Esther 5
Now it came to passe on the third day, that Esther put on her royall apparell, and stood in the inner court of the kings house, ouer against the kings house: and the King sate vpon his royall throne in the royall house, ouer against the gate of the house.
GenevaAnd on the third day Ester put on her royal apparel, and stood in the court of the Kings palace within, ouer against the Kings house: and the King sate vpon his royal throne in the Kings palace ouer against the gate of the house.
וַ/יְהִ֣י בַּ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/שְּׁלִישִׁ֗י וַ/תִּלְבַּ֤שׁ אֶסְתֵּר֙ מַלְכ֔וּת וַֽ/תַּעֲמֹ֞ד בַּ/חֲצַ֤ר בֵּית הַ/מֶּ֨לֶךְ֙ הַ/פְּנִימִ֔ית נֹ֖כַח בֵּ֣ית הַ/מֶּ֑לֶךְ וְ֠/הַ/מֶּלֶךְ יוֹשֵׁ֞ב עַל כִּסֵּ֤א מַלְכוּת/וֹ֙ בְּ/בֵ֣ית הַ/מַּלְכ֔וּת נֹ֖כַח פֶּ֥תַח הַ/בָּֽיִת
And it was so, when the king saw Esther the Queene standing in the court, that shee obtained fauour in his sight: and the king helde out to Esther the golden scepter that was in his hand: So Esther drew neere, and touched the top of the scepter.
GenevaAnd when the King saw Ester the Queene standing in the court, shee founde fauour in his sight: and the King held out the golden scepter that was in his hand: so Ester drewe neere, and touched the toppe of the scepter.
וַ/יְהִי֩ כִ/רְא֨וֹת הַ/מֶּ֜לֶךְ אֶת אֶסְתֵּ֣ר הַ/מַּלְכָּ֗ה עֹמֶ֨דֶת֙ בֶּֽ/חָצֵ֔ר נָשְׂאָ֥ה חֵ֖ן בְּ/עֵינָ֑י/ו וַ/יּ֨וֹשֶׁט הַ/מֶּ֜לֶךְ לְ/אֶסְתֵּ֗ר אֶת שַׁרְבִ֤יט הַ/זָּהָב֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּ/יָד֔/וֹ וַ/תִּקְרַ֣ב אֶסְתֵּ֔ר וַ/תִּגַּ֖ע בְּ/רֹ֥אשׁ הַ/שַּׁרְבִֽיט
Then sayd the King vnto her, What wilt thou, Queene Esther? and what is thy request? it shall bee euen giuen thee to the halfe of the kingdome.
GenevaThen saide the King vnto her, What wilt thou, Queene Ester? and what is thy request? it shall be euen giuen thee to the halfe of ye kingdome.
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר לָ/הּ֙ הַ/מֶּ֔לֶךְ מַה לָּ֖/ךְ אֶסְתֵּ֣ר הַ/מַּלְכָּ֑ה וּ/מַה בַּקָּשָׁתֵ֛/ךְ עַד חֲצִ֥י הַ/מַּלְכ֖וּת וְ/יִנָּ֥תֵֽן לָֽ/ךְ
And Esther answered, If it seeme good vnto the King, let the King and Haman come this day vnto the banquet that I haue prepared for him.
GenevaThen saide Ester, If it please the King, let the King and Haman come this day vnto the banket, that I haue prepared for him.
וַ/תֹּ֣אמֶר אֶסְתֵּ֔ר אִם עַל הַ/מֶּ֖לֶךְ ט֑וֹב יָב֨וֹא הַ/מֶּ֤לֶךְ וְ/הָמָן֙ הַ/יּ֔וֹם אֶל הַ/מִּשְׁתֶּ֖ה אֲשֶׁר עָשִׂ֥יתִי לֽ/וֹ
Then the King sayd, Cause Haman to make haste, that he may doe as Esther hath said: So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther had prepared.
GenevaAnd the King sayd, Cause Haman to make haste that he may doe as Ester hath sayde. So the King and Haman came to the banket that Ester had prepared.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר הַ/מֶּ֔לֶךְ מַהֲרוּ֙ אֶת הָמָ֔ן לַ/עֲשׂ֖וֹת אֶת דְּבַ֣ר אֶסְתֵּ֑ר וַ/יָּבֹ֤א הַ/מֶּ֨לֶךְ֙ וְ/הָמָ֔ן אֶל הַ/מִּשְׁתֶּ֖ה אֲשֶׁר עָשְׂתָ֥ה אֶסְתֵּֽר
¶ And the king said vnto Esther at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition, and it shall be granted thee? and what is thy request? euen to the halfe of the kingdome it shall be performed.
GenevaAnd the King sayd vnto Ester at the banket of wine, What is thy petition, that it may be giuen thee? and what is thy request? it shall euen be performed vnto the halfe of the kingdome.
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר הַ/מֶּ֤לֶךְ לְ/אֶסְתֵּר֙ בְּ/מִשְׁתֵּ֣ה הַ/יַּ֔יִן מַה שְּׁאֵלָתֵ֖/ךְ וְ/יִנָּ֣תֵֽן לָ֑/ךְ וּ/מַה בַּקָּשָׁתֵ֛/ךְ עַד חֲצִ֥י הַ/מַּלְכ֖וּת וְ/תֵעָֽשׂ
Then answered Esther, and said, My petition, and my request is,
GenevaThen answered Ester, and sayd, My petition and my request is,
וַ/תַּ֥עַן אֶסְתֵּ֖ר וַ/תֹּאמַ֑ר שְׁאֵלָתִ֖/י וּ/בַקָּשָׁתִֽ/י
If I haue found fauour in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition, and to performe my request, let the king, and Haman, come to the banquet that I shall prepare for them, and I wil do to morow, as the king hath said.
GenevaIf I haue found fauour in the sight of the King, and if it please the King to giue me my petition, and to perfourme my request, let the King and Haman come to the banket that I shall prepare for them, and I will doe to morowe according to the Kings saying.
אִם מָצָ֨אתִי חֵ֜ן בְּ/עֵינֵ֣י הַ/מֶּ֗לֶךְ וְ/אִם עַל הַ/מֶּ֨לֶךְ֙ ט֔וֹב לָ/תֵת֙ אֶת שְׁאֵ֣לָתִ֔/י וְ/לַ/עֲשׂ֖וֹת אֶת בַּקָּשָׁתִ֑/י יָב֧וֹא הַ/מֶּ֣לֶךְ וְ/הָמָ֗ן אֶל הַ/מִּשְׁתֶּה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֣ה לָ/הֶ֔ם וּ/מָחָ֥ר אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֖ה כִּ/דְבַ֥ר הַ/מֶּֽלֶךְ
¶ Then went Haman foorth that day, ioyfull, and with a glad heart: but when Haman saw Mordecai in the kings gate, that hee stood not vp, nor mooued for him, hee was full of indignation against Mordecai.
GenevaThen went Haman forth the same day ioyfull and with a glad heart. But when Haman sawe Mordecai in the Kings gate, that he stoode not vp, nor moued for him, then was Haman full of indignation at Mordecai.
וַ/יֵּצֵ֤א הָמָן֙ בַּ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/ה֔וּא שָׂמֵ֖חַ וְ/ט֣וֹב לֵ֑ב וְ/כִ/רְאוֹת֩ הָמָ֨ן אֶֽת מָרְדֳּכַ֜י בְּ/שַׁ֣עַר הַ/מֶּ֗לֶךְ וְ/לֹא קָם֙ וְ/לֹא זָ֣ע מִמֶּ֔/נּוּ וַ/יִּמָּלֵ֥א הָמָ֛ן עַֽל מָרְדֳּכַ֖י חֵמָֽה
Neuerthelesse Haman refrained himselfe, and when he came home, hee sent and called for his friends, and Zeresh his wife.

וַ/יִּתְאַפַּ֣ק הָמָ֔ן וַ/יָּב֖וֹא אֶל בֵּית֑/וֹ וַ/יִּשְׁלַ֛ח וַ/יָּבֵ֥א אֶת אֹהֲבָ֖י/ו וְ/אֶת זֶ֥רֶשׁ אִשְׁתּֽ/וֹ
And Haman told them of the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all the things wherein the king had promoted him, and how he had aduanced him aboue the Princes, and seruants of the king.

וַ/יְסַפֵּ֨ר לָ/הֶ֥ם הָמָ֛ן אֶת כְּב֥וֹד עָשְׁר֖/וֹ וְ/רֹ֣ב בָּנָ֑י/ו וְ/אֵת֩ כָּל אֲשֶׁ֨ר גִּדְּל֤/וֹ הַ/מֶּ֨לֶךְ֙ וְ/אֵ֣ת אֲשֶׁ֣ר נִשְּׂא֔/וֹ עַל הַ/שָּׂרִ֖ים וְ/עַבְדֵ֥י הַ/מֶּֽלֶךְ
Haman said moreouer, Yea Esther the Queene did let no man come in with the king vnto the banquet that she had prepared, but my selfe; and to morrow am I inuited vnto her also with the king.
GenevaHaman sayde moreouer, Yea, Ester the Queene did let no man come in with the King to the banket that she had prepared, saue me: and to morowe am I bidden vnto her also with the King.
וַ/יֹּאמֶר֮ הָמָן֒ אַ֣ף לֹא הֵבִיאָה֩ אֶסְתֵּ֨ר הַ/מַּלְכָּ֧ה עִם הַ/מֶּ֛לֶךְ אֶל הַ/מִּשְׁתֶּ֥ה אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂ֖תָה כִּ֣י אִם אוֹתִ֑/י וְ/גַם לְ/מָחָ֛ר אֲנִ֥י קָֽרוּא לָ֖/הּ עִם הַ/מֶּֽלֶךְ
Yet all this auaileth me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Iew sitting at the kings gate.
GenevaBut al this doth nothing auaile me, as long as I see Mordecai ye Iewe sitting at ye Kings gate.
וְ/כָל זֶ֕ה אֵינֶ֥/נּוּ שֹׁוֶ֖ה לִ֑/י בְּ/כָל עֵ֗ת אֲשֶׁ֨ר אֲנִ֤י רֹאֶה֙ אֶת מָרְדֳּכַ֣י הַ/יְּהוּדִ֔י יוֹשֵׁ֖ב בְּ/שַׁ֥עַר הַ/מֶּֽלֶךְ
¶ Then saide Zeresh his wife, and all his friends vnto him, Let a gallous be made of fifty cubits hie, and to morrow speake thou vnto the king, that Mordecai may be hanged thereon: then goe thou in merily with the king vnto the banquet. And the thing pleased Haman, and hee caused the gallous to be made.
GenevaThen sayde Zeresh his wife and all his friends vnto him, Let them make a tree of fiftie cubites hie, and to morowe speake thou vnto the King, that Mordecai may be hanged thereon: then shalt thou goe ioyfully with the King vnto the banket. And the thing pleased Haman, and he caused to make the tree.
וַ/תֹּ֣אמֶר ל/וֹ֩ זֶ֨רֶשׁ אִשְׁתּ֜/וֹ וְ/כָל אֹֽהֲבָ֗י/ו יַֽעֲשׂוּ עֵץ֮ גָּבֹ֣הַּ חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים אַמָּה֒ וּ/בַ/בֹּ֣קֶר אֱמֹ֣ר לַ/מֶּ֗לֶךְ וְ/יִתְל֤וּ אֶֽת מָרְדֳּכַי֙ עָלָ֔י/ו וּ/בֹֽא עִם הַ/מֶּ֥לֶךְ אֶל הַ/מִּשְׁתֶּ֖ה שָׂמֵ֑חַ וַ/יִּיטַ֧ב הַ/דָּבָ֛ר לִ/פְנֵ֥י הָמָ֖ן וַ/יַּ֥עַשׂ הָ/עֵֽץ
