Judges 11
Now Iephthah the Gileadite was a mightie man of valour, and he was the sonne of an harlot: and Gilead begate Iephthah.
GenevaThen Gilead begate Iphtah, and Iphtah the Gileadite was a valiant man, but the sonne of an harlot.
וְ/יִפְתָּ֣ח הַ/גִּלְעָדִ֗י הָיָה֙ גִּבּ֣וֹר חַ֔יִל וְ/ה֖וּא בֶּן אִשָּׁ֣ה זוֹנָ֑ה וַ/יּ֥וֹלֶד גִּלְעָ֖ד אֶת יִפְתָּֽח
And Gileads wife bare him sonnes, and his wiues sonnes grew vp, and they thrust out Iephthah, and said vnto him, Thou shalt not inherite in our fathers house, for thou art the son of a strange woman.
GenevaAnd Gileads wife bare him sonnes, and when the womans children were come to age, they thrust out Iphtah, and sayd vnto him, Thou shalt not inherite in our fathers house: for thou art the sonne of a strange woman.
וַ/תֵּ֧לֶד אֵֽשֶׁת גִּלְעָ֛ד ל֖/וֹ בָּנִ֑ים וַ/יִּגְדְּל֨וּ בְֽנֵי הָ/אִשָּׁ֜ה וַ/יְגָרְשׁ֣וּ אֶת יִפְתָּ֗ח וַ/יֹּ֤אמְרוּ ל/וֹ֙ לֹֽא תִנְחַ֣ל בְּ/בֵית אָבִ֔י/נוּ כִּ֛י בֶּן אִשָּׁ֥ה אַחֶ֖רֶת אָֽתָּה
Then Iephthah fled from his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tob: and there were gathered vaine men to Iephthah, and went out with him.
GenevaThen Iphtah fledde from his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tob: and there gathered idle fellowes to Iphtah, and went out with him.
וַ/יִּבְרַ֤ח יִפְתָּח֙ מִ/פְּנֵ֣י אֶחָ֔י/ו וַ/יֵּ֖שֶׁב בְּ/אֶ֣רֶץ ט֑וֹב וַ/יִּֽתְלַקְּט֤וּ אֶל יִפְתָּח֙ אֲנָשִׁ֣ים רֵיקִ֔ים וַ/יֵּצְא֖וּ עִמּֽ/וֹ
¶ And it came to passe, in processe of time, that the children of Ammon made warre against Israel.
GenevaAnd in processe of time the children of Ammon made warre with Israel.
וַ/יְהִ֖י מִ/יָּמִ֑ים וַ/יִּלָּחֲמ֥וּ בְנֵֽי עַמּ֖וֹן עִם יִשְׂרָאֵֽל
And it was so, that when the children of Ammon made war against Israel, the Elders of Gilead went to fetch Iephthah out of the land of Tob,
GenevaAnd when the children of Ammon fought with Israel, the Elders of Gilead went to fet Iphtah out of the land of Tob.
וַ/יְהִ֕י כַּ/אֲשֶׁר נִלְחֲמ֥וּ בְנֵֽי עַמּ֖וֹן עִם יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַ/יֵּֽלְכוּ֙ זִקְנֵ֣י גִלְעָ֔ד לָ/קַ֥חַת אֶת יִפְתָּ֖ח מֵ/אֶ֥רֶץ טֽוֹב
And they said vnto Iephthah, Come and bee our Captaine, that wee may fight with the children of Ammon.
GenevaAnd they saide vnto Iphtah, Come and be our captaine, that we may fight with the children of Ammon.
וַ/יֹּאמְר֣וּ לְ/יִפְתָּ֔ח לְכָ֕/ה וְ/הָיִ֥יתָה לָּ֖/נוּ לְ/קָצִ֑ין וְ/נִֽלָּחֲמָ֖ה בִּ/בְנֵ֥י עַמּֽוֹן
And Iephthah said vnto the Elders of Gilead, Did not ye hate me, and expell me out of my fathers house? And why are ye come vnto mee now when ye are in distresse?
GenevaIphtah then answered the Elders of Gilead, Did not ye hate me, and expell me out of my fathers house? how then come you vnto me now in time of your tribulation?
וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר יִפְתָּח֙ לְ/זִקְנֵ֣י גִלְעָ֔ד הֲ/לֹ֤א אַתֶּם֙ שְׂנֵאתֶ֣ם אוֹתִ֔/י וַ/תְּגָרְשׁ֖וּ/נִי מִ/בֵּ֣ית אָבִ֑/י וּ/מַדּ֜וּעַ בָּאתֶ֤ם אֵלַ/י֙ עַ֔תָּה כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֖ר צַ֥ר לָ/כֶֽם
And the Elders of Gilead said vnto Iephthah, Therefore we turne againe to thee now, that thou mayest go with vs, and fight against the children of Ammon, and bee our head ouer all the inhabitants of Gilead.
GenevaThen the Elders of Gilead saide vnto Iphtah, Therefore we turne againe to thee now, that thou mayest goe with vs, and fight against the children of Ammon, and bee our head ouer all the inhabitants of Gilead.
וַ/יֹּאמְרוּ֩ זִקְנֵ֨י גִלְעָ֜ד אֶל יִפְתָּ֗ח לָ/כֵן֙ עַתָּה֙ שַׁ֣בְנוּ אֵלֶ֔י/ךָ וְ/הָלַכְתָּ֣ עִמָּ֔/נוּ וְ/נִלְחַמְתָּ֖ בִּ/בְנֵ֣י עַמּ֑וֹן וְ/הָיִ֤יתָ לָּ֨/נוּ֙ לְ/רֹ֔אשׁ לְ/כֹ֖ל יֹשְׁבֵ֥י גִלְעָֽד
And Iephthah said vnto the Elders of Gilead, If ye bring me home againe to fight against the children of Ammon, and the LORD deliuer them before me; shall I be your Head?
GenevaAnd Iphtah said vnto the Elders of Gilead, If ye bring me home againe to fight against the children of Ammon, if the Lord giue them before me, shall I be your head?
וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר יִפְתָּ֜ח אֶל זִקְנֵ֣י גִלְעָ֗ד אִם מְשִׁיבִ֨ים אַתֶּ֤ם אוֹתִ/י֙ לְ/הִלָּחֵם֙ בִּ/בְנֵ֣י עַמּ֔וֹן וְ/נָתַ֧ן יְהוָ֛ה אוֹתָ֖/ם לְ/פָנָ֑/י אָנֹכִ֕י אֶהְיֶ֥ה לָ/כֶ֖ם לְ/רֹֽאשׁ
And the Elders of Gilead said vnto Iephthah, The LORD be witnes betweene vs, if we doe not so according to thy words.
GenevaAnd the Elders of Gilead saide to Iphtah, The Lord be witnesse betweene vs, if we doe not according to thy wordes.
וַ/יֹּאמְר֥וּ זִקְנֵֽי גִלְעָ֖ד אֶל יִפְתָּ֑ח יְהוָ֗ה יִהְיֶ֤ה שֹׁמֵ֨עַ֙ בֵּֽינוֹתֵ֔י/נוּ אִם לֹ֥א כִ/דְבָרְ/ךָ֖ כֵּ֥ן נַעֲשֶֽׂה
Then Iephthah went with the Elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and captaine ouer them: and Iephthah vttered all his words before the LORD in Mizpeh.
GenevaThen Iphtah went with the Elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and captaine ouer them: and Iphtah rehearsed all his wordes before the Lord in Mizpeh.
וַ/יֵּ֤לֶךְ יִפְתָּח֙ עִם זִקְנֵ֣י גִלְעָ֔ד וַ/יָּשִׂ֨ימוּ הָ/עָ֥ם אוֹת֛/וֹ עֲלֵי/הֶ֖ם לְ/רֹ֣אשׁ וּ/לְ/קָצִ֑ין וַ/יְדַבֵּ֨ר יִפְתָּ֧ח אֶת כָּל דְּבָרָ֛י/ו לִ/פְנֵ֥י יְהוָ֖ה בַּ/מִּצְפָּֽה
¶ And Iephthah sent messengers vnto the king of the children of Ammon, saying, What hast thou to do with me, that thou art come against mee to fight in my land?
GenevaThen Iphtah sent messengers vnto the king of the children of Ammon, saying, What hast thou to doe with me, that thou art come against me, to fight in my lande?
וַ/יִּשְׁלַ֤ח יִפְתָּח֙ מַלְאָכִ֔ים אֶל מֶ֥לֶךְ בְּנֵֽי עַמּ֖וֹן לֵ/אמֹ֑ר מַה לִּ֣/י וָ/לָ֔/ךְ כִּֽי בָ֥אתָ אֵלַ֖/י לְ/הִלָּחֵ֥ם בְּ/אַרְצִֽ/י
And the king of the children of Ammon answered vnto the messengers of Iephthah; Because Israel tooke away my land when they came vp out of Egypt, from Arnon euen vnto Iabbok, and vnto Iordan: now therfore restore those lands againe peaceably.
GenevaAnd the King of the children of Ammon answered vnto the messengers of Iphtah, Because Israel tooke my lande, when they came vp from Egypt, from Arnon vnto Iabbok, and vnto Iorden: now therefore restore those lands quietly.
וַ/יֹּאמֶר֩ מֶ֨לֶךְ בְּנֵי עַמּ֜וֹן אֶל מַלְאֲכֵ֣י יִפְתָּ֗ח כִּֽי לָקַ֨ח יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל אֶת אַרְצִ/י֙ בַּ/עֲלוֹת֣/וֹ מִ/מִּצְרַ֔יִם מֵ/אַרְנ֥וֹן וְ/עַד הַ/יַּבֹּ֖ק וְ/עַד הַ/יַּרְדֵּ֑ן וְ/עַתָּ֕ה הָשִׁ֥יבָ/ה אֶתְ/הֶ֖ן בְּ/שָׁלֽוֹם
And Iephthah sent messengers againe vnto the king of the children of Ammon:
GenevaYet Iphtah sent messengers againe vnto the King of the children of Ammon,
וַ/יּ֥וֹסֶף ע֖וֹד יִפְתָּ֑ח וַ/יִּשְׁלַח֙ מַלְאָכִ֔ים אֶל מֶ֖לֶךְ בְּנֵ֥י עַמּֽוֹן
And said vnto him, Thus saith Iephthah; Israel tooke not away the land of Moab, nor the land of the children of Ammon:
GenevaAnd said vnto him, Thus saith Iphtah, Israel tooke not the lande of Moab, nor the lande of the children of Ammon.
וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר ל֔/וֹ כֹּ֖ה אָמַ֣ר יִפְתָּ֑ח לֹֽא לָקַ֤ח יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אֶת אֶ֣רֶץ מוֹאָ֔ב וְ/אֶת אֶ֖רֶץ בְּנֵ֥י עַמּֽוֹן
But when Israel came vp from Egypt, and walked through the wildernesse, vnto the red sea, and came to Kadesh;
GenevaBut when Israel came vp from Egypt, and walked through the wildernesse vnto the redde Sea, then they came to Kadesh.
כִּ֖י בַּ/עֲלוֹתָ֣/ם מִ/מִּצְרָ֑יִם וַ/יֵּ֨לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל בַּ/מִּדְבָּר֙ עַד יַם ס֔וּף וַ/יָּבֹ֖א קָדֵֽשָׁ/ה
Then Israel sent messengers vnto the king of Edom saying, Let me, I pray thee, passe through thy land. But the king of Edom would not hearken thereto: And in like maner they sent vnto the king of Moab: but hee would not consent: & Israel abode in Kadesh.
GenevaAnd Israel sent messengers vnto the king of Edom, saying, Let me, I pray thee, goe thorowe thy lande: but the King of Edom woulde not consent: and also they sent vnto the King of Moab, but he would not: therefore Israel abode in Kadesh.
וַ/יִּשְׁלַ֣ח יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל מַלְאָכִ֣ים אֶל מֶלֶךְ֩ אֱד֨וֹם לֵ/אמֹ֜ר אֶעְבְּרָה נָּ֣א בְ/אַרְצֶ֗/ךָ וְ/לֹ֤א שָׁמַע֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ אֱד֔וֹם וְ/גַ֨ם אֶל מֶ֧לֶךְ מוֹאָ֛ב שָׁלַ֖ח וְ/לֹ֣א אָבָ֑ה וַ/יֵּ֥שֶׁב יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בְּ/קָדֵֽשׁ
Then they went along through the wildernes, and compassed the land of Edom, and the land of Moab, and came by the Eastside of the land of Moab, and pitched on the other side of Arnon, but came not within the border of Moab: for Arnon was the border of Moab.

וַ/יֵּ֣לֶךְ בַּ/מִּדְבָּ֗ר וַ/יָּ֜סָב אֶת אֶ֤רֶץ אֱדוֹם֙ וְ/אֶת אֶ֣רֶץ מוֹאָ֔ב וַ/יָּבֹ֤א מִ/מִּזְרַח שֶׁ֨מֶשׁ֙ לְ/אֶ֣רֶץ מוֹאָ֔ב וַֽ/יַּחֲנ֖וּ/ן בְּ/עֵ֣בֶר אַרְנ֑וֹן וְ/לֹא בָ֨אוּ֙ בִּ/גְב֣וּל מוֹאָ֔ב כִּ֥י אַרְנ֖וֹן גְּב֥וּל מוֹאָֽב
And Israel sent messengers vnto Sihon king of the Amorites, the king of Heshbon, and Israel said vnto him, Let vs passe, we pray thee, thorow thy land, vnto my place.
GenevaAlso Israel sent messengers vnto Sihon, King of the Amorites, the King of Heshbon, and Israel said vnto him, Let vs passe, we pray thee, by thy lande vnto our place.
וַ/יִּשְׁלַ֤ח יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ מַלְאָכִ֔ים אֶל סִיח֥וֹן מֶֽלֶךְ הָ/אֱמֹרִ֖י מֶ֣לֶךְ חֶשְׁבּ֑וֹן וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר ל/וֹ֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל נַעְבְּרָה נָּ֥א בְ/אַרְצְ/ךָ֖ עַד מְקוֹמִֽ/י
But Sihon trusted not Israel, to passe through his coast: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and pitched in Iahaz, and fought against Israel.

וְ/לֹא הֶאֱמִ֨ין סִיח֤וֹן אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ עֲבֹ֣ר בִּ/גְבֻל֔/וֹ וַ/יֶּאֱסֹ֤ף סִיחוֹן֙ אֶת כָּל עַמּ֔/וֹ וַֽ/יַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּ/יָ֑הְצָ/ה וַ/יִּלָּ֖חֶם עִם יִשְׂרָאֵֽל
And the LORD God of Israel deliuered Sihon and all his people into the hand of Israel, and they smote them: so Israel possessed all the land of the Amorites, the inhabitants of that countrey.
GenevaAnd the Lord God of Israel gaue Sihon and all his folke into the handes of Israel, and they smote them: so Israel possessed all the lande of the Amorites, the inhabitants of that countrey:
וַ֠/יִּתֵּן יְהוָ֨ה אֱלֹהֵֽי יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל אֶת סִיח֧וֹן וְ/אֶת כָּל עַמּ֛/וֹ בְּ/יַ֥ד יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל וַ/יַּכּ֑וּ/ם וַ/יִּירַשׁ֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֵ֚ת כָּל אֶ֣רֶץ הָ/אֱמֹרִ֔י יוֹשֵׁ֖ב הָ/אָ֥רֶץ הַ/הִֽיא
And they possessed all the coasts of the Amorites, from Arnon euen vnto Iabbok, and from the wildernesse euen vnto Iordan.

וַ/יִּ֣ירְשׁ֔וּ אֵ֖ת כָּל גְּב֣וּל הָ/אֱמֹרִ֑י מֵֽ/אַרְנוֹן֙ וְ/עַד הַ/יַּבֹּ֔ק וּ/מִן הַ/מִּדְבָּ֖ר וְ/עַד הַ/יַּרְדֵּֽן
So nowe the LORD God of Israel hath dispossessed the Amorites from before his people Israel, and shouldest thou possesse it?
GenevaNowe therefore the Lord God of Israel hath cast out the Amorites before his people Israel, and shouldest thou possesse it?
וְ/עַתָּ֞ה יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל הוֹרִישׁ֙ אֶת הָ֣/אֱמֹרִ֔י מִ/פְּנֵ֖י עַמּ֣/וֹ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְ/אַתָּ֖ה תִּירָשֶֽׁ/נּוּ
Wilt not thou possesse that which Chemosh thy god giueth thee to possesse? so whomsoeuer the LORD our God shal driue out from before vs, them will we possesse.
GenevaWouldest not thou possesse that which Chemosh thy god giueth thee to possesse? So whomesoeuer the Lord our God driueth out before vs, them will we possesse.
הֲ/לֹ֞א אֵ֣ת אֲשֶׁ֧ר יוֹרִֽישְׁ/ךָ֛ כְּמ֥וֹשׁ אֱלֹהֶ֖י/ךָ אוֹת֥/וֹ תִירָ֑שׁ וְ/אֵת֩ כָּל אֲשֶׁ֨ר הוֹרִ֜ישׁ יְהוָ֧ה אֱלֹהֵ֛י/נוּ מִ/פָּנֵ֖י/נוּ אוֹת֥/וֹ נִירָֽשׁ
And now, art thou any thing better then Balak the sonne of Zippor king of Moab? Did hee euer striue against Israel, or did hee euer fight against them,
GenevaAnd art thou nowe farre better then Balak the sonne of Zippor King of Moab? did he not striue with Israel and fight against them,
וְ/עַתָּ֗ה הֲ/ט֥וֹב טוֹב֙ אַתָּ֔ה מִ/בָּלָ֥ק בֶּן צִפּ֖וֹר מֶ֣לֶךְ מוֹאָ֑ב הֲ/ר֥וֹב רָב֙ עִם יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אִם נִלְחֹ֥ם נִלְחַ֖ם בָּֽ/ם
While Israel dwelt in Heshbon, and her townes, and in Aroer, and her townes, and in all the cities that bee along by the coasts of Arnon, three hundred yeeres? Why therefore did yee not recouer them within that time?

בְּ/שֶׁ֣בֶת יִ֠שְׂרָאֵל בְּ/חֶשְׁבּ֨וֹן וּ/בִ/בְנוֹתֶ֜י/הָ וּ/בְ/עַרְע֣וֹר וּ/בִ/בְנוֹתֶ֗י/הָ וּ/בְ/כָל הֶֽ/עָרִים֙ אֲשֶׁר֙ עַל יְדֵ֣י אַרְנ֔וֹן שְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וּ/מַדּ֥וּעַ לֹֽא הִצַּלְתֶּ֖ם בָּ/עֵ֥ת הַ/הִֽיא
Wherefore, I haue not sinned against thee, but thou doest me wrong to warre against mee: the LORD the Iudge, bee Iudge this day betweene the children of Israel, and the children of Ammon.
GenevaWherefore, I haue not offended thee: but thou doest me wrong to warre against me. The Lord the Iudge be iudge this day betweene the children of Israel, and the children of Ammon.
וְ/אָֽנֹכִי֙ לֹֽא חָטָ֣אתִי לָ֔/ךְ וְ/אַתָּ֞ה עֹשֶׂ֥ה אִתִּ֛/י רָעָ֖ה לְ/הִלָּ֣חֶם בִּ֑/י יִשְׁפֹּ֨ט יְהוָ֤ה הַ/שֹּׁפֵט֙ הַ/יּ֔וֹם בֵּ֚ין בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וּ/בֵ֖ין בְּנֵ֥י עַמּֽוֹן
Howbeit, the king of the children of Ammon hearkened not vnto the words of Iephthah which hee sent him.
GenevaHowbeit the King of the children of Ammon hearkened not vnto the wordes of Iphtah, which he had sent him.
וְ/לֹ֣א שָׁמַ֔ע מֶ֖לֶךְ בְּנֵ֣י עַמּ֑וֹן אֶל דִּבְרֵ֣י יִפְתָּ֔ח אֲשֶׁ֥ר שָׁלַ֖ח אֵלָֽי/ו
¶ Then the Spirit of the LORD came vpon Iephthah, and he passed ouer Gilead and Manasseh, and passed ouer Mizpeh of Gilead, and from Mizpeh of Gilead hee passed ouer vnto the children of Ammon.
GenevaThen the Spirite of the Lord came vpon Iphtah, and he passed ouer to Gilead and to Manasseh, and came to Mizpeh in Gilead, and from Mizpeh in Gilead he went vnto the children of Ammon.
וַ/תְּהִ֤י עַל יִפְתָּח֙ ר֣וּחַ יְהוָ֔ה וַ/יַּעֲבֹ֥ר אֶת הַ/גִּלְעָ֖ד וְ/אֶת מְנַשֶּׁ֑ה וַֽ/יַּעֲבֹר֙ אֶת מִצְפֵּ֣ה גִלְעָ֔ד וּ/מִ/מִּצְפֵּ֣ה גִלְעָ֔ד עָבַ֖ר בְּנֵ֥י עַמּֽוֹן
And Iephthah vowed a vowe vnto the LORD, and said, If thou shalt without faile deliuer the children of Ammon into mine hands,
GenevaAnd Iphtah vowed a vowe vnto the Lord, and said, If thou shalt deliuer the children of Ammon into mine handes,
וַ/יִּדַּ֨ר יִפְתָּ֥ח נֶ֛דֶר לַ/יהוָ֖ה וַ/יֹּאמַ֑ר אִם נָת֥וֹן תִּתֵּ֛ן אֶת בְּנֵ֥י עַמּ֖וֹן בְּ/יָדִֽ/י
Then it shall be, that whatsoeuer commeth forth of the doores of my house to meete me, when I returne in peace from the children of Ammon, shall surely be the LORDs, and I will offer it vp for a burnt offering.
GenevaThen that thing that commeth out of the doores of mine house to meete me, when I come home in peace from the children of Ammon, shall be the Lordes, and I will offer it for a burnt offering.
וְ/הָיָ֣ה הַ/יּוֹצֵ֗א אֲשֶׁ֨ר יֵצֵ֜א מִ/דַּלְתֵ֤י בֵיתִ/י֙ לִ/קְרָאתִ֔/י בְּ/שׁוּבִ֥/י בְ/שָׁל֖וֹם מִ/בְּנֵ֣י עַמּ֑וֹן וְ/הָיָה֙ לַֽ/יהוָ֔ה וְ/הַעֲלִיתִ֖/הוּ עוֹלָֽה
¶ So Iephthah passed ouer vnto the children of Ammon to fight against them, and the LORD deliuered them into his hands.
GenevaAnd so Iphtah went vnto the children of Ammon to fight against them, and the Lord deliuered them into his handes.
וַ/יַּעֲבֹ֥ר יִפְתָּ֛ח אֶל בְּנֵ֥י עַמּ֖וֹן לְ/הִלָּ֣חֶם בָּ֑/ם וַ/יִתְּנֵ֥/ם יְהוָ֖ה בְּ/יָדֽ/וֹ
And he smote them from Aroer, euen till thou come to Minnith, euen twentie cities, and vnto the plaine of the vineyards, with a very great slaughter: thus the children of Ammon were subdued before the children of Israel.
GenevaAnd he smote them from Aroer euen till thou come to Minnith, twentie cities, and so foorth to Abel of the vineyardes, with an exceeding great slaughter. Thus the children of Ammon were humbled before the children of Israel.
וַ/יַּכֵּ֡/ם מֵ/עֲרוֹעֵר֩ וְ/עַד בּוֹאֲ/ךָ֨ מִנִּ֜ית עֶשְׂרִ֣ים עִ֗יר וְ/עַד֙ אָבֵ֣ל כְּרָמִ֔ים מַכָּ֖ה גְּדוֹלָ֣ה מְאֹ֑ד וַ/יִּכָּֽנְעוּ֙ בְּנֵ֣י עַמּ֔וֹן מִ/פְּנֵ֖י בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל
¶ And Iephthah came to Mizpeh vnto his house, and beholde, his daughter came out to meete him with timbrels and with dances, and she was his onely childe: beside her he had neither sonne nor daughter.

וַ/יָּבֹ֨א יִפְתָּ֣ח הַ/מִּצְפָּה֮ אֶל בֵּית/וֹ֒ וְ/הִנֵּ֤ה בִתּ/וֹ֙ יֹצֵ֣את לִ/קְרָאת֔/וֹ בְ/תֻפִּ֖ים וּ/בִ/מְחֹל֑וֹת וְ/רַק֙ הִ֣יא יְחִידָ֔ה אֵֽין ל֥/וֹ מִמֶּ֛/נּוּ בֵּ֖ן אוֹ בַֽת
And it came to passe when he saw her, that he rent his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter, thou hast brought me very low, and thou art one of them that trouble me: for I haue opened my mouth vnto the LORD, and I cannot goe backe.

וַ/יְהִי֩ כִ/רְאוֹת֨/וֹ אוֹתָ֜/הּ וַ/יִּקְרַ֣ע אֶת בְּגָדָ֗י/ו וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר֙ אֲהָ֤הּ בִּתִּ/י֙ הַכְרֵ֣עַ הִכְרַעְתִּ֔/נִי וְ/אַ֖תְּ הָיִ֣יתְ בְּ/עֹֽכְרָ֑/י וְ/אָנֹכִ֗י פָּצִ֤יתִי פִ/י֙ אֶל יְהוָ֔ה וְ/לֹ֥א אוּכַ֖ל לָ/שֽׁוּב
And she said vnto him, My father, if thou hast opened thy mouth vnto the LORD, doe to me according to that which hath proceeded out of thy mouth; forasmuch as the LORD hath taken vengeance for thee of thine enemies, euen of the children of Ammon.

וַ/תֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֗י/ו אָבִ/י֙ פָּצִ֤יתָה אֶת פִּ֨י/ךָ֙ אֶל יְהוָ֔ה עֲשֵׂ֣ה לִ֔/י כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֖ר יָצָ֣א מִ/פִּ֑י/ךָ אַחֲרֵ֡י אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂה֩ לְ/ךָ֙ יְהוָ֧ה נְקָמ֛וֹת מֵ/אֹיְבֶ֖י/ךָ מִ/בְּנֵ֥י עַמּֽוֹן
And she said vnto her father, Let this thing be done for me: Let me alone two moneths, that I may goe vp and downe vpon the mountaines, and bewaile my virginitie, I, and my fellowes.

וַ/תֹּ֨אמֶר֙ אֶל אָבִ֔י/הָ יֵעָ֥שֶׂה לִּ֖/י הַ/דָּבָ֣ר הַ/זֶּ֑ה הַרְפֵּ֨ה מִמֶּ֜/נִּי שְׁנַ֣יִם חֳדָשִׁ֗ים וְ/אֵֽלְכָה֙ וְ/יָרַדְתִּ֣י עַל הֶֽ/הָרִ֔ים וְ/אֶבְכֶּה֙ עַל בְּתוּלַ֔/י אָנֹכִ֖י ו/רעית/י
And he said, Goe. And he sent her away for two moneths, and shee went with her companions, and bewailed her virginitie vpon the mountaines.

וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר לֵ֔כִי וַ/יִּשְׁלַ֥ח אוֹתָ֖/הּ שְׁנֵ֣י חֳדָשִׁ֑ים וַ/תֵּ֤לֶךְ הִיא֙ וְ/רֵ֣עוֹתֶ֔י/הָ וַ/תֵּ֥בְךְּ עַל בְּתוּלֶ֖י/הָ עַל הֶ/הָרִֽים
And it came to passe at the ende of two moneths that shee returned vnto her father, who did with her according to his vow which he had vowed: and she knew no man: & it was a custome in Israel,

וַ/יְהִ֞י מִ/קֵּ֣ץ שְׁנַ֣יִם חֳדָשִׁ֗ים וַ/תָּ֨שָׁב֙ אֶל אָבִ֔י/הָ וַ/יַּ֣עַשׂ לָ֔/הּ אֶת נִדְר֖/וֹ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נָדָ֑ר וְ/הִיא֙ לֹא יָדְעָ֣ה אִ֔ישׁ וַ/תְּהִי חֹ֖ק בְּ/יִשְׂרָאֵֽל
That the daughters of Israel went yeerely to lament the daughter of Iephthah the Gileadite foure dayes in a yeere.
