נִי בְּ/דֶ֣רֶךְ עוֹלָֽם
