Psalms 107
O giue thankes vnto the LORD, for hee is good: for his mercie endureth for euer.
GenevaPraise the Lord, because he is good: for his mercie endureth for euer.
הֹד֣וּ לַ/יהוָ֣ה כִּי ט֑וֹב כִּ֖י לְ/עוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽ/וֹ
Let the redeemed of the LORD say so: whome he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemie:
GenevaLet them, which haue bene redeemed of the Lord, shewe how he hath deliuered them from the hand of the oppressour,
יֹ֭אמְרוּ גְּאוּלֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר גְּ֝אָלָ֗/ם מִ/יַּד צָֽר
And gathered them out of the lands, from the East and from the West: from the North and from the South.
GenevaAnd gathered them out of the lands, from the East and from the West, from the North and from the South.
וּֽ/מֵ/אֲרָצ֗וֹת קִ֫בְּצָ֥/ם מִ/מִּזְרָ֥ח וּ/מִֽ/מַּעֲרָ֑ב מִ/צָּפ֥וֹן וּ/מִ/יָּֽם
They wandred in the wildernes, in a solitary way: they found no citie to dwell in.
GenevaWhen they wandered in the desert and wildernesse out of the waie, and founde no citie to dwell in,
תָּע֣וּ בַ֭/מִּדְבָּר בִּ/ישִׁימ֣וֹן דָּ֑רֶךְ עִ֥יר מ֝וֹשָׁ֗ב לֹ֣א מָצָֽאוּ
Hungry and thirstie: their soule fainted in them.
GenevaBoth hungrie and thirstie, their soule fainted in them.
רְעֵבִ֥ים גַּם צְמֵאִ֑ים נַ֝פְשָׁ֗/ם בָּ/הֶ֥ם תִּתְעַטָּֽף
Then they cryed vnto the LORD in their trouble: and he deliuered them out of their distresses.
GenevaThen they cried vnto the Lord in their trouble, and he deliuered them from their distresse,
וַ/יִּצְעֲק֣וּ אֶל יְ֭הוָה בַּ/צַּ֣ר לָ/הֶ֑ם מִ֝/מְּצֽוּקוֹתֵי/הֶ֗ם יַצִּילֵֽ/ם
And hee led them forth by the right way: that they might goe to a citie of habitation.

וַ֭/יַּֽדְרִיכֵ/ם בְּ/דֶ֣רֶךְ יְשָׁרָ֑ה לָ֝/לֶ֗כֶת אֶל עִ֥יר מוֹשָֽׁב
Oh that men would praise the LORD, for his goodnesse: and for his wonderfull workes to the children of men.
GenevaLet them therefore confesse before ye Lord his louing kindnesse, and his wonderfull woorkes before the sonnes of men.
יוֹד֣וּ לַ/יהוָ֣ה חַסְדּ֑/וֹ וְ֝/נִפְלְאוֹתָ֗י/ו לִ/בְנֵ֥י אָדָֽם
For he satisfieth the longing soule: and filleth the hungry soule with goodnesse.
GenevaFor he satisfied the thirstie soule, and filled the hungrie soule with goodnesse.
כִּי הִ֭שְׂבִּיעַ נֶ֣פֶשׁ שֹׁקֵקָ֑ה וְ/נֶ֥פֶשׁ רְ֝עֵבָה מִלֵּא טֽוֹב
Such as sit in darknesse and in the shadowe of death: being bound in affliction and yron:
GenevaThey that dwell in darkenesse and in the shadowe of death, being bounde in miserie and yron,
יֹ֭שְׁבֵי חֹ֣שֶׁךְ וְ/צַלְמָ֑וֶת אֲסִירֵ֖י עֳנִ֣י וּ/בַרְזֶֽל
Because they rebelled against the words of God: and contemned the counsell of the most high:
GenevaBecause they rebelled against the wordes of the Lord, and despised the counsell of the most High,
כִּֽי הִמְר֥וּ אִמְרֵי אֵ֑ל וַ/עֲצַ֖ת עֶלְי֣וֹן נָאָֽצוּ
Therefore hee brought downe their heart with labour: they fel downe, and there was none to helpe.
GenevaWhen he humbled their heart with heauines, then they fell downe and there was no helper.
וַ/יַּכְנַ֣ע בֶּ/עָמָ֣ל לִבָּ֑/ם כָּ֝שְׁל֗וּ וְ/אֵ֣ין עֹזֵֽר
Then they cryed vnto the LORD in their trouble: and he saued them out of their distresses.
GenevaThen they cried vnto the Lord in their trouble, and he deliuered them from their distresse.
וַ/יִּזְעֲק֣וּ אֶל יְ֭הוָה בַּ/צַּ֣ר לָ/הֶ֑ם מִ֝/מְּצֻֽקוֹתֵי/הֶ֗ם יוֹשִׁיעֵֽ/ם

GenevaLet them therefore cofesse before the Lord his louing kindnesse, and his wonderfull woorkes before the sonnes of men.
יוֹד֣וּ לַ/יהוָ֣ה חַסְדּ֑/וֹ וְ֝/נִפְלְאוֹתָ֗י/ו לִ/בְנֵ֥י אָדָֽם
For he hath broken the gates of brasse: and cut the barres of yron in sunder.
GenevaFor hee hath broken the gates of brasse, and brast the barres of yron asunder.
כִּֽי שִׁ֭בַּר דַּלְת֣וֹת נְחֹ֑שֶׁת וּ/בְרִיחֵ֖י בַרְזֶ֣ל גִּדֵּֽעַ
Fooles, because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.
GenevaFooles by reason of their transgression, and because of their iniquities are afflicted.
אֱ֭וִלִים מִ/דֶּ֣רֶךְ פִּשְׁעָ֑/ם וּֽ֝/מֵ/עֲוֺֽנֹתֵי/הֶ֗ם יִתְעַנּֽוּ
Their soule abhorreth all manner of meate: and they drawe neere vnto the gates of death.
GenevaTheir soule abhorreth al meat, and they are brought to deaths doore.
כָּל אֹ֭כֶל תְּתַעֵ֣ב נַפְשָׁ֑/ם וַ֝/יַּגִּ֗יעוּ עַד שַׁ֥עֲרֵי מָֽוֶת
Then they crie vnto the LORD in their trouble: he saueth them out of their distresses.
GenevaThen they crie vnto the Lord in their trouble, and he deliuereth them from their distresse.
וַ/יִּזְעֲק֣וּ אֶל יְ֭הוָה בַּ/צַּ֣ר לָ/הֶ֑ם מִ֝/מְּצֻֽקוֹתֵי/הֶ֗ם יוֹשִׁיעֵֽ/ם
Hee sent his word, and healed them: and deliuered them from their destructions.
GenevaHe sendeth his worde and healeth them, and deliuereth them from their graues.
יִשְׁלַ֣ח דְּ֭בָר/וֹ וְ/יִרְפָּאֵ֑/ם וִֽ֝/ימַלֵּ֗ט מִ/שְּׁחִיתוֹתָֽ/ם
Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodnesse: and for his wonderfull workes, to the children of men.
GenevaLet them therefore cofesse before the Lord his louing kindnesse, and his wonderful workes before the sonnes of men,
יוֹד֣וּ לַ/יהוָ֣ה חַסְדּ֑/וֹ וְ֝/נִפְלְאוֹתָ֗י/ו לִ/בְנֵ֥י אָדָֽם
And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thankesgiuing: and declare his workes with reioycing.
GenevaAnd let them offer sacrifices of praise, and declare his workes with reioycing.
וְ֭/יִזְבְּחוּ זִבְחֵ֣י תוֹדָ֑ה וִֽ/יסַפְּר֖וּ מַעֲשָׂ֣י/ו בְּ/רִנָּֽה
They that goe downe to the sea in shippes: that doe businesse in great waters:
GenevaThey that goe downe to the sea in ships, and occupie by the great waters,
יוֹרְדֵ֣י הַ֭/יָּם בָּ/אֳנִיּ֑וֹת עֹשֵׂ֥י מְ֝לָאכָ֗ה בְּ/מַ֣יִם רַבִּֽים
These see the workes of the LORD: and his wonders in the deepe.
GenevaThey see the woorkes of the Lord, and his wonders in the deepe.
הֵ֣מָּה רָ֭אוּ מַעֲשֵׂ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וְ֝/נִפְלְאוֹתָ֗י/ו בִּ/מְצוּלָֽה
For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy winde: which lifteth vp the waues thereof.
GenevaFor he commaundeth and raiseth the stormie winde, and it lifteth vp the waues thereof.
וַ/יֹּ֗אמֶר וַֽ֭/יַּעֲמֵד ר֣וּחַ סְעָרָ֑ה וַ/תְּרוֹמֵ֥ם גַּלָּֽי/ו
They mount vp to the heauen: they goe downe againe to the depthes: their soule is melted because of trouble.
GenevaThey mount vp to the heauen, and descend to ye deepe, so that their soule melteth for trouble.
יַעֲל֣וּ שָׁ֭מַיִם יֵרְד֣וּ תְהוֹמ֑וֹת נַ֝פְשָׁ֗/ם בְּ/רָעָ֥ה תִתְמוֹגָֽג
They reele to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man; and are at their wits end.
GenevaThey are tossed to and from, and stagger like a drunken man, and all their cunning is gone.
יָח֣וֹגּוּ וְ֭/יָנוּעוּ כַּ/שִּׁכּ֑וֹר וְ/כָל חָ֝כְמָתָ֗/ם תִּתְבַּלָּֽע
Then they cry vnto the LORD in their trouble: and hee bringeth them out of their distresses.
GenevaThen they crie vnto the Lord in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresse.
וַ/יִּצְעֲק֣וּ אֶל יְ֭הוָה בַּ/צַּ֣ר לָ/הֶ֑ם וּֽ֝/מִ/מְּצֽוּקֹתֵי/הֶ֗ם יוֹצִיאֵֽ/ם
He maketh the storme a calme: so that the waues thereof are still.
GenevaHe turneth the storme to calme, so that the waues thereof are still.
יָקֵ֣ם סְ֭עָרָה לִ/דְמָמָ֑ה וַ֝/יֶּחֱשׁ֗וּ גַּלֵּי/הֶֽם
Then are they glad, because they be quiet: so he bringeth them vnto their desired hauen.
GenevaWhen they are quieted, they are glad, and hee bringeth them vnto the hauen, where they would be.
וַ/יִּשְׂמְח֥וּ כִֽי יִשְׁתֹּ֑קוּ וַ֝/יַּנְחֵ֗/ם אֶל מְח֥וֹז חֶפְצָֽ/ם
Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodnesse; and for his wonderfull workes to the children of men:

Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the Elders.

וִֽ֭/ירֹמְמוּ/הוּ בִּ/קְהַל עָ֑ם וּ/בְ/מוֹשַׁ֖ב זְקֵנִ֣ים יְהַלְלֽוּ/הוּ
Hee turneth riuers into a wildernesse: and the water springs into dry ground:
GenevaHe turneth the floodes into a wildernesse, and the springs of waters into drinesse,
יָשֵׂ֣ם נְהָר֣וֹת לְ/מִדְבָּ֑ר וּ/מֹצָ֥אֵי מַ֝֗יִם לְ/צִמָּאֽוֹן
A fruitfull land into barrennesse; for the wickednesse of them that dwell therein.
GenevaAnd a fruitfull land into barrennes for the wickednes of them that dwell therein.
אֶ֣רֶץ פְּ֭רִי לִ/מְלֵחָ֑ה מֵ֝/רָעַ֗ת יֹ֣שְׁבֵי בָֽ/הּ
He turneth the wildernesse into a standing water: and dry ground into water-springs.
GenevaAgaine hee turneth the wildernesse into pooles of water, and the drie lande into water springs.
יָשֵׂ֣ם מִ֭דְבָּר לַֽ/אֲגַם מַ֑יִם וְ/אֶ֥רֶץ צִ֝יָּ֗ה לְ/מֹצָ֥אֵי מָֽיִם
And there he maketh the hungry to dwell; that they may prepare a citie for habitation,
GenevaAnd there he placeth the hungrie, and they builde a citie to dwell in,
וַ/יּ֣וֹשֶׁב שָׁ֣ם רְעֵבִ֑ים וַ֝/יְכוֹנְנ֗וּ עִ֣יר מוֹשָֽׁב
And sowe the fields, and plant vineyards; which may yeeld fruits of increase.
GenevaAnd sowe the fieldes, and plant vineyardes, which bring foorth fruitfull increase.
וַ/יִּזְרְע֣וּ שָׂ֭דוֹת וַ/יִּטְּע֣וּ כְרָמִ֑ים וַ֝/יַּעֲשׂ֗וּ פְּרִ֣י תְבֽוּאָה
He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly: and suffreth not their cattell to decrease.
GenevaFor he blesseth them, and they multiplie exceedingly, and he diminisheth not their cattell.
וַ/יְבָרֲכֵ֣/ם וַ/יִּרְבּ֣וּ מְאֹ֑ד וּ֝/בְהֶמְתָּ֗/ם לֹ֣א יַמְעִֽיט
Againe, they are minished and brought lowe through oppression, affliction and sorrow.
GenevaAgaine men are diminished, and brought lowe by oppression, euill and sorowe.
וַ/יִּמְעֲט֥וּ וַ/יָּשֹׁ֑חוּ מֵ/עֹ֖צֶר רָעָ֣ה וְ/יָגֽוֹן
Hee powreth contempt vpon princes: and causeth them to wander in the wildernesse, where there is no way.
GenevaHe powreth contempt vpon princes, and causeth them to erre in desert places out of the way.
שֹׁפֵ֣ךְ בּ֭וּז עַל נְדִיבִ֑ים וַ֝/יַּתְעֵ֗/ם בְּ/תֹ֣הוּ לֹא דָֽרֶךְ
Yet setteth he the poore on high from affliction: and maketh him families like a flocke.
GenevaYet he raiseth vp the poore out of miserie, and maketh him families like a flocke of sheepe.
וַ/יְשַׂגֵּ֣ב אֶבְי֣וֹן מֵ/ע֑וֹנִי וַ/יָּ֥שֶׂם כַּ֝/צֹּ֗אן מִשְׁפָּחֽוֹת
The righteous shall see it, and reioyce; and all iniquitie shall stop her mouth.

יִרְא֣וּ יְשָׁרִ֣ים וְ/יִשְׂמָ֑חוּ וְ/כָל עַ֝וְלָ֗ה קָ֣פְצָה פִּֽי/הָ
Who so is wise, and will obserue those things; euen they shall vnderstand the louing kindenesse of the LORD.
GenevaWho is wise that hee may obserue these things? for they shall vnderstand the louing kindnesse of the Lord.
מִי חָכָ֥ם וְ/יִשְׁמָר אֵ֑לֶּה וְ֝/יִתְבּֽוֹנְנ֗וּ חַֽסְדֵ֥י יְהוָֽה
