Isaiah 22
The burden of the valley of vision. What ayleth thee now, that thou art wholly gone vp to the house toppes?
GenevaThe burden of the valley of vision. What aileth thee nowe that thou art wholy gone vp vnto the house toppes?
מַשָּׂ֖א גֵּ֣יא חִזָּי֑וֹן מַה לָּ֣/ךְ אֵפ֔וֹא כִּֽי עָלִ֥ית כֻּלָּ֖/ךְ לַ/גַּגּֽוֹת
Thou that art full of stirres, a tumultuous citie, a ioyous citie: thy slaine men are not slaine with the sword, nor dead in battell.
GenevaThou that art full of noise, a citie full of brute, a ioyous citie: thy slaine men shall not bee slaine with sworde, nor die in battell.
תְּשֻׁא֣וֹת מְלֵאָ֗ה עִ֚יר הֽוֹמִיָּ֔ה קִרְיָ֖ה עַלִּיזָ֑ה חֲלָלַ֨יִ/ךְ֙ לֹ֣א חַלְלֵי חֶ֔רֶב וְ/לֹ֖א מֵתֵ֥י מִלְחָמָֽה
All thy rulers are fled together, they are bound by the archers: all that are found in thee are bound together, which haue fled from farre.
GenevaAll thy princes shall flee together from the bowe: they shalbe bound: all that shall be found in thee, shall be bound together, which haue fled from farre.
כָּל קְצִינַ֥יִ/ךְ נָֽדְדוּ יַ֖חַד מִ/קֶּ֣שֶׁת אֻסָּ֑רוּ כָּל נִמְצָאַ֨יִ/ךְ֙ אֻסְּר֣וּ יַחְדָּ֔ו מֵ/רָח֖וֹק בָּרָֽחוּ
Therefore sayd I; Looke away from me, I will weepe bitterly, labour not to comfort me; because of the spoiling of the daughter of my people.
GenevaTherefore said I, Turne away from me: I wil weepe bitterly: labour not to comfort mee for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
עַל כֵּ֥ן אָמַ֛רְתִּי שְׁע֥וּ מִ/נִּ֖י אֲמָרֵ֣ר בַּ/בֶּ֑כִי אַל תָּאִ֣יצוּ לְ/נַֽחֲמֵ֔/נִי עַל שֹׁ֖ד בַּת עַמִּֽ/י
For it is a day of trouble, and of treading downe, and of perplexitie by the Lord GOD of hostes in the valley of vision, breaking downe the walles, and of crying to the mountaines.
GenevaFor it is a day of trouble, and of ruine, and of perplexitie by the Lord God of hostes in the valley of vision, breaking downe the citie: and a crying vnto the mountaines.
כִּ֣י יוֹם֩ מְהוּמָ֨ה וּ/מְבוּסָ֜ה וּ/מְבוּכָ֗ה לַֽ/אדֹנָ֧/י יְהוִ֛ה צְבָא֖וֹת בְּ/גֵ֣יא חִזָּי֑וֹן מְקַרְקַ֥ר קִ֖ר וְ/שׁ֥וֹעַ אֶל הָ/הָֽר
And Elam bare the quiuer with charets of men and horsemen, and Kir vncouered the shield.
GenevaAnd Elam bare the quiuer in a mans charet with horsemen, and Kir vncouered the shield.
וְ/עֵילָם֙ נָשָׂ֣א אַשְׁפָּ֔ה בְּ/רֶ֥כֶב אָדָ֖ם פָּֽרָשִׁ֑ים וְ/קִ֥יר עֵרָ֖ה מָגֵֽן
And it shall come to passe that thy choicest valleys shall be full of charets, and the horsemen shall set themselues in aray at the gate.
GenevaAnd thy chiefe valleis were full of charets, and the horsemen set themselues in aray against the gate.
וַ/יְהִ֥י מִבְחַר עֲמָקַ֖יִ/ךְ מָ֣לְאוּ רָ֑כֶב וְ/הַ/פָּ֣רָשִׁ֔ים שֹׁ֖ת שָׁ֥תוּ הַ/שָּֽׁעְרָ/ה
¶ And he discouered the couering of Iudah, and thou diddest looke in that day to the armour of the house of the forrest.
GenevaAnd hee discouered the couering of Iudah: and thou didest looke in that day to the armour of the house of the forest.
וַ/יְגַ֕ל אֵ֖ת מָסַ֣ךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה וַ/תַּבֵּט֙ בַּ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/ה֔וּא אֶל נֶ֖שֶׁק בֵּ֥ית הַ/יָּֽעַר
Ye haue seene also the breaches of the citie of Dauid, that they are many: and ye gathered together the waters of the lower poole.
GenevaAnd ye haue seene the breaches of the citie of Dauid: for they were many, and ye gathered the waters of the lower poole.
וְ/אֵ֨ת בְּקִיעֵ֧י עִיר דָּוִ֛ד רְאִיתֶ֖ם כִּי רָ֑בּוּ וַֽ/תְּקַבְּצ֔וּ אֶת מֵ֥י הַ/בְּרֵכָ֖ה הַ/תַּחְתּוֹנָֽה
And ye haue numbred the houses of Ierusalem, and the houses haue yee broken downe to fortifie the wall.

וְ/אֶת בָּתֵּ֥י יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם סְפַרְתֶּ֑ם וַ/תִּתְֿצוּ֙ הַ/בָּ֣תִּ֔ים לְ/בַצֵּ֖ר הַ/חוֹמָֽה
Ye made also a ditch betweene the two walles, for the water of the olde poole: but ye haue not looked vnto the maker thereof, neither had respect vnto him that fashioned it long agoe.

וּ/מִקְוָ֣ה עֲשִׂיתֶ֗ם בֵּ֚ין הַ/חֹ֣מֹתַ֔יִם לְ/מֵ֖י הַ/בְּרֵכָ֣ה הַ/יְשָׁנָ֑ה וְ/לֹ֤א הִבַּטְתֶּם֙ אֶל עֹשֶׂ֔י/הָ וְ/יֹצְרָ֥/הּ מֵֽ/רָח֖וֹק לֹ֥א רְאִיתֶֽם
And in that day did the Lord GOD of hostes call to weeping and to mourning, and to baldnesse, and to girding with sackecloth.
GenevaAnd in that day did the Lord God of hosts call vnto weeping and mourning, and to baldnes and girding with sackecloth.
וַ/יִּקְרָ֗א אֲדֹנָ֧/י יְהוִ֛ה צְבָא֖וֹת בַּ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/ה֑וּא לִ/בְכִי֙ וּ/לְ/מִסְפֵּ֔ד וּ/לְ/קָרְחָ֖ה וְ/לַ/חֲגֹ֥ר שָֽׂק
And behold ioy and gladnesse, slaying oxen and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine; let vs eate and drinke, for to morrow we shall die.
GenevaAnd beholde, ioy and gladnes, slaying oxen and killing sheepe, eating flesh, and drinking wine, eating and drinking: for to morowe we shall die.
וְ/הִנֵּ֣ה שָׂשׂ֣וֹן וְ/שִׂמְחָ֗ה הָרֹ֤ג בָּקָר֙ וְ/שָׁחֹ֣ט צֹ֔אן אָכֹ֥ל בָּשָׂ֖ר וְ/שָׁת֣וֹת יָ֑יִן אָכ֣וֹל וְ/שָׁת֔וֹ כִּ֥י מָחָ֖ר נָמֽוּת
And it was reuealed in mine eares by the LORD of hostes; surely this iniquitie shall not be purged from you, till yee die, sayth the Lord GOD of hostes.
GenevaAnd it was declared in ye eares of the Lord of hostes. Surely this iniquitie shall not be purged from you, til ye die, saith the Lord God of hostes.
וְ/נִגְלָ֥ה בְ/אָזְנָ֖/י יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת אִם יְ֠כֻפַּר הֶ/עָוֺ֨ן הַ/זֶּ֤ה לָ/כֶם֙ עַד תְּמֻת֔וּ/ן אָמַ֛ר אֲדֹנָ֥/י יְהוִ֖ה צְבָאֽוֹת
¶ Thus sayth the Lord GOD of hostes, Goe, get thee vnto this treasurer, euen vnto Shebna, which is ouer the house, and say;
GenevaThus sayeth the Lord God of hostes, Goe, get thee to that treasurer, to Shebna, the steward of the house, and say,
כֹּ֥ה אָמַ֛ר אֲדֹנָ֥/י יְהוִ֖ה צְבָא֑וֹת לֶךְ בֹּא֙ אֶל הַ/סֹּכֵ֣ן הַ/זֶּ֔ה עַל שֶׁבְנָ֖א אֲשֶׁ֥ר עַל הַ/בָּֽיִת
What hast thou here? And whom hast thou here, that thou hast hewed thee out a sepulchre here, as hee that heweth him out a sepulchre on high, and that graueth an habitation for himselfe in a rocke?
GenevaWhat haste thou to doe here? and whome hast thou here? that thou shouldest here hewe thee out a sepulchre, as he that heweth out his sepulchre in an hie place, or that graueth an habitation for him selfe in a rocke?
מַה לְּ/ךָ֥ פֹה֙ וּ/מִ֣י לְ/ךָ֣ פֹ֔ה כִּֽי חָצַ֧בְתָּ לְּ/ךָ֛ פֹּ֖ה קָ֑בֶר חֹצְבִ֤י מָרוֹם֙ קִבְר֔/וֹ חֹקְקִ֥י בַ/סֶּ֖לַע מִשְׁכָּ֥ן לֽ/וֹ
Behold; the LORD will cary thee away with a mightie captiuitie, and will surely couer thee.
GenevaBeholde, the Lord wil carie thee away with a great captiuitie, and will surely couer thee.
הִנֵּ֤ה יְהוָה֙ מְטַלְטֶלְ/ךָ֔ טַלְטֵלָ֖ה גָּ֑בֶר וְ/עֹטְ/ךָ֖ עָטֹֽה
He will surely violently turne and tosse thee, like a ball into a large countrey: there shalt thou die, and there the charets of thy glory shall be the shame of thy Lords house.
GenevaHe wil surely rolle and turne thee like a bal in a large countrey: there shalt thou die, and there the charets of thy glory shalbe the shame of thy lordes house.
צָנ֤וֹף יִצְנָפְ/ךָ֙ צְנֵפָ֔ה כַּדּ֕וּר אֶל אֶ֖רֶץ רַחֲבַ֣ת יָדָ֑יִם שָׁ֣מָּ/ה תָמ֗וּת וְ/שָׁ֨מָּ/ה֙ מַרְכְּב֣וֹת כְּבוֹדֶ֔/ךָ קְל֖וֹן בֵּ֥ית אֲדֹנֶֽי/ךָ
And I will driue thee from thy station, and from thy state shall he pull thee downe.
GenevaAnd I wil driue thee from thy station, and out of thy dwelling will he destroy thee.
וַ/הֲדַפְתִּ֖י/ךָ מִ/מַּצָּבֶ֑/ךָ וּ/מִ/מַּעֲמָֽדְ/ךָ֖ יֶהֶרְסֶֽ/ךָ
¶ And it shall come to passe in that day, that I will call my seruant Eliakim the sonne of Hilkiah:
GenevaAnd in that day will I call my seruant Eliakim the sonne of Hilkiah,
וְ/הָיָ֖ה בַּ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/ה֑וּא וְ/קָרָ֣אתִי לְ/עַבְדִּ֔/י לְ/אֶלְיָקִ֖ים בֶּן חִלְקִיָּֽהוּ
And I will clothe him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I wil commit thy gouernment into his hand, and he shalbe a father to the inhabitants of Ierusalem, and to the house of Iudah.
GenevaAnd with thy garments will I clothe him, and with thy girdle will I strengthen him: thy power also will I commit into his hande, and hee shalbe a father of the inhabitats of Ierusalem, and of the house of Iudah.
וְ/הִלְבַּשְׁתִּ֣י/ו כֻּתָּנְתֶּ֗/ךָ וְ/אַבְנֵֽטְ/ךָ֙ אֲחַזְּקֶ֔/נּוּ וּ/מֶֽמְשֶׁלְתְּ/ךָ֖ אֶתֵּ֣ן בְּ/יָד֑/וֹ וְ/הָיָ֥ה לְ/אָ֛ב לְ/יוֹשֵׁ֥ב יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם וּ/לְ/בֵ֥ית יְהוּדָֽה
And the key of the house of Dauid will I lay vpon his shoulder: so he shall open and none shall shut, and he shall shut and none shall open.
GenevaAnd the key of the house of Dauid will I lay vpon his shoulder: so hee shall open, and no man shall shut: and he shall shut, and no man shall open.
וְ/נָתַתִּ֛י מַפְתֵּ֥חַ בֵּית דָּוִ֖ד עַל שִׁכְמ֑/וֹ וּ/פָתַח֙ וְ/אֵ֣ין סֹגֵ֔ר וְ/סָגַ֖ר וְ/אֵ֥ין פֹּתֵֽחַ
And I will fasten him as a naile in asure place, and he shalbe for a glorious throne to his fathers house.
GenevaAnd I will fasten him as a naile in a sure place, and hee shall be for the throne of glorie to his fathers house.
וּ/תְקַעְתִּ֥י/ו יָתֵ֖ד בְּ/מָק֣וֹם נֶאֱמָ֑ן וְ/הָיָ֛ה לְ/כִסֵּ֥א כָב֖וֹד לְ/בֵ֥ית אָבִֽי/ו
And they shall hang vpon him all the glory of his fathers house, the offspring and the issue, all vessels of small quantitie: from the vessels of cups, euen to all the vessels of flagons.
GenevaAnd they shall hang vpon him all the glorie of his fathers house, euen of the nephewes and posteritie all small vessels, from the vessels of the cuppes, euen to all the instruments of musike.
וְ/תָל֨וּ עָלָ֜י/ו כֹּ֣ל כְּב֣וֹד בֵּית אָבִ֗י/ו הַ/צֶּֽאֱצָאִים֙ וְ/הַ/צְּפִע֔וֹת כֹּ֖ל כְּלֵ֣י הַ/קָּטָ֑ן מִ/כְּלֵי֙ הָֽ/אַגָּנ֔וֹת וְ/עַ֖ד כָּל כְּלֵ֥י הַ/נְּבָלִֽים
In that day, sayth the LORD of hostes, shall the naile that is fastened in the sure place, be remooued, and be cut downe and fall: and the burden that was vpon it shall bee cut off: for the LORD hath spoken it.
GenevaIn that day, sayeth the Lord of hostes, shall the naile, that is fastned in the sure place, depart and shall be broken, and fall: and the burden, that was vpon it, shall bee cut off: for the Lord hath spoken it.
בַּ/יּ֣וֹם הַ/ה֗וּא נְאֻם֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת תָּמוּשׁ֙ הַ/יָּתֵ֔ד הַ/תְּקוּעָ֖ה בְּ/מָק֣וֹם נֶאֱמָ֑ן וְ/נִגְדְּעָ֣ה וְ/נָפְלָ֗ה וְ/נִכְרַת֙ הַ/מַּשָּׂ֣א אֲשֶׁר עָלֶ֔י/הָ כִּ֥י יְהוָ֖ה דִּבֵּֽר
