Dauid therefore departed thence, and escaped to the caue Adullam: and when his brethren, and all his fathers house heard it, they went downe thither to him.

וַ/יֵּ֤לֶךְ דָּוִד֙ מִ/שָּׁ֔ם וַ/יִּמָּלֵ֖ט אֶל מְעָרַ֣ת עֲדֻלָּ֑ם וַ/יִּשְׁמְע֤וּ אֶחָי/ו֙ וְ/כָל בֵּ֣ית אָבִ֔י/ו וַ/יֵּרְד֥וּ אֵלָ֖י/ו שָֽׁמָּ/ה
And euery one that was in distresse, and euery one that was in debt, and euery one that was discontented, gathered themselues vnto him, and he became a captaine ouer them: and there were with him about foure hundred men.
GenevaAnd there gathered vnto him all men that were in trouble and all men that were in dette, and all those that were vexed in minde, and he was their prince, and there were with him about foure hundreth men.
וַ/יִּֽתְקַבְּצ֣וּ אֵ֠לָי/ו כָּל אִ֨ישׁ מָצ֜וֹק וְ/כָל אִ֨ישׁ אֲשֶׁר ל֤/וֹ נֹשֶׁא֙ וְ/כָל אִ֣ישׁ מַר נֶ֔פֶשׁ וַ/יְהִ֥י עֲלֵי/הֶ֖ם לְ/שָׂ֑ר וַ/יִּהְי֣וּ עִמּ֔/וֹ כְּ/אַרְבַּ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת אִֽישׁ
¶ And Dauid went thence to Mizpeh of Moab; and he said vnto the king of Moab, Let my father, and my mother, I pray thee, come foorth, and be with you, till I know what God will doe for me.
GenevaAnd Dauid went thence to Mizpeh in Moab, and said vnto the King of Moab, I pray thee, let my father and my mother come and abide with you, till I knowe what God wil doe for me.
וַ/יֵּ֧לֶךְ דָּוִ֛ד מִ/שָּׁ֖ם מִצְפֵּ֣ה מוֹאָ֑ב וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר אֶל מֶ֣לֶךְ מוֹאָ֗ב יֵֽצֵא נָ֞א אָבִ֤/י וְ/אִמִּ/י֙ אִתְּ/כֶ֔ם עַ֚ד אֲשֶׁ֣ר אֵדַ֔ע מַה יַּֽעֲשֶׂה לִּ֖/י אֱלֹהִֽים
And he brought them before the king of Moab: and they dwelt with him all the while that Dauid was in the hold.

וַ/יַּנְחֵ֕/ם אֶת פְּנֵ֖י מֶ֣לֶךְ מוֹאָ֑ב וַ/יֵּשְׁב֣וּ עִמּ֔/וֹ כָּל יְמֵ֥י הֱיוֹת דָּוִ֖ד בַּ/מְּצוּדָֽה
¶ And the Prophet Gad said vnto Dauid, Abide not in the hold; depart, and get thee into the land of Iudah. Then Dauid departed, and came into the forrest of Hareth.

וַ/יֹּאמֶר֩ גָּ֨ד הַ/נָּבִ֜יא אֶל דָּוִ֗ד לֹ֤א תֵשֵׁב֙ בַּ/מְּצוּדָ֔ה לֵ֥ךְ וּ/בָֽאתָ לְּ/ךָ֖ אֶ֣רֶץ יְהוּדָ֑ה וַ/יֵּ֣לֶךְ דָּוִ֔ד וַ/יָּבֹ֖א יַ֥עַר חָֽרֶת
¶ When Saul heard that Dauid was discouered, and the men that were with him: (now Saul abode in Gibeah vnder a tree in Ramah, hauing his speare in his hand, and all his seruants were standing about him.)
GenevaAnd Saul heard that Dauid was discouered, and the men that were with him, and Saul remayned in Gibeah vnder a tree in Ramah, hauing his speare in his hande, and all his seruants stoode about him.
וַ/יִּשְׁמַ֣ע שָׁא֔וּל כִּ֚י נוֹדַ֣ע דָּוִ֔ד וַ/אֲנָשִׁ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר אִתּ֑/וֹ וְ/שָׁאוּל֩ יוֹשֵׁ֨ב בַּ/גִּבְעָ֜ה תַּֽחַת הָ/אֶ֤שֶׁל בָּֽ/רָמָה֙ וַ/חֲנִית֣/וֹ בְ/יָד֔/וֹ וְ/כָל עֲבָדָ֖י/ו נִצָּבִ֥ים עָלָֽי/ו
Then Saul saide vnto his seruants that stood about him, Heare now, ye Beniamites: Will the sonne of Iesse giue euery one of you fields, and Uineyards, and make you all captaines of thousands, and captaines of hundreds:
GenevaAnd Saul said vnto his seruants that stood about him, Heare now, ye sonnes of Iemini, wil the sonne of Ishai giue euery one of you fields and vineyardes: will he make you all captaines ouer thousands, and captaines ouer hundreths:
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר שָׁא֗וּל לַֽ/עֲבָדָי/ו֙ הַ/נִּצָּבִ֣ים עָלָ֔י/ו שִׁמְעוּ נָ֖א בְּנֵ֣י יְמִינִ֑י גַּם לְ/כֻלְּ/כֶ֗ם יִתֵּ֤ן בֶּן יִשַׁי֙ שָׂד֣וֹת וּ/כְרָמִ֔ים לְ/כֻלְּ/כֶ֣ם יָשִׂ֔ים שָׂרֵ֥י אֲלָפִ֖ים וְ/שָׂרֵ֥י מֵאֽוֹת
That all of you haue conspired against me, and there is none that sheweth mee, that my sonne hath made a league with the sonne of Iesse, and there is none of you that is sory for me, or sheweth vnto me that my sonne hath stirred vp my seruant against me, to lye in wait, as at this day?
GenevaThat all ye haue conspired against me, and there is none that tellerh mee that my sonne hath made a couenant with the sonne of Ishai? and there is none of you that is sory for me, or sheweth mee, that my sonne hath stirred vp my seruant to lie in wayte against me, as appeareth this day?
כִּי֩ קְשַׁרְתֶּ֨ם כֻּלְּ/כֶ֜ם עָלַ֗/י וְ/אֵין גֹּלֶ֤ה אֶת אָזְנִ/י֙ בִּ/כְרָת בְּנִ֣/י עִם בֶּן יִשַׁ֔י וְ/אֵין חֹלֶ֥ה מִ/כֶּ֛ם עָלַ֖/י וְ/גֹלֶ֣ה אֶת אָזְנִ֑/י כִּ֣י הֵקִים֩ בְּנִ֨/י אֶת עַבְדִּ֥/י עָלַ֛/י לְ/אֹרֵ֖ב כַּ/יּ֥וֹם הַ/זֶּֽה
¶ Then answered Doeg the Edomite, (which was set ouer the seruants of Saul) and saide, I saw the sonne of Iesse comming to Nob, to Ahimelech the sonne of Ahitub.
GenevaThen answered Doeg the Edomite (who was appoynted ouer the seruants of Saul) and sayd, I saw the sonne of Ishai when he came to Nob, to Ahimelech the sonne of Ahitub,
וַ/יַּ֜עַן דֹּאֵ֣ג הָ/אֲדֹמִ֗י וְ/ה֛וּא נִצָּ֥ב עַל עַבְדֵֽי שָׁא֖וּל וַ/יֹּאמַ֑ר רָאִ֨יתִי֙ אֶת בֶּן יִשַׁ֔י בָּ֣א נֹ֔בֶ/ה אֶל אֲחִימֶ֖לֶךְ בֶּן אֲחִטֽוּב
And hee enquired of the LORD for him, and gaue him victuals, and gaue him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.
GenevaWho asked counsell of the Lord for him and gaue him vitailes, and he gaue him also the sword of Goliath the Philistim.
וַ/יִּשְׁאַל ל/וֹ֙ בַּֽ/יהוָ֔ה וְ/צֵידָ֖ה נָ֣תַן ל֑/וֹ וְ/אֵ֗ת חֶ֛רֶב גָּלְיָ֥ת הַ/פְּלִשְׁתִּ֖י נָ֥תַן לֽ/וֹ
Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the Priest, the sonne of Ahitub, and all his fathers house, the Priests that were in Nob: and they came all of them to the king.
GenevaThen the King sent to call Ahimelech the Priest the sonne of Ahitub, and all his fathers house, to wit, the Priests that were in Nob: and they came all to the King.
וַ/יִּשְׁלַ֣ח הַ/מֶּ֡לֶךְ לִ/קְרֹא֩ אֶת אֲחִימֶ֨לֶךְ בֶּן אֲחִיט֜וּב הַ/כֹּהֵ֗ן וְ/אֵ֨ת כָּל בֵּ֥ית אָבִ֛י/ו הַ/כֹּהֲנִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּ/נֹ֑ב וַ/יָּבֹ֥אוּ כֻלָּ֖/ם אֶל הַ/מֶּֽלֶךְ
And Saul said, Heare now thou sonne of Ahitub: and hee answered, Here I am, my lord.
GenevaAnd Saul said, Heare now thou sonne of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I am, my lord.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר שָׁא֔וּל שְֽׁמַֽע נָ֖א בֶּן אֲחִיט֑וּב וַ/יֹּ֖אמֶר הִנְ/נִ֥י אֲדֹנִֽ/י
And Saul saide vnto him, Why haue ye conspired against me, thou and the sonne of Iesse, in that thou hast giuen him bread, and a sword, and hast enquired of God for him, that he should rise against mee, to lye in waite, as at this day?
GenevaThen Saul sayde vnto him, Why haue yee conspired against me, thou and the sonne of Ishai, in that thou hast giuen him vitaile, and a sworde, and hast asked counsell of God for him, that he should rise against me, and lye in wayte as appeareth this day?
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר אל/ו שָׁא֔וּל לָ֚/מָּה קְשַׁרְתֶּ֣ם עָלַ֔/י אַתָּ֖ה וּ/בֶן יִשָׁ֑י בְּ/תִתְּ/ךָ֨ ל֜/וֹ לֶ֣חֶם וְ/חֶ֗רֶב וְ/שָׁא֥וֹל ל/וֹ֙ בֵּֽ/אלֹהִ֔ים לָ/ק֥וּם אֵלַ֛/י לְ/אֹרֵ֖ב כַּ/יּ֥וֹם הַ/זֶּֽה
Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who is so faithfull among all thy seruants, as Dauid, which is the kings sonne in law, and goeth at thy bidding, and is honourable in thine house?
GenevaAnd Ahimelech answered the King, and sayde, Who is so faithfull among all thy seruants as Dauid, being also the Kings sonne in lawe, and goeth at thy commandement, and is honourable in thine house?
וַ/יַּ֧עַן אֲחִימֶ֛לֶךְ אֶת הַ/מֶּ֖לֶךְ וַ/יֹּאמַ֑ר וּ/מִ֤י בְ/כָל עֲבָדֶ֨י/ךָ֙ כְּ/דָוִ֣ד נֶאֱמָ֔ן וַ/חֲתַ֥ן הַ/מֶּ֛לֶךְ וְ/סָ֥ר אֶל מִשְׁמַעְתֶּ֖/ךָ וְ/נִכְבָּ֥ד בְּ/בֵיתֶֽ/ךָ
Did I then beginne to enquire of God for him? be it farre from mee: let not the king impute any thing vnto his seruant, nor to all the house of my father: for thy seruant knew nothing of all this, lesse or more.

הַ/יּ֧וֹם הַחִלֹּ֛תִי ל/שאול ל֥/וֹ בֵ/אלֹהִ֖ים חָלִ֣ילָ/ה לִּ֑/י אַל יָשֵׂם֩ הַ/מֶּ֨לֶךְ בְּ/עַבְדּ֤/וֹ דָבָר֙ בְּ/כָל בֵּ֣ית אָבִ֔/י כִּ֠י לֹֽא יָדַ֤ע עַבְדְּ/ךָ֙ בְּ/כָל זֹ֔את דָּבָ֥ר קָטֹ֖ן א֥וֹ גָדֽוֹל
And the king saide, Thou shalt surely die, Ahimelech, thou, and all thy fathers house.
GenevaThen the King sayd, Thou shalt surely die, Ahimelech, thou, and all thy fathers house.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר הַ/מֶּ֔לֶךְ מ֥וֹת תָּמ֖וּת אֲחִימֶ֑לֶךְ אַתָּ֖ה וְ/כָל בֵּ֥ית אָבִֽי/ךָ
¶ And the king said vnto the footmen that stood about him, Turne and slay the Priests of the LORD, because their hand also is with Dauid, and because they knew when he fled, and did not shew it to mee. But the seruants of the king would not put foorth their hand to fall vpon the Priestes of the LORD.
GenevaAnd the King sayde vnto the sergeantes that stoode about him, Turne, and slay the Priestes of the Lord, because their hand also is with Dauid, and because they knewe when he fled, and shewed it not vnto mee. But the seruantes of the King would not moue their hands to fall vpon the Priests of the Lord.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר הַ/מֶּ֡לֶךְ לָ/רָצִים֩ הַ/נִּצָּבִ֨ים עָלָ֜י/ו סֹ֥בּוּ וְ/הָמִ֣יתוּ כֹּהֲנֵ֣י יְהוָ֗ה כִּ֤י גַם יָדָ/ם֙ עִם דָּוִ֔ד וְ/כִ֤י יָֽדְעוּ֙ כִּֽי בֹרֵ֣חַ ה֔וּא וְ/לֹ֥א גָל֖וּ אֶת אזנ/ו וְ/לֹֽא אָב֞וּ עַבְדֵ֤י הַ/מֶּ֨לֶךְ֙ לִ/שְׁלֹ֣חַ אֶת יָדָ֔/ם לִ/פְגֹ֖עַ בְּ/כֹהֲנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה
And the king said to Doeg, Turne thou and fall vpon the Priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and hee fell vpon the Priests, and slew on that day foure score and fiue persons that did weare a linnen Ephod.
GenevaThen the King sayde to Doeg, Turne thou and fall vpon the Priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and ran vpon the Priestes, and slewe that same daye foure score and fiue persons that did weare a linen Ephod.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר הַ/מֶּ֨לֶךְ֙ ל/דויג סֹ֣ב אַתָּ֔ה וּ/פְגַ֖ע בַּ/כֹּהֲנִ֑ים וַ/יִּסֹּ֞ב דויג הָ/אֲדֹמִ֗י וַ/יִּפְגַּע הוּא֙ בַּ/כֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים וַ/יָּ֣מֶת בַּ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/ה֗וּא שְׁמֹנִ֤ים וַ/חֲמִשָּׁה֙ אִ֔ישׁ נֹשֵׂ֖א אֵפ֥וֹד בָּֽד
And Nob the citie of the Priests smote he with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, and oxen and asses, and sheepe, with the edge of the sword.
GenevaAlso Nob the citie of the Priestes smote he with the edge of the sword, both man and woman, both childe and suckling, both oxe and asse, and sheepe with the edge of the sword.
וְ/אֵ֨ת נֹ֤ב עִיר הַ/כֹּֽהֲנִים֙ הִכָּ֣ה לְ/פִי חֶ֔רֶב מֵ/אִישׁ֙ וְ/עַד אִשָּׁ֔ה מֵ/עוֹלֵ֖ל וְ/עַד יוֹנֵ֑ק וְ/שׁ֧וֹר וַ/חֲמ֛וֹר וָ/שֶׂ֖ה לְ/פִי חָֽרֶב
¶ And one of the sonnes of Ahimelech, the sonne of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled after Dauid:
GenevaBut one of the sonnes of Ahimelech the sonne of Ahitub (whose name was Abiathar) escaped and fled after Dauid.
וַ/יִּמָּלֵ֣ט בֵּן אֶחָ֗ד לַ/אֲחִימֶ֨לֶךְ֙ בֶּן אֲחִט֔וּב וּ/שְׁמ֖/וֹ אֶבְיָתָ֑ר וַ/יִּבְרַ֖ח אַחֲרֵ֥י דָוִֽד
And Abiathar shewed Dauid that Saul had slaine the LORDs Priests.
GenevaAnd Abiathar shewed Dauid, that Saul had slayne the Lords Priestes.
וַ/יַּגֵּ֥ד אֶבְיָתָ֖ר לְ/דָוִ֑ד כִּ֚י הָרַ֣ג שָׁא֔וּל אֵ֖ת כֹּהֲנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה
And Dauid said vnto Abiathar, I knew it that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul: I haue occasioned the death of all the persons of thy fathers house.
GenevaAnd Dauid sayd vnto Abiathar, I knewe it the same day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would tell Saul. I am the cause of the death of all the persons of thy fathers house.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר דָּוִ֜ד לְ/אֶבְיָתָ֗ר יָדַ֜עְתִּי בַּ/יּ֤וֹם הַ/הוּא֙ כִּֽי שָׁם֙ דויג הָ/אֲדֹמִ֔י כִּֽי הַגֵּ֥ד יַגִּ֖יד לְ/שָׁא֑וּל אָנֹכִ֣י סַבֹּ֔תִי בְּ/כָל נֶ֖פֶשׁ בֵּ֥ית אָבִֽי/ךָ
Abide thou with me, feare not: for he that seeketh my life, seeketh thy life: but with me thou shalt bee in safegard.

שְׁבָ֤/ה אִתִּ/י֙ אַל תִּירָ֔א כִּ֛י אֲשֶׁר יְבַקֵּ֥שׁ אֶת נַפְשִׁ֖/י יְבַקֵּ֣שׁ אֶת נַפְשֶׁ֑/ךָ כִּֽי מִשְׁמֶ֥רֶת אַתָּ֖ה עִמָּדִֽ/י
