Judges 12

And the men of Ephraim gathered themselues together, and went Northward, & said vnto Iephthah, Wherefore passedst thou ouer to fight against the children of Ammon, and didst not call vs to goe with thee? Wee will burne thine house vpon thee with fire.

GenevaAnd the me of Ephraim gathered themselues together, and went Northwarde, and saide vnto Iphtah, Wherefore wentest thou to fight against the children of Ammon, and diddest not call vs to goe with thee? we will therefore burne thine house vpon thee with fire.

וַ/יִּצָּעֵק֙ אִ֣ישׁ אֶפְרַ֔יִם וַֽ/יַּעֲבֹ֖ר צָפ֑וֹנָ/ה וַ/יֹּאמְר֨וּ לְ/יִפְתָּ֜ח מַדּ֣וּעַ עָבַ֣רְתָּ לְ/הִלָּחֵ֣ם בִּ/בְנֵי עַמּ֗וֹן וְ/לָ֨/נוּ֙ לֹ֤א קָרָ֨אתָ֙ לָ/לֶ֣כֶת עִמָּ֔/ךְ בֵּיתְ/ךָ֕ נִשְׂרֹ֥ף עָלֶ֖י/ךָ בָּ/אֵֽשׁ

And Iephthah saide vnto them, I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon: and when I called you, ye deliuered me not out of their hands.

וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר יִפְתָּח֙ אֲלֵי/הֶ֔ם אִ֣ישׁ רִ֗יב הָיִ֛יתִי אֲנִ֛י וְ/עַמִּ֥/י וּ/בְנֵֽי עַמּ֖וֹן מְאֹ֑ד וָ/אֶזְעַ֣ק אֶתְ/כֶ֔ם וְ/לֹֽא הוֹשַׁעְתֶּ֥ם אוֹתִ֖/י מִ/יָּדָֽ/ם

And when I sawe that ye deliuered me not, I put my life in my handes, and passed ouer against the children of Ammon, and the LORD deliuered them into my hand: Wherfore then are ye come vp vnto me this day, to fight against me?

GenevaSo when I sawe that ye deliuered me not, I put my life in mine hands, and went vpon the children of Ammon: so the Lord deliuered them into mine handes. Wherefore then are ye come vpon me nowe to fight against me?

וָֽ/אֶרְאֶ֞ה כִּֽי אֵינְ/ךָ֣ מוֹשִׁ֗יע וָ/אָשִׂ֨ימָ/ה נַפְשִׁ֤/י בְ/כַפִּ/י֙ וָֽ/אֶעְבְּרָ/ה֙ אֶל בְּנֵ֣י עַמּ֔וֹן וַ/יִּתְּנֵ֥/ם יְהוָ֖ה בְּ/יָדִ֑/י וְ/לָ/מָ֞ה עֲלִיתֶ֥ם אֵלַ֛/י הַ/יּ֥וֹם הַ/זֶּ֖ה לְ/הִלָּ֥חֶם בִּֽ/י

Then Iephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Yee Gileadites are fugitiues of Ephraim, among the Ephraimites and among the Manassites.

וַ/יִּקְבֹּ֤ץ יִפְתָּח֙ אֶת כָּל אַנְשֵׁ֣י גִלְעָ֔ד וַ/יִּלָּ֖חֶם אֶת אֶפְרָ֑יִם וַ/יַּכּוּ֩ אַנְשֵׁ֨י גִלְעָ֜ד אֶת אֶפְרַ֗יִם כִּ֤י אָמְרוּ֙ פְּלִיטֵ֤י אֶפְרַ֨יִם֙ אַתֶּ֔ם גִּלְעָ֕ד בְּ/ת֥וֹךְ אֶפְרַ֖יִם בְּ/ת֥וֹךְ מְנַשֶּֽׁה

And the Gileadites tooke the passages of Iordan before the Ephraimites: and it was so that when those Ephraimites which were escaped saide, Let me go ouer, that the men of Gilead said vnto him, Art thou an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay:

וַ/יִּלְכֹּ֥ד גִּלְעָ֛ד אֶֽת מַעְבְּר֥וֹת הַ/יַּרְדֵּ֖ן לְ/אֶפְרָ֑יִם וְֽ֠/הָיָה כִּ֣י יֹאמְר֞וּ פְּלִיטֵ֤י אֶפְרַ֨יִם֙ אֶעֱבֹ֔רָה וַ/יֹּ֨אמְרוּ ל֧/וֹ אַנְשֵֽׁי גִלְעָ֛ד הַֽ/אֶפְרָתִ֥י אַ֖תָּה וַ/יֹּ֥אמֶֽר לֹֽא

Then said they vnto him, Say now, Shibboleth: and he said, Sibboleth: for hee could not frame to pronounce it right. Then they tooke him, and slewe him at the passages of Iordan: and there fell at that time of the Ephraimites, fourtie & two thousand.

וַ/יֹּ֣אמְרוּ ל/וֹ֩ אֱמָר נָ֨א שִׁבֹּ֜לֶת וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר סִבֹּ֗לֶת וְ/לֹ֤א יָכִין֙ לְ/דַבֵּ֣ר כֵּ֔ן וַ/יֹּאחֲז֣וּ אוֹת֔/וֹ וַ/יִּשְׁחָט֖וּ/הוּ אֶל מַעְבְּר֣וֹת הַ/יַּרְדֵּ֑ן וַ/יִּפֹּ֞ל בָּ/עֵ֤ת הַ/הִיא֙ מֵֽ/אֶפְרַ֔יִם אַרְבָּעִ֥ים וּ/שְׁנַ֖יִם אָֽלֶף

And Iephthah iudged Israel sixe yeeres: then died Iephthah the Gileadite, and was buried in one of the cities of Gilead.

וַ/יִּשְׁפֹּ֥ט יִפְתָּ֛ח אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל שֵׁ֣שׁ שָׁנִ֑ים וַ/יָּ֗מָת יִפְתָּח֙ הַ/גִּלְעָדִ֔י וַ/יִּקָּבֵ֖ר בְּ/עָרֵ֥י גִלְעָֽד

¶ And after him Ibzan of Bethlehem iudged Israel.

וַ/יִּשְׁפֹּ֤ט אַֽחֲרָי/ו֙ אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אִבְצָ֖ן מִ/בֵּ֥ית לָֽחֶם

And hee had thirtie sonnes, and thirtie daughters, whome hee sent abroad, and tooke in thirtie daughters from abroad for his sonnes. And hee iudged Israel seuen yeeres.

וַ/יְהִי ל֞/וֹ שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים בָּנִ֗ים וּ/שְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים בָּנוֹת֙ שִׁלַּ֣ח הַ/ח֔וּצָ/ה וּ/שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים בָּנ֔וֹת הֵבִ֥יא לְ/בָנָ֖י/ו מִן הַ/ח֑וּץ וַ/יִּשְׁפֹּ֥ט אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל שֶׁ֥בַע שָׁנִֽים

Then died Ibzan, and was buried at Bethlehem.

¶ And after him, Elon, a Zebulonite iudged Israel, and he iudged Israel ten yeeres.

וַ/יִּשְׁפֹּ֤ט אַֽחֲרָי/ו֙ אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֵיל֖וֹן הַ/זְּבֽוּלֹנִ֑י וַ/יִּשְׁפֹּ֥ט אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל עֶ֥שֶׂר שָׁנִֽים

And Elon the Zebulonite died, and was buried in Aiialon in the countrey of Zebulun.

וַ/יָּ֖מָת אֵל֣וֹן הַ/זְּבֽוּלֹנִ֑י וַ/יִּקָּבֵ֥ר בְּ/אַיָּל֖וֹן בְּ/אֶ֥רֶץ זְבוּלֻֽן

¶ And after him, Abdon, the sonne of Hillel a Pirathonite iudged Israel.

And he had fourty sonnes, and thirtie nephewes, that rode on threescore and ten asse-colts: and he iudged Israel eight yeeres,

וַ/יְהִי ל֞/וֹ אַרְבָּעִ֣ים בָּנִ֗ים וּ/שְׁלֹשִׁים֙ בְּנֵ֣י בָנִ֔ים רֹכְבִ֖ים עַל שִׁבְעִ֣ים עֲיָרִ֑ם וַ/יִּשְׁפֹּ֥ט אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל שְׁמֹנֶ֥ה שָׁנִֽים

And Abdon the sonne of Hillel the Pirathonite died, and was buried in Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the mount of the Amalekites.
