Job 26

But Iob answered and sayd,

וַ/יַּ֥עַן אִיּ֗וֹב וַ/יֹּאמַֽר

Howe hast thou helped him that is without power? how sauest thou the arme that hath no strength?

GenevaWhom helpest thou? him that hath no power? sauest thou the arme that hath no strength?

מֶה עָזַ֥רְתָּ לְ/לֹא כֹ֑חַ ה֝וֹשַׁ֗עְתָּ זְר֣וֹעַ לֹא עֹֽז

How hast thou counselled him that hath no wisedome? and how hast thou plentifully declared the thing, as it is?

GenevaWhome counsellest thou? him that hath no wisedome? thou shewest right well as the thing is.

מַה יָּ֭עַצְתָּ לְ/לֹ֣א חָכְמָ֑ה וְ֝/תוּשִׁיָּ֗ה לָ/רֹ֥ב הוֹדָֽעְתָּ

To whom hast thou vttered words? and whose spirit came from thee?

GenevaTo whom doest thou declare these words? or whose spirit commeth out of thee?

אֶת מִ֭י הִגַּ֣דְתָּ מִלִּ֑ין וְ/נִשְׁמַת מִ֝י יָצְאָ֥ה מִמֶּֽ/ךָּ

Dead things are formed from vnder the waters, and the inhabitants thereof.

הָ/רְפָאִ֥ים יְחוֹלָ֑לוּ מִ/תַּ֥חַת מַ֝֗יִם וְ/שֹׁכְנֵי/הֶֽם

Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no couering.

GenevaThe graue is naked before him, and there is no couering for destruction.

עָר֣וֹם שְׁא֣וֹל נֶגְדּ֑/וֹ וְ/אֵ֥ין כְּ֝ס֗וּת לָֽ/אֲבַדּֽוֹן

He stretcheth out the North ouer the emptie place, and hangeth the earth vpon nothing.

נֹטֶ֣ה צָפ֣וֹן עַל תֹּ֑הוּ תֹּ֥לֶה אֶ֝֗רֶץ עַל בְּלִי מָֽה

Hee bindeth vp the waters in his thicke clouds, and the cloud is not rent vnder them.

צֹרֵֽר מַ֥יִם בְּ/עָבָ֑י/ו וְ/לֹא נִבְקַ֖ע עָנָ֣ן תַּחְתָּֽ/ם

Hee holdeth backe the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud vpon it.

מְאַחֵ֥ז פְּנֵי כִסֵּ֑ה פַּרְשֵׁ֖ז עָלָ֣י/ו עֲנָנֽ/וֹ

Hee hath compassed the waters with bounds, vntill the day and night come to an end.

GenevaHe hath set bounds about the waters, vntil the day and night come to an ende.

חֹֽק חָ֭ג עַל פְּנֵי מָ֑יִם עַד תַּכְלִ֖ית א֣וֹר עִם חֹֽשֶׁךְ

The pillars of heauen tremble, and are astonished at his reproofe.

GenevaThe pillars of heauen tremble and quake at his reproofe.

עַמּוּדֵ֣י שָׁמַ֣יִם יְרוֹפָ֑פוּ וְ֝/יִתְמְה֗וּ מִ/גַּעֲרָתֽ/וֹ

Hee diuideth the sea with his power, and by his vnderstanding he smiteth through the proud.

GenevaThe sea is calme by his power, and by his vnderstanding he smiteth the pride thereof.

בְּ֭/כֹח/וֹ רָגַ֣ע הַ/יָּ֑ם ו/ב/תובנת/ו מָ֣חַץ רָֽהַב

By his spirit he hath garnished the heauens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.

בְּ֭/רוּח/וֹ שָׁמַ֣יִם שִׁפְרָ֑ה חֹֽלֲלָ֥ה יָ֝ד֗/וֹ נָחָ֥שׁ בָּרִֽיחַ

Loe, these are parts of his waies, but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can vnderstand?

GenevaLoe, these are part of his wayes: but how litle a portion heare we of him? and who can vnderstand his fearefull power?

הֶן אֵ֤לֶּה קְצ֬וֹת דרכ/ו וּ/מַה שֵּׁ֣מֶץ דָּ֭בָר נִשְׁמַע בּ֑/וֹ וְ/רַ֥עַם גבורת/ו מִ֣י יִתְבּוֹנָֽן
