And Satan stoode vp against Israel, and prouoked Dauid to number Israel.

וַ/יַּֽעֲמֹ֥ד שָׂטָ֖ן עַל יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַ/יָּ֨סֶת֙ אֶת דָּוִ֔יד לִ/מְנ֖וֹת אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵֽל
And Dauid saide to Ioab, and to the rulers of the people, Goe, number Israel from Beer-sheba eueu to Dan: and bring the number of them to me, that I may know it.
GenevaTherefore Dauid said to Ioab, and to the rulers of the people, Go, and nomber Israel from Beer-sheba euen to Dan, and bring it to me, that I may knowe the nomber of them.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר דָּוִ֤יד אֶל יוֹאָב֙ וְ/אֶל שָׂרֵ֣י הָ/עָ֔ם לְכ֗וּ סִפְרוּ֙ אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מִ/בְּאֵ֥ר שֶׁ֖בַע וְ/עַד דָּ֑ן וְ/הָבִ֣יאוּ אֵלַ֔/י וְ/אֵדְעָ֖ה אֶת מִסְפָּרָֽ/ם
And Ioab answered, The LORD make his people an hundred times so many moe as they bee: but, my lord the king, are they not al my lords seruants? why then doeth my lord require this thing? why will hee bee a cause of trespasse to Israel?
GenevaAnd Ioab answered, The Lord increase his people an hundreth times so many as they be, O my lord the King: are they not all my lords seruats? wherefore doeth my lord require this thing? why should he be a cause of trespasse to Israel?
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר יוֹאָ֗ב יוֹסֵף֩ יְהוָ֨ה עַל עַמּ֤/וֹ כָּ/הֵם֙ מֵאָ֣ה פְעָמִ֔ים הֲ/לֹא֙ אֲדֹנִ֣/י הַ/מֶּ֔לֶךְ כֻּלָּ֥/ם לַ/אדֹנִ֖/י לַ/עֲבָדִ֑ים לָ֣/מָּה יְבַקֵּ֥שׁ זֹאת֙ אֲדֹנִ֔/י לָ֛/מָּה יִהְיֶ֥ה לְ/אַשְׁמָ֖ה לְ/יִשְׂרָאֵֽל
Neuerthelesse, the kings word preuailed against Ioab: wherefore Ioab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Ierusalem.
GenevaNeuerthelesse the Kings word preuailed against Ioab. And Ioab departed and went thorowe all Israel, and returned to Ierusalem.
וּ/דְבַר הַ/מֶּ֖לֶךְ חָזַ֣ק עַל יוֹאָ֑ב וַ/יֵּצֵ֣א יוֹאָ֗ב וַ/יִּתְהַלֵּךְ֙ בְּ/כָל יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַ/יָּבֹ֖א יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם
¶ And Ioab gaue the summe of the number of the people vnto Dauid: and all they of Israel were a thousand thousand, and an hundred thousand men that drew sword: and Iudah was foure hundred threescore and ten thousand men, that drew sword.

וַ/יִּתֵּ֥ן יוֹאָ֛ב אֶת מִסְפַּ֥ר מִפְקַד הָ/עָ֖ם אֶל דָּוִ֑יד וַ/יְהִ֣י כָֽל יִשְׂרָאֵ֡ל אֶ֣לֶף אֲלָפִים֩ וּ/מֵאָ֨ה אֶ֤לֶף אִישׁ֙ שֹׁ֣לֵֽף חֶ֔רֶב וִֽ/יהוּדָ֕ה אַרְבַּע֩ מֵא֨וֹת וְ/שִׁבְעִ֥ים אֶ֛לֶף אִ֖ישׁ שֹׁ֥לֵֽף חָֽרֶב
But Leui and Beniamin counted hee not among them: for the kings word was abominable to Ioab.

וְ/לֵוִי֙ וּ/בִנְיָמִ֔ן לֹ֥א פָקַ֖ד בְּ/תוֹכָ֑/ם כִּֽי נִתְעַ֥ב דְּבַר הַ/מֶּ֖לֶךְ אֶת יוֹאָֽב
And God was displeased with this thing, therefore he smote Israel.

וַ/יֵּ֨רַע֙ בְּ/עֵינֵ֣י הָ/אֱלֹהִ֔ים עַל הַ/דָּבָ֖ר הַ/זֶּ֑ה וַ/יַּ֖ךְ אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵֽל
And Dauid saide vnto God, I haue sinned greatly, because I haue done this thing: but uow, I beseech thee, doe away the iniquitie of thy seruant, for I haue done very foolishly.

וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר דָּוִיד֙ אֶל הָ֣/אֱלֹהִ֔ים חָטָ֣אתִֽי מְאֹ֔ד אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשִׂ֖יתִי אֶת הַ/דָּבָ֣ר הַ/זֶּ֑ה וְ/עַתָּ֗ה הַֽעֲבֶר נָא֙ אֶת עֲו֣וֹן עַבְדְּ/ךָ֔ כִּ֥י נִסְכַּ֖לְתִּי מְאֹֽד
¶ And the LORD spake vnto Gad, Dauids Seer, saying,
GenevaAnd the Lord spake vnto Gad Dauids Seer, saying,
וַ/יְדַבֵּ֤ר יְהוָה֙ אֶל גָּ֔ד חֹזֵ֥ה דָוִ֖יד לֵ/אמֹֽר
Goe and tell Dauid, saying, Thus saith the LORD, I offer thee three things, choose thee one of them, that I may doe it vnto thee.

לֵךְ֩ וְ/דִבַּרְתָּ֨ אֶל דָּוִ֜יד לֵ/אמֹ֗ר כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה שָׁל֕וֹשׁ אֲנִ֖י נֹטֶ֣ה עָלֶ֑י/ךָ בְּחַר לְ/ךָ֛ אַחַ֥ת מֵ/הֵ֖נָּה וְ/אֶֽעֱשֶׂה לָּֽ/ךְ
So Gad came to Dauid, and said vnto him, Thus saith the LORD, Choose thee
GenevaSo Gad came to Dauid, and sayde vnto him, Thus saith the Lord, Take to thee
וַ/יָּ֥בֹא גָ֖ד אֶל דָּוִ֑יד וַ/יֹּ֥אמֶר ל֛/וֹ כֹּֽה אָמַ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה קַבֶּל לָֽ/ךְ
Either three yeeres famine, or three moneths to bee destroyed before thy foes (while that the sword of thine enemies ouertaketh thee) or else three dayes the sword of the LORD, euen the pestilence in the land, and the Angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore aduise thy selfe, what word I shall bring againe to him that sent me.
GenevaEither three yeeres famine, or three moneths to be destroyed before thine aduersaries, and the sworde of thine enemies to take thee, or els the sworde of the Lord and pestilence in the lande three dayes, that the Angel of the Lord may destroy throughout all the coastes of Israel: nowe therefore aduise thee, what word I shall bring againe to him that sent me.
אִם שָׁל֨וֹשׁ שָׁנִ֜ים רָעָ֗ב וְ/אִם שְׁלֹשָׁ֨ה חֳדָשִׁ֜ים נִסְפֶּ֥ה מִ/פְּנֵי צָרֶי/ךָ֮ וְ/חֶ֣רֶב אוֹיְבֶ֣/ךָ לְ/מַשֶּׂגֶת֒ וְ/אִם שְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת יָ֠מִים חֶ֣רֶב יְהוָ֤ה וְ/דֶ֨בֶר֙ בָּ/אָ֔רֶץ וּ/מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהוָ֔ה מַשְׁחִ֖ית בְּ/כָל גְּב֣וּל יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְ/עַתָּ֣ה רְאֵ֔ה מָֽה אָשִׁ֥יב אֶת שֹׁלְחִ֖/י דָּבָֽר
And Dauid said vnto Gad, I am in a great strait. Let mee fall now into the hand of the LORD (for very great are his mercies,) but let me not fall into the hand of man.
GenevaAnd Dauid said vnto Gad, I am in a wonderfull strait. let me nowe fall into the hande of the Lord: for his mercies are exceeding great, and let me not fall into the hande of man.
וַ/יֹּ֧אמֶר דָּוִ֛יד אֶל גָּ֖ד צַר לִ֣/י מְאֹ֑ד אֶפְּלָה נָּ֣א בְ/יַד יְהוָ֗ה כִּֽי רַבִּ֤ים רַחֲמָי/ו֙ מְאֹ֔ד וּ/בְ/יַד אָדָ֖ם אַל אֶפֹּֽל
¶ So the LORD sent pestilence vpon Israel: and there fell of Israel, seuentie thousand men.
GenevaSo the Lord sent a pestilence in Israel, and there fell of Israel seuentie thousande men.
וַ/יִּתֵּ֧ן יְהוָ֛ה דֶּ֖בֶר בְּ/יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַ/יִּפֹּל֙ מִ/יִּשְׂרָאֵ֔ל שִׁבְעִ֥ים אֶ֖לֶף אִֽישׁ
And God sent an Angel vnto Ierusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD beheld, and he repented him of the euill, and said to the Angel that destroyed, It is ynough, stay now thine hand. And the Angel of the LORD stood by the threshing floore of Ornan the Iebusite.
GenevaAnd God sent the Angel into Ierusalem to destroy it. And as he was destroying, the Lord behelde, and repented of the euill and sayde to the Angel that destroyed, It is nowe ynough, let thine hande cease. Then the Angel of the Lord stoode by the thresshing floore of Ornan the Iebusite.
וַ/יִּשְׁלַח֩ הָ/אֱלֹהִ֨ים מַלְאָ֥ךְ לִֽ/ירוּשָׁלִַם֮ לְ/הַשְׁחִיתָ/הּ֒ וּ/כְ/הַשְׁחִ֗ית רָאָ֤ה יְהוָה֙ וַ/יִּנָּ֣חֶם עַל הָֽ/רָעָ֔ה וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר לַ/מַּלְאָ֤ךְ הַ/מַּשְׁחִית֙ רַ֔ב עַתָּ֖ה הֶ֣רֶף יָדֶ֑/ךָ וּ/מַלְאַ֤ךְ יְהוָה֙ עֹמֵ֔ד עִם גֹּ֖רֶן אָרְנָ֥ן הַ/יְבוּסִֽי
And Dauid lift vp his eyes, and saw the Angel of the LORD stand betweene the earth and the heauen, hauing a drawen sword in his hand stretched out ouer Ierusalem. Then Dauid and the Elders of Israel, who were clothed in sackecloth, fell vpon their faces.

וַ/יִּשָּׂ֨א דָוִ֜יד אֶת עֵינָ֗י/ו וַ/יַּ֞רְא אֶת מַלְאַ֤ךְ יְהוָה֙ עֹמֵ֗ד בֵּ֤ין הָ/אָ֨רֶץ֙ וּ/בֵ֣ין הַ/שָּׁמַ֔יִם וְ/חַרְבּ֤/וֹ שְׁלוּפָה֙ בְּ/יָד֔/וֹ נְטוּיָ֖ה עַל יְרוּשָׁלִָ֑ם וַ/יִּפֹּ֨ל דָּוִ֧יד וְ/הַ/זְּקֵנִ֛ים מְכֻסִּ֥ים בַּ/שַּׂקִּ֖ים עַל פְּנֵי/הֶֽם
And Dauid said vnto God, Is it not I that commanded the people to be numbred? euen I it is that haue sinned, and done euill indeed, but as for these sheepe, what haue they done? Let thine hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be on me, and on my fathers house, but not on thy people, that they should bee plagued.
GenevaAnd Dauid said vnto God, Is it not I that commanded to nomber the people? It is euen I that haue sinned and haue committed euil, but these sheepe what haue they done? O Lord my God, I beseech thee, let thine hande be on me and on my fathers house, and not on thy people for their destruction.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר דָּוִ֣יד אֶֽל הָ/אֱלֹהִ֡ים הֲ/לֹא֩ אֲנִ֨י אָמַ֜רְתִּי לִ/מְנ֣וֹת בָּ/עָ֗ם וַ/אֲנִי ה֤וּא אֲשֶׁר חָטָ֨אתִי֙ וְ/הָרֵ֣עַ הֲרֵע֔וֹתִי וְ/אֵ֥לֶּה הַ/צֹּ֖אן מֶ֣ה עָשׂ֑וּ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהַ֗/י תְּהִ֨י נָ֤א יָֽדְ/ךָ֙ בִּ֚/י וּ/בְ/בֵ֣ית אָבִ֔/י וּֽ/בְ/עַמְּ/ךָ֖ לֹ֥א לְ/מַגֵּפָֽה
¶ Then the Angel of the LORD commanded Gad to say to Dauid, that Dauid should goe vp and set vp an Altar vnto the LORD, in the threshing floore of Ornan the Iebusite.

וּ/מַלְאַ֧ךְ יְהוָ֛ה אָמַ֥ר אֶל גָּ֖ד לֵ/אמֹ֣ר לְ/דָוִ֑יד כִּ֣י יַעֲלֶ֣ה דָוִ֗יד לְ/הָקִ֤ים מִזְבֵּ֨חַ֙ לַ/יהוָ֔ה בְּ/גֹ֖רֶן אָרְנָ֥ן הַ/יְבֻסִֽי
And Dauid went vp at the saying of Gad, which he spake in the Name of the LORD.
GenevaSo Dauid went vp according to the saying of Gad, which he had spoken in the Name of the Lord.
וַ/יַּ֤עַל דָּוִיד֙ בִּ/דְבַר גָּ֔ד אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבֶּ֖ר בְּ/שֵׁ֥ם יְהוָֽה
And Ornan turned backe and saw the Angel, and his foure sonnes with him, hid themselues. Now Ornan was threshing wheat.
GenevaAnd Ornan turned about, and sawe the Angel, and his foure sonnes, that were with him, hid them selues, and Ornan thresshed wheat.
וַ/יָּ֣שָׁב אָרְנָ֗ן וַ/יַּרְא֙ אֶת הַ/מַּלְאָ֔ךְ וְ/אַרְבַּ֧עַת בָּנָ֛י/ו עִמּ֖/וֹ מִֽתְחַבְּאִ֑ים וְ/אָרְנָ֖ן דָּ֥שׁ חִטִּֽים
And as Dauid came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw Dauid, and went out of the threshing floore, and bowed himselfe to Dauid with his face to the ground.

וַ/יָּבֹ֥א דָוִ֖יד עַד אָרְנָ֑ן וַ/יַּבֵּ֤ט אָרְנָן֙ וַ/יַּ֣רְא אֶת דָּוִ֔יד וַ/יֵּצֵא֙ מִן הַ/גֹּ֔רֶן וַ/יִּשְׁתַּ֧חוּ לְ/דָוִ֛יד אַפַּ֖יִם אָֽרְצָ/ה
Then Dauid saide to Ornan, Grant mee the place of this threshing floore, that I may build an Altar therein vnto the LORD: thou shalt grant it mee for the full price, that the plague may be stayed from the people.
GenevaAnd Dauid saide to Ornan, Giue me the place of thy thresshing floore, that I may builde an altar therein vnto the Lord: giue it me for sufficient money, that the plague may be stayed from the people.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר דָּוִ֜יד אֶל אָרְנָ֗ן תְּנָ/ה לִּ/י֙ מְק֣וֹם הַ/גֹּ֔רֶן וְ/אֶבְנֶה בּ֥/וֹ מִזְבֵּ֖חַ לַ/יהוָ֑ה בְּ/כֶ֤סֶף מָלֵא֙ תְּנֵ֣/הוּ לִ֔/י וְ/תֵעָצַ֥ר הַ/מַּגֵּפָ֖ה מֵ/עַ֥ל הָ/עָֽם
And Ornan saide vnto Dauid, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes. Loe, I giue thee the oxen also for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meate offering, I giue it all.
GenevaThen Ornan saide vnto Dauid, Take it to thee, and let my lord the King do that which seemeth him good: loe, I giue thee bullockes for burnt offrings, and thresshing instruments for wood, and wheat for meate offring, I giue it all.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר אָרְנָ֤ן אֶל דָּוִיד֙ קַֽח לָ֔/ךְ וְ/יַ֛עַשׂ אֲדֹנִ֥/י הַ/מֶּ֖לֶךְ הַ/טּ֣וֹב בְּ/עֵינָ֑י/ו רְאֵה֩ נָתַ֨תִּי הַ/בָּקָ֜ר לָֽ/עֹל֗וֹת וְ/הַ/מּוֹרִגִּ֧ים לָ/עֵצִ֛ים וְ/הַ/חִטִּ֥ים לַ/מִּנְחָ֖ה הַ/כֹּ֥ל נָתָֽתִּי
And king Dauid said to Ornan; Nay, but I wil verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings without cost.
GenevaAnd King Dauid saide to Ornan, Not so: but I will bye it for sufficient money: for I wil not take that which is thine for the Lord, nor offer burnt offrings without cost.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר הַ/מֶּ֤לֶךְ דָּוִיד֙ לְ/אָרְנָ֔ן לֹ֕א כִּֽי קָנֹ֥ה אֶקְנֶ֖ה בְּ/כֶ֣סֶף מָלֵ֑א כִּ֠י לֹא אֶשָּׂ֤א אֲשֶׁר לְ/ךָ֙ לַ/יהוָ֔ה וְ/הַעֲל֥וֹת עוֹלָ֖ה חִנָּֽם
So Dauid gaue to Ornan for the place, sixe hundred shekels of gold by weight.

וַ/יִּתֵּ֥ן דָּוִ֛יד לְ/אָרְנָ֖ן בַּ/מָּק֑וֹם שִׁקְלֵ֣י זָהָ֔ב מִשְׁקָ֖ל שֵׁ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת
And Dauid built there an Altar vnto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings, and peace offerings, and called vpon the LORD, and hee answered him from heauen by fire vpon the Altar of burnt offering.

וַ/יִּבֶן֩ שָׁ֨ם דָּוִ֤יד מִזְבֵּ֨חַ֙ לַ/יהוָ֔ה וַ/יַּ֥עַל עֹל֖וֹת וּ/שְׁלָמִ֑ים וַ/יִּקְרָא֙ אֶל יְהוָ֔ה וַ/יַּֽעֲנֵ֤/הוּ בָ/אֵשׁ֙ מִן הַ/שָּׁמַ֔יִם עַ֖ל מִזְבַּ֥ח הָ/עֹלָֽה
And the LORD commaunded the Angel, and hee put vp his sword againe into the sheath thereof.
GenevaAnd when the Lord had spoken to the Angel, he put vp his sworde againe into his sheath.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ לַ/מַּלְאָ֔ךְ וַ/יָּ֥שֶׁב חַרְבּ֖/וֹ אֶל נְדָנָֽ/הּ
¶ At that time, when Dauid saw that the LORD had answered him in the threshing floore of Ornan the Iebusite, then he sacrificed there.

בָּ/עֵ֣ת הַ/הִ֔יא בִּ/רְא֤וֹת דָּוִיד֙ כִּי עָנָ֣/הוּ יְהוָ֔ה בְּ/גֹ֖רֶן אָרְנָ֣ן הַ/יְבוּסִ֑י וַ/יִּזְבַּ֖ח שָֽׁם
For the tabernacle of the LORD which Moses made in the wildernesse, and the Altar of the burnt offering were at that season, in the high place at Gibeon:
Geneva(But the Tabernacle of the Lord which Moses had made in the wildernesse, and the altar of burnt offring were at that season in the hie place at Gibeon.
וּ/מִשְׁכַּ֣ן יְ֠הוָה אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂ֨ה מֹשֶׁ֧ה בַ/מִּדְבָּ֛ר וּ/מִזְבַּ֥ח הָ/עוֹלָ֖ה בָּ/עֵ֣ת הַ/הִ֑יא בַּ/בָּמָ֖ה בְּ/גִבְעֽוֹן
But Dauid could not goe before it to euquire of God; for he was afraid, because of the sword of the Angel of the LORD.
GenevaAnd Dauid could not go before it to aske counsel at God: for he was afraide of the sworde of the Angel of the Lord.)
וְ/לֹא יָכֹ֥ל דָּוִ֛יד לָ/לֶ֥כֶת לְ/פָנָ֖י/ו לִ/דְרֹ֣שׁ אֱלֹהִ֑ים כִּ֣י נִבְעַ֔ת מִ/פְּנֵ֕י חֶ֖רֶב מַלְאַ֥ךְ יְהוָֽה
